More 12 Month plans please JB !

    Nice find OP

    • +12

Yes, need a good 12M deal to port away from Floptus. Still paying $41.25/month for 100GB but don't use nearly that much data (donate most of it) and am sick of their bullshit.

      • +8

They have a 12 month plan for $69 with 60g + 40gb bonus data with a $300 gift card. If you ask for the $20 port in bonus, that equates to $49 per month, if you factor in the gift card, ends up being $24p/m

        • +1

Didn't know we can ask for $20 port in bonus! Thanks.

          • +2

@jarredxx: You can ask but my understanding is you likely won't get.

          • @jarredxx: Just to clarify you don’t ask jb, you need to ask Telstra via chat after you’ve been ported by JB.

            • +9

@Slo20: Why would they do it after you have ported in? I would have thought the credit is just if you sign up directly with them

              • @greennick: I can’t answer the why as I haven’t been able to find any details on Telstra site which has any T&C’s about port in credits but I took up JB’s port in offer last month and got the $20 credit contacting Telstra chat. You will see from previous deals it can be very hit and miss getting a rep to give the credit so I’m not saying it’s a sure thing.

                • @Slo20: How long before/after porting through JB would you contact Telstra chat ?

                  • +1

@Shaquille Oatmeal: I contacted them the day after porting but I have heard others do it the same day.

              • @greennick: Ask in chat before signing up. Then if they agree, screenshot or ask for a ref number of convo, then sign up and hit them up for the credit.

                • @Whatisthatvelvet: I did that. They gave me the wrong reference number (or lied) but I had screen shots. Still took me several escalations before they honoured it.

          • +3

@jarredxx: At signup would be easier if JB Hifi does it.
Via Telstra chat tbh its very hard to get even $10 applied from chat.

        • +1

Can confirm this method works fine for a 12-m deal.

          • @evasive: does anyone know how to properly find and locate live chat

        • Was hoping for at least a $400 gift card

        • Even if its only a $10 port in credit. $39 pm is a decent deal.
I'll be jumping on this today, will certainly try my luck at $20 port in!

    • Indeed a $50 per month plan would be most welcome!

      • -6

Keep dreaming , you people expect everything for nothing ! Life doesn't work that way

      • -2

this is a $50/month when you deduct the value of the voucher.

  • +2

Happy I managed to sneak in with the $69 24 months for 300GB with the iPad pro 11inch 2021

Still a decent deal here though!

    • Same here. But this one has voice and sms.

      • Mine was replacing my Optus mobile broadband so all sorted there :)

    • Saw that one, but couldn't justify it. You basically buy a Ipad pro full price + $300 I think it was for the phone plan.

      A. Wouldn't buy an ipad full price ever.
      B. Very hard to justify 300gb plan with the above point.

Now if there was some kind of way to get a second sim on the same plan and use it for home internet, could see that being a massive win but yeah bit of an odd one.

      • +1

I'm using it as home broadband only in my Optus router, I was paying $65 for 200GB before. Sure, it's not as good as maybe NBN pricing but I always need the router to move around so it suits me perfectly fine.

I would never buy an iPad at full price ever too, but Optus and Vodafone pricing is maybe $59 for unlimited etc, but I only use 150GB/200GB max, so this is a fine proposition for me. Years ago, I took a similar approach for the same price but got the Galaxy Tab S4 w/4G.

  • +3

Love that… minimum cost "only" $2346. It is a good deal overall though, if you have high data requirements… you're essentially paying $49 a month for a 200GB per month plan.

    • +4

      = my nbn 50/20 internet, $50/month

    • But how does one cash in the $1200 gift card, are they tranferable to sell at a lower price, honestly never have dealt with gift cards with Jbhifi so love to know 🤔

  • +1

This is actually pretty decent.. good post

  • The page on the link says 300GB. Makes this deal even better.

    • -1

You only get 3 months of bonus data.

      • +3

From doweyy’s comment in the $69/M deal previously

the bonus data lasts throughout the life of the plan.
31 December 2022 end date relates to the bonus data offer being available for new signups. After that, new signups would only get 60GB and no bonus.

  • +1

Are they still providing the $20 monthly credit?

    • +1

Was lucky enough to get it applied to the last 24 month deal. First chat person was more than obliged.

      • Damn I was only able to get a $10 port in credit applied to my 24 month plan a couple of weeks ago :(

        • For the full 24 months or just for 12? I was told they can only do 12 at a time.

      • For the full 24 months or just for 12? I was told they can only do 12 at a time.

        • For just 12 months.

          • @Marshmellow20: Likewise, got $20 port in credit for 12 months on a 12 month contract. I was curious if the 24m guys got it applied for longer but seems to be a 12m limit… making these 24m deals less attractive. Better off with $69 12m + $300gc with $20/pm port in discount and port back in after a year to repeat.

            • @evasive: Damn, didn't realise the port in credits didn't last forever. Can't be bothered to be porting all over the place every 12-24 months!

    • +1

      https://imgur.com/eGA6Ezb

I did it on a 12m $69 plan. Was straight up in the chat and asked for the $20 discount. First chat they said they will apply it, received first bill, they didn't apply it. Chatted with second guy, made sure they applied it and was sent in an email with the document showing $20 discount.

    • Just for you !

  • I can confirm I received a $10 discount credit that i received. I just stated that I ported over the number and did it on the telstra app.

    • What did you tell the rep Thanks

      • I stated that I had just ported over a number to telstra through JB Hifi, and asked if they could provide me a $10 discount for the life of my plan. They said they could only do it for 12 months.

        • Thanks

    • Did you just do this after you have the plan signed up and active? Just wondering if it's something that I'm supposed to during sign up.

  • Do we get any International calling minutes with these JB-Telstra plans? I also notice that the Roaming charges are double than the usual $5 per day with Telstra plan.

    • +4

Nope. International minutes are PAYG. Which is one big reason I'm not interested in these plans.

  • Problem With JB Telstra plan is, it is restricted in many ways, no data share no International add on. Also not sure, if I can use it in apple watch as one number or not. Feels like its more like belong/boost than Telstra.

    • +2

You can definitely do One Number with JB plans. I did it recently and got the additional $5 added in my invoice. I believe as long as you are getting directly invoiced by Telstra you can do it on any plan provided it’s a post paid plan.

    • Hey remonjap, do you know if I can go roaming with this?
I think telstra has the $5 or $10 a day roaming on demand. I'd like to do that

  • i remember when they added a $30 discount on top of this, unsure if they will ever do that again

  • +1

Isn't this $49/month after removing gift card value?

  • Does anybody know if JB will allow you to add more sims to the same account and share data? I remember back when I was with Telstra, they would let you do that and charge and extra $5.00 per sim each month.

    • +1

Nah JB plans don’t allow data sharing unfortunately.

“All data expires at the end of the month and is not shareable. Data is for personal use in a smartphone only”

    • telstra not even dose it anymore. I had one before, they have automatically changed it to $15 data plan.

  • Around $54/m if you factor in the $1200 gc value discounted at 10% (e.g. bonus flybuys point /Woolworths dollars on TCN or Ultimate Cards). Hope they bring back the old $69/m for 12 months with $500 gc offer.

  • At the end of these plans (e.g. 24 months for this post):

    • does the price continue at $99/mo
    • any chance they change your price down the line?
    • and does any port-in bonus acquired via chat continue on?

    cheers

    • I got a $68/mo plan in 2019. It continued after the 24 months and didn't change price (still going at $68/mo).

    • Once your contract period ends, you need to contact Telstra to change to month to month plan but if u don’t it will continue with the same plan/price.

Also I was able to get the port in bonus a couple of days ago but on the 2nd try. First person said no coz I was on jbhifi deal but the 2nd person was helpful. I contacted via the Telstra app chat

  • +3

Yes, i got a $20 pm welcome credit in last month's promo for 24mo for x2 services because it was a port in.

Yes, It took 4-6 attempts per service. (Both services was Aldi pre) to post. Much harder than last time.

Asking late at night seems to have worked on both occasions. I feel like during the day, support chat is answered here in Oz, while late night is India (they seem more flexible).

    Yes, happy to answer questions.

    • +1

Is it $10 or $20 credit? I’ve read varying reports.

      • +1

I kept asking for $20 and eventually got $20. But i think ot varies on the plan cost.. eg $69 might not be eligible.

        • I managed to get $20/month port on credit for $69/month plan

  • +1

They have done this for $79 in the past with same data and $1250 off Samsung phone or a new s22.

That was a better deal as I was able to return the phone and get a gift card for $1250

    • +1

I think they had this deal plus the trade in bonus only on Samsung phones. Pretty sweet to stack of all offers: $69 pm for 12m, $600 trade-on bonus plus $600 GC plus whatever the trade-in value.

  • Are you just porting out for a month on a random carrier and porting back into Telstra? Is that still required if you're already with Telstra?

    • +2

Yes, need to port out for at least 30 days. Alternatively, get a new number and bother your ass out of it via live chat to get Telstra to ‘merge’ the two numbers.

      • Thanks, that sounds a little easier!

        • Just beware; someone on Whirlpool mentioned (as a result of an OzBargainer posting there as well about an issue with the merging) that Telstra are no longer doing this with any plans coming from JB HiFI signups.

          https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/31j4jxw9

          • @stigsphilocousin: FYI, the thread you linked was 2yrs ago and Telstra did this for me on x2 acc last year and i had to wait about 4hr not days.

            • +1

@vash5: Fair enough but still, it would still be a good idea to approach it with caution as its still against the spirit of the offer and the T&Cs anyway.

      • Is 30 days still requirement ? It's have 10 days for me and want to know if it's worth going to JB store if it's not going to be successful ?

        • Don’t bother, the staff at JB have been instructed to strictly enforce this requirement.

          • @FOX: Just curious to know how JB HIFI knows if I have ported out for more than 30 days ? Because Telstra for sure do not impose this rule. I can buy any plan from Telstra website right now without 30 day rule, so this must be JB HIFI thing. But curious to know as to how they know ?

            • +1

@sunnynsitian: You can sign up to the JB Hi-Fi plan too no problem but they won’t give you a voucher.
If it hasn’t been >30 days off Telstra, then you aren’t treated as a new sign up, and JB doesn’t get reimbursed for their voucher

  • Anyone know what speeds you'd get on this plan? And would it include 5g?

    • Full telstra network including 5g

  • Has anyone heard of the deal where we get iPhone 14 pro where we get $20 off per month on a plan?

  • This deal works out to be $49 a month.

If you dont need that amount of data, the standard $69 a month with $300 card works out to be $44 a month.

The best deal was the $69 a month with a $400 card that was available a couple of weeks ago. This works out to be $35.66 a month.

Even better was the $500 gift card on a $69 plan but I havent seen that for a while.

    • I still remember the $500 gift card on an 80gb $69 plan, but you can get a $20 port-in bonus. Comes down to $588 for the 12 months.

      • I got mine $69 per month with 200gb data per month and $500 gc on an 12 month plan about a year ago. I’m now unsure want to go to Optus when mine ends but if I do I will sign up with Optus it will be before I replace my driver’s licence and all other compromised personal information so if Optus had another cyberattack again they will get my old personal information.

    • Maybe worth a wait till Black Friday deals

  • Is there a way to replace my nbn with this? A router that takes the sim card and also has an ethernet port so I can connect my eero mesh network to it?

    • You should be able to get a Telstra Smart Modem 2 pretty cheap secondhand.

      • Cool. But does the SIM work or they block because they know its not a phone?

        • no you can use your sim in any unlocked or telstra locked modem, they dont care!

even the Vodafone ULTIMATE PLAN with 30gb tethering limit in the terms isnt enforced in AU, only when overseas ~ so its unlimited at full speed data and ive used it on 4G and its upto 120Mbs ~ having siad that i went back to felix mobile as 20mbs is fast enough

  • Is this viable as your only internet at home including streaming 4k to one tv via hotspot? Or do you get bandwidth congestion at peak times that screw that idea up? (of course subject to the reception you might get in your area).

Currently doing that temporarily off Amaysim and it's ok so I'd assume Telstra would be ok too. I can manage internet and phone within the 300Gb (though it's a shame it doesn't have a data bank).

Shame as I've just bought the $180 180GB woolies sim (not got shipped email for it yet) and a fancy new phone yet to come (which I could cancel and get from JB). Was going to get NBN as well, but this Telstra alone would be a lot cheaper.

  • This plan got data sharing plan I would had joined. Otherwise no-no

    • wait what, so you can't use the sim data on a laptop and other devices only the phone the sim is connected to?

      • you can do mobile hotspot. Just can’t add another sim to same account with data sharing.

      • You can tether or hotspot - but you can't buy another $10/10GB or $15/5GB SIM and share the 300GB across two SIMs
