      Not the same tablet…Mars is a single core tablet with LCD screen.
      Aurora Gen2 is dual core with IPS screen.

      While the one I posted is Dual core with an LG IPS screen. The same screen used in ipad.

    Hmm I thought the A9 was only single core. Don't they get the dual core from the fact it has a GPU in there as well. Same reason they think it is 1.5ghz as they are adding the A9 1ghz with the Mali400 GPU. Just dodgy marketing I thought.

      No its Dual Core. The original Novo 7 Aurora was single core.
      and Aurora II benchmarks are way better than the orignal Aurora.

      This is the best 7 inch tablet with ICS you can get for less than $150.

      Cortex-A9 is indeed dual core CPU, it differs from Cortex-A8 (market name: Allwinner A10) which is just single core CPU.

      For playing games, you're going to want the quad core tegra3 Nexus. Magazines shouldn't be a problem on any dual core tablet.

    I have this tablet and a tergra 3.

    For most games there is no diffrence - The Ainol is the best 7" you can buy for the money.

      How reliable is the software and hardware build quality? My previous chinese tablet only lasts 6 months then the audio is gone (A8X though it was given it to me for free). thanks

      Supplier is very reliable. based in HK and they are an authorised dealer of Brainwavz.
      they usually respond to issues within hours.
      This one comes with Fedex 2 days delivery for free.
      and as a side note the Brainwavz Beta IEM are really good and sound like a $70 IEM at least.

      Ainol comes with 12 month warranty but you will have to send it back to seller I beleive.

    The tab has major wifi issues :( and ghost touch issue …. Touch issue us fixed witha new flash rom reducin the touch sensitivity but no fix for wifi yet

    great price and i love the 4 that i have (only one for me setting up three others for family). They are fast dual core tablets with nice screens and good build quality for price.

    Cons

    Wifi is a major issue, they have missed a key piece of the wifi anttenna which can be fixed by pulling screen out of case and adding a 30mm x 25mm peiece of foil to arial in unit. This is fairly easy to do, have done it to 4 units myself and fixes issue, its not a software fault so I would only buy if you are very close to router or are happy to do mod. On a modding level it is very basic and does not require solder. Just an old credit card, sticky tape and aluminium foil. Some people have broken screens from incorrect opening technique so be careful.

    Some touch screen issues (i would like to use stylus but not sure if this will be possible, sorry havnt got one to test).

    I have the Aurora 1 and just love it…..weights half of my IPAD3….
    Screen is so good and clear (excellent for viewing photos… and speed is very adequate…
    Aurora II must be even better and faster….

      I think you'll be looking at a bit more than $200 - from Whirlpool discussions you would be looking at either the Cube U30GT or AussiePad 32GB.

    sigh and just when I talked myself out of getting a Nexus 7 :(

    Got some extra discount with the "fb2012fiver" coupon, picked up the stand/car charger pack ($5…. why not?) and upgraded to the M2 headphones as they are on Headphonics recommended list (+$29, for a $75 pair of headphones).

    I've read about a few issues with these things, but it looks like you can go the hack and sort most of them out.

    Mine just arrived :) Looks like they forgot to take out the free headphones when I upgraded, so I got the Betas AND the M2s. The viewing stand is rubbish, and the charger doesn't have an Australian plug on it so I've got it charging on USB at the moment.

    Ordered last Thur, FedEx got it Tuesday, I got it yesterday at 3:00pm. A week is still very good from HK. I had a Aus-US power plug adapter on hand. VERY pleased with it. It's at home on long charge - looking forward to playing with it this weekend.

    I bought one of these but it has turned out to be no bargain. Fedex / Australian Air Express/ Fastrack would not leave it at my home. So I drove an hour and a half hours to pick it up from the depot … and the screen is scratched. I am so pissed off right now. Oh and thats after I spent half on hour yesterday waiting to taalk to some one from fasttrack only to be transferred to Australian Air express and waiting another half an hour.

      Silly question….and im only trying to help…. it does have a screen protector on it from factory….is that whats scratched and have you tried taking it off? or is it a deep scratch in the screen?

    No It doesnt. That's what I thought to start with. They are light scratches I can only see in reasonable light, almost like some ones take sand fine paper to it. Maybe im being to pedantic ?

    I had the same, screen looked scratched and looked like sand paper was used on it. I didn't see any protector then i looked carefully and start to pick at the side, there was a protector, i removed it and the screen was fine. It took me about 5 minutes of picking before i could get enough of the protector off before i could peel it away.

    Check your screen carefully, your description is exactly like how my screen was and there was a protector.
