Do you feel better now that you got that out of your system?

      • +4

You can never underestimate how amazing it feels to make corrections to data for the right type of person, haha.
        Bliss.

        • +3

Just felt like someone going to the effort of screenshotting, cropping, uploading and formatting the comment just to correct a single letter typo to be over the top. I guess not!

          • @Hinee: Correct!
The 10seconds of snipping tool is much less effort than the joy of seeing correct data.

There's whole career paths dedicated to it! Looking over existing data, comparing against the raw input to ensure no errors.
Heck, every coder in existance practically does this full time.

            Ctrl + V

If I posted something on a public forum and made a spelling error I would love it if someone pointed it out before too many people noticed 🫣

            • @sbcbakedbeans: Not quite - the image had to be manually uploaded to their ozb profile (unless there's a method I'm unaware of) which was the bit of effort that actually surprised me enough to make a comment.

            • +2

@sbcbakedbeans: I really don't mind the correction (thanks @Empharand), but we have a Report button for such things.

  • +1

Perfect, been waiting on a sale.

  • thanks OP, needed to get a few things but wasn't really tempted with the recent 10% sale

    • +2

Good call. 10% is garbage. 20-30% always comes up at some point or another, particularly brand/category specific sales.

      • +1

damn i did the 10% thing last night on $100 worth. I feel like cancelling

    • +1

please share, what are you we getting?

  • Any recommendations on car battery as I have to replace mine so that I can use this deal. Thank you

    • Depends on car, usage, location etc.
For me (Mazda 2,1.5L) in late 2024, I purchased (and had them fit) this(supercheapauto.com.au) and price match at a physical store nearby, no hassles and great service.

      • Mazda 3, location Melbourne

        • Include year, generation and model for rawm so at least they can get the right battery cos there’s three/four generations of Mazda 3, some petrol or diesel.

      • I just bought a Century 85 last week for Mazda Cx5 with I-stop function and they couldn't install it. Had to find a local mechanic to install it.

        • Not a problem. Worst case senario istop stops working. And, that is good news.

Unlike a BMW that requires the charging process to be reset in the computer.

    • -2

I got burned by SCA before when buying a car battery (I also bought on sale / discount).

Input my car rego and was offered a Century 600cca battery. I didn't know much about car batteries and trusted the SCA website.

Turns out I needed a 750cca battery. Still worked for a couple of years but it was undersized. Had I bought the correct battery, may have lasted more years.

I'll never buy a car battery from SCA again. I might not ever buy anything from them. They are just consistently more expensive than other places such as Autobarn, Sparesbox or Amazon.

      • +3

The size of the battery is measured in Ah. CCA is "Cold Cranking Amps" measured at -17°C. In Australia, CCA doesn't matter as much as long as it's close enough because you won't see sub-zero temperatures often. When buying a battery in Australia, I check the Ah is close to OEM and the battery type is the same. If you want your new batteries to last as long as the OEM battery, you need to reset battery information in your car's computer, as the alternator runs harder the older the battery is. Your new battery may have been charged aggressively by the car thinking it was still running the old battery.
        .

        • +1

thanks for the info - i had no idea about resetting the computer when installing a new car battery - I was just going to replace the old one and head off on my way

do you know whether Super Cheap will reset the car computer when they install batteries?

    • +3

Anything but a Century, they're rubbish these days.

  • +1

Nice! Time to get that roof rack now.

    • Was thinking the same for roof box. The Yakima Easytrips are so much more aesthetically pleasing than the Thule Force XT's. That's subjective though.

      • Just started looking at roof boxes. Any other advice?

        • +1

Not really. It's a personal preference but I usually avoid anything made in China, which are most cheaper brands like Prorack, Rhino Rack etc.

Thule Roofboxes are made in Sweden, and Yakima Roofboxes are made in the EU. So they are the two brands I look to. Price-wise they're very similar with Thule just being a tad more expensive. But these are big masses of plastic travelling down highways with your valuables in them. I would go for quality.

That being said, they're usually cross-compatible. I use Thule Evo Wingbars as my roof rack system but know for a fact that the Yakima Easytrip roof boxes are compatible with them. The Easytrips, as I said before, just suit my aesthetical preferences.

          • @tacos4brekkie: Agree with the choice. Can confirm the code works after price beat. Ordered the Easytrip 470 Gloss for $700. Bargain.

    • Rav4

  • I need a jack and battery tender, what’s good

  • Can this be stacked with price matches?

    • Typically x% off at checkout were the only ones that stacked, but i wouldnt fault you for trying.

      • +1

I see, generally this seems to defeat the purpose then, I’ve found with most items at SCA I can get a better price matching with a competitor as opposed to a discount from full price like this.

    • +2

Just tried with mine. Price matched via online chat. Then applied SUPERFAMILY coupon. I got 25% off the price matched price. Win!

    • +7

They did 20-50% off storewide on the same date last year.

      • And stacked with 1/2 priced air compressor last year.

    • +6

Companies mark up 50% to take off 50% and make it seem like a deal, your reading too much into it. The price discrimination of whats cheaper often makes zero sense.

      • +2

Companies mark up 50% to take off 50% and make it seem like a deal

But it is a deal. If they mark up 50% then take off 50% it's still a 25% discount.

    • +13

I think Super Retail Group will be just fine 😅

      • +4

        😶‍🌫️

    • +3

What you don't understand is their prices have a lot of profit margin. They are always having sales, currently there's 30% off ute tool boxes, 25% off the ToolPro 12v range, 25% off Nulon 5l oils and a bunch of other sales even 50% off.

They are always a revolving door of sales, and a few times a year they do sitewide. You can often get things cheaper throughout the year with % off a category sale. Like this https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/ridge-ryder-ridge-ryder-…

$1,399 RRP currently down to $599, during the sitewide sale it will be $1,050.

    • there is enough margin in there for them to discount so 'heavily' and STILL make a profit.
Plus they can tempt consumers into getting something that they were maybe on the fence about, purely because it is now 'on sale'.

  • +5

Its more of a concern local automotive parts stores have closed.

  • thanks OP, not sure what to buy but will see on the day

  • +7

Woolworths currently has 20x points on TCN Him gift cards, which can be used at Supercheap Auto.

  • Any idea if it stacks on the Club Member price?

    Thanks

    • +1

Often the Club Price will be removed and it will just be 25% off RRP.

      • Thanks can confirm, discount code doesnt work when Club prices are active but when signed out of account(no club price) the discount code works perfectly

  • +4

Does this work for special orders and clearance items?

    • Just tried for a clutch and yes

  • Wonder if it's worth pulling the trigger on this battery box now or waiting if it gets discounted further?

Quadlock should be a good discount

    • the retail on most of quadlock is already higher than the price direct from quadlock anyways

      • e.g. case for my phone $50, after discount $42.5. Can find for $40 from other places

  • Any recommendations for a reliable and affordable car battery. I need to replace mine so I can take advantage of this deal.
My car is a Mazda 3 Sedan, Manual, Petrol, and I generally drive around 50 km a day.

    • Is it a skyactiv? If so you need to replace it with an EFB battery

      • I am not sure, sorry.
Very little knowledge on cars and stuff.

        https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/century-century-hi-perfo…

        https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-performance-car-…

Could you please advise which is better?

        • Well you need to be sure so that the recommend battery can be provide. If in doubt, go to Supercheap and ask on Saturday. They can often install the new one for as well. You don't seem confident about cars, so get them to do it. DIFY(supercheapauto.com.au)

        • +2

Does your engine cut out when the vehicle comes to a stop? If so you need an EFB battery, which would be this(supercheapauto.com.au) from Supercheap

You don't want to put a standard battery in there because they cannot handle the rate the car will try to recharge it, resulting in a massively reduced life

    • They cannot change some of the batteries from Mazda (ie CX30), just check with the staff before you buy it.

  • Not as good as last year 20%-40% and no 1/2 price air compressors.

  • +3

Looked at a Tarp yesterday, since I was within a few hundred metres of a store- gee even with 25 % off still dearer than Bunnings.

Won't bother buying any SRG giftcards in the future. ( unless they have a proper sale)

    • +1

      Wrong thread?

  • Would any recommend the torque wrenches here?

Looking to get one of the small ones for my carbon bike, there is always mixed reviews on it all!!

  • +6

    Code works already =)

  • Pfft went to buy Tyre shine, but it’s cheaper at big W even with the 25% discount.

    • +1

You can have them price match then use the 25% off coupon after that. Should be a decent saving then.

      • Right you are! Thanks for that

  • Sigh…a bunch of things i bought off clearance a week ago has dropped in price :(. Do they still credit you the difference if you bought something 2 weeks prior to the sale, or is that just a NZ thing?

    • +1

      Ask them.
Check their returns policy first as well.
As a fallback you may be able to buy the same stuff with the discount applied and just return the original order (or the new items using the old receipt if you've already starting using the first lot).

Let us know how you go.

  • Can you pay with multiple gift cards?

    • Yes I just did in store.

One was a TCN giftcard and the other was SRG giftcard

      • +1

Thanks, used 3 on checkout online

  • FYI it doesn’t seem to stack with price beat, just tried with a few items now and got told by customer service online it’s either the price beat price or 25% off and price beat was lower in all cases there…

    • +2

Never mind it can be stacked! I just had to remove the coupon from my cart, get them to price match then add the coupon back in. Saved 180 dollars from a 300 dollar order this way ending up at 120!

  • Looks like they are changing prices around as we speak. I had some Penrite MC-4ST oil in my cart that was discounted to $56, but the superfamily code wasn't working. Now the code is working but the oil is back at full price for $75, so the code just brings it back down to $56 again.

  • +7

Heads up, can stack with price beat.

    Price beat via chat.
Have items in cart, chat will apply price beat prices.
    Add discount code.

Add 3x TCN converted Supercheap gift cards

    WIN!

Got a clutch super cheap! Special order too

  • I bought the Kenwood DMX7522S for $360!

    Price beat Frankie's $490 to $480.

    Chat online to price beat.

Add coupon for another 25% off to $360

  • +2

    Subtotal $638.93
    Discount - $320.20
    Shipping Cost $0.00
    Order Total $318.73

Price Beat then used the code. Thank you OP!

  • I just tried to use it with mixed paint and I bought and they excluded the discount on it because it excludes in store services. I will contact them online see if that can be clarified. Seems their website indicates it is a service

  • Have the fixed the price beat + code?

I am getting "Coupon code SUPERFAMILY cannot currently be added to your cart"

edit - ah it was an excluded brand when i found the original flyer, but not listed in OPs post

  • Looks like they went early with tomorrow's 25% club price for servicing items like oil and brakes..
Was about to price beat some full price DBA brakes in my cart and then suddenly they now have 25% off which isn't cheaper than competitor and I can't stack the coupon.. How sketchy is that?!

    • +1

And 30 mins later they have undone the early discounts. Got my stacked discount.

      • You should've price beat somewhere first then apply the 25% code
