This card is not for everyone but with 325,000 Bonus Points seems like a good deal.

The bonus points are so random on the website. It showed 325,000 for me when I first visited it, refreshed the page showed 275,000, refreshed again showed 150,000 and stayed at 150,000. Changed browser, showed 325,000 again. Here's a screenshot https://imgur.com/a/zs7NJIQ

Benefits include:
$450 Travel Credit each year
$400 Global Dining Credit
Access to 1400+ Airport Lounges
Complimentary Accor Plus membership valued at $399 (one free night)
etc

          • @ol mate: yeah, that really sucks. miss the good old days that we could head to these restaurants to get some decent food pre flights.
Suppose it was due to US Plat card holders abusing this perk too much

          • @ol mate: Does it? I have citi and Amex PP. so using it for food is not scrapped altogether?

            • +1

@grasstown: Yep, I used it 3 weeks ago at Biggie Smalls in T3 MEL

    • Is the Citi Prestige offer the one with the $7.5k minimum spend and one less month to do it in? Or am I looking at the wrong referral link/offer, since while the fee is cheaper than this amex it seems to be a bit more effort.

      • +2

Citi Payall lets you transfer to yourself. Easy peasy to meet the requirement.

        • What is Citi Payall?

          • @first in line: Search for that keyword and you will find the answer. There’s a separate deal posted for it here.

        • Ah yes of course thank you for reminding me of that feature, looked it up and glad to see it's still fee free for the foreseeable future. Completely blanked on PayAll cos I used a premium card last time around and thought the fee would've come back since then.

    • There's an offer: 300,000 bonus Citi reward Points when you spend $7,500 on eligible purchases within 60 days from approval.

I'm not sure I can spend that much though :/

      • +2

CitiPayall let you transfer to yourself. So no actual spending needed.

  • For a supplementary card holder who never had amex in their name before, would they be eligible for the bonus points?

    • Yes

  • Isn't Qantas with Amex point 1:1 based on this? https://www.americanexpress.com/en-gb/rewards/membership-rew…

    • That's the UK version. The AUS version is 1:2 QF:MR.

    • Your link is broken.

      • Sorry. It’s just supposed to link to citi premier card.

  • Being a charge card with supposedly no limit, has anyone or does anyone know if it would be possible to buy a new car with this? A $50k car would equate to 56,250 ff points if it can be done, and if I was going to pay cash originally it's better to get the points in the process.

    • +1

Entirely at the seller's discretion. i puchased a new car back in 2014 using my Visa card but had to include the dealer's merchant fee.

    • +1

There's an option in it which is like confident purchase. You can notify amex what large purchase you are going to make and they can confirm if you qualify

    • +2

      A few things to consider…

      • While there is "no limit", there is a limit per transaction (called spending power). This usually starts at about $10000 in your first month but will increase over time based on your spending.
      • If you would like to purchase a car but don't have enough "spending power", you can pre-load the card with a balance of the funds required (or the whole amount). It would be also best to speak to Amex as well before putting the purchase through so they are aware of a larger than usual transaction taking place on the account.
      • Consider the fees for using the Amex. You get 2.25 Amex points per dollar or 1.125 QFF/Krisflyer points per dollar.
        — From a statement credit perspective where 200 points equals 1 dollar, then you're ahead when the card fee is 1.125% or less. Using your above example, $50k car nets you 112500 points which equates to $562.50 statement credit. If the fee is 1% then you're making $62.50 in the transaction (as the card fee is only $500).
        — From a frequent flyer points perspective, then you need to do the maths to see how much you value each point earnt (really depends if you use the points on business/premium travel or economy travel). You might find on the above example that even paying 1.5% of card fees is worth it for all the points you will earn.
  • Everyones talking about the deals offered for this card…. are they the same as say the AMEX qantas ulitmate etc just the ones listed under offers on the AMEX site that come with any amex card…?

    • +1

The higher the card the more benefits you get. Special offers shownupmon platinum card

  • +6

I wish every finance company was as easy as Amex for credit application. Fill in the details, no income justification,no expences, at the end of the application - "Your card will arrive in five days" Thanks for the heads-up on this offer OP.

    • how long did it take for it to be approved?

      • could be just an hour or two

      • By the time I got to the end of the application it was approved.
So like five minutes after I began the application.

        • da fark, it's been 3 days for me and nothing!

          • +1

@CunningRunt: Yeah that's strange, I also got approved immediately

          • +1

@CunningRunt: My previous couple of times with amex was more than a few days of silence as well before getting notice of approval (never been lucky enough to experience these instantaneous ones), so wouldn't worry too much about it and just wait it out. Not guaranteeing anything though.

  • is there a way to check how long your previous amex was?

    • Call the number on the side of the application window, they will check for you.

    • Check with your credit report agency - Credit Simple, Credit Savvy, Credit Clear etc

  • +4

For people wondering if they meet the income requirement: I got approved as a 1st year doctor with a salary in the low 70,000 with no additional documentation so I truly do believe they have removed the 100k requirement

    • +1

Thank you Ribhargain, this is great to know for those under 100k!

  • Do you get the bonus points when you receive the card or once you spend the $5k in the first 3 months?

    • It is after spend criteria

  • Does holding an additional card from someone else count towards the 18 month time frame as a new customer?

    • Nope , Just holding another one with Amex

  • Anyone still able to see 325k? Maxing out at 275 for me.

    • Mine still shows 325k points, i am using chrome on fold 3

  • +1

    200k for me :-( was 325

    • Now only 275k

  • Applied and approved, was showing 325k points

  • Applied and approved with the bonus 325k points. Thanks OP!

  • Thx OP. Just got my approval email.
Does anyone know how to use it before the card arrives?
Google shows this but it is for US.

    • +2

I called them and asked the same question. It's not possible in Australia.
My card was sent on Friday and arrived Monday morning. Card was sent from Singapore via DHL. Super fast.

      • thx

      • Seems like only westpac has the feature of an immediate digital card after online approval before the physical one arrives in the mail.

  • Would this offer by any chance expire or with conditions changed before the 31st Dec 2023?

    • +1

One sec, let me check my crystal ball…

      • -1

hahaha, but genuine question tho from a total noob, is it quite normal for this offer to only last for a month before they totally scrap this?

        • They can lower the bonus points at anytime if they want?

  • (profanity) it, gonna go for this. Got qantas gold status this year from business travel and might make it to platinum. Already scored business class holiday to US for missus and I, this will probably get me most of the way to another one next year.

    • +1

      hehe someone downvoted you. Jealousy?

  • +2

For all you new members to Amex you don’t get the $450 travel credit until you pay the annual fee and first statement. It’s annoying as I wanted to book return flights to Europe before the prices go up!

  • T&C's state 8-10 weeks to get the 325k sign up points after hitting the $5k spend minimum, has anyone got experience with these signup points and getting them this late after reaching the requirements'? was hoping to use them asap for flights in june

    • Chance of getting a redemption flight in June? From what I've read online, outlook for 2023 is poor.

    • +2

From previous experiences Amex is one of the faster cards in terms of giving out the points once you've hit the minimum spend (unlike eg ANZ or westpac dragging it out to at least one extra statement afterwards). Unless it's changed recently I got my points within ~10 days of hitting the minimum spend and separate from the end of month statement.

      • got bonus QF points from Westpac just a day after 1st statement last week

        • Glad they're getting better then. Also forgot to mention CBA is slow too.

  • Is the max bonus points 275k now?

    • +1

I thought so too but then I got 325 again later.

    • Got 325k last night

  • +2

Seeing 200k on my end now…

    • Uh oh, that’s not good.

    • Same

    • Just tested now. Still see 325k. Don't give up just keep trying until it shows up. Close and reopen in private mode. Change browser, ip, even device. It will come up.

    • Same for me :(

    • Same here. I think the party is over. I've tried changing browser, in and out of incognito multiple times on 2 different phones

    • tried iPhone 8, iPhone 7+, MacBook & iMac — VPN, 4G & diff IP addresses… safari & chrome… all now showing 200K

    • Same here - 200k everywhere. party's over :(

    • +1

Yup 200k only. The disclaimer has gone too.

    • +2

I did see 200k points with the above link but if you use the referral for amex platinum, it shows 325k points

      • +1

        Second this.

      • I tried some referrals an no luck on 325k :(

edit: scratch that. I opened a referral link on my phone incognito and got the 325k bonus offer.

      • Can confirm, just applied and approved for 325 using random referral link.

        • in incognito mode.

          • @mattypoika: Can you share the link or referral @mattypoika?

          • @mattypoika: Did you have to try a few times? still not getting the 325k offer :(

            • @longnbtd: Yep i tried a few times last night on the referrals and finally got it. I think what worked for me was phone on incognito mode and switching off wifi and turning on mobile data (i.e. change ip address)

        • +3

To those who used random referral links, thank you. Noticed another 45k points depositted to my account this morning which is in addition to the 1st 45k I had received last week from referring a friend.

          • @gotcha: Lucky you! :)

            • @jakxon: Yeah, 1st ever time getting referral points via OZB random links

            • +1

@jakxon: lucky me reached the annual 200k cap, removed my referral link for now so clicks dont get wasted

  • -6

    Declined for this one.

Third time declined by Amex in around 12 months. No other declines by other providers including Westpac late last year.

I took Amex to AFCA when I last had a card with them and complained through their internal processes so I think this is biting me in the ass.

Last time they mentioned data on Equifax but I checked and am rated excellent plus salary or debt shouldn't be any concern as Equifax also shows I paid each month in full and I have no debt.

Just a word of warning that you may get bitten in the butt if you try to hold Amex accountable.

    • +1

I took Amex to AFCA when I last had a card with them and complained through their internal processes so I think this is biting me in the ass.

Lol yup looks like they've sacked you as a customer

  • Still 325k points of you use the referral link

  • Anyone still getting the 32.5k points?

    • That's only 10% of what we've got.

  • Ok, here’s my experience. Applied this morning using the referral link, on my mobile phone with 4G connection. Still see the 325k bonus points offer. Make sure you take screenshot of them.

Signed up and got instant approval at the end of application. Beware that they now add the minimum salary condition ($100k) in the “Important Information”, but I earn less than 70k so looks like not applicable yet? Anyway, everything was so smooth.

P/s: I currently have Citi Prestige, Latitude 28 degrees, and ANZ rewards platinum opened.

    • Did you use the main link in the OP or kept trying the 'Random (104) link under Referral links? I've been trying Referrals all morning by opening in Incognito and 4g connection too, but only get 200k 🙁. Will keep trying whenever I get the chance today, but would appreciate a direct link that works if possible.

      • Referral link as it looks like the main link no longer offers 325k points. You may try using a different device (tablet, smartphone, etc.).

        • what phone, and what browser? :P

          • @illiterate: Pixel 7 pro, and I tried using Chrome, Edge and Firefox in Incognito mode. Tried both with/without VPN and on 4g or 5g. Also turned on/off airplane mode and restarted the device… All this and still 200k

            • @lenskap: i got the 325K! took me like 10 attempts lol - safari incognito

          • @illiterate: Iphone 13PM in my case. Safari, not Incognito mode but 4G connection.
