Breville The Barista Express Impress $761.10 ($747.12 with eBay Plus) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ The Good Guys eBay

80
OCT202210OCT202212

Was looking at options for coffee machines with the latest buzz about coffee machines especially after the breville amazon deals.
For me the idea of literally requiring a dedicated scale and grinder is a bit much so was interested in an AIO type semi-automatic machine.

The most recent price at ozbargain with decent amount of upvotes was at $746.10

Currently for ebay plus members with code OCT202212 brings it down to $747.12 - however if you are like me you may also have a stash of discounted ebay g/c's you can use towards it making the price a bit better.

I will note unlike the original deal, this does not qualify for good guys store credit - but I personally dont care about it as I have nothing else I want to buy from TGG within the expiration date of credit anyway (10 days).

Excludes: QLD Far North, WA Remote.

Look at the Aldi catalogue for Wednesday 12th October - has one with a 3 yr warranty (and Aldi satisfaction return) for $399. Not sure Breville gives you a 3 yr warranty….

Not sure Breville gives you a 3 yr warranty….

They just give you a device that lasts longer than 12 months instead. Aldi gear just ends up being too much trouble. You get the money back but then you need to go find a replacement…

      That machine lists the following:

"3 temperature settings: low (65°C), medium (70°C) and high (75°C)"

All three of the temperatures are way too low to brew espresso.

Never ceases to amaze me how you get down voted on OzB for merely pointing out an alternative that is cheaper… Oh well

      • +1

as if they didn't give you the reasons for the down vote?

      • long warranty is always good but it's not the defining factor when buying an espresso machine. The Aldi one was posted recently and the general consensus there was keep your money

Woud it be better to add $4X to get the NEW Breville BES878BTR4JAN1 the Barista Pro - Black Truffle https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124809303280?epid=12043965533&ha… ?

    • Yea, definitely. But I missed this one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/719767 which came with a $75 CR cashback and Breville official father's day promotion gift package.

    • this is what i've been debating tbh, the Pro is defo a better machine but I'm not a fan of manual tamping. Leaning more towards the Express Impress as it 'learns' with you

      • Not much magic, Not like 980, this one is just a simple tamper with a pressure sensor. I've been to JB hifi and had a look. The steam is not as strong as 878.

  • This is an upgrade of Breville 870, I expect it to be like $600+. Probably I will wait until Christmas to see if there is any promotion.

  • Got this machine and love it - not worth over $700 imo though, would wait for cheaper if possible

    Was 599 at costco

    • I think the costco is a bes 870 with a modified milk frother

      • Modified exhaust. Stutututu. Ill check when i go there later today

      • +2

BES875: It comes with the thermo jug (milk jug has a temperature strip on it). Otherwise the same as the regular BES870 (Barista Express).

  • how's this one compared to the Sunbeam that's on special from amazon?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/728499

    • Roughly apples to oranges.

Either you read the feature lists first or you need to be more specific. Eg. this one has a built-in grinder and semi-automatic tampering. The other one requires a separate grinder, but has a dual boiler and a larger basket.

      • Not a dual boiler brother. Its a dual thermoblock

$749 on this website. Take another 10% off with zip pay free delivery too. It also has the express model for $495. https://thesandeshshop.com/collections/manual-coffee-machine…

    • I was interested to buy this (https://thesandeshshop.com/collections/manual-coffee-machine…) but did not know how genuine this seller is (as never heard about them before), Do you have any idea

      • +1

No I never heard of them but it looks legitimate. I just bought the BES870, I'll find out in a week.

        • Good Luck and please let us know how did you go.

        • Did you receive your item?? Order through them and now am stressing. Used Zip so first payment only comes off in November.

          • @BobHope45: How did you go with them? Are you able to track your item?

        • How did you go with them? Are you able to track your item?

        • Any updates from anyone else who used this site? I ordered a week ago from this site but haven't had any updates since I spoke to them on live chat which has been offline for the last few days

          • @Stephen-M: Any updates mate?

            • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Not looking good. They said it would be dispatched a week ago and I still haven't heard anything so I requested a refund. But since they've been unresponsive since last week I'm disputing via Zip. Doesn't seem like the shop is legit.

              • @Stephen-M: dang i was half considering at the time but too many red flags.

                • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yeah I was borderline - it's the most convincing fake I've come across I reckon. Would have avoided it if it didn't have Zip and its payment protection - I'm assuming they'll sort these guys out :)

                  • +1

@Stephen-M: At least zip sounds like it will help - unlike Klarna with the other guy below

                    • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yes absolute scam. Also using the Zip dispute approach but also reported via ACCC scam watch.

I tried contact the listed number which was always "off or out of service". I then used the support email listed on the website and received a delayed shipment response. The support centre is an obvious external agency that is based internationally. When I followed up they sent a similar template response just with the dates changed. When I called them out on being a scam and demanded a refund, they went silent and did not respond. Part of this exhange was me calling out their fake Katherine, NT business address.

After this email exchanged they subsequently changed it to 155 Victoria Road, Pearcedale, Vic. This is another fake address that is actually a flower farm. They also removed the listed ABN for the business from the website.

                      • @BobHope45: Yeah I also noticed the change of address and phone number. I mentioned that to Zip so hopefully they realise it's fraudulent and remove themselves as a payment option. Fingers crossed we get our accounts credited, Zip have been helpful so far. But if not I'll be having words with Zip, since that's the point of payment protection after all….

                        • @Stephen-M: I'm on the same train. Zip are giving the owner until the 08/11 to respond. They need to take a level of ownership as they essentially allowed a scam to be associated with their company by not doing their due diligence.

                          • @BobHope45: Yep exactly right. For my case they'll wait until 3/11 for them to respond, so let's see!

      • +3

Did a quick ABN search and sole trader that isn't registered for GST.

      • I did a google search on their address and it doesn't seems legit - 42 Katherine Terrace, Katherine South NT 0850.

        Anyone heard of them?

        • The domain seems to be registered in Reykjavik.. would steer well clear of them.

    • Hey

Yes I saw that in my original search but thought it wasn’t worth the dramas dealing with a no name source even if I did use payment protection, it’s not worth the drama.

Also no way to verify if breville will have any issues dealing with warranty eg if the goods are bought as parallel imports like what Costco sometimes has etc

  • So whats the main differences between this and the normal express?

  • Coincidently was looking at breville coffee machines today at JBHIFi and noticed these machines come with gifts worth over $200 (St Ali coffee beans, milk jug, tamper and grind waste bin)…i can’t find anything about it online tho

    • Interesting - st Ali tho - I’d tell jb to keep the beans.

  • Just spent $366 repairing my BES870 - wish I saw this before getting it repaired!!

    • Spewing mate, if they quoted me even $300 I’d just buy a new machine for 2 years peace of mind warranty lol

      • True. I was going to call them back after I agreed at 5pm Friday. Of course first thing Monday morning - "YOUR MACHINE IS READY".

        fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

        • +1

they prob saw you write the reply and though oh no u donttttttttt

  • I order from this site https://thesandeshshop.com using Klarna on 3rd October and there are no updates - no delivery - the phone is off.
It may not be a scam as things look ok but seem it's a new business with no backend contracts with manufacturers.
I have requested a dispute through my bank and Klarna

    • I’d say I’m surprised.. but I’m not.
      Hope it works out mate.

  • I am surprised by Klarna's response - "when you make an order with Klarna, we pay the full cost of the order to the merchant. As such, to receive a refund for this order, The Sandesh Shop will have to refund Klarna the money so that we can redistribute it to you. "

I knew there were some red flags but generally banks will not release payments to merchants for 10-15 days so not sure what Klarna does

    • Yikes - I await to hear of your adventure in the forums when/if you get a refund.
