When you buy a more expensive vehicle most likely your are getting either more features, or paying for brand prestige, but with Samsung/Apple, they are just slugging you for more storage, you don't get anything more from the base 128gb model

I would say it is not until something happens to your phone. Repair cost of these phones are really expensive.
That's like any insurance, you don't need it until something happens and then you regret not having it

I was recently told by a lady at the Samsung repair store in my area to avoid the fold 4. Lots are getting sent back as they get stuck and don't unfold. Love my fold 3 but repairs sure are expensive!
Sounds like warranty work to me.
If you were happy with the fold 3, why would the fold 4 be worse? Someone who works at a repair store isn't going to have the most objective view, the more popular phone will appear to be the least reliable
It's a different phone with a different design. She said a lot of the 4's were getting sent back. Just letting people know about a manufacturing issue that was not present in the previousodel.

The fragility of this phone has always worried me
The new hinge design looked to me a bit more primative compared to the previous version.
The 200k test by Samsung had some reassurance, but your post rings alarm bells for me!
If we refer to the prices in the Samsung EDU August pre-order deal, this is a price rise for the 512GB version instead of a discount for the 1TB version.
