Another nice portable recorder deal. I've ordered the Tascam DR-05x myself instead, because while it's less portable I prefer the sound quality of the internal mics, but this one is reportedly a nicer chuck-it-in-your-bag portable voice recorder.

I've got the H6 and H5, and had the H4, H2, H1. H1 is by far the best SQ/size ratio
H1n still a good bit of kit, though I prefer the original H1 with the digital input gain controls. I have the wheel on my H1n models taped as it’s easy to bump.
What is the benefit of this over traditional mic?
And versus a dictation voice recorder?
IE what do people use this for?Surely music.
The mic layout is designed to capture stereo. But may be better to ask your question as a reply to the previous posters who mentioned they own one.For field interviews, podcasting, music recording, ambient sound recording for videos/films, etc.
I use two of these for wedding videography audio capture.
A traditional mic doesn't record?
I assume you would use this mic with Zoom?
In Zoom you can record using any mic. This is unrelated to the "Zoom" video conferencing software. This is a portable, battery powered, high fidelity audio capture device. People use it for recording musicians, ambient sounds or interviews etc.
That's right, microphones only capture audio to then be recorded by something else - this is both. I've used many zoom products and aside from when I need more than 2 channels, this has been the most practical / useful. Very easy to use in conjunction with say, a Rode Wireless Go.

I got one earlier this year for something small and portable. Already have a Zoom H6 for more serious stuff.
Got it a week back during this deal.
Still don't know how to use it properly though.
