  • "Only the RICH can afford sparkling water. Let the POOR drink from the tap."

  • Are these anywhere near like the bottled stuff? I tried SS once and it drained the CO2 bottle after about a week trying to get halfway decent bubble water.

    • It's even better than bottled stuff. Real spicy. I spark up once everyday on my SS. I go through a bottle every 2 months.

      • Wonder what I was doing wrong?

        • Did you fill the bottle up all the way to the line?

The air hose has to be submerged.

          • @The Value: Yes mate, I did. I grew up with one of the really old school machines with the glass bottles, so am familiar with their operation. Maybe I got a dud cylinder as it seemed to run out really quickly. In order to get what I considered appropriate bubbles it need to make 3-4 good "farts". Ended up selling it after the first cylinder was depleted.

@Captain Yobbo: Probably a dud cylinder. I've had a sodastream for about 2 years and each cannister lasts me about 40-45litres (about 3 months).

            • @Captain Yobbo: You should have mentioned you grew up with one.

        • Look up the physics of CO2 absorption in water. You want super cold water. Press the button, and leave it for a few minutes. Even better if you can turn the machine upside down and back a few times.

If you use room temp tap water, press the button, then open it straight away. Then most of that gas will just vent off.

    • I run it 3 times about 3 seconds each. It's not as carbonated as store bought stuff when you first open it, but I prefer the less carbonated sodastream result.

      • That sounds like a lot. I do one pump for about 4 seconds and it's super fizzy

        • I think it's about what they recommend. But I'm not worried about efficiency as I'm running off a 6kg cylinder.

Am I the only one that thought it was a banned product from the small photo? 🤔

Anything can be a 'banned product' if you're brave enough.

    • Yeah I am pretty sure the fact it looks like "a guitar" is no accident.
