I would like to know where the losing 10mm sockets joke came from

I can't recall losing any sockets ever, let alone a 10mm. Some of my sets are 30 plus years old and still complete. And the sets I had before that were still complete when I sold them.

I have lost some of my marbles though…….. :)

Common size on cars and motorbikes, vehicles in general. Small too so easy to pocket.
My work's overseas factories constantly have 10mm and 13mm spanners and sockets disappear. People take them to work on their scooters and motorbikes, keep them as part of their carried toolkit.
I too don't lose my tools, but it is when you lend it out or have it as part of a shared environment you will find these common sizes disappear.

      • Fair enough. I have worked in common environments too, but have always been very careful to return whatever tool I may have borrowed promptly, and cleaner than when I borrowed it.

I know it's a common size, owned Japanese motorcycles since the late 70's. I guess it was drilled into me by my tradie father to look after tools from a very early age. My brother is also a tradie, and the same too. Or maybe we are all just OCD, lol.

Your very lucky , something I'd like to have had around me when younger 💯

I'm pretty good at dropping stuff, lost stuff that way.

My 10mm socket is currently somewhere in my dash. Dropped it when swapping out my head unit & it vanished entirely & forever.

      • +4

vanished entirely & forever , and bloody annoying knowing it's in there somewhere 😳

  • Any recommendation for a handle?

Bahco was good value for a decent brand last I checked. Sold at proper tool shops.

Haven’t lost one yet but now I can

  • Nice, thanks!

  • Was once working on my TJ Magna with my brand spanking new socket set.
A 12mm fell into some random hole in the chassis in the engine bay and my new socket set was never the same.

The beauty of this is it includes a 10mm square head that may fit your transmission drain plug (Japanese cars probably).

Not best to use a 3/8th square head on those because they’re actually 10mm.

    • Ahhhhh, I always wondered why my 3/8 socket driver didn't seem to be a great fit in there !!!

      Thanks for this 👌

      I don’t think that’s correct, it looks to be a 10mm hex?

      • +1

That's is correct. Some people just shouldn't be around tools.

      • Opps, didn't look close enough. Yeap this will not work.

        • All good, now that I know the 10mm square is a thing, I'll hunt one down.

Thought a lipstick deal at first glance.

  • is the set a mix of 1/2 3/8 and 1/4" drive? (2 + 5 + 3) ?

    • +1

Looks like it is if you go by the width of the sections on the rack.

  • Haha! All the 10mm are there.

Will buy a set just for collecting.

    SUPERFAMILY Working now 25% off

    • ^ worked for me.

  • Booyah. $7.50. Bargain.

  • Makes good pressy for DIY/mechanics friends.

Last time I bought like 20 of this to give away, was very popular.

  • Does this come with a socket rail?

    • then you'll lose them all in one go!

    • Socket rails are usually for all the same square drive size. This has one with the three sizes pictured so I would guess yes.

    • Yes it does come with the rail

  • Thanks OP, just bought 3. one set for me, one for a mate, and a spare for when I lose the first set

  • Not seeing this at 10? Anyone else?

  • Perfect. Got a set
    Thanks

  • Thanks OP, just ordered a set for $7.50 C&C.

  • Just picked mine up, didn't check the specs and pleasantly surprised to find it came on a rack. Great buy

  • +1

Update picked mine up and was really impressed with the quality so I ordered another two for gifts. $7.50 each with code SUPERFAMILY

  • Thanks OP! Picked up mine Sat 29/3 with the SUPERFAMILY discount - $7.50!! :)

  • They've needed to do a 10pack of 10mm sockets for ages - I'd buy the shit out of that.

    • Why can't you just buy ten of the 10mm sockets yourself, rather than waiting for them to package 10 of them for you?

      • 99% of the time I've actually gone to buy a 10mm socket they've been sold out in either 1/2" drive or 3/8" drive. So getting an assortment for $10 is pretty good.
