2610

This card is not for everyone but with 325,000 Bonus Points seems like a good deal.

The bonus points are so random on the website. It showed 325,000 for me when I first visited it, refreshed the page showed 275,000, refreshed again showed 150,000 and stayed at 150,000. Changed browser, showed 325,000 again. Here's a screenshot https://imgur.com/a/zs7NJIQ

Benefits include:
$450 Travel Credit each year
$400 Global Dining Credit
Access to 1400+ Airport Lounges
Complimentary Accor Plus membership valued at $399 (one free night)
etc

    • Is there any way around the surcharge?

      • Nah I couldn't find a way. If anyone knows would be a great deal to post haha

        • Did you pay direct to ATO or through another company like Sniip? I was researching Sniip because it looks like you can get the full 2.25x points with a similar (1.5%) fee.

          • @nikftw: Also want to pay ATO. Fee with ATO is 1.45%. Fee with Sniip is 1.50% however Sniip website says you get will get full points, even for ATO. I could pay cash, but thinking to pay $5000 to get the 325,000 points straight up.

      • Not with Amex. Sniip is probably your best bet with respect to fee.

  • I cant seem to get it to work even with VPN.
Was working for me last week when I was testing it out haha.

    oh well

  • anyone having trouble enrolling in the $400 dining credit? I click enrol and it just takes me to the "Amex Offers" page and says "You currently have no available offers. Please try again later." Not sure if i have enrolled in it or not. Same thing happens with the Net-a-porter credit save to card button

    • It took me 5 business days to receive the dining credit and net-a-porter offers. Keep checking the offers.

      • Was that both dining credits? I can only see the local one in my offers

      • thanks, yeh the offers just showed up today on my account except for the international $200 dining credit.

      • I got all 3 after a couple of days of first transaction settling.

        • Took me 10 days to get them…
The remainder literally came through today…

i have a theory but not sure if this will work. if anyone has experience in doing credit check or processed applications, please advise if i am wrong.

When optus got breached, vicroad sent out a letter saying they'll replace affected people's license and reissue a new license number. would this be considered as a 'new customer' since there's new driver license number (im at vic btw). if that's the case, i wouldn't mind coughing out 1st year fee to get the signup bonus lol

    • nope, your identity is still the same.
With Optus customers, they sent a new card with new card no, driver's license no is still the same.

  • Still working for anyone as of 21st?

    • party over I guess

    • Nah - tried everything, looks like they’ve maxed it at 200,000

  • Anyone had any luck getting sign up bonus after changing cards? I had an AMEX Low Rate card about half a year ago and noticed in the terms the 18 month new customer clause. I didn't think it would be an issue because none of the banks lock you out for different class cards (e.g. low rate vs rewards cards)

    • Amex works differently and classes all the cards as Amex subject to the 18 month wait, except for the David Jones ones which used to be separate (dunno if that's still the case)

      • Thanks. I better call them up tomorrow morning and have my application withdrawn

  • I'm thinking of utilizing the 4 additional cardholders for the airport lounge benefits, does anyone know if they also get complimentary hotel status benefits as well (Hilton and Marriott Gold)?

    • I hope so!

    • One one additional card can get priority pass same goes for 2 of the hotel stutes. Not all 4 can get it.

      • +1

I'm happy with just one additional person… That way parents can get access…

        Thanks for the update

      • Also it’s a gimped PP. lounge access only, doesn’t include the cafe spend etc

        • Is this for all holders of the AMEX or the additional cardholders only?
Also, what does PP mean? lol

          • @eltito: Priority Pass… Which is the promo which this card is linked into

But a slightly less than full service one

First additional cardholder can get access but not the others

    • Hotel benefits for all supps, not Accor plus though

  • Woooo delivery was meant to be Tuesday… It came today ..

    It's metal and engraved…

    So so nice

    • What is the shipping status of your card? Does it say delivered?
Mine is saying it's coming tomorrow, but I DHL is only 2 hours away and it was there on friday

      • My email doesn't say delivered.. and the tracking link doesn't work. That broke last week so I think there's only so many times you can push it before it stops lol

Mine originally said coming Tuesday, that changed to Friday, friday arvo said Tuesday… And now it came today Sunday

The email itself still says delivery on Tuesday…

        • Yeah, my tracking link doesn’t work as well. It goes to the home page of Amex.

  • Got the card today but how do I know that I'm eligible for 325000 bonus points (with the criteria of course). I don't want to end up in a situation where I activate the card, do the spending, and later find out it's only 200,000 points or something. Did anyone get a confirmation email or something of that sort saying 'congrats, you will get 325K points if you do this etc'?

    • Ask live chat

      • Live chat needs an account. Creating account needs activating the card isn't it? I'd like to know this before activating. Surely other ozbargainers wouldn't just jump onboard without this confirmed for a card with $1400 annual fee.

        • I've activated mine and it hasn't said I owe the annual fee yet..

But it says I have a statement coming in 2 weeks so maybe there's a grace period…

          • +1

@CereaL: Annual fees comes in the first statement,

        • Why not calling them?

  • These guys are clowns, have an "excellent" credit score according to Equifax and >150k income and was rejected? Never been rejected for any credit application before lol
Anyone know why this would be the case? I'm a serial churner but my score is still very good and have never missed payment. Could requesting additional card holder be a factor?

    • I think it might be the churning , they can see the number of cards on your file , had this recently with a remortgage

      • Only 1 active card, but yeah I suppose they may not want serial churners

    • +1

I earn <80k … Had a default.. and still got approved

They so didn't like you lol

      • I'm gonna call em and try find out why, hate taking the credit check without getting anything for it

        • Would be interested to know if you get any feedback or outcome reversal from your phone call. In similar financial situation to yours except I've opened and closed 2 amex cards previously without issues during churns as well until this offer. Literally received an enveloped rejection letter in the mailbox after over a week of silence. Surprised it wasn't by email or text or an instant one at the point of application like some of the other comments here.

          • @johnjones8: any explanations on why yours was rejected? waiting for mine to come… in a similar financial situation as well, rejected same day of the application but no email till i called them up. hoping to be able to appeal the decision.

            • @longnbtd: thought you got approved?

              • @gotcha: nope, hahha, i was so sure i would :D
had to call them up and was told to wait for the letter to arrive.

                • @longnbtd: What letter? Rejection? That’s so weird.

                  • @hawkeye93: yep!
was actually rejected right after my application submitted but no communication. had to call them them to check and was told rejected and to wait to for the letter. hoping to to be able to appeal - too keen for the 325k haha

                • @longnbtd: Hmmmm I am starting to wonder if they are just rejecting ones who signed up with 325k after a certain period despite financial conditions being met

                  • @knobbs: a person put in $0 as their income in a previous comment and was still approved. you're probably right!

                    • +1

@longnbtd: Makes sense since they barely ask any other questions compared to other cards, so they must be relying on information from the credit reporting agencies or whatever.

                  • @knobbs: Damn.. maybe you're right. I definitely got in while 325k was still available and made sure I signed up using the 325k offer. What (profanity)

                    • +1

@ntwigz: Another late application that would meet credit conditions easy denied here.
"Letter will arrive in the mail"

        • I've had this before with a Mortgage , they can say "Various Reasons" without giving you the actual reason annoying

    • -2

      sucked in

    • +1

Same situation with me (i'm a serial churner though) - I've asked for a manual assessment, which they've agreed to…i mentioned bonus income as well. They asked about living expenses, other cards, and mortgage on the phone.

      • Cheers for the update, I'll call today and ask same

      • how did you go? any love?

      • any luck? @jonnoyeo

  • Is anybody else able to get the 325k points using referral links? I've tried with a few browsers and a few VPNs with no luck.

Only getting an offer for 200k points with the referrals.

    • You’re late to the party. Deal marked as expired.

      • yeah, some users were saying that the deal was still live for referrals only

        • +1

That died a couple of days ago as well following the public offer.

          • @Nuggets: Boo, really wanted one of these

            • +1

@erd: 11 days late to the party 😉

              • +1

@CereaL: Actually saw it on time, but stupidly decided to cancel a current card before applying. That’s what you get for being sensible

  • OK. Called Amex to get the tracking number from DHL as the link they sent me does not work anymore. Found out that it arrives in Perth this morning but expected delivery date is 30/1 (WTH). I then changed it to tomorrow EOD.

  • Has anyone had success in adding their card to Google Wallet?

    • No issues here when using the card scan option

  • Still waiting on the Accor Plus membership to activate :/

    • Not missing much — most properties you’d want to redeem the free night for are spoken off (assume non-Australia).

      • +1

Finally came through today, booked Sydney in June (on the way to NZ) :) $400 saving right there

        • How long did it take? I did mine last week and still got nothing

          • @eltito: 4—6 week's to receive it

            • @CereaL: Oh wow, I thought it was via email (username and pw). Clearly, didn't read it and didn't realise I'd get a physical card

              • @eltito: Accor Plus card is digital through the app

          • @eltito: 10 days, signed up to it on the 23rd

      • We got a night in Hobary for the Queens bday wekend.

  • with the unlimited lounge passes, are there limits on how many times you can visit the same lounge in a day? For example what is stopping us from visiting one lounge with 2 guests, leave and come back 15 minutes later with another 2 guests? Not saying that I will ever do that, but can't find anywhere in the t&cs about the daily limits and if this practice is not allowed.

    • Similarly, can you go to lounge A, bring 2 guests and go to lounge B with another 2 guests at the same airport on the same day? It's not that common in ANZ to have multiple PP lounges but in other parts of the world it's quite common at bigger airports.

      • I've asked same question in the Citibank Prestige deal and got negged for no reason given.

      • I've visited different lounges with guests on the same day, but never tried revisiting the same one.

      • I have done lounge hopping with same guests many times, especially at Changi.
I can not see that being any different comparing to lounge hopping with different guests.

    • +1

I believe there is a minimum 3 hours gap between 2 visits to same lounge on same day.
On my way back from Europe with a 12 hour layover in Changi, I visited the Plaza Premium on arrival to have some breakfast before heading out to downtown. I had no problem visiting this same lounge again in the afternoon.

      • Can I ask where you got the info of 3hrs?

        • cant find the source anymore, probably from youtube a few years ago.

        • +1

I have done Plaza at HK at 1 hour gap

    • Looks like you can bring 2 guests only in Centurion Lounge and Plaza Premium Lounges. For Priority Pass Lounges, you can only bring 1 guest for free.

    • I have entered the same lounge twice at KH, had a gap of hour between them

  • Interestingly, received the bonus posts after spending only ~$4,500

    • I got past $5k, but that's only because of the annual fee. That was sufficient for me too.

      • Annual fee doesn't count…

        • +1

I thought so too. Maybe $5k wasn't the actual minimum spend required by myself and spackbace.
