As a general rule, cheap tripods are a complete waste of money. (The cheap build quality work in complete opposition to the intended task.)

  • I was thinking upgrading to some on camerasdirect.com.au Manfrotto one's… are they well priced? or cheaper somewhere else?

Cheap tripods are good for people to learn to use tripods indoors and on firm, protected surfaces - I got one of these from Bing Lee closing down for $15 a few years ago, and it has been just fine as a backup unit to my much nicer Manfrotto (such as for people using point and shoot on timer while I'm using an SLR).

Though I wouldn't be rushing out to buy this one just because it's only $21… If you do want one, it's definitely better than paying $50+ for the cheapest crap tripod from most Australian retailers.

  • I had one of these. Only good for indoors. I had to replace mine and bought a Benro.
