Dammit! My apologies, I thought I was doing something useful and didn't notice that it had sold out.
      Mods… please close!

Abus Granit Xplus 540 is a better option, albeit more expensive

    • $136 on amazon - weighs 1.5kg so hefty, but looks to be big enough to include one wheel as well as frame (good for that hub motor or envolio CVT drive on the Mercedes :?). Note a focus on the locks being anti-pick, but youtube videos suggest the modern bike thief often just uses a battery powered grinder straight through the shacle. How well can these locks defeat that I wonder?

      • I own this exact lock. It weighs just over 1.1kg. It weighs more with the frame bracket and steel rope.

        • cheers - just took that off the amazon site, maybe package weight.

        • Steel rope is next to useless though, can be removed with standard bolt cutters

Nah, that's the "Sold Secure Silver" rated D model, not the OP's "Sold Secure Gold" rated DX model.

      Cheers.

  • DX on amazon looks to be $103 rather than the $75 for hiplok d

      DX has a higher rating.

        it looks the same…

        • shaft size of dx is thicker

FYI you cannot buy the frame mounted bracket individually anywhere in Australia. You have to buy it from Europe or USA and the cost is $$, mostly for the shipping.

The lock is great though. If you want the frame bracket the cheapest places are Wiggle or Chain Reaction.

the only thing different about this PS edition to a regular hiplok dx is the PS-branded plug that goes over the lock.

and the dx is a solid lock. some dipshit kids thought they could drill out the lock barrel. all they managed to destroy was the spinning disc thing at the top of the lock that makes picking/drilling it harder; i could still use my key to unlock it.
