[Price Error] Alienware 38" Curved Gaming Monitor - AW3821DW $249.01 Delivered @ Dell » All Comments

    • yep, mine has that

    • It's because you OWE dell one monitor

  • +2

What we need is for someone to put through a 'legitimate' purchase now and see how long until a confirmation email comes through - any volunteers?

    • +2

Let's everyone pitch in $10 for the volunteer.

      • i think each pitch 0.001 cent already more than enough (22603 clicks)

        • 1 milicent??

        • Probably closer to about $0.08 at the $1750, but considering a fraction of the clicks were able to purchase, who are really the only ones invested in knowing, it would be higher.

    • +3

I've been eyeing this monitor and the 38wn95c for months now and almost cried after missing out on this. Personally I would have probably purchased at its current $1700ish price, but I'd feel cheated at this point. Wound is still open but my wallet has closed up

      • Hahah, no one has got this deal yet. I myself ordered two, no money has been deducted yet, and not expecting them to Honor the Price error.

        • Would be cool if they honoured for those of you that managed to snag it (like with the lenovo thingo recently), but obviously up to them. I pounced on the lightsaber amazon error while others missed out, though i think that's also not going to be honoured

      • Talk to newbo, hes ordered 231 units, prepare a kidney or firstborn

      • No point really bad. They don't have to honour this.

  • +1

Anybody else have their order totally and legitmately Confirmed yet?

    • This is photoshopped

      • +1

        Very astute observation sir!

Although it was more element editing than photoshop to be fair.

  • I know not calling a customer service is 'golden rule', but I accidently called them due to payment issue using my debit card. The representative told me that they are going to 'honour' the item in same price as the price of this deal (or pricing error). I got a new order that went through the system and hoping the thing won't be cancelled.

    • +5

Oh please stop! I want to sleep tonight.

      • +1

        no sleep till monday

    • +2

      Uh huh šŸ™„ā€¦

    • +10

How do you accidentally call someone about a payment issue?

      • I thought payment didn't went through (which it was) and I called them for assistance to find out many people are experiencing similar issue. (Although the payment went through after a call)

        • +7

Send proof. Iā€™ll give you 10 mins to photoshop

        • +8

Did it end with everybody clapping?

          • @AmperSand: Only Albert Einstein clapped as he handed over a crisp $100% bill.

            • @pharcyde: Nothing like a crisp One Hundred Dollar Percent bill to keep you clapping

      • +5

If you've got fat fingers and you're really lucky…

Receiver: "Dell Support, How can I help you today"
Called: "Whoops, mis-dialed again… but since I'm here I wanted to fix a payment issue"

        • -1

Ngl, I thought my order will be canceled because of that call.

  • +16

This thread should be the new ozbargin homepage as I've lost count of the amount of times I've been here

    • +2

I've being watching this thread basically all through-out the day, its the most i've laughed on this site in ages

  • -3

    331 subscribed OzBargainers…

-1 If I made you come back to this thread.

    • +2

+1 if you made me come twice?

  • +1

    Got an order confirmation :)

    • BS. Proof?

    • +1

10 mins for photoshop your time starts nowā€¦

      • I already posted my heckin' confirmarino above but it was dismissed as a photoshop :(

    • +10

      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/385223/98196/confirmedā€¦
(I know there are lots of bs going around, so if you don't want to believe it, go ahead)

      • Looks legit.

      • that..indeed looks very legit…

        • Now to see if others get confirmed..

          • @xRianax: I wonder if this give us a precedent to work with. If one is confirmed and ships, shouldn't they all be eligible?

      • popcorn is ready!

      • +1

Might be the first legit one due to the luck of support call roulette! Or a very good troll effort.
If you are the only one to recieve one and the difference was calling support the butthurt here will be ripe and infinite.

        • +2

As mentioned above, I know there are lots of photoshops going around here and I am having a headaches for it. I do insist that my one is legit, but I don't mind if other people calls it bs.

        • To be fair, everyone else that has called has been clearly told this is a pricing issue.

          • +1

@thedean: That's why it's called support call roulette. Sometimes you get someone good, sometimes you don't.

      • Wow this is either brilliant photoshop work or it's legit.
Guess we'll all be waiting for more.

Can you tell us what time you ordered?

        • +2

I wrote the time down somewhere.

      • In production? Is that normal to see?

        • Yep

          • +2

@AmperSand: At least one person got lucky then. Guessing the rest will be cancelled. Even then, until it gets shipped, thereā€™s always the risk

      • +1

Open this page on mobile and show

      • +1

you couldn't have placed it at 8:24am. it would say the 15th of September as order time.

        I think it's fake.

        • +3

OP said that dell pushed through a second order to fix a payment issue above.

        • +2

They clearly said the revised order was placed at 5:01pm which would then change the time of the original order I would guess? I think it seems "too good to be true" as there would likely be some form of notice to all employees not to process these orders.

At this stage why not just give the benefit of the doubt to the one person with the most legitimate claim so far? (or at least most feasible)

      • Wish I could believe it but mine says "Received By Dell
Sep 15, 2022". Date is off by one for some reason and if you scroll up, others can concur.

        • The trolling going around is unreal. Probably the most entertaining ozbargain deal Iā€™ve seen in a while

          • +2

@SleepyBargainHunter: If this was entertaining for you (although I STILL INSIST my confirmation is real), I really appreciate it :)

        • +1

nah his was pushed through again manually by some dell peasant.

          • @ChickenDinner123: Must have missed that message in the sea of thousands but then I guess that story checks out.

      • Looks Juicy. Mine still at Received by Dell :(

      • I noticed your product has the correct price, unlike most of ours that has $0 item. What was your special method?

        • Calling customer service??? I don't know, ngl ĀÆļ¼¼(惄)/ĀÆ

          • @Equator Tree: I tried and got connected to India, she said she canā€™t do anything with the Internet receipt number (thereā€™s no order number at this stage while it hasnā€™t been confirmed)

            • @OzBerghainer: I called on the number on the invoice and it went through to the person I met, which lead to confirmation.

      • What time did u order?

    • time the order was placed?

      • +3

I placed at 8:24am this morning, but revised order was placed on 5:01pm (time in emails)

        • Oof, I placed mine about 10 mins after yours. Hopefully mine gets honored

        • I placed my order 1 min before you at 8:23am, still no order confirmation

        • +2

Mine was at 8:22am. But I think the real difference is the call and having some unaware support person push the order through.

        • Mine is 8.25 AM but no joy

        • +1

I ordered at 8:17am, no confirmation yet.

        • Ordered at 8:08am (or that's when the Order Received email arrived). Nada for me
Customer number is "-1" which doesn't bode well for me

        • Mine was at 8:16am.

        • Double-checked and I got an Order Received email at 8:18AM. Still no confirmation.

        • Got mine at 8:30am, lets hope

  • +6

    F5 Season

  • +6

Where were you when the Dell price error happened? What a time to be alive

    • +1

      Where am I now?

    • +9

The of England Queen died… tumbleweeds.
A dell monitor was mispriced and a bunch of people from ozbargain ordered it and they haven't even confirmed it yet???????? OMFG!!!! A tragedy!

      • +7

Lmao we need another public holiday so we can recover from this traumatic event

      • +2

WTF has Lizzie ever done to get me a bargain?

  • +1

    Any deals on psych counceling?

    • +1

Might need it if they leave us hanging over the weekend

      • more for ones that missed out.
        - Hi, Im Dick and I missed out on 38"
        - (all) Hi Dick.

  • +2

Iā€™ve got a strange feeling that theyā€™re gonna let this through. Especially after someone above has had their order move to the next stage. Why does it have to be a Friday, now the suspense will last over the weekend

    • +1

No chance. Person above lucked out due to a payment issue and dell rep not realising….

  • As "Equator Tree" explained, I asked the sales chat dude to requote my order for a delivery address update and then he processed a new order through the chat and its at confirmed, money came straight out.

    https://gofile.io/d/cQmlij

    • +2

      Hey, welcome to the club!

    • Should we all chat with them now to requote it xD

    • +3

Address amend army on the way

      • +1

        Chats not available

        • Long queue maybe

          • +1

@Smallman: took me 50 minutes get on the chat

            • @Thunder-Wombat: its past 6PM so they're not allowing anymore queues, it will just say closed over the phone and says no one available for chat

              • @meong: Chat is open till 11:30pm. Might take a few attempts till it actually connects. Took me 15

                • @Thunder-Wombat: Only on Messenger that stays open until 11.30PM… The Dell page chat is closed already…

                  • @meong: Sales chat

You will get this message "Unfortunately, there are no agents available right now. Please visit Contact Page for available hours, and other options to contact us." But keep trying and you will get someone, same message i got earlier and just kept trying till i got someone

                    • @Thunder-Wombat: Hello again,

I have managed to get in by selecting "Business" instead and got a Sales Assistance immediately.

I have followed through similar script above for checking my address and nothing was changed in the end but managed to get the order re-issued, paid immediately, and now showing as "Confirmed" with ETA 20th of September 2022

                • @Thunder-Wombat: Can u just use the same address or actually have to change the delivery address???

            • +2

@Thunder-Wombat: Surely all of us in their chat will ruin it

              • @rhyso: Potentially, but if I was lucky enough to get it. I want all fellow ozbargainers to get it so gotta share and run the gaunlet that it still might fail

              • @rhyso: yeah don't even bother trying the chat thing. its closed now. they will still need to make a decision on monday re. everyones orders that havent been confirmed

        • Got through to the chat, ask them to change the address, then a lady from Dell Sydney called through telling me can't be done as a decision is still yet to be made whether to honor this or not.

        • +1

I got through to the chat and then got a call and the guy told me the order never actually went through since there was a system error and that it'll be cancelled

          • +1

            @Slothalicious: Same here

          • +1

@Slothalicious: Is that guy's name Joseph? I have got the same response.

            • +1

@Nathw: Yes correct it was Joseph, obviously not as cool as Muzeeb šŸ˜‚

              • +1

@Slothalicious: I told him that some orders had been confirmed and he said all of them would be cancelled lol.

                • +1

@Nathw: So close chat if you get Joseph….and start again.

    • -1

My order just moved from confirmed to production

      • +3

My order just moved to delivered.

  • Will they pull a Lenovo and ship :O

  • +1

Is there any possibility that order can be cancelled even if you got order confirmed?

    • +6

      Yup

      • Chances get better as it progresses but you're not home free until it's at your doorstep

    • As long as a product is not in transit they can cancel.

  • +4

Are we reallllly gonna have to wait till monday to get confirmations D:

  • Would a GeForce GT 1030 run this @ 144hz?

    • +9

No, but you can use the money you saved buy a new GPU haha

    • Yes. Minesweeper.

      • +1

I don't mean for any solid gaming. Just productivity. My 1030 is running my optiplex currently 1440p @144hz on a 27 LG Ultragear

        • If you mean productivity like Microsoft Office apps, why do you need 144Hz anyway? Standard 60Hz is all you need.

    • +1

      GT 1030 DVI Max Resolution : 1920x1200 , HDMI Max Resolution:4096x2160 , and this Monitor 3840 x 1600 (DisplayPort: 144 Hz, HDMI: 85 Hz)

So in my opinion for everyday office works it will work but you'll need a HDMI to Displayport cable to get 144 Hz , because through HDMI to HDMI you'll get 85 Hz.

  • +6

    Game Over

Just got a call from the Dell representative saying they had a system glitch this morning and they received about 360+ orders and all the orders will be cancelled even the status is shown confirmed

    • Nooooooooo, Don't tell us

    • +7

      You shut your mouth!

      • +3

Lmao, you can call them yourself to find out. None of the orders will be processed, that's exactly what the guy told me on the phone

        • Don't let anyone say "NO" to you when they have no authority to say "YES"

    • +1

Thanks. I can now sleep tonight.

    • For those who don't believe. You can contact them thought online chat until 11:30pm, pick business products instead of home.

      https://www.dell.com/en-au/lp/contact-us

      • yes, this worked for me and managed to get this to "Confirmed" status. However, they only allow card payment, no Paypal option so get your card ready!

        • I went to 'chat with us online' and if you choose existing order it advises not open and directs me to my orders page…
If you say 'new order' then choose Home > Alienware it takes you to a sales person who said they can't edit an existing order… in case that was a bad rep i tried again and the next two times it tells me there are no agents available. … did you

          • @Elijha: Click the blue Contact Us chat button below, do not choose Order Support, choose Business, then I chose Systems… after that I simply started by the IRN number that I have from the existing order and asked them to look into it then follow the same script as shared above like re-issuing order so I can pay immediately, etc

    • Great

    • What number did they call from?

  • +1

Iā€™ve just placed an order for some company computers and Iā€™ve got the confirmation email within 20 minutes. I wouldnā€™t put my hopes high for my Alienware monitor order to go through as there is still no confirmation email.

  • +5

Just called support, seems like they are fully aware of the issue. They told me there are a lot of discussions and they would make a decision if they are going to honour it by the end of the day. Fingers crossed!

    • +3

Someone submit this to the news stations, this would be legitimately funny if it went public

      • +1

Nothing funny to be reported on the news station. Rather stay here and read the comments, it's funnier.

      • +1

Remember what happened to the 7-Eleven price lock last time when it went to 7 news?

    • but supports closed?

      • Closes at 11:30 monday to friday

  • @Thunder-Wombat hope you didnt chat with 'Muzeeb' xD

    • ?

      • +1

he will be wondering why everyones changing their address for an alienware monitor!

    • I just started a chat with him lol, is there anything I need to know?

      • Just spoke with Muzeeb and changed the address šŸ˜„šŸ˜„šŸ˜„

        Update:

Congratulations! Your order has been processed successfully, you will receive the order acknowledgement email shortly
        6:57 PM
I will need to raise the request with care team
we will update it by Monday

So I won't receive the acknowledgement email shortly?

        order confirmation email sent already
address change , you need to wait till monday
        Dell Advisor - Muzeeb
        No worries, thanks legend

        • Nice! He actually went afk on me so I had to close the window and queue again. šŸ˜”

  • Looks like I dodged a cancelation bullet.

  • +15

I hope this comes through as I just sold mine on eBay and I need to ship within 3 days.

    • +4

You posted it on ebay before the order was confirmed?

    • +1

its only going to cost u $100 to ship it :D

  • +2

    Card charged!

    • Luckyyy, still waiting here for mine to be confirmed..

    • +2

yeah but you will get a refund mate.

    • grats, and love your username btw, see you in the queue..

    • How did you do that?

  • Of course I managed to miss the biggest deal I've seen on OzBargain since I discovered the site :) If Dell are going to honour this, then that means they'll also be honouring the other price error monitor deals on the front page and I don't see that happening.

I'd love to be proven wrong and everyone who purchased something this morning will have their year's made and then some!

  • +1
  • +3

Just got a call from Dell that the order did not go through as the payment was declined. My credit card is all good and looks like the party is over… at least for me. Good luck to the rest of you.

  • +3

My order is now in production :)

    • +1

did you have to do the chat trick or is this simply from the same order you placed this morning?

oh wait, nevermind, you were the original trickster :-D

      • I called them about payment issue, and I was honored the deal.

        • yup, so yours progressed through production after it was amended to be confirmed… so i guess no one has got their original orders progressed…

hoping my amended order will go through soon as well…

          • @meong: My order shows "Confirmed" since this morning. How can I make it progress. I did seach your comments. You mentioned to re-issue the order. Should I ask the support to re-issue the order in the chat? and Prepare the Credit card?

            • @paddywide: confirmed since this morning?? you are the first one i know that has that…

if it's confirmed then you should already been charged…

do you at least have a "Customer Number" if you click on the exclamation mark above "View Packing Slip"?

              • @meong: Sorry, my misstake. It just said the order been received. The progress bar only has 1 green bar. Customer number is -1. Back to my original question. How to make it progress.?

                • @paddywide: yes then its best if you follow the chat rep tricks but i think everyone is on it by now and even if you select the Business chat you will still gonna be on a long queue…

                  see here:
                  https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12682116/redir

                  • @meong: Yes, there are 31 ahead. How can I make it progress. I did search your comments. You mentioned to re-issue the order. Should I ask the support to re-issue the order in the chat? and Prepare the Credit card?

                    • @paddywide: Yup… i simply asked them to check the address…

then i asked them this (copied from chat transcript):

"are you able to re-issue the order so I can be sure and make payment on it?"

which when the rep brought up the pop up card input screen… i asked for Paypal and they said "only allows card or eft"

  • If anyone actually gets this in the end, it would be pretty legendary. Those who got it confirmed luckily, let us know in a week if they actually came

  • +1

    Now order confirmation. Fingers crossed!

    • +1

Did you talk to dell to get order through?

    • +1

Live chat or did you just wait?

      • +16

Even better, prob just made it up!

  • I kinda want to begin a chat with them, but I feel like there already getting spammed as is lol

  • Dang my aon with crippling anxiety and best monitor gaming disorder is going to be disappointed.

  • +3

Just tried the chat thing and it looks like they caught on.

They told me it was an error and they can't reissue it until they get further information from their managers.

God speed to the lucky few who got it.

    • +7

Spoken by somebody obviously trying to free up the chat queue….

      • +1

no need to free up the chat queue, just select Business…

but i wont be surprised if Dell employee is watching this space atm :-D

    • +1

I got thru to a rep and seems like some have caught on. Only the lucky few who got a clueless rep have their order confirmed

      • +2

If they decide to cancel ,none would be honoured anyway.

        • +5

I think people are hoping to fly under the radar and hope it gets sent out before Dell realises they got confirmed

    • Was it by Joseph ?

  • No 2 in the queue
Hurry up to the ppl before me plz šŸ˜‚

    • Good luck

    • +3

Whatā€™s the point? If they really donā€™t want to go through with it, theyā€™ll just un-confirm your order.

  • +2

Do ppl really think Dell will honour this price? Come on now guys…

    • I donā€™t think so. Every unit shipped out cannot even cover the material.

    • wishful thinking xd

  • +7

The chat thing is absolute bs.
It's the equivalent of me needing my balls scratched, and my wife handing me a pineapple šŸ.

    • +2

      Is your wife from Philippines?

    • Legend. Dying from laughter right now

  • +3

If your rep is Joseph, donā€™t brother wasting your time

    • +11

And pretty sure Muzeeb will be made redundant

      • +2

        I got Muzeeb haha
        Here was his reply grrr

I apologize for the inconvience, Since there was an error on the website, it was showing incorrect price, and the transaction didn't go through.

we have escalated the case to our IT team and marketing team, I would request you to kindly check with us again on Monday

        • Now he knows he has made a big mistake lmao

          • +1

@Nathw: Wonder if he will try to retroactively fix all the mistaken orders he has made now. Hope he doesnā€™t get fired after this whole mess

            • +1

@SleepyBargainHunter: Hope not lmao. Muzeeb i love you

            • +1

@SleepyBargainHunter: He should be given "Employee of the month" award.

            • @SleepyBargainHunter: Muzeeb updated my order and I subsequently received the confirmation.

He did however say that another team would need to approve the address change on Monday. My order shows confirmed but the address is unchanged.

This was all an hour ago

          • +1

@Nathw: And now he went afk on me sml

            Here is his further reply

I'm not sure about it however this is the instructions we have from the team internally

      • +9

Chill out mate. Theyā€™re literally just trying to do their job. If they approve these dodgy requests, they may be out of a job in no time

        • +2

Mate. I'm trying to relax over here. I never hit chat. Wouldn't know Joseph if he stood up in my cornflakes in the morning. It's satire. Just sharing dank memes ffs.

    • Ironically won't stop you from wasting Joseph's time

  • I'm 37 in queue. Who all are above me?

    • 39

    • Another 36.

    • I was 17. Then my kid couldn't connect to internet. Had to restart router. Now 39 :S

  • +15

I feel like spamming the chats isn't going to win us any favors

  • Wow, they have changed the price now to $4,979.00

    • +3

To compensate for all the $249.01 sales they have just had to fill hopefully…

    • +1

Someones grandma whos grandson asked for this monitor for Christmas: Oh Dear thats not cheap, heres my credit card

  • Similar to @Equator Tree my order has now progressed to "Production"…

    • Did you talk to the chat?

    • Proof with the claim?

    • Yeah but they still have the right to cancel your order. Looks like itā€™s just the system update itself automatically

      • +1

true… but at least one step closer to getting it delivered…

until it arrives on your doorstep, you can never be sure…

        • +3

The reason the other orders didnt go through, is they have a bot that stops orders when they are under cost price from going through without review. The process that @4iedemon and @Equator Tree have done is get the agent to make a new order which bypasses all the order safety boundaries

      • I bet if your order was in production you wouldn't be that negative :P

    • Same with mine, I'm beginning to hope…

      • congrats!

  • +3

I feel like this is going to a ā€œto be continuedā€ saga

Best case we get a very cheap monitor, worst case we had a laugh and get refunds/cancellations

  • +16

I have to say… what i find funny is that everyone knew it was a price error. Yet there's a number of people that now feel entitled to get the product.
Seriously people… sometimes you get lucky, other times you don't. It is not the end of the world.

    • -2

I think the only right to feel "entitled" to this is if it gets honoured for some and not others. Otherwise its all a bit ridiculous

      • +3

I don't feel entitled to the lottery. This isn't any different.

        • -4

          To me sales/business isn't a lottery though

    • +3

I mean, I wouldnā€™t even be able to fit the monitor on my desk, so donā€™t really mind. Itā€™s was just a crazy price error and honestly a bit of luck if anyone ends up getting it. Though, Iā€™ve had the time of my life reading through some of the comments

    • The bunnings Drone was a one time honour fluke, but people really hope it will happen again one day.

  • +3

If they decide to cancel all the order and all the ozbargainers jammed their chat lines every day for a few weeks, that will teach them a lesson.

    • +2

I would say for a few months

      • +1

I would say for a few years

        • +1

          Decades maybe

    • +4

"The rebel scum keep intercepting my chats. Their only commuinication is "poopoo peepee", I'm not sure how much more of this I can endure. Just give them the damn monitors please!

    • +1

Yeah, how dare they price error!

      • Yeah. How dare they? Don't they have any processes to adhere to before publishing the price on the website?

    • Please tell me, what is that lesson?

      • +1

The lesson is : Thoroughly test everything before going live…

  • +7

We need to get a badge/flair for historic posts like this and the Bunnings Mavic deal.

    • I remember they gave everyone a $150 worth of GC?

      • $250. Still haven't used mine…

        • That was hands down the best bargain ever lol.

      • The $250 GC for the drone price error was awesome.

Dont forget the bar fridge price error for $488 too from bunnings, we used ours for a couple years and sold it for $1650 on marketplace.

Fingers crossed we get the monitor

    • +1

I guarantee that this is going in next yearā€™s treasure hunt. We were here to remember it

      • Find the most amount of comments made in 2022. Hint: Itā€™s a monitor

    • +3

Would you believe this is my first day on the site? Created an account, saw this thing this morning. Put an order in to buy one at about 8:25 and been watching the thread (and my inbox) all day.

  • +6

Wonder how OP's order is going. Posting this was a small step and gigantic leap for humanity

  • +1

They have pulled the page completely now. It was saying $1749 or so, now says deal isn't available….. Hmmm

  • +11

I heard they're sending out an email randomly between 1-3am and you have 30 seconds to accept your order confirmation. gl

    • There goes my sleep again!!ā˜¹ļøā˜¹ļø

    • And so my watch begins…

  • +22

I just spoke to my Dell rep from work. Weā€™re a pretty big company and has heard about this through the grape vine. Apparently they were thinking hard and were leaning heavily towards honouring the price but the amount of orders placed exceed the world wide stock lol. They litterally donā€™t have enough stock, period. He suspects a massive discount like sub refurb price. Expect an offical word tomorrow morning as it will probably have to be cleared up US time.

    • +1

Tell Mr Dell to liquidate some of his billions and buy more Alienate monitors.

    • +6

If that's true, I'm surprised they didn't just limit it to 1 per person to minimise backlash.

      • +1

You never know, they might honour it but limit it to 1 per customer?

    • From what Mr. Joesph told me, they have only received 360 orders lol.

      • +2

Literally no way they only received 360 orders with how many clicks this deal has hahaha

        • +4

Yeah but it expired at 8:55. heaps and heaps of clicks would be after the fact people having a look for themselves

          • @OzBerghainer: There was about 12,000 clicks at 9:15am šŸ¤£

          • +4

@OzBerghainer: You would be surprised how many noobs hesitate to act when they see a bargain.

            I would say 4 in 5 hesitated

            • @TheCandyMan2020: i didnt sleep well and decided to stay in bed a bit more and saw this order at 8AM… had i woken up at my normal time i would have been busy with my coffee and exercise etc and wont see this till a bit later… if i was an early bird today i wouldn't have got the worm!

        • +1

Yeah no way the covid era toilet roll buying grifters from here didn't jump on this the second it came up. 360 orders maybe, if some contain thousands of purchases in one transaction.

      • 24k clicks and counting…

    • +2

Do what Bunnings did and fulfil 1 to each until they run out of stock, then offer vouchers to the rest. (says a guy who got in in the first few mins)

    • Yeah nah, that's a cop out. Put us on backorder if you have to, the 34" OLED was out of stock for months, people buying went onto backorder and waited a solid 2 months. Do that here, I'm sure anyone would wait. Stock levels isn't an excuse

    • If they don't have stock to fulfill, how can they offer anything? Based on the hope many will disagree the refurb price?

    • This is why I ordered another S2722QC 20 minutes after.
It they are run out of steak, at least I will get a piece of cheesecake, hopefully :)

  • I restarted the chat again and itā€™s now at 53 šŸ¤Æ

  • +2

Would you still buy it if Dell offered $749 tomorrow?

    • +2

      Nah

    • +3

      Tbh, yea

    • +1

Honestly yeah. Seems like a beast monitor.

    • +18

Nope most of us don't need a monitor. We all bought a bargain.

      • +1

This is the correct answer! Keep the OzBargain spirit

      • +2

Yup, I have no idea where to place mine if I do receive it. On top of my AW3423DW? LOL

      • I signed up to OzBargain this morning, literally because I'm in the market for a monitor.

I did not expect this heart-in-throat all day madness.

    • +1

Nope. Mate brought one in eofy sales, have played a few games on it. Not that much better than my 34p. Sure if you were coming from a 27" pleb monitor it's a great buy at $750

    • if it was an oled version id do it :p

  • +7

Amazon AU is still selling this monitor.

Dell should buy back stocks there.lol

  • +1

Just got off the chat with (the legend) Muzeeb. Since others have said that he/she knows about it, I tried getting the 27" 4K orders re-issued instead, and it worked! Both have an order number and in the 'confirmed' state.

P.S. For those still waiting in line: I started waiting at 6:56 pm and was 5th in queue, and got served just after 8 pm.

    • +5

Do we need to setup a go fundme for this legendary Muzeeb soon? I can't imagine he will be employed much longer…

    • +4

How Tf, I was with Muzeeb and he said no šŸ˜”

      • +3

I didn't ask about this (Alienware) one, because I guessed it wouldn't work.

        • so you switched your order from the AW to the 4K 27"" and he honoured the discounted price??

          • +1

@julz15: Nah, I ordered the 27" and this Alienware one. I didn't ask about the Alienware in case they wouldn't re-issue the other ones.

            • @dkinc: Ahhh fair… thanks for the update… Fingers crossed!!!!!

      • I am yet to chat. Getting too tired, might just cancel and wait it out tbh.

    • dang really .. how long can each convo take… in that same time I have moved from 33 to 15 .. so I guess people are dropping out (tempted to myself .. but I actually would want to change the shipping address) .. and there are only 2 guys from Dell in this chat queue?

      • run incognito and join the queue via Business support

        • I'm on business.. not sure why you need incognito?

          • @Elijha: oh haha i thought you were on personal queue…

      • +1

Because the legend Muzeeb is handling every conversation single-handedly

    • +1

Lol, I really should have ordered the 4k one, just realised how big this will be if it turns up

  • +11

Are people trying to chat with dell? Are you trying to get them to cancel? Are you stupid?

    • +5

It's a joke to get people to sit on the chat wait line for hours just to have the operator laugh at them
Similarly to the other one where someone said confirmation emails will be sent at 3am you'll have 30 minutes to agree and get the deal..

  • +2

Why do they use the term 'in production' in the status page? Theyre not getting built on demand

    • They might also not be boxed / ready to go from the warehouse immediately.. ie the same device shipped form the Aisa Hub to AU will be labelled and have different 'accessories' packed like manuals and plugs then if it is boxed to go into Japan (possibly even firmware flashed for default language setting). Screens are made but not 'completed ready for the customer'.

Then again maybe they have JIT manufacturing and build to meet demand which is why shipping dates can fall way back.

    • +1

They were for the 34" OLED, you had to wait for it to be manufactured

    • I guess that's because people would mainly go to Dell and customise their system with additional RAM, other hardware, software etc

    • +7

Yeah they are. All 12,682 of them by Muzeeb himself.

      • +2

        Muzeebs punishment xD

  • Just wondering what people trying to get from them to chat with their support?

    • +7

      A monitor I reckon

      • +1

You might be on to something.

    • +4

Some people have moved it from received to confirmed apparently…. However if all orders are getting cancelled that won't matter. Save yourself 2 hours of waiting and then trying to convince the chat rep, for it to just be cancelled tomorrow anyway regardless of status

      • Yeah all cancelling anyway i bet

      • +1

waiting and then trying to convince the chat rep

May have to convince the Top manager or the CEO , I don't think the online chat rep can do anything about it.

    • Most orders are not 'confirmed' payment hasn't been taken so 0 chance they will ship. By using the chat some lucky people had the order redone and completed payment on this second copy now the order is free to move through the system and there is a better chance they will ship.

      • On the other hand thereā€™s a chance the change of order pushes it lower on the list because theyā€™ll be reviewing all orders for this monitor.

        • Haha yeah this was my concern. I got in at 8:33 but the legendary Muzeeb updated my address and bestowed an order confirmation onto me. However, now I am probably right at the end of the queue if they do decide to honour early orders.

      • Dell won't let any orders go through for $250. It's either all or none. The sh1tstorm that would come from selectively letting some through. If we get cancelled we all get cancelled, you will just get a refund if payment taken

        • If they re shipping any it would be fair to do so on a first in first out order basis..

  • +1

You cannot search AW3821DW on Dellā€™s site any more. I think they will honour this!

  • +2

Hey Joseph, if youā€™re reading this
I would accept a $500 coupon as compensation

  • +7

I've gotten Muzeeb. Let's see what his response is now!!!!!!!

Edit - game over - he's just referring me to customer care department now….

  • +19

Muzeeb just confirmed he's the one who put the pricing error and is telling people they'll be getting their screens. He's been trying to get himself fired all week and this was the best he's come up with

    • +2

The legend of Muzeeb will live on

    • +4

Nah, he told me he's a spy for HP

      • +2

Didn't know HP could afford spies… god knows they should spend money on production because the HP laptop i had from work sucked…

  • +41

feel sorry for the customer support having to deal with all you muppets

    • +7

We should set up a GoFundMe for Muzeeb.

      • +8

You should name your child Muzeeb.

        • +3

Heard he was a AI bot that became self-aware.

    • +3

This just shows how many desperate C we have in here. Its like, beggar of the beggars. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

  • Hope we can snag some store credit or something. I'm in the market for a new laptop.

    • +3

Same, also hoping the store credit comes with a Muzeeb signed tshirt

    • Probably $20 credit min spend $2000 šŸ˜€

  • -1

stupid mobile, was queue number 5 but screen autolocked and theen got kicked from queue

  • +1

Monitor shows $5000 on the dell website. Wow. This is the fastest growing investment I've ever made. Praise be to dell.

  • +3

    Muzeeb is an ozbargainer!

    • +1

We should canonize him if this deal pull through as a Guardian of Ozb..

      • We should all meet MZB and ask him to represent OZB and convince Dell to honor their error.

        • +5

After dealing with the OZB community in chat tonight he won't want to have anything to do with the entitled people who would have given him grief for the last 12 hours.

  • +3

I'm just on chat to meet Muzeeb.

    • Tell him I need an autograph.

      • Today shall be observed as a Muzeeb day!

        • +1

Might as well make it a public holiday.

  • +3

Muzeeb was hoping for a quiet Friday night so he could watch his Eels thrash the Raiders

Sadly for him he hasn't had a chance to watch it

  • Is it worth chatting with Dell, or best just to wait? My order still showing Received so I figure it'll be cancelled.

    • +5

Best to wait until further update from Dell
Otherwise youā€™d be chatting with Muzeeb

      • LOL… just out of curiosity, has anyone got through, and if so what did Dell say?

    • +5

I am not chatting to dell. Waste of time.

      • How can you give the once in a lifetime opportunity to speak to Muzeeb.

        • Lol yaa

    • Chat with Muzeeb if your order hasn't already been confirmed.

      • This is via the business chat right?

    • +1

Too late now. You should have done that before Muzeeb's resignation.

      • I mean dismissal

  • Donā€™t bother with chat. Spoke with Muzeeb - IT error check back Monday. They will make a decision then

    • +2

Yep, where all "confirmed" orders will be revoked too

      • Pretty much

      • But not in production orders ;-)

        • +2

I wouldn't celebrate. They can still can any orders which were pending or processed for $249 very easily. Here - I'll do it for you

          Update Orders
          Set status = "cancelled"
          Where unit_price="249.01" AND date_of_order=15092022 AND item=AW3821DW;

          Done.

Hell, Amazon managed to recall orders for a different price error once the order had actually been shipped via the carrier mid-way through transit.
You are just as much in limbo like the rest of us (albeit slightly less) ;-)

  • Muzeeb says no… game over

    • +3

You either die a hero, or live long enough to turn into the villain..

      • +7

you either die getting an Alienware monitor for $250 or you live long enough to see yourself become Muzeeb

    • That was Joseph impersonating Muzeeb

  • I'm still waiting for chat never loose hope… I don't even need this this monitor or do I even game.. but it's cheap and looks pretty cool. Let's hope we hear back Monday with a positive outcome.

  • +1

WTF, I was No.1 in the quene, after waited for 20 mins, chat just ended, saying no one available

    • I'm at 14 now

      • The other chat window also stuck at no2 now, lol, no progress now, I had a tough day today, now this… FXXX

        • Tough days are the worst. But if this doesn't get honoured going to be worst pain you'll feel in a while.

      • +1

Yup, no sales representative now, ppl just got kicked out one by one and you see your queue progressing, it's actually a fake queue

        • If I don't get thru I'll just wait till I get my refund or monitor I guess. Won't loose either way

          • @Vallah: I used 7% of vanilla card and 7% off EPP code, it won't matter now

          • @Vallah: What refund, you havnt been charged yet. It doesn't get charged until it ships.. here's hoping we get it but fully expecting a cancellation email over the weekend. Nothing lost though, the ride was worth it.

            • -1

@garvani: I paid via PayPal… Bought 1 and then bought another 2. Took my money from my account. But I'm guessing sitting with pp. But does say order placed on the PayPal app.

              • @Vallah: Where are you in the quene now? Did you get to speak with anyone yet?

  • +25

Man some of you guys need to get off ozbargain and go enjoy your weekend. Nothing you say or do here is going to change the outcome.

    • What are you doing here lol.. I got work tomorrow so no parting for me šŸ˜„

  • +3

I canā€™t see Dell honouring some orders and not others as that just frustrates those who didnā€™t have their orders honoured. ie some people will complain which uses up for Dell resources to address the complaints.

Even in the event they do honour the price, I doubt there will be sufficient stock to match all the orders.

More likely everyoneā€™s order will be canceled, we receive an apology and a voucher as goodwill gesture from Dell.

    • you can't see them honouring the ones they have stock for and not the ones that they don't? lol what. The chat stuff people are doing is just pushing them up the queue in terms of getting order redeemed before others.

      • I mean even if they do want to honour the price for all orders, there will not be enough stock to cover all orders.

Best case IMO would be allocating stock based on first in best dressed which means many orders still wonā€™t be fulfilled. I think fulfilling the ā€œqueue jumpersā€ will also frustrate customers especially if you ordered early and get bumped.

I think a uniform response to all orders would be seen as fair and less likely to antagonise customers.

        • +2

I feel like if they were going to simply cancel the orders they would have done that quicker than this.

      • +1

Nah it's really not. As other people have mentioned, the chat is literally just filling in the Dell reps day.

All of those chats won't mean jack because of the sheer number of orders. This will be sent higher up the chain and more than likely revoked.

  • I love how much silly hope there is here. It's not happening guys get over it.

    • +11

Guessing you missed out this morning

      • +2

Nope I ordered very early (8:20am), and have followed this all day for the entertainment.

    • +1

I love how much silly hope there is here. It's not happening guys get over it.

People said the same with the Lenovo deal.

      • What lenovo deal are you talking about? I must've missed that one..

      • If someone on OzB referred to all the times a pricing error wasn't honoured, they'd hit the character limit…. Yet you choose to pay attention to the one time it was honoured?

        • +1

Got an email today saying this would be honoured by Bunnings. Not in the same league, I know, but I wanted to flex my $145 case for $25. šŸ˜…

  • +2

    HOPIUM!

  • +2

I think we've done all we can. Just wait until Monday.

In the meantime, all of our energy can be re-directed to find a price-errored laptop to go with this monitor :P LOL

    • +2

      I need a a price-errored Alienware Aurora.

  • +7

I spoke to my psychologist about this deal.
When I mentioned the stress I was under from this OzB post she replied saying she had already treated another patient who was rambling about it. So, here's what she feels about it.

As the management team will be able to relax, process and accept the problem over the weekend, she believes that they will return to work fresh on Monday and, in an effort to avoid backlash, decide to honour the deal.

  • +12

Can someone turn this entire journey into an epic feature length movie?

    • I need to know if Muzeeb makes it out employed?
    • Does Joseph have a change of heart on honouring orders?
    • Do the hordes of OzBargainers achieve their goal of 91% off gaming-monitor-attainment?
    • +5

Are you Team Muzeeb or Team Joseph?

      • Team Muzeeb, Iā€™ve already ordered 10,000 flyers #savemuzeeb

  • +1

Itā€™s like the whole free kayo all over.

    • +2

except some of us got it and still using it

  • Did anyone save a screenshot? I need it for price protection. DM would be much appreciated!!!

    • I saw one posted earlier on in the thread.

I saved it, but idk how to upload images here.

    • +1

Price protection doesn't cover price errors (tbc but assume it is) and cheaper price must be after purchase

      • +4

        Shut up Joseph

      • Well it is advertised for lower and I bought it 2 months ago. Worth a try with the screenshots i guess :)

  • -7

are these the same people that opens Centrelink page every day waiting for ā€œyou might be eligibleā€ link.

    • Where is that link??

    • They aren't up before 9am, that's the difference.

  • +1

I had a dream wfh with 2 new curves monitors…

    • Lol

  • +1

AW3821DW is not for sale now. Out of stock or there will be no more AW3821DW for ozbargianer?

    • +1

Pulling the item for sale entirely probably means they're still up in the air on this. Not wanting to allocate any stock until a final decision is made.

Tells me we're still in with a chance, slim as it ever was.

  • -3

Pretty sad I missed this…If anyone bought one for the hell of it and don't actually want it, and the price is honoured, I'd love to buy it from you!! Been after this monitor for years šŸ˜ž

    • +14

Sure, that will be $2499 thanks šŸ¤£

      • šŸ˜‚ nooooo. Hoping on the goodwill of others… Would gladly double what they paid.

        • How about 5x…

        • final discount, $2448

        • +2

LOL you do know you are asking OzBargain members, who want to buy things at the lowest price and sell things at the highest price right?

          • +1

@edfoo: Only asking :) it's happened before (passing it on for what they got it), and I've done it too.

            No harm in asking.

            • +1

@spendybeans: Youā€™d want to ensure itā€™s someone local you could pick up from. Shipping would be horrendous because of the size of the box.

              • @Chazzozz: No doubt. From the feel of the thread I don't think there's much chance of needing to factor that in :P

    • +1

You may have only missed out on the anxiety of waiting to see if it will be honored… no one knows yet! But if they do honor it you may want to avoid this thread for a few days extreme fomo lol

      • I know it might not.. but I would have been one of the ones that jumped on it if it did!

I get the feeling they will honour it in this case… the fact it's not in the shopfront anymore makes me think it was getting cleared.

    • Monitor hasn't been out for years…

      • Nov 2020.. my humble apologies.. so far off.

        • ah whoops i got it confused with the 34" one they released this year. Apologies!

    • -1

Why would anyone sell it to you for 2x prices when it can easily sell for more than $1000? If you got it for $500, you can make $500 easily out for it?

  • +9

So they've removed the listing for the screen entirely from the Dell website and the ebay listing by Dell shows 0 stock too.
    know why?
COS THEY'RE ALL GOIN TO US, YEEEWWWWWW!

    • +1

No lol, it's to support that they have no stock and cant fulfil any orders.

  • +2

I am actually going to gift my monitor(s) if I get them.

I know a couple of kids who would be blown away by them. It would be worth $498 to see the smiles on their faces.

  • -8

So excited, email confirmation my order shipped. Fingers crossed it doesn't get intercepted before it lands on my doorstep.

  • +3

The amount of hope and dreams in this thread is crazy.

I'm getting popcorn ready for the melts when the inevitable cancellations are announced.

  • +1

Just realised this thing wonā€™t even fit on my desk

    • +1

So with the $2250 saved here you couldnt afford to upgrade your desk to accommodate?

    • Well, there's an easy solution to that… buy a bigger table :P LOL

      • Well, there's an easier solution to thatā€¦ gift the monitor to me :P LOL

      • Or buy bigger house first.
Get the most difficult task done!

    • My tiny unit wonā€™t fit so Iā€™m in the market for a house atm.

  • +5

In a way, aren't we all Muzeeb

    • +4

Maybe there is a bit of Muzeeb in all of us? (or at least that's what he is demanding in return for letting the deal go through)

      • +3

Can confirm. Muzeeb has been in me

        • +2

          BUT DID MUZEEB CONFIRM?
          Did you get 38inches?

        • Lol

          • +2

@U30004: I bet he ripped out that 38incher and put it straight into production completly skipping confirmation. You cheeky bugger Muzeeb!

        • He's in me at the moment

  • +37

    Day 2

Had the dream again last night where everything is curved and taking up my full view. Is it a sign of things to come, or just the first step towards insanity?

My day started the same way it always does now, check my bank account for activity, still nothing, check emails for confirmation of my order, still nothing, just some spam saying my package has been delivered, is it a sign of things to come, or just the first step towards insanity?

I then make my way to Bar-Gain to huddle with the masses, they have signs and billboards reading: "Honour the deal" and "Serve the Curve", I feel a sense of hope looking around at all the desperate faces, a few people are telling jokes to lighten the mood, but deep down we all know this is no laughing matter, this is the deal of a lifetime and we're in it to the end.

I take up my spot in the corner, pull out my laptop and start hitting F5, waiting…hoping…praying…

    • +4

Hope this gets search aggregated. Top tier unintentional flatearther shitpost.

  • +8

Fun Fact: The word 'Muzeeb' is Swahili in origin, and when read upside down, means "tribe of the unemployed"

    • He is planning this since before born! Such a conspiracy

    • Lol

  • +1

The hold of the funds have been released and returned to my account. Was a fun dream…

    • -2

They don't charge you until it ships. Theres still a glimmer of hope

    • +1

Mine is still showing as 'Pending' in Paypal…

    • My cc is no longer showing the $0.00 charge but 249 still shows up in PayPal, I wonder if that's normal and the 0.00 goes away after a while once they've confirmed it's a valid payment method

  • +2

    people are still posting here?
    Go enjoy your weekends :P

    • It's raining.

    • Enjoying a cup of coffee while reading this thread wholesomely

      • exactly what im doing. And i'll be honest, i havn't got anything better to do today :D

    • I've got grad school homework to do. Refreshing the order page, my inbox and this thread is top-tier procrastination.

      • I'm still in bed refreshing all related pages hoping to get some encouraging news to give me motivation to start my day.

    • +4

This is like waiting for Christmas, except you don't know if there will be Christmas. The thrills.

  • Still not showing confirm. This is a fantastic deal if go through.

  • +3

Now is perfect time for dealbot to step in and get this deal done. He will become a legend forever.

  • +1

Good morning friends, looking forward to my confirmation this morning :)

  • -3

Missed this train, Is any other deal on the monitor? similar but not price error (rare deals).

    • Think Amazon are doing it for 1750, which doesn't seem great when it's been down to 1400.
Might be worth waiting until this blows over and dell put it back up on their site

      • -3

any other deal would be fine, need it for work purposes.under 500

        • +1

Oh not this particular model lol
What do you need from it? Curved, size, res, usb-c, USB hub?
Guessing refresh rate doesn't matter and 60hz is fine

          This one looks pretty good
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/725127

          • @based: curved is fine and 60hz is fine, I bought a Kogan monitor and it is really bad.

            • @Nickbag: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/725127

Or if you've been stung and want to play it safe with Dell there's a few discounted
              S2721DS, S2722DC, S2721QS

              S2722DC in particular looks solid

              • @based: I think the 32" S32xxDC comes to around $500-550 quite often. I have a U27QC at home, and a S34DWC at work. Prefer the U one, but the S one is still good.

      • its gone as low as $1289

        • An ebayer was selling a warranty replacement stock for under $1k. not sure he was a genuine seller or not.

    • Rare deals get sold quickly. Check frequently or have alerts up for anything you are keen on.

  • +15

A friend working for dell tipped me that dell will honour orders with quantity of "ONE". But who knows? He might be just teasing me.

    • We love to be teased

      • +2

        Just the ā€˜tipā€™

        • +3

Hereā€™s a tip, the dude and his friend are talking shit.

    • +1

Is your friendā€™s name Michael Dell?

      • -1

        Mujeeb

    • +1

And you might be just teasing us

    • stop teasing us.

  • 30mins left before itā€™s noon, still no morning updates :(

    • +4

Wish they decided one way or the other and end this uncertainty.

  • +20

Got off the phone with the Dell CEO, Michael Dell. Turns out Mujeeb is secretly Michael. He heard OzBargainā€™s cries for help and got on the chat line with the goal of approving everyoneā€™s orders. He faced stern opposition by shareholders and the board of directors, but he had an unrelenting passion to fulfil these orders.

However, one by one, the stock levels depleted as he confirmed orders. Soon, they were out of stock and could not confirm any additional monitors. Feeling utter despair, he started giving canned responses and rejecting our pleas for help. After he got off work. He spent a sleepless night thinking about how to redeem himself. How he could prove himself to the OzBargain community.

He came up with the perfect plan and everyone will get an email confirming this on Monday. Everyone who missed out on a monitor because of their stock will instead receive a top spec Alienware x17 R2 Gaming Laptop, valued at around $9,000. As products are both Alienware, he thought that it would be an appropriate replacement. He knows some people may be dissatisfied with this replacement and offered his sincerest apologies.

    • +1

Iā€™d be happy to take that gaming laptop instead!

    • +2

Thanks for taking the time to speak to him personally. The community appreciates your efforts in resolving this matter during such trying times.

    • +3

I haven't received order confirmation for my x17 R2 Laptop yet. Is this for real?

    • +1

Look, if it will help clear Michael's conscience… ill settle for the 34" OLED monitor then ;)

    • I thought Dell is a private company, so no shareholders, right? Mujeeb is high?

  • +3

I am hearing those who miss out might be given a gaming mouse as compensation.

    • +2

I heard that those who missed out will be getting an Alienware sticker set.

      • +2

I hear the people who miss out will get a Alienware Digital Pack including an Anlienware Font, Screensaver, Wallpaper and Mouse Pointer.

        • +4

I heard those miss out will get a real Alien.

        • +4

I hear those who miss out will be added to the alienware email marketing list.

    • +2

What a way to add insult to injury lol

    • I heard that those who missed out will be getting a refund

  • I just noted the "good luck gents" in the original post

    Girls game too babe!

    • +5

      So girls cant be gentleladies?

      • Be gentle…

  • +46

Was on my way home from a long day at my local library furiously F5ing this page because I'm too tight to pay for my own computer and internet connection. I walk through the door and guess what I find? Old mate Micholas Dell and Muzeeb in bed with my wife.

I stumble walking into the bedroom. Muzeeb has left a half opened pack of Eneloop's on the floor - I can only imagine why. I asked Micholas, "Mate is that your Audi S3 in the driveway? Because that's normally where I park my pushbike." He lets out a wry smile and turns to me, "Of course mate, it's my investment with high yield". I nod approvingly.

Best I let them finish. Poor Muzeeb looked famished. In a generous mood, I make my way to Hungry Jack's to use some of my beloved vouchers. Chills spread over my body at the thought of the Whopper price increases over the years. Bugger - my Oppo phone has run out battery on the ride there, and there isn't an outlet nearby for my GaaN charger. Truly a predicament.

I make it home, just as they are leaving. "Mick - so about those monitors mate…". He stops me, puts his moist finger over my lips to keep them sealed. "There will be ONE Alienware monitor for every man, woman and child that ordered from OzBargain" he proclaims. A solemn tear streams down my cheek. "T-Thank you" I whimper, high-fiving Muzeeb on the way out.

    • -6

Lmao wtf. This Muzeeb fanfic has gone too far.

      • +6

Muzeeb begins to unbutton his shirt, revealing a somewhat hairy, but exquisitely chiseled chest.

Reaching out towards ChickenDinner123, he places one hand on his, and with the other, he begins to gently massage his left nipple.

By now his nipple is as hard as the Alienware monitor stand.

Want me to go on? It gets really juicy!

        • +3

Muzeeb puts on his robe and wizard hat

          • +1

            @Butterfly Gocha: Now thereā€™s a line I havenā€™t heard in a long time!

    • +1

Yeah, but then Micholas says on the condition he has his way with you as well.

      • +2

        Lol

    • +2

Say thanks to your wife for providing terrific Dell service and the unicorn monitor.

    • +1

      So did they use protection?

    • +1

      This is the way.

      • +1

        This is not reddit

        • +1

No but Oz bargain bot posts every deal to reddit

  • +6

    Muzeeb has become a Legend
I hear he has been promoted to CCO (Chief Customer Officer) due to his popularity
Also rumours Netflix has signed a contract with him for a new series

    • +2

Hope he is not being monitored.

    • What new series? Too Hot to Handle Season 4?

      • +1

        The Curve
Its a thriller that tells the story of a bargain shopper stuck in a game in a curved reality who is constantly being monitored by a online audience.
        jv is auditioning
Funny thing they havent started filming season 1 and its already been renewed for 2 more seasons due to popularity of this deal

        • With all this lore, surely they have to honour it now

    • To replace the deal with the Sussexes?

    • Or maybe as COPE
      Chief of price error

  • +4

Why does my 34'' seem small today?

    • +2

I cant use my computer now with this 27" POS

    • +1

      Iā€™m 8ā€ and I think itā€™s just right

      • -1

        Thats, she will say disagrees

  • +3

We may have to class action Dell? Thus establishing the Muzeeb precedent for all future ozbargainers

  • +3

So what if they made the first 100 sign a contract where if they get it they ā€˜canā€™tā€™ talk about (fight club) it to anyone???
    Hmmmm ponders if worth it.

    • +2

They threw in a Dell printer as well so I could print off my NDA

  • +15

Apparently Muzeeb was spotted at the AusPost Business Hub in Alexandria getting discounted stamps to post the monitors to us.

    • +3

No way, I saw him earlier today running into JB HiFi desperately seeking out Alienware 38" Curved Gaming Monitors.

Apparently he was repeatedly muttering to himself "I must serve the curve".

      • +3

Weirdly, i saw him in officeworks today printing shipping labels and running in circles curves looking for packing material (bubble wrap, tape, etc)

        • +2

No way. Little bird told me Dell ceo sent him to dell warehouse in siberia to pack 10,000 monitors for ozb

    • +2

I'd actually just finished making some risotto for lunch on the nearby park barbecue when I ran into Muzeeb. He says for everyone to check their order status this evening for an update.

    • +1

Now that mujeeb has shipped all the monitors using auspost after collecting them from JB hi-fi, he is now on a flight back to Hyderabad, where he arrived from earlier in the day. Legend.

  • +1

My order went from Confirmed to In Production!
    Could this be it?

    • -3

      Screenshot?

      • +5

why do people want screenshots as if there is no trust in the community anymore? we already have people claiming that their orders have progressed through Production and even posted screenshots (myself included)

        • +5

There has been multiple troll comments recently. It's hard to believe what's real or what's photoshopped.

          • +3

@FDA2021: Not recently actually… Since last night ever since Equator Tree shared his method there were legitimate and proven way to get the orders confirmed within that few hours window if you managed to get through the queue. There were no more photoshopped troll posts.

I think the only thing we haven't heard is if anyone who didn't request to have their orders re-issued actually got their orders confirmed. If that was really the case it would provide some sort of hope for those that couldn't make it through the chat queue last night.

            • @meong: So I just need to ask the assistant to reissue my order? I'm in the queue now and I was reading they don't accept PayPal when re-issuing orders

            • +1

@meong: Yeah it doesnā€™t mean anything, they might just get a refund Monday

              • +1

@DemocracyManifest: Yeah thats why i worded it as 'some sort of hope'

I'm sure Dell is smart enough to take company wide action to prevent the monitors from going out.

    • Mine gets shipped 19th

      • Did you speak to online chat?

    • +2

did you do the order re-issuing via chat or was it simply from the original order on Friday morning?

  • -2

    Woohoo!

    • -1

      ?

      • -1

        Woohoo?

  • +5

Looks like Dell has disabled their online chat lol

    • +5

It's because mujeeb is on the plane back to Hyderabad.

  • +3

I own one of these monitors - can confirm it's so much real estate, it's actually challenging to adapt to. I've actually met Michael Dell in Vegas, and I'm hoping Dell remember this and therefore process our orders.

  • Considering most dell employees dont care and just approve stuff. Hopefully this gets processed.

    • Big doubt. Everyoneā€™s going on online chat and the company has more or less confirmed it will be cancelled. I got in early and the invoice doesnā€™t look right and no money came out: as above has stated itā€™s because itā€™s under cost price. No chance. The guys who tried to get them to push through their order initially may get one but I reckon itā€™s unlikely

      • Yeah mine is confirmed and a charge had been made out of my cc but only a pending charge so i don't have high hope it will be honoured…

      • +1

Sometimes it's best not to provoke the company, if those people didn't eagerly ruin it for the rest, most of you would have most likely got it. They don't go around looking for ways to save the company money. The company doesn't judge staff by those KPI, so if orders are cancelled and people lose out, it's because of those who were asking for it.

I personally didnt buy any more monitors since bought quite a few carefully stacking friend's staff discounts.

        • Yeah they were ringing and harassing them, great work (profanity)

ā€˜We are sorry to inform you that your order of ā€œDell Alienware 38 Monitor - AW3821DWā€, Order #2008134961433 has been cancelled due to a pricing error. Your payment method will not be charged for this order, or a credit will be issued promptly.

We at Dell appreciate your business and are working hard to prevent similar issues in the future. Please donā€™t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

          Sincerely,

          Dell Customer Careā€™

  • +8

I got through the Online Chat with Chintamani, and they said told me

"Unfortunately im really sorry to tell you that there was some prices glitch in the wesbsite due to which no order confirmation has been sent to the customers
We are working with the legal team and marketing team on this issue
As soon as we hear from them you will get the update about your order"

    • +9

Legal team… not a good sign

      • Indeed

      • +1

some prices glitch in the wesbsite

      • +2

        Theyā€™re coming for us

        • +10

Harvey Spector … where are you

      • +1

could be because they're checking if they can held liable for anything?

or if Dell has some sort of insurance for this kinda thing but idk if that's how it works lmao

    • +1

Letā€™s hope the marketing team wins and has a fat budget for FY23

    • which no order confirmation has been sent to the customers

So those able to get onto online chat, still didn't have a confirmation.

  • +7

3.3 Dell may process payment for and ship parts of an order separately. Dell reserves the right at any time, even after we send you a confirmation email, to decline or cancel your order or to limit order quantities for any reason, including ERRORS or suspected fraud.

4.2 Dell uses reasonable endeavors to communicate accurate pricing and Product information, however errors may occur. In the unlikely event that an error affects your order, or a Product that you have ordered is no longer available, we will either contact you for instructions or cancel your order and refund any money you have paid for the relevant Products.

    • +3

Already stated here clearly, at the end of the day Dell will just tell all of us to F.O. cancel & refund, everyone just enjoy your weekend!

      • +4

i think the reason alot of people is hanging on to hope so much is cuz dell is super chill like I had an entire laptop motherboard replaced cuz one of my typec ports broke after warranty all for free

dells probably just doing the math in their head to avoid as big as a lash back as possible

plus the legal stuff just seems like regular old boilerplate stuff so that they are legally able to do what they want in a mistake, this is more about morality and keeping a good image right?

yes I had a larger than normal dose of hopium this morning

  • +1

I'm in this deal as well and want this deal to become reality as much as everyone else.

However, I'm not sure what kind of backlash that would terrible enough for Dell to think that sacrificing hundreds of thousands of profit (potentially) would be the better option. Probably upset and disgruntled customers - just need to wait for the anger to go away and for us to forget about this. They probably going to come up with some other deal(s) that's excellent in value but more sustainaible for their pocket and then we'll be jumping all over it - already forgetting what happened.

Remember that legally, they don't have to honour this, there's no legal ground or avenue that we, as a customer, can use to take them to court. There's no class action lawsuit or anything like that, that can come out of this - should they choose to walk away.

    • +4

In the end it will just be a marketing (potential good image gain vs financial (immediate profit loss) decision - which I think if the restrict it to one unit per order, still be a good marketing deal for 300ish units.

      • +1

        True…

Well, I've never been in anything like this while I'm part of OZB. I know about Bunnings and the drone, but that kind of price honouring is extremely rare.

Anyway, just accept and make peace with the most likely outcome - which is, they'll cancel. Enjoy the weekend.

I do find it odd though that they don't just straight away cancel the orders. However, I won't hold my breath for this one.

        • +4

Keep hearing this Bunnings drone deal as a reference and I only found out about it today that it happened in 2019…

I feel like i need to take off my OzB badge for not knowing šŸ˜‚

          • @meong: Yes the dreaded bunnings drone that i missed out on by about half an hour due to being asleep

      • +2

Missed out on the deal (to my regret) but if Dell honours this I'd be highly surprised. 300 units, with a very generous assumption that Dell only loses $300 per unit, is 90K… huge for a bunch of people who are the most un-loyal customers on the planet lol

If they do honours, hands down greatest OzB in history I'd say.

        • +1

Is that how many they sold? I would have thought a lot more than 300. Happy if so as it may not seem as bad for them financially.

        • I doubt there losing $300 at the price of $249. the 249 is probably around their cost price, if anything it is merely a lose of POTENTIAL profit from the stock they would usually be selling at RRP.

I know i'm probably biased, but if it was my business - I would honour it.

          • @OzBerghainer: Monitor regularly sells for $1200+; at $300 that's a 75% profit margin which I'm pretty sure would put their margins above Apple level… seems unlikely.

Regardless, hopefully they honour it for everyone who got an order in

      • -1

are they really going to sacrifice 300k for image tho, feels like they'll take the money and run

  • +3

Didn't realise there is so many certified lawyers on OzB!

  • Looks like price glitch is usual habit of Dell. Bumped into the below article from 2009.

    https://www.computerworld.com/article/2526569/dell-fined-in-ā€¦

    • +1

      That's 13 years ago lol.
If it was more commonplace, we would have had seen more of these deals on ozbargain

  • +3

Monday shall be an interesting day. Higly doubt there will be any communications officially till then. Ideally I hope they honour 1 item per person, anyone that ordered more than 1 could maybe be honored in being able to order a single item with the rest refunded. Would probably reduce financial damage by 50% while keeping everyone in Dells good-graces.

I'll tell ya what though, I'll be visiting the dell site a hell of a lot more after this whole debacle.

    • Between work and personal laptops and PC parts, I have a disgusting amount of Dell products.
Definately going to keep the business purhcases with Dell if they honor this.

      • +2

        Dell if youā€™re reading this
I will buy an Alienware PC if you honor this

        • šŸ¤£

        • OK but you have to buy this one.

          • +1

@ttkc: No worries, looks like a perfect pair with the monitor.

  • +1

    Someone is getting fired

    • +1

      Mujeeb.

      • +1

        Muzeeb

      • +4

That's Muzeeb's new name when he reapplies

        • +5

Just checked his LinkedIn profile. Interests… Looking for a job.

          • @RSmith: All jokes aside, heā€™s been there for just shy of 8 years. I really hope this wonā€™t affect his job. Not his fault.

        • +1

As a member for 15 years, this what will unfold in the next few days…

    Shock
    Curiosity
    Excitement
    Hope
    Determination < We are here!
    Denial
    Delusion
    Anger
    Despair

    • +3

After Despair will be bad reviews

      • +1

I think the bad reviews flood in at anger

      • +1

Make sure you don't piss off a solicitor in the process!

      • +1

After bad reviews will be complaints to ACCC

      • +2

After Despair will be bad reviews

        And neg this post.

    • +3

      7 stages of grief:

Shock and denial: This is a state of disbelief and numbed feelings.
Pain and guilt: You may feel that the loss is unbearable and that youā€™re making other peopleā€™s lives harder because of your feelings and needs.
Anger and bargaining: You may lash out, telling God or a higher power that youā€™ll do anything they ask if theyā€™ll only grant you relief from these feelings or this situation.
Depression: This may be a period of isolation and loneliness during which you process and reflect on the loss.
The upward turn: At this point, the stages of grief like anger and pain have died down, and youā€™re left in a more calm and relaxed state.
Reconstruction and working through: You can begin to put pieces of your life back together and move forward.
Acceptance and hope: This is a very gradual acceptance of the new way of life and a feeling of possibility for the future.

I am personally at the Depression stage, tomorrow will probably be the upward turn and when Mr. Dell finally gives us his answer on Monday we will have moved on to the acceptance stage.

      Kumbayaaaaaaa…

  • -11

My order says its been shipped. Fingers crossed!

    • Proof?

    • First post in this thread.. yeah nah

  • +1

Whats the record of most amount of comments on a deal?

    • 7,571.

      • was that the deal for adderall? nobody could stfu about it

  • -13

Probably a price error but just ordered one and see what would happen, good luck gents

    No wish for ladies?

  • +6

    DELL!!!

If you, Dell, are reading through the comments, please realise that many people's lives are at stake here. People have hinged their entire existence and self-worth on receiving this lovely monitor. We greatly appreciate the generous pricing you offered during the unannounced happy-hour.

Please honour the deal and be on the right side of history.

Comment and tell us you hear us, Dell.

    • I actually know the contractor who handles (or at least used to, haven't be in touch for a couples of years now) Dell's Australian ebay store. She does frequent Ozbargain, well I mean, she has to as part of her job. So Dell will be fully aware of this thread

    • +1

Hi. It's your Dell representative here. Sorry, I'm currently on the shi$ter. You're business is important to us, please leave a message and we shall respond once we are no longer on the shi$ter

  • I am pretty sure some of the orders will be honoured while some will be cancelled on the basis of stock. With the number of orders they would have gotten, they are not going to produce more to honour the deal. Best case would give away the in stock items.

    • Why are you so sure? Just got off the phone with Michael Dell?

  • +1

This should be on the news. Can someone show these posts to 60 Minutes.

    • +1

      not until Dell honored it

    • Not until dell refuses to honor it

    • POTUS should make a statement on this.

  • +7

I heard Mujeeb got a new job as Ferrari chief strategist

    • I wish he becomes tesla online store website administrator

    • his lack of experience will still give better results than what theyre dealing with currently.
next, why not Michael Dell to replace Binotto

  • +2

    All praise Muad'Dib!

    • *Muaj'Eeb

  • +1

I didn't have a chance to chat with dell support on Friday. I hope they can either send or cancel orders. I hate to wait and don't have a good weekend, although I go to the beach today.

    • +1

I hope you get the monitor and it makes your week really good to make up for a bad weekend :)

    • +1

Best to live your life with the idea of Dell not honouring the orders…

Remember, prior to this deal being posted, your life was much simpler, yes? šŸ˜†

      • +2

Prior to this deal; there was no Muzeeb in my life. Now I know what I've been missing out on this entire time.

      • I had a Dell Ultrasharp 27" for 10 years since 2009. My wife plug and unplug the HDMI then half of the panel can't display. I bought Viewsonic 32 for $300. The color definitely not as good as dell. I really want to buy the latest Dell Ultrasharp 32 4k with usb-c, it said has premium black color. Now 38" suddenly come to my life although I don't play games, it will good for movie.

  • +6

If this deal comes through, I would like to start the calendar again from this moment, with the terms B.D.D being "Before Dell Deal"; and A.D.D. stands for anno domini (Latin for "in the year of the dell deal).

Every year on September 16 we would pray to Muzeeb, asking for the deliverance of astounding one day deals.

  • +1

This came 1 day after my 12 month price protection expired, but I submitted a claim anyway.

I reckon I have as much chance of getting that approved as those who ordered getting a delivery. Good luck all!

  • +4

I still remember buying the latest and greatest Samsung Galaxy S2 11 years ago for $2 outright thanks to OzBargain:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54666

These brand experiences stick with you for life. I lined up from 11:30AM through to 8AM and returned to work in the same work clothes the next day. I had a positive story to tell for years and Samsung scored plenty of good PR: Newspaper article

It seems they do not have sufficient stock for the 360+ orders, hence I'm hoping they cap this "deal" at one per customer so that everyone feels like they've scored whilst halving Dell's losses from professionals.

  • +2

My guess for this epic farce is because the price error is made by other HQ (eg Singapore or HK) and Dell Australia does not want to be a "bad guy" to deal with angry customers/ACCC/media etc. That's why the orders are not yet to be cancelled. So the big boss will be the final judge to honor or cancel the orders.

    • +1

i easily forgot/never realised the size of Dell. I guess because I'm not a fan or a user of their products, but they rake in $100B p.a

  • thx ordered 5

    • I confirm your order.

      • +1

Thanks can you ship it immediately?

        • +2

It is onboard with the driver for delivery.

          • +2

@Heaps for Cheaps: Im the driver. Just delivered but no one home. Will be at post office tomorrow for collection

            • +2

@OzBerghainer: That's everyone's nightmare, seeing a delivery attempt on Saturday and there is no way to pick it up from AusPost on Sunday, so you have to wait till Monday…

Ohhh my life is sooo difficult…

              • +1

@meong: Does auspost do saturday deliveries in your area? For me only during Christmas.

                • +1

@OzBerghainer: not consistently, they only do this when there is a huge backlog i think…

            • +1

@OzBerghainer: The cunstomer phoned, he said you didn't knock, just left a card in the mailbox.

  • +6

Did anyone else not get an HDMI cable in the box? Bit disappointed to be honest. :-(

    • Mine came with a lightning cable in the box.

    • +1

      Spewin

    • +3

Mine was missing the Drivers CD-rom,

      spewin!

    • +4

Mine missing playstation 5! So sad….

    • Mine came with 4 x eneloop batteries pack. But no power cable.

  • What may work in our favour is that the 3821DW was released in 2021 and might be due for a refresh in 2023.

    • or maybe just superseded by the AW OLED?

  • -1

I highly doubt it would get honoured…. who are we kidding its Dell…do you think they will honour it out of goodwill.. No.

  • Will this work on a logitech gaming headset?

  • +6

Cindy Dell here guys, Michael's stepdaughter.

Daddy said he cannot officially honour this deal because he's beholden to the shareholders.

However, he would still like to honor the purchases out of his own pocket behind the scenes.

For this reason, you won't be charged the $249 through normal channels. Just send me the $249 privately (plus your order number), and I can confirm your order for you in the system. Once confirmed, your order will be dispatched within 1-3 business days. Your tracking number will be the same as my bank account number.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Cindy

    • +1

Are you Cindy the Nigerian Princess

    • PMā€™ed you my details.

  • +10

Just received an email from Dell saying they cancelled the order due to pricing error.

    • +1

Just got the same email for the Alienware monitor :(

      • wonder if those that got their orders reissued, still have a chance? would be pretty BS :( SAD

        • +3

I got my order re-issued and i just received the cancellation email.

          Game over everyone…

          • @meong: Yeah, reissue still appears in my orders though

          • @meong: Are you able to get the monitor. I saw someone said he make the payment then he can get it.

  • +6

Just got the order cancellation email from Dell, order was placed at 8:08am.

    Dear timliu1996
We are sorry to inform you that your order of ā€œDell Alienware 38 Monitor - AW3821DWā€, Order #42069 has been cancelled due to a pricing error. Your payment method will not be charged for this order, or a credit will be issued promptly.

    Sincerely,

  • +2

just got the order cancellation email too, no compensation or credit

  • Order cancelled in the middle of the night. Strategic to limit the blowback since once most of OzB sees this it will be hours later.

  • This monitor order was cancelled but the USB-C one hasnā€™t been yet

    • +1

My Dell 27 Monitor - S2722QC order has been cancelled. Haven't got the email for this one yet

  • Haven't got mine canceled yet but I ordered around 8:45 so im guessing they haven't got to it yet šŸ˜

    • Same, mine still hasn't been canceled yet. Hopefully that's a good sign but not sure yet

      • You'll definitely get it

  • +1

Both aw3821dw and s2722qc are cancelled

  • I got x'ed also. Ah well. Cyas on the next one

  • +1

    Canned - all over

  • -1

lol what a waste of timeļ¼Œthey could have done this long ago

    • +2

You really wasted your time? Nothing else to do mate?

      • -4

Nothing else to do at 6 oā€™clock in the morning mate? Pathetic

      • +3

Not saying I need them to honour the orders, but they could have managed this issue in a lot better way

        • +9

Oh boohoo an obvious price error wasn't honoured. Orders cancelled, refunds issued if funds taken.
What more could you possibly expect?

          • +4

@cooni: I don't think a personal apology and foot rub from the ceo is too much to expect.

  • +2

We are sorry to inform you that your order of ā€œDell Alienware 38 Monitor - AW3821DWā€, Order #2008135075 has been cancelled due to a pricing error. Your payment method will not be charged for this order, or a credit will be issued promptly.

We at Dell appreciate your business and are working hard to prevent similar issues in the future. Please donā€™t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

  • +2

mine's got cancelled as well. The friend working for dell is laughing like a crazy. Apparently he was teasing me.

    • +1

A pleb like him would have no clue

    • +2

With a friend like yours, who needs enemies šŸ˜œ

  • annnnddd time to move this to the forums

  • Dammit, they have got a lawsuit on their hands with this cancellation. I have not spent 3 days thinking up bad jokes and puns to post on Ozbargain for no good reason, I want compensation I tell you — COMPENSATION!!!

  • +1

    6:25am, mine hasn't been cancelled….yet

My order was placed just after 8am on D Day. And I didn't go through the whole online chat process. I only ordered one.

To the people that have had their orders cancelled, can you share some more details? I.e. order time, quantity,if you called/messaged them to change the status.

    • Check the emails. The oder on the website still says received.

      • Yeah I have checked both. Still nothing so far.

I'm HOPING their honouring like the first X Number of orders…
But realistically they are probably just taking some time to get back to cancelling everyone's

        • I ordered at 8:09 AM. Mine got cancelled.

          • @RSmith: Damn,

            What was your order quantity?

              • @RSmith: Yeah damn, sorry to hear….guess that seals my fate…..

This was fun whilst it lasted, now to just wait till they get me

                • +2

@whitepuma: Tbh, there wasn't any realistic chance to get it.

                  • @RSmith: bam, i just got it (the email, not the monitor)

    • Pretty sure they check each order one by one and send cancellation email manually, got a fd ordered same aw3821dw but received cancellation email like 2 hours ahead of mine.

It is not automated process so yours would come definitely.

Relax, have a coffee and wait for execution

    • +1

I placed the order at 7:39, one item, got cancelled :(

  • Game over!! Thanks for playing

  • -5

How do we start the backlash on dell for not honouring our orders?

    • +3

We move on to the next bargain. No point taking frustration out on the call centre reps.

      • That will get cancelled too

        • I didn't say bargain from Dell…

  • +2

I reckon they do this price error deliberately from time to time, so that they can make noise and get your email address kept in their database to spam you with promotion emails . What a doggy tactic

    • +2

nah i don't think so….the PR risk isn't worth it….especially when its so easy for you to unsubscribe or even simply NOT tick the "receive marketing emails/newsletters" box when entering your email.

    • +1

No doubt it is. They're probably attracting you in so that you might buy one of their genuinely discounted but old as the hills monitors that they were struggling to move.

    • Woof!

  • +3

I have a feeling that there will be deal for this monitor in coming days from our resident Dell deals expert: dellbot

  • +2

    Party is over.

  • +1

i think the true question is….when i do inevitably receive my cancellation, what meme should i respond with?

  • -4

"Please donā€™t hesitate to contact us with any questions."
You can count on it, will be contacting Monday…

    • +6

don't bother, you will be wasting your time.

for this decision to cancel orders to take this long, it's definitely come from higher up (or atleast had their involvement)…..everybody planning to call is just going to wasting both your own and some poor customer reps time.

it's well within their right to cancel

      • +3

Yeah but hell hath no fury like an OzB cheapskate scorned.

        • Lol

  • +8

This is just like waking up with the Queenā€™s newsā€¦ lol

    • +9

      This is much worse

  • +1

  • What time did everyone get the cancellations?

    • 724am

    • i received mine about 15 minutes ago, but by the looks of it people have been receiving them as soon as 4 hours ago (likely sooner than that aswell just they havent woken up to see it yet)

      • I got one at 3:33 and another at 7:28, surprised it took them this long to cancel.

        • mmm, doesn't suprise me tbh. These things happen with large mailing lists, and their likely not using outlook to do such a massive bulk email spread.

i work for a company where our customer mailing list was at about 50k emails…..We had to send something to all customers (not marketing related).

Took about 12 hours for all emails to go through, if the system did it any quicker it would be recognised as spam or could risk blocking our email address from major email hosts (i.e. gmail)

          • @whitepuma: Conpletely agree on the email batching process, I meant for the general cancellation, from Friday morning to Sunday morning, seems like a no brainer on the price error and should have been sorted Friday.

            • +1

@eggaz: ahyeah fair enough….i reckon it took so long because it had to go up the chain in command….and maybe they wanted to dot the i's and cross the t's with different departments (legal, marketing, distribution, customer service) before making their decision.

Likely they would have taken some time to see what the damage would have been for whichever choice they made before making the final decision.
supposedly more than 12,000 orders went through. assuming every order place for just 1 (they didn't, some people ordered 50) then that's $30mil RRP in stock…..if i were management i would definitely want to know all the facts for each option available before making a $30mil+ decision.

maybe they were thinking if the scale was small enough they would honour it?

              • +1

@whitepuma: Yeah fair points, plus gotta give them leeway for it being a weekend, particularly if they did run it up the various chains. All things considered the turnaround was within a reasonable timeframe. I think we all knew it was always going to be a mass csncellation.

                Haha ordering 50 is hilarious.

  • +16

I was cancelled too, but I see it now…… It was never about the damned monitor, it was about the friends I made along the way!!! I'll never forget you guys ā¤ļø

    • +5

Yeah, but just as fast as the friendship started it is now over.
It was just a summer fling at best because we were all blinded by a fake dream.

Finally got what i expected to received.
    A cancellation
    A closure
    Feeling peaceful now

  • +7

Think about ozbargainer @pharcyde… His wife serviced Dell CEO and mujeeb and he didn't even get a monitor after such sacrifice.

  • My order was cancelled at 6:54, was placed last Friday at 8:27.
FYI. I stopped buying from dell 3 years ago due to an authorised transaction. Dell did refund the money but ignored my complaints. I didnā€™t follow up since Covid started.
I only buy dell when crazy deals like this.

  • +6

probably because of all the harassment to the staff via online chat

  • +1

I just got their reply guys, Dell not honor it.

    • +2

See you in the next Dell price error :)

  • +1

    RIP

  • Did the confirmed/in production people get the same email?

    • +2

      Yup

      • So Muzeeb lied…

        • +7

I never tell untruths my friend. The murky world of online chat assistance is fraught with misinterpretation. Praise our omnipotent father Micheal Dell.

  • +2

    Cancelled

  • +11

    Lenovo > dell

  • Copium: They'll send out cancellations to the cancellation emails

  • Damn. Any chance Dell might give us some discount codes to use? This is my dream monitor.

    • +7

      In your dreams.

  • +1

    Got the cancellation email

  • +7

I got an email cancellation and a NFT of the monitor

  • +1

Congrats on cancellation emails boys and girls

  • +1

Dell doesnā€™t care about buyersā€™ negative feedback anymore

  • +1

Thanks OP, I enjoyed the ride!

  • +5

Pricing error becomes so easy and rude today, no respect to buyers at all.

  • +12

Update to a post i made earlier!

As a member for 15 years, this what will unfold in the next few daysā€¦

    Shock

I can sense we still have some members on denial here!

    Cancelled
    Rude email
    Dell doesnt care lol

    • +3

Did Dell use swear words in your email?

  • +9

Iā€™m honestly surprised they didnā€™t offer any discount or even a $10 voucher lol!

Company must be struggling with incoming recession fears…

  • -1

Not even a discount voucher for future purchases for all inconvenience caused. Probably expected too much from Dell.

    • +5

      What inconvenience?

      • By having collected our data for free, and giving false promises

  • +2

Is anyone's order still showing up under 'my orders'?

    • Yep, still haven't been canceled yet

      • Damn. Mine had progressed to in production via Muzeeb and I was hoping that, despite receiving the cancellation email, it might slip through. Ah well.

  • +1

    Canceled

  • How the hell they honoured the price error in Taiwan but not here??????

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/14195

    • +5

Seems like they got it honoured through complaints.. I bet so many people here will complain about this now

    • +4

That was a much smaller price error, so they could more easily afford to take the hit

    • +1

      Different law too btw

    • +2

in taiwan, you r not allowed to have the price error
      you have to honor it
      different law

  • +1

Those who had their ordered moved to confirmed/in production - did you all get cancelled too?

  • +9

No curved TV and no beer make homer something something…

contacting support on Monday and hope everyone who ordered does the same. Power to the people - let's change the outcome! āœŠ

  • Going to give a negative review on TrustPilot

      • +4

Lol agree but I want to contribute just because of a rude email they just sent.

    • Dell: Shiver me timbers.

  • +10

Woke up on Friday without a 38ā€ gaming monitor. Also woke up today without one.

Life is the same. The earth keeps rotating. Seasons keep changing. Iā€™m fine. We all are.

  • For everyone who got the email, is it showing cancelled in your order status on the dell site?

    • +1

No, but im sure it's still cancelled.

    • Mine's showing as received. Are you trying to suggest that the cancellation email was a mistake, just as the price for the monitor?

    • +1

Don't worry about it. I had an order that was lost in transit and Dell sent me a new one, the old order was never cancelled and still showed the item being shipped but never delivered.

They don't really care about updating the status page for incomplete/cancelled order.

  • +2

I knew it wasnt going to be a good outcome. But that email was filled with a lack of care for their customers. Probably one of the worst Ive seen.

"Our bad guys, no monitor for you lol"

    • +2

They were legally allowed to do that though. I think the only crappy thing is how long it took for Dell to cancel the order.

I reckon there were many that they had to run an overnight automation to batch cancel the orders.

    • +2

Did the email tell you to fā€¦ off?

  • +14

    Mine got cancelled:

"We inform you that your order of ā€œDell Alienware 38 Monitor - AW3821DWā€, Order #2008135021930 has been cancelled due to the high amount of rotten no good nicks from the sewers of OzBargain taking advantage of an obvious pricing error. I mean, WTF!, did you really expect us to honor this price and take such a massive hit. YOU and your mates at OzBargain are nothing but rotten, bottom-feeding algae scum!

We at Dell don't appreciate your type around.

    FU twice!

    Dell Cunstomer Care"

    • +3

Haha that should be the email sent a few of the deluded and self-entitled members here.

  • +1

Well they better f***** process a refund quick smart since my card was charged (in production status)

    • +1

Mine still in Pending charge though… Was yours already fully charged?

      • Still pending currently but thatā€™s like every purchase

        • Yeah, but many companies will just let the authorisation expires and the transaction just seems like it never happened instead of performing the refunds manually.

  • +1

    We demand reparations

    • -1

You want reparation? Go to a church ;p

  • "We are sorry to inform you that your order of ā€œDell Alienware 38 Monitor - AW3821DWā€, Order ######### has been cancelled due to a pricing error. Your payment method will not be charged for this order, or a credit will be issued promptly.
We at Dell appreciate your business and are working hard to prevent similar issues in the future. Please donā€™t hesitate to contact us with any questions."

So no voucher and just wondering how about those chat with support?

As I said before more chance the OP can get it if only one order.

    • Hey I managed to order at 7:37am before this post went up and my order was cancelled :(

      • Long time ago I ordered my Dlink router from Amazon UK reducted from $3xx to $6x, I did receive it.

  • -5

We can pay it by EFT manually, the payment detail is in the first email you received. And talke to the support that we have paid. Give them extra work to refund. Hope this can force them to honour.

    • +7

Am I the only one that thinks this sounds dumb as bricks? ā€œForce themā€ by handing them money, which they will eventually refund. Donā€™t you have better things to do with the money you have lying around, like chucking it in a HISA, paying off high interest debt or putting it into investments? Who knows how long itā€™ll take to refund you and whether you will need to follow up on it because it will likely be manual.

      • Yes, dummy and their money soon part.

    • +1

Give them extra work to refund. Hope this can force them to honour.

      They won't

  • Finally received the cancelation email. Still doesn't show it on my Dell Account order though

  • My order was cancelled. I am in tears.

  • Mine was cancelled too… same email as what others have posted.

    • Associated all got cancelled?

      • Sorry, not sure how I managed to ticket the associated box, but I have no connection to Dell.

  • +1
    • UPDATE orders SET order_status = 'CANCELLED' WHERE order_id IN (SELECT order_id FROM orders WHERE product_code = 'AW3821DW' AND price = '249.01' AND order_date >= '2022-09-16')
    • +1

By this logic, everyone's initial orders would have still progressed through because orders made on Friday morning were showing as 15/9 šŸ˜ƒ

  • Hahaha called it suckers. No need to fomo if you missed out on this deal when it was 100% going to be cancelled anyways.

    • +8

Casually scrolling through to see how many salty people I can find. Every blatant price error people get so upset. They never learn.

      • -1

At least they provide us free entertainment.

      • +1

For me the cancellation isnā€™t so much of an issue, if itā€™s a legitimate price error then fair enough. The email response and the delay in sending it was disappointing though. It came off as insincere, I think it could have been managed better.

The rest of it was a bunch of jokes and laughs for us. I donā€™t think many if at all anyone is actually salty about the cancellation. It maybe the poorly drafted email that people took objection to.

        • +1

Probably took time for management to investigate and make a decision. What was the issue with the email? Is it because they didn't give you compensation?

          • +2

@Clear: Have you read the email? How it was worded.

            The ā€œinternal use - confidentialā€ line.

It comes off as unprofessional and insincere irrespective of compensation.

We have seen other price errors handled much better from smaller businesses. You would expect much more from a large organisation such as Dell, or maybe not. Haha.

            • @gamemaster:

We have seen other price errors handled much better from smaller businesses.

Like Shopback? Everyone's personal information and passwords stolen. After a bonus $3 all is forgiven. Significantly a bigger deal than having a little sook over 3 words in a cancellation email.

              • @Clear: Thatā€™s a different issue and that was handled poorly. A data breach, not a pricing error. Itā€™s comparing oranges to apples.

In any case Iā€™ve blacklisted Shopback and closed my account with them.

Iā€™m not sure why this is making you upset?

                • -2

                  @gamemaster:

Iā€™m not sure why this is making you upset?

Isn't that you? Everyone who is complaining about an "insincere" email and a very blatant price error not being honoured.

I always have the time of my life pointing these out in every price error deal. This one time in a HP laptop deal I was getting negged and being told I was wrong when I said the ACCC won't do anything no matter how much you report it.

When people came back weeks later to say that the ACCC said HP did nothing wrong…. man was I happy.

                  • @Clear: Iā€™m not upset by the email, Iā€™m pointing out itā€™s not a great one IMO.

Given the time taken to respond to the obvious pricing error, they could have put a little more effort into the email. Brand reputation is essential in business, why tarnish it with what I read as a poorly drafted email.

Personally I think they sent out the wrong email, that would certainly add to the drama of it all.

                    • @gamemaster: Seems likely that the draft email is the final email and they just didn't remove that line.

          • +2

            @Clear:

What was the issue with the email?

They didn't leak everyone's email address in CC's so that we could have a nice old reply-all chat.

  • +21

I LOLā€™ed at those geniuses spending hours trying to get ā€œconfirmedā€ only to be cancelled

    • +2

Myself and others said it pretty early on. That means jack shit until the order is actually shipped šŸ¤£

    • -2

Let's just wait and see hey?
Tracking numbers have to mean something right? xD - Thats all im saying

    • This is why, when I find a deal, unfortunately I keep it to myself. Thought Iā€™ve never seen anything as good as this - I assume experts with their price checking sites knew about it very early on and who knows if they got it

  • +22

You know what to do next time all jump on chat together asking about the price error.

    • donkeys, ruined it for everyone lmao. reminiscent of a naruto run at area 51, what did they expect to happen??? hahahaha

  • +2
    • +3

      ACCC is a Toothless tiger.

    • +10

Why would they? ACCC and consumer law specifically covers that cancelling orders due to a price error is legal.

      • They are not toothless.

They are a political org so only interested in issues that can make the news headlines.

  • +2

This just in - Muzeeb spotted taking delivery of 1200 AW3821DWs after updating the delivery address for all our orders to Hyderabad, and sending out a mass cancellation email to the Ozbargain collective.

  • +2

Some people will still receive monitors. Just wait.

    • +12

Yes, those who paid full price.

  • +7

On the plus side, at least we got to laugh at the clowns who thought they could outsmart the ordering system.

    • +9

Now watch those clowns try to involve the ACCC

      • +1

So embarrassing. I ordered early but the initial invoice didnā€™t look right, I thought, might get a voucher at least, oh well

  • +2

I received a cancellation email too, at the bottom in a small grey font it says:

    Internal Use - Confidential

    • Me too

    • Exactly. That email wasnā€™t meant for us.

      Not over fellas.

      /s

      • So… Who was it meant for?

  • +2

How many people are going to be filing complaints on Monday? I assume alot of people

    • +2

      Doing it right now!

      • How? Emailing?

        • +17

          Yelling at the clouds

        • +1

Itā€™s Sunday. They are confessing in their church.

          • @edfoo: Did you see someone confessing in your church?

    • Only desperate and loser will do. Its already Wednesday tho. Have you got anything?

  • Nice! No more Dell products from now on!

    • +1

How many did you buy before?

      • -1

Dealbot will be having a hard time when posting a Dell deal next time.

  • -3

Please go leave your 1 star reviews!!

    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/dell-australia

    • +4

      Lol this troll review:

I purchased a Dell monitor and payment was made. Dell waited a few days and sent me an email saying the order was cancelled. Initially I was a little peeved, but phoned support who told me they would in this one instance, honor the price but could not do it for everyone as there simply wasn't enough stock. Basically, they turned around and made this customer happy rather than frustrated. I rate Dell at 3 only because it didn't have to be initially so frustrating until I spoke up

    • +1

      Here we go Ozbargain Army!!

    • +20

Dude this is a bit ridiculous. It was obviously a mistake. Itā€™s full on entitlement to expect them to honour a price thatā€™s a total mistake. And then review bombing them.

      • What do you expect? There are idiots in this world.

  • +9

I reckon they sent out the wrong email.
The one they sent seems like a draft.
Formatting is off and itā€™s not worded well. Itā€™s comes off as insincere.

I think the ā€œinternal use - confidentialā€ at the end of the email also suggests this.

Having to wait two days for this email is disappointing and to be honest seems unprofessional. Even though the most likely outcome was cancellations it could have been handled better by Dell with open, honest and swifter communication.

Maybe the used this event as business promotion and to add additional customers onto their books? I might be a little cynical.

    Until the next price errors…

    • +4

Nah the internal use is just another evidence to show how bad Dell is. Cannot even check the email properly

    • +1

"I don't care anymore, just send it, put them out of their misery."

      — some mid-level manager after trying to get a decision by HQ on their day off, probably.

  • I was hoping theyā€™d at least offer EOFY pricing

  • I have not received my order. Therefore, I am requesting a refund. I invoke my rights under Kickstarter's Term of Use:

    https://www.kickstarter.com/terms of use/oct2012

''Projects Creators are required to fulfill all rewards of their successful fundraising campaigns or refund any Backer whose reward they do not and cannot fulfill.''

This is a formal request for a refund of my pledge amount.

I want a full refund of the total amount pledged for the project.

So which is the best email address to send my long complaint to?

    Dell | Order Received <[email protected]> - NO
[email protected] - Better but not great

    • I love you 3000.

Here's a tip for future pricing errors.

"If a pricing error is genuine, a retailer may be able to back out of a sale particularly if no money has changed hands.

The situation can be very different if you've paid for a purchase." - https://www.moneymag.com.au/price-tags-consumer-law-your-rigā€¦

If people had paid via EFT (bank transfer), there would be real grounds for getting the monitor.

    • I was one of very very few people that paid with eft. Do you have a official government link that shows that if you have already paid you get to receive it?

      • Nah I don't. It's really up to the seller and how much hassle they want to go through. The ACCC/Fair Trading will question them and waste a bit of their time if complaints are made. Dell may choose to avoid the hassle and deliver some of monitors but that may make them responsible to deliver all they reasonably can. I think Dell is choosing the cheaper 'hassle-full' option over the more expensive less-hassle option in this case.

Price errors are more commonly honoured than not. There are numerous pricing errors listed on OzB that have been honoured. The last one I missed out on was the Anaconda metal detector deal. Ended up being 40% off a 40% off price. That was an awesome deal and fully honoured. Sadly I got in late.

A few years ago Amazon listed some Sony alpha cameras for 10% of the price (90% off) and they honoured 1 per order. It went down in history in the Sony photography community.

I purchased a pro mic for my camera for $8 (RRP was $349) a couple years back - an obvious price error. That business honoured it.

Businesses do honour pricing errors more than the naysayers here lead on.

It was totally reasonable to have had hope for this deal but it appears we haven't been so lucky this time.

        You a cop?

The 3 people the negged this post should be removed from ozbargain.

This deal was as good as it gets….sure, it got cancelled, sure it was highly unlikely that we get it, but this post and deals like this are the true representation of what ozbargain is about

    • +3

"but this post and deals like this are the true representation of what ozbargain is about"
      OzBargain is about GETTING deals…
I just don't know this deal is "as good as it gets"

      • +1

Yes…and you got the deal, it's only after 2 days the business declined it, the post should not be downvoted for that, go vent your frustrations with the business.

The post and the OP did everything right

        • +2

Wow, actually I think the positive upvotes before a deal has come through are in the wrong. It creates a false sense of a good deal from a unobtainable one.

          • +2

@lonewolf: This is a good deal. We get free entertainment for 2 days. The adrenaline, the tension, the hope.

            Its priceless.
            Should have 20,000 positive upvotes
