  • 1 x Full CO2 Cylinder (makes up to 60 litres)
  • 1 x 1 Litre Reusable BPA Free Bottle

See previous deal for $39.99, which paid homage to previous deal for $45.

Probably matching this deal from Kogan.

Anyway! Since the gas cylinder itself seems to retail for ~ $35 - $40 at most places, for what's included, it's a decent deal and compatible with Sodastream cylinders.

  • Sodaking vs Sodastream?

Have one of these and no problems. Plus their customer service is great. Had to order a new gas cylinder phoned them and they arranged it all with my local IGA.

    • Ditto. Entire range including machine, bottles, gas cylinders, gas cylinder exchange (effectively refills) and syrups supported by availability through Spotlight & Big W..

    showing as $55.98

Sodaking is an Australian owned company, Sodastream is Israeli with their plant in illegal Palestinian occupied territory

    • -1

Actually they had their plant in Palestinian territory (West Bank) and hired Palestinians, who enjoyed working there. It was one of the few places where Israelis and Palestinians mixed in a happy, harmonious way. Which is what the world needs.

The factory has now moved out of the West Bank.

Don't spout propaganda that you don't know anything about.

After 10+ years of Sodastream shenanigans, we ended up biting the bullet on a tap with integrated, chilled sparkling water.

The costs are anywhere from $2,200 (+ installation) upwards. TIP: Ask your local plumber to buy it for you. Ours did, and it saved hundreds on the best price we could get from Appliances Online.

We went with the Australian-made ZIP HydroTap G5 and love it.

What kind of shenanigans are you speaking of?

      from $2,200

That can buy a massive amount of Soda water using Sodastream, especially if you go with a CO2 bottle.

Still … if you're happy with it.

Broken plastics, bottle returns etc. Typo in my original reply. We've had a Sodastream in our house since since 2001 (20+ years)

Yeah - if it was only about a financial ROI, it would be a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng play that would make domestic rooftop solar panel investment look like a quick win. Far more about the convenience and reliability.

        • Broken plastics, bottle returns etc.

I've been using since ~2013. Never had bottle issues, but my first unit died a couple of years ago, after 2000+ bottles fizzed. Fortunately, I had a spare machine that had low usage, so using that now.

Far more about the convenience and reliability.

I guess there's always a tipping point for people.

Having hooked-up a 6KG CO2 bottle, I don't much worry about convenience any more. Just a matter of getting the bottle refilled/swapped.

        • We have that at work. Looks like the medium size gas bottles they use are not refillable which is not good for the environment.

How do you inject all those lovely sugary syrups, though? :)

      • In the 20 years we've had Sodastream units we've only purchased syrups twice - and both in the same transaction!

It was some sort of 2-for-1 deal at Big-W. Grabbed the Pepsi Max and Diet Lemon Lime & Bitters. I found both flavours really underwhelming compared to the real thing. Once I'd used them I never went back for another.

You're actually supposed to add the syrup after the water is carbonated 👍
