      Thanks for the update 👍

The question would then be enough stock for all orders or some orders will miss out. Lets see.

      • Yeah, it doesn’t quite answer if there’s enough stock for everyone but we can only hope their inventory system was correct.

      • +2

It’s pretty easy for them to set a stock limit in most e-commerce platforms now. It’s not possible to go over the limit even during flash sales usually as the checkout payment will always check the stock limit before final processing. At least shopify, magneto, salesforce which it would be one of these major platforms etc

  • How to get Tax invoice for TRS claim ?

    • +1

Most likely no invoice until delivery.

    • -2

      Microsoft Word

    • +16

Did you want one and miss out?

    • I got the phone cause I wanted the phone. I have a 12 mini but would like. New battery. For the same price as the battery I get a new phone. Win win. If people like me sell their phone. You’re not out of pocket much.

      • +1

My wife ordered one, you won’t believe why though, it’s because she needed a new phone…
Her current phone is 7 years old and she thought this would be a reasonable upgrade.

      • +2

According to the Apple website, battery replacement for the iPhone 12 mini is estimated at $109.

    • +2

Isn't that what Ozb is all about? You buy one if someone finds a good deal.

      • +3

Buy now. Think later. Isn’t that in the rules?

    • +1

They might not need it but there's potential to profit from it. I wouldn't call them pathetic.

      • +4

I consider scalping in general pretty pathetic.

    • +4

Getting kicks out of 'watching' an internet forum chat like some social experiment is the very definition of pathetic

      • just an interest in human psychology……but yes, you may have a point there :-)

    • +2

you call us pathetic but you've never posted a single deal? righto…

      • +2

Not only have they never posted a deal, they have never even pozzed or negged a deal, or even received any badges.

    • +1

I got the phone because it is the time of year when I look at new phones, after all the Xmas and post-Xmas sales are over and the retailers begin to plan for the next model.

I was looking for a bargain.

I am a long time android user. This phone, for it's price and features was a no-brainer even tho it wasn't my usual OS.

  • -2

    I just spoke with Amaysim.

”Im ringing on behalf of ozbargain, my names JV

She hung up. Not off to a good start.

I’ll give ‘em till Friday before my spooky meter hits suspicious.

    • +12

Stop calling her, she's got 5,000 iPhones to pack and send!

      • +1

I thought by dropping the name jv I would get expedited service!

  • Just got off support chat with Amaysim.

I brodened a couple of these so wanted to delay the activation of the plan. As previously mentioned in this thread, they confirmed that the plan gets activated between 2-10 business days from when the phone/plan was ordered.

However, the support agent did mention that the plan can be restarted in the future provided that there is no usage on the SIM/eSIM. You just have to contact them once you finally activate the SIM and they'll do this for you.

And they did also mention the obvious point (that I'm sure some people will forget) that you should deactivate the auto-renewal.

    • +1

Could the credit be added to an existing plan or transfer the data bank? I honestly have no use for a new number.

      • If they're anything like Boost then I would think so but I didn't ask that specifically so can't answer that.

      • Yes, just sign in to amaysim account and when buying you click on I want to buy this device and to change my current service. It will replace your current plan with this one and add on the data bank.

        • +2

But I’m on the $9 for 55gb plan/month with amaysim. They can take that out of my cold dead hands. Next month at least when it ends.

    • By deactivating auto-renewal I assume you mean change the payment method to BPAY?

      • no, you can just turn off auto renew.

      • +2

I believe you can only switch off auto renew once the sim is active, otherwise you can switch the payment method to BPAY.

  • please keep calling them, that helps. /sarcasm

  • Anyone use friends w benefits link for extra $10?

  • From live chat :
If you missed the delivery, the device will be forwarded to the nearest post office. A note from the courier will be left on your delivery as well.

    • The thing I love about our local posties is a single piece of paper on my doorstep scribbled with “please leave it” seems to override any and all signature requirements by the merchant.

      • Photo ID verification required to receive Sim delivery.

Australia Post chucks it in the mailbox :)

  • In hope of getting this phone - I m using Pixel 2XL and now move to this ip12m. How difficult it is to move photos, contact etc from android to ios? I have never used ios before.

Customer support probs be like those Fs…. over at OzBargain won't leave us alone.

we currently have trolls/scalpers/bargain hunters/people actually needing a phone all in the one thread.
what a time we are living in.

This right here is the OzBargain I signed up for :)

  • +2

Gotta love the reality where AAAC is lenient about (or straight allows for) overselling, "pricing errors" etc. Everybody is on their toes whether this phone got oversold or not, only because it's possible to happen, without real consequences to the seller. Despite they most probably have taken your money already.

You know what else is possible and probably common elsewhere in the world? That sellers, by law, offer only items that they've ensured they have handy, and that they're diligent in their offerings, incl. stocktaking, maintaining it in the IT systems etc. It's not a rocket surgery to implement, it's just something natural for decent business owners.

I'm not saying you're waiting in vain here. I'm saying you should be comfortable and able to be concerned merely about how quick they're going to ship, not if they ship.

  • Sigh - 4pm and no sign of tracking number… Probably won't get it by Friday and I'll need to recharge my Boost plan…

Or should I take a leap of faith and activate the amaysim?

    • Activate it. If the phone doesn’t come. Lodge a TIO complaint and or ask support. Both ways will work in your favour in the end anyway.

    • Hey, it's only 3:15pm in QLD.

Wonder where their warehouse is… Probably Sydney I guess.

      • +2

It’s Horsely park see my other comment. Same as where Apple ships their stuff from. Or within 5-10 minutes. It’s a mega centre of fulfilment in aus. Probably one of the biggest.

Bargainers gotta relax. Hopefully there some deals on weed soon when it’s legal. I’m very confident amaysim wanted these out the door so they could sell higher priced iPhones only!

  • -5

As time drips by, it does seem more and more likely that the phone portion of the transaction will be refunded, leaving everyone with the 90-Day 250GB SIM plan for a very reasonable $125 outlay. Great way for amaysim to broaden their customer base, given that many people already have an eSIM compatible phone

    • +9

No, if it gets refunded, it will get refunded as a bundle. Won’t be just the phone. It’s in the t&c

      • -2

Provided you don’t activate it, you may have a case. Naturally you’ll have to go through the usual customer service channels to request the refund

        • +7

Activated or not, it's a bundle, as specified in the terms and conditions.

If the mobile number is activated and Amaysim can't deliver the other part of the bundle (the phone), given that the order was accepted, I would be seeking compensation for the phone part.

The compensation I would be seeking would be equal to the cost of buying the same phone from another supplier.

If the customer wanted to keep the phone number, whether a newly allocated number or ported over, this would further complicate things for Amaysim.

  • +14

I just spoke to chat for real this time. And I have my order number. It’s shipping from Horsely park nsw which is the same distribution point for Apple, and is a major fulfilment centre. I’m in QLD. There could be others from Melbourne but I will assume most if not all will ship from Horsely park as it’s about the biggest fullfillment centre with Amazon, DHL and more.

    The item ships with StarTrack.

She confirmed 3-5 business days for my delivery.

She also confirmed the Esim is transferable to a different owner. As well as the sim.

Here’s the meat and bones of it:

Q:”can I change the owner or transfer the owner of an account or inactivated sim?”

A:” yes, we can process the change of ownership. You'll just have to download Change of ownership form that you can find on your account, under personal details. You just have to fill out the form, and send it back to us via email at
[email protected] we will keep in touch with you within 5 working days of submitting the form.”

A:” Once you processed Change of Ownership and the number is with the new account holder, we can generate a new SIM for the new account holder to download on his/her device.”

Q:” With the iPhone 12 mini deal yesterday. Do you have a timeline when these might start shipping?”

A:” Within 3-5business days, the device will be delivered.”

Gave my order number and my account details

A:” Thank you for providing those details, upon checking the ship will come from Sydney.
    Horsley Park, NSW.”

A:” Once you received tracking number, that is the time the delivery starts.”

I just got a new mac from Apple and it sent from Erskine park which is practically the same industrial shipping area, fulfilled by TNT as is normal with Apple. It is Sydney’s mega fulfilment centre. Practically packed full of transport companies and huge automated warehouses. For companies like coles, Costco, Woolworths, Amazon, FedEx etc

I’m now confident enough to sell my old iPhone 12 mini.

    • +1

I'd still be waiting for a tracking number before selling your current phone… But yeah I'm leaning towards 80% chance everyone gets their phones with this deal.

      • +1

I’m getting the feeling that Amaysim wanted out of the low cost iPhone 12 mini and wanted all stock gone. They’ve completely pulled it from their site. Not just “out of stock” it’s now gone. https://www.amaysim.com.au/plans/devices/apple/

Since Optus purchased it they’ve been slowly raising prices and trying to pivot it away from “shitty mvno”.

Plus it’s not a new phone. Maybe they got a deal as a tier one carrier to bugger off heaps of them. Optus can also get overseas models imported via Singtel.

There was too much to have done in terms of the marketing, legal and copy to be a price error. The only thing might be the stock amounts. But stock amounts of 5000 iPhones isn’t even that many. Even 10,000 isn’t many. That’s only 3 million dollars at that sale rate. Rounding error for Apple. I’d say it wasn’t that many units though.

I could be completely wrong. If I am I’ll get an iPhone 13 mini anyway. I’ve liked the idea of dual e sim for a bit and a slighter bigger battery in a small form factor. And if I get screwed by amaysim. It will be a sign of the gods.

        • +4

I’m getting the feeling that Amaysim wanted out of the low cost iPhone 12 mini and wanted all stock gone.

          • Or Optus had to meet a specified volume of sales with Apple and this was a quick way to achieve that.
          • Or Apple enlisted Optus to move some excess stock.
          • Or Optus wanted to increase the profile of Amaysim through the free marketing it got from this offer on 9 News and elsewhere.
          • Or, or, or …

We'll never know what was really behind the promotion.

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: Yes. We will never know. But I made peace with being screwed by amaysim if they do and will accept buying an iPhone 13 mini as an homage to the last small iPhone Apple will make. RIP mini.

I don’t believe the 3-5 business days. Even Apple was delayed by 3-4 days. Because of floods and all sort of things. I reckon late next week. Is more accurate or a bit after.

        • Amaysim advertised the 12 mini as brand new. Is there any reason to believe it's not a new phone? Hate to be surprised when I receive it

    • -5

I’m now confident enough to sell my old iPhone 12 mini.

Hopefully the refurb is in better condition. Or maybe you wanted a storage upgrade, or a colour refresh, perhaps

      • +4

It’s brand new. Where do you get the idea it’s refurbished? It would be illegal for them to sell a refurbished phone as “brand new” as stated all through their copy. Why would they take the reputational damage?

  • if you dont activate the esim, will they still renew your number automatically?

    • Seems yes, From the T&Cs

  • Is this a new or refurb?

    • New

    • Their email says "We’re so happy you’ve just purchased a brand-new phone with amaysim!". I dont think Amaysim will lie?

    • Does it make any difference as they are already OOS

  • +9

Yooo just received an AusPost pop up notification regarding a tracking number from StarTrack

    • +1

Same! How about it nay sayers?

    • +1

Yes it is sent via StarTrack! As confirmed by Chat in my comment above!

      • +1

I’ll be expecting it by tomorrow. usually is next day delivery

        • I did not receive an email yet. So I’m a little miffed. But I’m in a long queue near the back. I certainly was late to the party. And I think maybe one of the last 128gb models to sell.

Got the notification on the auspost app 😏

    • What time was your order?

I ordered at 2.35pm and no auspost tracking :(

    • +1

Thanks gonna call AusPost and have them redirect over to my place ;)

    • You might wanna hide your tracking number.

      • SuperLate now, he can’t edit his comment anymore

    Just received tracking as well

If anyone is looking for a bit of protection for their new mini, there are some good cases at Tech Union including this one for $20: https://techunion.com.au/products/tech21-evo-check-case-for-…
And a decent screen protector here for $10: https://www.progadgets.com.au/spigen-iphone-12-mini-alignmas…

    • Ffs I got these items on eBay this morning. But this case is way better.

    • That looks like a good deal for the screen protector

I’ve been using these cases from Amazon for my iPhones and I rate them for $10

ZUSLAB Nano Silicone Case for iPhone 12 Mini 5.4" Shockproof Gel Rubber Bumper Protective Cover - Cobalt Blue https://amzn.asia/d/8kwmaCF

    • lol at the BS write up though:

      • 12ft/3.6m Impact Protection: As tested by our scientists, this non-slip case offers the pinnacle of protection for your phone and its camera.

Not saying it's a bad case, just funny the lengths vendors go through to try and suck money from your wallet…

      • True story: I dropped my old phone from 10m onto concrete with a cover similar to above and it survived! Bit of a crack in screen protector but phone was fine. I reckon I was very lucky with the way it landed, but now happy to stick with these same cases again. YMMV

  • Probably decided to ship out free SIMs to everyone in case you don’t have an eSIM-compatible handset. But let’s hope for the best…

  • +4

Got my tracking added to my Auspost app!

    • Did you order yours early during the sale?
