google should bring back nexus range. miss those days when they were <$500

agreed. Google competing against iphone and samsung doesn't make a ton of sense.

      • +1

Agree x2. Google's phone's don't seem to be the same quality as iPhone's, e.g. partners Pixel 6 pro bricked itself, but their XS Max is still going strong.

        • My pixel 3 is still working, albeit slow. Google phones are no less quality than other flagships. Not sure why you expect them to be cheaper, though they are already compared to the Samsung and iPhone flagships

        • You made an assessment of the overall global quality based on nothing but your own personal experience? That's what we call statistically irrelevant data. Pixel phones are as well made as both iPhone and Samsung.

          • @Ilikecars: Is that why they've had hardware issues amongst every generation? There is a quality disparity between iPhones and Pixels, or at least there was until the Pixel 7 range.

    • Motorola is for you then

      • How good are they with updates.

        • Depends on model, some offer 5 years plus now.

  • Price is good. Discount does not apply to Boost customers like me.

Can anyone confirm it works if you have a prepaid service?

    • +1

Worked for me, I'm on 6 month casual plan. Just need to option as 'keep your current plan'

    • +1

I have Boost, I was able to get all the way to the payment screen in checkout. Logged in with TelstraID used for Boost.

    • +2

As long as you have a boost ID it'll work. For all intents and purposes a boost ID is the same as a Telstra ID.

      • Yeah, eventually got it to work. Going to stick to my P6P and wait for the P10PXL

All I can say about this phone is very disappointed with the camera quality. I have been using this phone since September last year! So regretted buying this phone for my Pixel 7 Pro replacement.

    • +1

Oh interesting, from everything I've read and watched it seemed this was one of the best cameras on a current smartphone. Between this and the iPhone 16

      • -1

So not true! I totally cannot agree with it.

        • Maybe the camera is faulty? You never replied in your previous comment but someone else said they had one with faulty camera and they had it replaced.

          • @CodeXD: sometimes people just want to complain, but not do anything about it, because its not that big a deal.
If the phone was faulty, they should get it replaced!

Quality wise, the pixel takes the best photos hands down, talking from experience. Looks wise, the look is very natural which a lot of people don't like. A lot prefer brighter and more vibrant colors. Doesn't mean the Pixel is terrible, it's just more natural and true to life looking colors.

I upgraded from the Pixel 8 Pro to the S25 Ultra and I can confidently say, the Pixel camera on the Pixel 8 Pro is better, not HEAPS better but overall it is.

The only down side is the CPU of the pixel phones which makes the battery life below average. I hope they fix that with the Pixel 10 series. (Never tried the Pixel 9 series so can't really comment but a lot were saying the Pixel 9 Pro's battery is amazing, not sure if in comparison to the below average battery of the previous generation).

S25 Ultra battery is much much better than the Pixel 8 Pro so that was a nice upgrade for me.

          • @itsmoe: I have a 9pro and the battery is day and night from the 7a i was using before. not sure how it compares to samsung.

            • @remz22: Yeh I was leaning towards the Pixel 9 Pro but the upgrade didn't seem worth it at the time from the Pixel 8 Pro. I really like smaller sized phones even though I have giant hands.

I will see what the 10 series looks like and what it has to offer but the S25 Ultra has been great all rounder phone so might also hold on to it for 2 or 3 years just to give phones a but more time to advance as I feel the last 3 or so years, phones have not had much to offer generation to generation.

          • @itsmoe: CPU of the Pixel phones also has another downside - they are significantly underpowered so its difficult to do any intensive tasks e.g. photo editing. On my Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Lightroom is super slow to import, navigate, edit and export 50-60MB RAW files from my Sony A1ii. It can be extremely unresponsive with any adjustment sliders e.g exposure not registering any input for a few seconds or at all at times. An export of a test file from the A1ii took 25+ seconds. I tried it on my spare iPhone 12 mini and it is much smoother than the Pixel 9 Pro with basically no lag, it exported the same photo in less than 5 seconds.

        • I upgraded to the Pixel 9 from the Pixel 6a and the difference in quality was massive, so I'm surprised to hear the pro isn't great.

        • +2

Pixels (I am rocking a 8 pro) have far better camera than other similar generation big brand phones

    • +1

It must be some issue with your unit. No problems for me.

Also it is #2 on the leaderboard behind a Huawei flagship phone.

  • Price match with OW?

    • Don't think they will allow, JB said no

  • At the same telstra sale last year, the Google Pixel 8 Pro was 1.1k. So this is a $500 price increase!

  • Can use Telstra points as well.

  • I'll check tomorrow if Good Guys & OW want to price match / beat

If buying from Telstra, this will be unlocked to all carriers.. right?
