[Price Error] Alienware 38" Curved Gaming Monitor - AW3821DW $249.01 Delivered @ Dell » All Comments

              • @lonewolf: And at the end we get what we entitled to. Cancellation.

They didnt mislead anything. We were buying a piece of cancellation email from dell. We bought their time. And we spent $0 to create panic at one of the biggest company in the world.

                Priceless

          • -5

@lonewolf: People should have common sense to realise this is a price error. Anyone too dumb or ignorant to realise this only have themselves to blame.

            • +1

@edfoo: This is OB, we're here for bargains, and you're just asking to be NEGGED outa here. If you're "too dumb to realise" its a price error, then we can all say sorry for you feeling entitled to being here. The bargain deal wouldnt have been considered OB worthy in the first place if it wasn't for the amazing price that most of us here went in and spent our time processing our legitimate payments on their official website.

              • @cheapskatehaggler: Don't care about getting negged. I am not saying we all can't have a punt on price error products on OzBargain, what I am referring to are those people who are either too dumb or ignorant on this deal, then later complaining about having their orders cancelled and wasted their time.

Cancelled Alienware 38" Order after a few days but made an exception ONLY after complaining
    published 4 hours ago

I purchased a Dell monitor and payment was made. Dell waited a few days and sent me an email saying the order was cancelled. Initially I was a little peeved, but phoned support who told me they would in this one instance, honor the price but could not do it for everyone as there simply wasn't enough stock. Basically, they turned around and made this customer happy rather than frustrated. I rate Dell at 3 only because it didn't have to be initially so frustrating until I spoke up.

    • It just goes to show that being a nuisance customer pays off rather than sitting meekly… I'll be phoning tomorrow morning, too.

      • +3

Let us know how that goes, I'll be surprised if they actually honour it

    • +23

Fake review as the support lines are closed today.

      • yeah was about to say that…..unless they got cancelled on friday….but too much of a coincidance given the time of the review

        • +3

unless they got cancelled on friday

Not possible as the review says… "Dell waited a few days and sent me an email saying the order was cancelled."

    • +6

The best troll, there'll be numpties on here hopping mad after reading that and ringing up first thing Monday morning.

  • I will forever have trust issues with anyone called Muzeeb

  • +1

In fact some people will get their monitors. Unbelievable! Lucky bastards! Yeah, I am jealous! haha

    • Lol where. No one seems to be getting their monitors.

    • +2

      All orders have been cancelled.

      • +4

        not all xD

        • +1

Yup… But not telling whoo got them

    • How do you know?

  • +20

What a Outrage! How dare they cancel my $2500 monitor that I would of paid $249 for!!
I’ll be calling Dell at 830am then the ACCC then any and all media! Class action against Muzeeb also!

    • +9

The funny part is that people will actually do this.

  • +2

    My order been cancelled

  • +4

why couldnt one order pass through just to tilt some people harder and keep this party going :(

  • +2

Is it worth getting the Monitor for 1700?
Or do I get the 34" OLED one for $1800?

    • Not worth it.

      • Agree. Just keep checking ozb, for another muzeeb fat finger accident price error saga

        • We need to boycott Dell

          • +2

@Nathw: And vote muzeeb to be dell ceo
            Make dell great again!

    • +4

By all accounts it's an excellent monitor. Personally I'm waiting for sub $1500, but if you've got the budget and need it now, that's up to you as only you can know what value it can bring you (what your uses are). Ignore the dude saying "not worth it" lol, he's been having a sook across the thread.

      • +1

excellent way to put it, thks mate

        • +1

No worries mate. These are the two monitors (this dell one and an LG one) I've been looking at and Rtings does a good job comparing them (pretty much the same sort of performance) https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/lg-38wn95c-w-vs…

        • -1

I reckon just wait for the sub $1500 price… It has been happening quite regularly. Also if you buy from Dell ebay during a discount period, the invoice will show the full price which means you get more tax rebates out of it if you also use this for work…

          • +2

@meong: Pretty sure that’s fraud? Claiming more on a tax rebate than you actually spent.

            • @hungry analyst: you claim based on the invoice anyway, surely if you put more or less it will become an issue with your tax return?

      • +1

I have had this monitor for the last year or so. It's a great monitor but depending on use case I'd be considering the AW3423DW (OLED) instead for a similar price. It's a much more spectacular looking monitor with actual functioning HDR if using it for gaming and streaming. Unfortunately I use my monitor for work the majority of the time so the larger size for the AW3821DW probably would still win out but depends what you use it for.

    • +1

dell marketing: QUICKLY MAKE OZBARGAIN ACCOUTN AND EMPHATICALLY REPLY YES

  • -3

This is the Lameovo thing all over again

    • ?

      • I think it's the $100 credit for signing up for the loyalty program. Except with Lenovo they actually honoured it, besides the people who kept the credit in the account which later got removed.

Also, what's the story with the Muzeeb simping? Not bothered reading 21 pages of comments.

        • Save your energy chickens

        • Also, what's the story with the Muzeeb simping?

One of the CSA named Muzeeb changed order status to confirmed for some of the ozbargainers.

          • @RSmith: Ahh right. Its never really confirmed until there's a tax invoice or tracking number. Though there have been instances where companies claw back shipments.

  • +5

    My order just got cancelled.
They changed the status to in production yesterday, but now the dreaded cancellation came though.

I was kind of expecting it but oh well.

    • +1

Order status page still showing In Production though?

  • -10
    • +24

They did the right thing. They have no obligation to honour a pricing error. Especially one that would cause a big loss.

To think that it should be honoured no matter what is what we call being a Karen these days.

They certainly screwed up by forgetting to remove the draft heading. But hey Shopback had all our personal information stolen and all is forgiven so this is nothing.

    • +23

Lmao imagine you’re being entitled to any sort of compensation for an obvious price error to which they have no responsibility of honouring, then teaching them how to do marketing.

      • There’s a lot of people believe they are entitled for so many things and self centred as well. The what’s in it for me mentality is pretty disgusting along complaining not honouring price errors.

    • +7

You can't even spell 'their' correctly. Marketing opportunity my ass lol

  • +2

did anyone notice the "Internal Use - Confidential" in the email?

    • Read that too but seems doesn’t make any sense

    • +4

"Internal Use - Confidential" in the email?

May be on purpose leaked Internal email, they are testing our response XD

  • Anyone else have their in production order change to shipped? The tracking number doesn't work yet though.

    Doubt it means anything

    • +1

Nearly every order got canceled, so I doubt someone actually has theirs shipped

      • nearly ;..;

    • -5

Dell made an epic mistake, and decided to punch themselves in the face at the same time. So funny… LOL

      • +11

I think you’re in denial lol. It’s ok mate, you didn’t lose anything. Stop being so entitled.

      • +6

        Dell made an epic mistake,

They are already rated 1.4/5 with 800 reviews. They have nothing to lose and your few reviews won't even make a difference.

    • +12

OzBargainers will forgot about it. This is nothing compared to the Shopback breach and look how popular their posts are.

    • +2

      I ordered 2 x 38" monitors on special.

Was that the price error special they are referring too. 🤦‍♂️

    • Rage Rage!

  • +1

I think theres something seriously wrong with their pricing backend: https://twitter.com/search?q=dell%20price%20error&src=typed_…

Insane amount of price errors in the past if you search twitter. Imagine if a company like Apple did this sort of thing, how is it possible for such a large company?

    • +3

There's only one Muzeeb in the world

    • +2

Apple had a pricing error on a MacBook Air release way back when.. 2011, I think. I managed to spec out ram, processor etc. purchased 4 at the base rate and they honoured.

      • +1

Nice. I snatched the 13 Pro Max from Telstra for $500 last October. Should have been $154/month but they missed the 1st digit. Got $100 gift card bonus too.

        • Damn how did you manage that

          • @HairyChickens: Not sure if you know about that deal. Someone posted it here on 31/10, however removed by Mod due to no stock at that time. I tried to order via chat with an agent on Monday and successful got it. Was about to post the deal again but Telstra fixed the price.

  • From product review:

I purchased a Dell monitor and payment was made. Dell waited a few days and sent me an email saying the order was cancelled. Initially I was a little peeved, but phoned support who told me they would in this one instance, honor the price but could not do it for everyone as there simply wasn't enough stock. Basically, they turned around and made this customer happy rather than frustrated. I rate Dell at 3 only because it didn't have to be initially so frustrating until I spoke up.

  • -3

Makes me laugh reading comments of people defending the company and their money.. This company chews on piles of cash every day, globally.. you really think half a mil in losses be a big deal for a fish that big?

    • +12

How long do you think it would take to recoup half a mil in losses from the ozb community? It's totally not worth it. They're not stupid enough to process these orders.

  • +3

Was it just me, or did you guys also get an incorrectly addressed email.

In my case, i got one that commenced:

    Dear SURNAME, FIRST NAME,

I mean wow - they can't even address me correctly….

    • Is that the names you put in the original order?

      • My original order was in the name

        FIRST NAME SURNAME

        • Mine was screwed up too. They rushed these emails out too quickly.

    • Same

  • +3

Thanks Dell! Now I am of to Lenovo to buy a new laptop…..

    • +3

Nope im loyal with dell, i will stay and wait for next price errors.
      Long live muzeeb

      • +1

        All Hail Muzeeb
        We are the Muzeeb Army

        • +1

What for? He turned out to be a big fat liar.

      • +1

        Plot twist Muzeeb is Dealbot.

        • +2

I am a little surprised Dealbot didn't intervene here.

Perhaps he has less influence with Dell then he would like us to believe…..

          • +3

@TheCandyMan2020: He only involves with genuine deals, not price error "deals".

          • +2

@TheCandyMan2020: Yeah, he should have talked to his "contacts" in Dell and make this into a real deal. Anyways, he went missing when the team needed him the most.

            • +1

@RSmith: Dealbot knows most of us here expecting this price error to be cancelled and laughed it off. And it is not worth his effort helping those few bottom-feeding scums who still think they are entitled to this monitor.

              • +16

@edfoo: I did reach out to a Dell rep about this and asked if they will honour it. You all know the response now.

I’ve also asked for some kind of compensation and there hasn’t been any response.

Anyway, looks like enough people have been in contact with Dell. I’m sure they know the severity of the issue without me getting involved.

                • @Taegukgi: Did yourself manage to order one? dealbot

                  • +12

@Nathw: No, I didn’t bother ordering as I knew it was a price error and had almost no chance of being honoured.

              • +5

                @edfoo:

                few bottom-feeding scums

                What's with all this anger?

                • +2

@RSmith: probably his resentment to those who beat him to all previous awesome OB deals that he missed out on. lmao. Admin please get @edfoo outa here, the OB community can do without his negativity.

                  • @cheapskatehaggler: What previous awesome OB deals I missed out on? I got all the OB deals I wanted thank you very much.

                • @RSmith: Haha I was just quoting one of the "email" posted by a fellow member earlier.

    • +3

TBH as far as gaming laptops are concerned Lenovo > Alienware > Dell anyway

Dell and Alienware still havent figured out cooling high end GPU's in laptops properly.

  • Can Muzeeb be an OzB Wiki term describing GOATed store employees haha?

Apparently Muzeeb means "To Soften Hearts"

  • +1

    Muzeeb gets the last laugh.

  • +8

Cancelled but no store credit/coupon?! We are very very disappointed Dell.

    • +4

      Dell: You're not worthy.

  • ( 6m 2s ) Dell Advisor - Gyanita: I understand that the product was on sale and due to error it was cancelled, Our team is working on it and you will get an update in 24hrs

    • When was this?? After the cancellation email?

      • +1

        Yup

        • -2

There is a glimmer of hope

  • The original webpage and pricing has not been lost: archive.org

Unless your order is marked as shipped, there's no legal leg to stand on:
3.2 Your order is an offer to buy the Product(s) the subject of your order. Dell may send you an Order Confirmation to acknowledge receipt of your order, however Dell does not accept your order until you receive notice from Dell that the Product(s) you have ordered has shipped. source

Their hasty "pricing error" email with footer "Internal Use - Confidential" is a marketing flop. It's not too late for a store coupon offer to save some face in this PR sh!tstorm…

    • +1

Even if it's shipped, the company can claim back as long as the effort of claiming back does not cost you money (as in they pay for their own courier to do so).

But in most cases if they already accidentally ship it, usually they won't be bothered reclaiming it…

  • -7

Would anyone be willing to represent OzBargain on ACA? I know Tracey is gone, well sort-of, she made a comeback with the happenings of the queen.
Maybe somebody here who has a sympathetic story… I could write to them and say that I was recently scammed by a Lebanese conman builder who performed shonky renovations and had a miracle aging pill he didn't want me to see. I installed hidden cameras which revealed that the builder is fat. After all this, all my child wanted was a Alienware 38" monitor for $249.01 but now Dell/Muzeeb let us down in the most un-Australian way.

    • -1

I was recently scammed by a Lebanese conman builder who performed shonky renovations

      Irish might be more believable.

    • +9

Muzeeb did his best. The one who truely let us down was Joseph.

    • +6

but now Dell/Muzeeb let us down in the most un-Australian way.

Price errors are covered by consumer law and don't have to be honoured. That's not un-Australian. It is Australian.

      • Which particular consumer law are you referring to?

    • +2

Make sure you include a video of yourself rolling and crying on the floor. It's more attention grabing and viral worthy to see an adult act like a child, than a child acting like a child.

  • +7

Bargainers, we need to storm their online chat tomorrow.

  • +23

Lol everyone on this site are just a bunch of (profanity) idiots mad about not getting a price error

    • +15

Not everyone. Most expected cancellation on this price error and laughed it off. Just a few of them are idiots.

      • +2

Are you associated with Dell? If yes, please tick the associated checkbox.

        https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/7fecfb8f-5c51-5420-…

        • +10

Nope. I have bought a few Dell monitors from past OzBargain deals, and appreciate them. I just think a few members are being ridiculous.

          • +8

@edfoo: Ridiculous is putting it lightly. They're being full blown sooky Karen's.

  • We are sorry to inform you that your order of “Dell Alienware 38 Monitor - AW3821DW”, Order #xxx has been cancelled due to a pricing error. Your payment method will not be charged for this order, or a credit will be issued promptly.

We at Dell appreciate your business and are working hard to prevent similar issues in the future. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

    Sincerely,

    Dell Customer Care

    • -5

      Make a complaint.

      • +4

Write the complaint on a piece of paper, rip it up and recycle.

  • Who is Eddie?

    • From Fluidtek?

      • +3

If this was Fluidtek then Eddie would say how he's buddies with the cops, point to the certificate on the wall and then kick you out. Dell needs a Fast Eddie for all the turds abusing them in email and chat.

    • He’s an expert

  • +29

Sad to see some people lacks of self-respect for this thread. It’s fun to jump on the bandwagon and hopefully waiting for the lottery but that’s it. Dell doesn’t have to honour the orders and they did so deal with it. Why being so pathetic blackmailing the company with bad reviews, etc? If the amount of orders is fewer, we might all get it. I bet there are a lot of people who ordered >2 or using multiple accounts, they are the one should be hated by the others not Dell.

    • +5

Why being so pathetic blackmailing the company with bad reviews, etc?

Correct. Shouldn't be done. However, the company doesn't have much good reviews to begin with and a few more bad reviews won't hurt their reputation.

I think people knew it was a price error and were expecting some sort of a freebie or a discount voucher to make up for the mistake. Dell could have easily sold the monitor for cost price + 10% profit + postage and handling.

    • As I have said on the early part of this thread. There are too many desperate Cs in here. Really desperate like a parasite. Imagine. Can't really move on.

  • +2

Hmm I noticed the AW3821DW page is still broken and the Dell chat is still not available. I wonder if there will be any further correspondence sent today?

  • +7

    Move on people.

  • +53

wow you some of you guys are absolutely genuine toxic arseholes giving a one star review on productreview because dell made a obvious pricing error. Seriously some of you really need to take a long hard look at yourselves and go outside and touch grass.

    absolutely toxic

    • +1

      absolutely genuine toxic arseholes

      Mr. Harvey calls them Professionals.

    • -13

I am quite surprised that mods allow this sort of personal attack.

It also seems a little hypocritical to be calling users those names while at the same time complaining of those same users being toxic…..

      • +11

Hit close to home did I?

It's a genuine response and yes you're a complete an utter loser at life if you go around giving one star reviews and abusing a online retailer because you didn't get a $2000 monitor for $200 from a very obvious pricing mistake.

I stand by my comment, if you did this you're a complete arsehole as both a person and at life. Add me to your block list because I never want to ever interact with these people. And I sincerely hope Dell blocks every single nut job that did this and sent in abusive emails from ever purchasing anything from them again. Alternatively put them on a list and charge a arsehole fee of +50% over retail.

In terms of your comment however you need to get a grip on reality.

        • -7

And I stand by my comments that:

          a) such insults would generally result in a ban
          b) it is hypocritical to on one hand accuse people of being toxic and at the same time be using insulting names

    • +6

These toxic people would be the first to loot and kill everyone when an apocalypse happen. Judging this by looking at the way they behave when didn't got a gaming display for cheap dirt $250

    • +1

All the butthurt people in here could have considered buying the 32" Xiaomi ultrawide for $428 and it is still a great product: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/724382

      • Out of stock.

  • +25

So I called my Dell account manager about this today. He said that he's glad he's not in the department that has to handle this shitshow. He did however mention that a lot of OzBargainers have been sending in abuse. Disgusting behaviour.

    • -8

He did however mention that a lot of OzBargainers have been sending in abuse

Do the people sign off on their abusive emails as an ozbargainer?

      • +7

It's a big mystery where all these orders came from isn't it?

        • -7

… and 100% of them came from ozbargain. Right?

          • +7

@RSmith: Nah but a good majority did. So it's fair to assume that a good portion of those hurling abuse are from OzBargain? Especially considering the comments many have already made in these 23 pages of comments.

Plenty of other deals previously have had the same thing happen. This community can be super toxic when it comes to price errors and small business freebies getting exploited. The fact that people defend this behaviour is even worse.

            • +4

@Clear: A couple of users are definitely from OZB. Some accounts on the productreview site had both similar usernames and comments to what was posted on Ozb.

            • +1

              @Clear:

This community can be super toxic when it comes to price errors and small business freebies getting exploited

Also, this community can be quite myopic when criticising companies. Anything by HN is usually looked down upon and if they make a mistake, then all hell breaks loose. No one defends them like some are doing for Dell.

              • @RSmith: Defending them against abuse that others are encouraging. Big difference between complaining and abusing.

    • +3

not sure what they're expecting making people wait 2 days before cancelling, such a slow response

      • -1

        Maybe accolades according to some.

      • +7

So that's grounds to hurl abuse at other people? Because you're not getting a price error.

        • +3

i'm not excusing bad behavior, but its only expected imo

its like you take a candy away from a baby, you expect it to just stay there and be happy

          • @abctoz: Has it occurred to you why it may have taken 2 days for the email? Time to consider the options of proceeding or cancelling. So how long of a wait does abuse become expected? Or maybe I should ask RSmith who encourages it.

            • @Clear:

Or maybe I should ask RSmith who encourages it.

              Company's own behaviour.

              • @RSmith: Where did they hurl abuse?

                • @Clear: encouraged.

                  • @RSmith: How do you justify abusing Dell employees for not honouring a price error?

                    • +1

@Clear: I am not justifying any abuse… my position regarding abusing employees is the same as yours… shouldn't take place.

            • +3

@Clear: the why is irrelevant, they're a business they should understand this, all that matters is the response and the way it was delivered

again I never endorse abuse, I'm just saying they should be prepared for the eventuality

    • I guess you get what you deserve….

      • +3

Ah so Dell deserve abuse because they're not honouring a price error?

        • Not abuse, but certainly complaints.

          • +5

@TheCandyMan2020: Oh yeah that's different. It's fair to complain that it was a price error and the response was slow. It's also fair for them not honour the price error. Abuse on the other hand is never ok.

        • +1

I guess the negative feedback from the speed and management of a price error is a good checks and balance process.
They should build a automatic process that prevents publishing of prices below a % of GP to their portal without manual review / escalation. A 2fa process if you will.

They don't deserve abuse, but people expect better for such a large globally managed company.
Also a 2 day response for such an unprofessional email is ridiculous. Dell could have made many many more steps to avoid frustrating people, but they didn't.
          That lands on Dell.

    • Do you think that cancellation email on Sunday will be the last we hear?
I didn't expect the orders to go through but was hoping for 'whoops our bad, here's a code to make it up for you' or something but after that email I'm thinking that could be the end of it

      • +3

Compensation would require high level discussions, so it's entirely possible that they are weighing up those options. Obvious pros and cons for offering compensation or not. If I was in upper management and saw the abuse in email/live chat etc. I'd straight up reject any offers of compensation.

        • Guess we wait and see
They've obviously already taken a hit on top of that vitriol, warehouse would've been a shitshow on Friday and they've had people working over the weekend to get that email out. Hopefuly they at least get some sales out of it, I know I hadn't thought about a 38" monitor before but now I have

  • +2

Still no cancellation email, but I’m preparing for the eventual fact that my dream of viewing OzBargain on a 38” curved monitor won’t materialise soon.

  • +13

What has happened to this community?

Firstly, I missed out on this 'deal' by about 1 hour when no more orders were been taken, I won't lie, I was gutted!
Still, I was excited to see if Dell would honour this, but we've all been here before and these genuine price errors are seldom honoured (It's why most companies have a clause in their T&Cs about it).

Seeing Dell's review board plastered with heaps of 1-star reviews because it wasn't honoured is pretty disgusting and disappointing to see.

    Be a better person.

    • +7

Uncovering that a few long term members with a lot of deals are some of the worst of this community it seems.

    • +4

lets be real and not pretend that dell really care about their review site, or that it will make any difference to their business.

      • +1

I work for a company with over 2000 employees, and brand reputation (namely trust) is hugely important. Product Review is a site our marketing team frequently looks at and even tailors socials posts towards. They definitely care even with the decision they've made (albeit the company I'm at maintains a near 5 star average). I'm not defending Dell in the slightest btw. In fact I'm kinda hoping they do a backpedal and honour this just to see how those who ripped into them for a price error (not the first or last we'll see) would react.

        • +1

I know Miele for example often contact people who leave bad reviews and offer to resolve their complaints in return for removing the bad review….

      • +3

It's gives ozbargain a bad name imo. I don't mention anything about ozb irl incase people think I'm that type.

    • +4

Its funny to see how entitled someone gets with these blatant price error deals.

Doubt Dell cares about their online reviews but its more telling on someone that went to the effort of creating an account to leave a bad review just because the deal wasn't honoured lol

    • +1

Same with OzBargain. Sockpuppets who get done.

      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/ozbargain

      • +4

Wow, I didn't know OzBargain is rated so low (2.8 stars). Must be those sore losers who did not get their price error deals negging this website too, not just negging the sellers.

        • If you cared to read the 1 star reviews, most are about the other users and mods.

    • Publicity stunt… as it says towards the end of the video.

    • +2

We all know which Ozbargin member is the angry guy!!

  • Where's my cancellation email?

    • +2

Imminently coming, just like mine, I am still yet to receive mine.

  • +2

I think mod should close this endless and pointless discussion off.

    Let’s move on guys.

    • +7

      dirtyhen is Joseph confirmed

    • +1

Price error threads usually become forum posts, but looks like the mods have hit the snooze button on this one.

  • +5

I have officially taken Muzeeb off my Christmas card list.

    • +2

He doesn't celebrate Christmas, so it would have been offensive to send him a card.

  • +17

I never expected to get the pricing error honored.
But it is interesting to me just how broken this process has been.

A pricing error stays up for ~ an hour
A significant enough number of people order it that Dell consider not honoring the price to be the more sensible business option than the wave of good PR from nerds that will talk incessantly about their great deal.
An email goes out asking people to reach out if they have any questions, with no information on how to send Dell questions.
The email address used doesn't accept email and responds with a Bounce-back
If you contact the support number on the order page for your order that is still active they'll tell you it's a sales issue and they can't help.
So far I haven't found a sales person that can help either and the support agent I spoke to was unable or unwilling to put me in-contact with someone who could assist.
At this point in time I still have an active order and money allocated in my purchasing method to a pending order from Dell.

No matter what side of this deal you're on I think we can all agree Dell really need to have a serious discussion internally about how bad their error handling processes are.
2 days to send out any kind of confirmation is pretty poor form.
Not leaving any support number is poor form.
Not leaving alternative purchase options is poor form.
Not cancelling the payment for order(s) is poor form.
Not having your support line able to support a customer is really poor form.

    • -3

Lol how dare you. You’re such a bully.

    • +5

      100% excellent points

      • email looks very unfinished - including the reference to “Internal Use – Confidential”
      • pretty poor that they say reach out, but then don't tell you how and email bounces back

Given they chose to contact buyers via email, surely they should provide an email to reply to. It wouldn't be hard to set one up temporarily, get the flood of complaints, deal with them and then close the email.

      Suggestions include:
      [email protected]
      [email protected]
      [email protected]

      • +8

The second point is the one that sticks out to me.

It's particularly bad faith to claim you're open to feedback while not having any channel to provide feedback.
While I'm sure this is just incompetence, that isn't something that Dell should just accept internally.

The pricing error isn't much of an issue, it happens, however all the processes surrounding customer experience when something goes wrong need pretty serious review.

It seems like they're just winging it, which for a company the size of Dell is absolutely not going to meet customer expectation, which they probably don't care too much about as the majority of their business is enterprise. But at the same time why have a customer experience team if they're not effective ?

It's also crazy to me that there's seemingly no process for passing a support request from one team to another when a given team can't support a customer. lodging a ticket and getting back to the customer is pretty standard.

    • +1

More than that, how do they not have processes to prevent publishing of such low prices to their production environment.
If you have automation to prevent orders being processed below a certain GP% (as one person here suggested they did), then why not have that process to prevent batch pricing being pushed down to the website?

People play out like Dell is the victim here, but there must be some serious inertia to change internally at Dell if they can make this mistake many times (and be fined in Taiwan), and yet still continue to make it?

Are we now as consumers supposed to assess if a deal is reasonable every time before we make a purchase on the Dell website now?
Dell obviously doesn't deserve the abuse, and the community is a little obsessed, but Dell obviously have an issue they need to address here, not us as consumers.

  • +8

I've spent the last 2 hours (literally) on Dell phone support. It's the first time i've called (wanted to know what's going on with my order of 1 monitor).

The person I spoke with said that the internal team are still discussing what to do with the orders that came in on friday, and that they'll be getting back to people who ordered once they've made that decision. My guess is sometime today.

I also received the cancellation email like the rest of you did over the weekend. Hold the line folks. This show aint over yet.

    • +4

So why did we receive cancelation emails if they haven't even decided yet? It seems like they've already made their decision

      • +1

could be several plausible reasons - my guess is that someone on the weekend sent that email out trying to (hopefully) smooth things over with customers who were affected. But this sort of decision needs to be made by another internal team who are now up to speed on the problem and doing their thing, regardless of what comms were already sent out.

Just a theory could be completely off the mark.

    • +4

I don't think many Dell employees would be across the fact that emails have already been sent especially maybe it was over the weekend. I think the decision has been made already. Let's not get our hopes high and let us all move on.

    • +4
    • +4

5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance.

You’re at the bargaining stage right now.

  • +6

Yes, Dell could have handled this situation better. But, it doesn’t give anyone a right to abuse customer service workers in hopes of getting the price error honoured. They literally have no power in this situation and Dell’s position is now very clear. Some of you need to get over it now and stop acting like entitled children. Everyone here knew it wasn’t going to be honoured. I honestly thought that most people here were just having a laugh at the situation, but apparently that wasn’t everyone.

    • +4

It's a little sad to see how serious some people in the ozbargain community are taking this matter.

Abusing Dell staff, writing up poor reviews, really ??

Pricing errors do happen, sometimes you may be lucky, most times especially when there is $1k + difference you'll probably have your order cancelled.

Fortunately for Dell they are not a small company, if they was a small company receiving all the bad reviews from certain members in the community that would be a huge setback and could potentially cause the company to go out of business.

  • +5

Muzeeb reading all your comments like 👁️💧👄💧👁️

    • +6

So looks like mujeeb is not getting abused. Wonder if there is a truth to the statements that people are abusing the CSA's. Majority of ozbargainers won't do this. Leaving negative reviews for the company doesn't equate to abusing staff.

  • +1

Kind of sad how some people's reactions and responses feel so entitled.

For the record, I did order like two of them, I know 1000% it wouldn't be honoured, but just the off chance and also what they might end up providing as a good gesture, i.e. discount code.

But hey if I get absolutely none of that, move on. Why would anyone be so upset or butt hurt by how bad their internal systems are, how they can't manage prices, etc etc. They didn't even take any money from you yet until it's delivered.

    • +1

I'm not upset but I am interested in some level of response from Dell.

      Partly for the lols.
Partly because I can't think of an example of a worse example of miss handling of customer experience from an enterprise this large.

While I agree no one should ever be abusive to staff, any of that is on Dell's end I think.
A customer experience rep should have been assigned and their should have been a clear option for communication to them.

A mailbox with "issues@dell" and a quick Automated phone message update could have seriously mitigated what I'm sure has been a disaster for customer service today.

The fact that there's seemingly no process for incident management at Dell is something that is fascinating to no end.

  • +1

For people who paid via PayPal pay in 4 (like myself), I've already had 1/4 of the price paid for. I got the cancellation, but how does PayPal deal with it? Do I need to contact them and tell them it's cancelled and get the money refunded?

    • -2

Try to argue it, since you have made a payment(even it is partial). That means Dell agree with your sale contract. Try to discuss with ACCC with your case.

      • +2

ACCC don't investigate individual claims and sellers are allowed to cancel orders for price errors.

    • +1

      This is actually interesting.

I'd assume once Dell actually cancels the order on their side paypal will issue a refund.

If you're worried right now I'd contact Paypal support and tell them where you're at the order has been cancelled in email but is still live and ask them how it will be handled.

I wouldn't bother with Dell I've had no luck getting them to confirm if or when they're cancel my pending charges.

    • Pay in 4 T&Cs mention that the first payment is considered to be a non-refundable deposit. But, fear not, you can still pick up this amazing monitor for RRP less your deposit

    • +2

Dell reports to PayPal that the order has been cancelled/refunded. PayPal returns you back whatever you have paid so far. Simple standard process, source: dealt with similar situation in the past.

  • It is absolutely normal to feel upset for those who bought but not to be honoured. Why those people keep laughing/educating those people. When you see something has big discount and you buy it. You will expect you have completed a purchase and wait for the delivery. Then the seller said it is price error. you will definitely feel upset. How hard to be understand? That's why some company will honour the sale even they don't have to.

Price error. Literally, it is an error. That is why people have negative feeling.

    • +5

Let's not be naive and think we never thought this would not be honored. It was a part of discussion from the beginning that this could not be honored. The negative emotions are not justified really.

    • I think it’s being honoured — I mean, we’re all still talking about it…

    • Haters gonna hate

    • +4

You can feel upset. I don’t think it’s very justified in these circumstances, but feelings aren’t very rational. The problem lies when you pester customer service workers because of these irrational emotions. I mean look at a past comment you made that I responded to. This is what you said:

“We can pay it by EFT manually, the payment detail is in the first email you received. And talke to the support that we have paid. Give them extra work to refund. Hope this can force them to honour.”

Your suggestion was to annoy the Dell’s customer service workers to try to force them to honour the price error. Can you not see how toxic this is? These people are just doing their job and likely have no power in this situation. Not to mention that this was a dumb suggestion because you never know how long the refund will take to be processed.

Lots of people on Ozbargain seem to be abusing Dell’s customer service team and it is incredibly disappointing how entitled these people are.

      • That's my previous comment, nothing related to this one.

  • +17

So I forwarded the cancellation to my account manager at Dell as a business customer quering if they could assist to do at least a decent price (because I kind of want it now).
He apoligised and emailed me a quote for $2614.70 delivered for the monitor, with a link to pay via CC.
RRP is $2500, and it's $1800 on Amazon.

What a journey, and they wonder why I don't use their accounts team and just buy from the website direct.

    • quite interesting :D

    • +2

Hehe .. decent price. They need a dictionary.

    • +6

This is the first believable "I talked to my Dell contact/account manager" story in this thread.

My experience with Dell's account managers is that they have 0 interest in any hardware outside the rack room unless the volume is crazy high like the 10k devices range.

      • +1

Their small business team is entirely unnecessary.
They complain when you order online without them, yet when you try order through them the prices are either higher than online or the same.

        • +1

For small business it's usually better to establish an account with Dicker or Ingram where you can often get Dell for a lot less than their small business team.

      • So I reckon there’s about 10K thirsty OZbargainers who would want a deal on this monitor. We should all get together and see what deal they can do for us.

        Say, I don’t know, $250 a pop? 😆

    • +1

He apoligised and emailed me a quote for $2614.70 delivered for the monitor, with a link to pay via CC.

Mine was offering around $1600 which still isn't the best price. Seems you're not spending enough dollars :P Then again I work for a national company spending big bucks on enterprise gear.

      • Well the team could have had XPS's, but all of them prefer MacBooks pros.
Probably blame intel at this point.

    Reply from customer service:

    Dear X,

Thank you for contacting Dell Customer Care.

We are very sorry, there was a pricing error on the Dell Alienware 38 Gaming Monitor - AW3821DW.

We have fixed it, so it is now available for sale at [at that price/as advertised].

    Thank you for choosing Dell.

    • What exactly do they mean "it is now available for sale at [at that price/as advertised]."

I can't see it for sale on Dell.com at all - under either the personal or business site.

    • +1

Lol no it isn't, it's still taken down from their site

  • +8

I think after the discussions for nearly 3 days internal team came to the following conclusion regarding ozbargainers: eff off

  • My Dell relationship manager said that if somebody wants to email a complaint they should direct it to:

    ANZ_Care_Corporate <[email protected]>

    • +1

      They are useless.

      Thanks for your response!
This order will not be honored due to pricing error on the monitor.
Incase if the amount is deducted payment will be refunded within 7-9 Business Days to the original mode of payment.
Request you to place a new order Online.
We are very sorry, there was a pricing error on the monitor.
We have fixed it, so it is now available for sale at [at that price/as advertised].

  • So what is everyone doing in this situation? Are we contacting support or leaving the order as is? My payment is still pending

    • +5

tomorrow at exactly 10am we all march to DELL store/warehouse depending which city you are, to sit and demanding talk with the managers

      • +8

        where is everyone?

        • +2

          How did it go?

      • Is this an anti vaxxers protest deja vu

        • we march to support price error and anti muzeeb

  • -11

This is simply unacceptable behaviour from Dell there needs to be some sort of compensation

    • +10

Maybe a Chupa chup to each person impacted.

    • +12

      compensation for what?
For damages? this didn't cost you anything, i don't even think they took money
For wasting your time? How much time did it take you to place the order? do you really expect them to compensate you for that entire minute of your life?

      The Karens are real here.

Cmon people, it was fun whilst it lasted, but Dell's actions after the price error are all completely legal and expected. for more info on if it's legal to NOT honor a price error, see my previous comment

      • +6

        The Karens are real here.

Negs on your comment have proven this to be true.

        • +12

Their the sort of people that lowball people on FB marketplace, then when the seller declines the offer they say "Thanks you just ruined my child's birthday, now they are crying"

        • You have very outstanding on the understanding.

          • +1

@paddywide: Let me know how your case with the ACCC goes.

@paddywide: That's the spirit. It wouldn't go anywhere.

      • -4

I pre-sold a monitor on Gumtree and need to ship it…

        • +1

Contact Dell and ask them to change the address to the one of gumtree buyer. You won't need to stress about getting it delivered.

  • Dell site still didn't show cancelled.

  • +8

I received an SMS staying that my order has shipped through Star Track. I also have a packing slip.

    Dell wrote to me stating:

We were unable to cancel this order.

However I have Stop Shipped this order and informed logistics not to deliver this order.

Incase if carriers happens to deliver this order please reject the order by not accepting it.

Once I get confirmation I will proceed with the refund.

    • Was this a full price order?

    • Huge if true

    • +1

      Muzeeb power!!

    • What time did you order?

    • +1

      sure……`

    • Incase if carriers happens to deliver this order please reject the order by not accepting it.

You can reply to Dell that I will let my Rottweilers loose on the Star Track courier if he approaches my property.

    • They can keep the money, no need to refund. Will happily accept the monitor.

Just pretend you did not read their email and if the monitor arrive then accept it.

    • +3

That is interesting. I got a notification on the AusPost app an hour or two ago that something is coming to me via Startrack but I haven't ordered anything else. It just says ready for processing so far (so not in the Startrack network, just paperwork must have been generated). Haven't received any emails regarding it though and the order status on the Dell website is still just received. Might be unrelated entirely to Dell but just found the timing interesting since I have no idea what else it would be.

      • +1

This has happened to me too. Labelled as "E-Commerce". I had the same thought - very strange

        • Yeah, mine sent by "E-Commerce" too.

        • +1

e-commerce may be samsung stuff, I just had 15 items appear from delivers over the last year of samsung products

      • Also got something from "E Commerce"
Edit: date doesn't seem correct, says 14 Sept. No clue what it is.

      • Just checked my Aust post app, got something from e-commerce too!

        • So I assume you guys all did the Muzeeb

          I know Phoenix did

Muzeeb is worth his weight in gold.

          • +1

@TheCandyMan2020: I never started a chat with Dell /Muzeeb btw. I've left it as is. It's like playing roulette, except theres no real loss and the ball is still spinning after 3 days.

I haven't bought anything from Samsung as well.

      • +2

        I got this notification too.
But said delivering to westfield parramatttta shop 2119.
And I search the shop 2119 in parramatta westfiled, it is samsung shop….

      • +2

There seems to be a bug with AusPost / StarTrack backend.
I got all of these too, as well as a friend. All past dated.

        • +1

My AusPost app is still empty :(

      • Same! Startrack!
Wohoooooo god of dell is listening to me

        • Did you chat with Muzeeb? Not too sure if initiating the chat with Dell had cause my order to be cancelled

        • Did you receive the message from Dell too?

      • +2

Apparently, there was an issue with the Aus Post app where old deliveries were showing for some people.

        https://whrl.pl/RgvQWJ

Sorry, it doesn't look like it's your monitor :(

    • Lol

    • Incase if carriers happens to deliver this order please reject the order by not accepting it.

If you paid $249 why would you do that?

  • +2

You can only hope all orders are sent to logistics automatically the other day and they don’t give a f bout the pricing since their work is just to pack n send. Dell staffs must be smoking some heavy stuff to think that customer will reject the item if it is sent out … hahahaa
“Pls reject our $3k monitor and we will refund u $300..”

    • +2

At the same time, if you were a courier and knew of the option that you didn't have to deliver a lot of these bulky monitors then you probably choose not to. It is not hard to reroute or issue new directives based on tracking numbers.

The odds are stacked against buyers if the directives of stop shipping are true. Good luck to those who got the notification, you got to hope the courier messes up.

  • +2

Oof yep it's definitely over. My order number is now invalid. GG everyone :)

    • Nevermind. For like 30mins my Dell order number was invalid on the website and now it's back in the "received" status.

      • Yeah they sent cancellation emails yesterday morning, more than 24 hours our order is still there on website? Weird. Should be easy press delete

  • Looks like those who got it confirmed and startracked by Muzeeb will receive it :/

    • +1

      We're the unlucky ones :/

      • +2

IDK, there seems to be a lot of red herrings in this thread. I don't know what is real vs what isn't…

      • I've tried the complaints department. They won't honour it. However if you were lucky enough to get it manually confirmed you'll get it, just ignore their advice to not accept the delivery. Sucks to be us lol.

        • +1

          Complaints department?

You did well to find them.

  • Well played to those who are getting Startrak deliveries via Muzeeb.

    Good joss.

    • Now another plot.. muzeeb got sacked but then get a job as startrack ceo!

    • Who’s Muzeeb?

  • Ok to thicken the plot… this is few digits of my tracing number on aus post app:

    MQVxxxxxxxxxxxP00001

    • +3

      that cant be Dell haha

Dell always use Startrack that starts with SCSZ

      • Hmm but i dont anything else pending delivery.
The boozebud is at post office ready to collect

      • +1

        Not when Muzeeb is involved.

      • -1

Mine starts with MQV too, and says "Service: StarTrack" in the Aust post app.

    • Also got MQV…

Got 4 from e-commerce - 8 Nov, 9 Nov, 19 Nov and 9 May…..don't think it is Dell related based on some very old or future dates.

  • It looks like MQV is the tracking code assigned to parcels originating from the Gay Porn Home Shopping Network

    • Thats Cheaps imagination, Heaps….

    • +2

God I thought my order would never be dispatched! Finally.

      • +1

Cheaps had to do quality control and test them all before dispatching.

  • +2

Should be a Dell ebay promo tomorrow if anyone is still interested….

    • +2

      For $1300? :P

    • Any decent laptops?

    • +1

Can you explain more? Is it anything to do with this deal?

    • +1
    • +2

      Don't………..don't give me hope

      • +1

It won't be the $250 deal for sure, it MIGHT be an extra $100 off, so maybe $1650

        • +3

Yeah they could list it for $1k and the gang will scoff at it lmao. I don't think the people buying it at $250 are the same crowd as those who would actually buy it on a decent fair sale

    • They might call this 'We R Sorry' deal tomorrow.

      • +2

        Coupon code : OZBFOFF

    • Not a good time to have another Dell eBay promo, sales will down down down.

  • +4

The E-commerce auspost notifications are unrelated, to old samsung deliveries in the system. Happened to people totally unrelated to this Dell saga

    • Can confirm the same. Got a Auspost notification yesterday and traced it back to an old Samsung Order from November last year.

  • +2

Knew this was a waste of time. Still don’t understand why people bother trying. You do know companies will just not process your order they have every right to do so

    • +7

You miss 100% of shots you don't take.

      • +1

u also miss 100% if there was no basket to begin with.

        • u also miss 100% if shaq defending

      • +1

Big Companies that honour pricing error they don't exist any more. They won't make a loss so to speak. Don't waste your time

        • There’s been a few orders that got through.
          Not mine sadly

      • +1

        -Wayne Gretzky
        —Michael Scott

    • Yeah huge waste of time for those people taking delivery of their monitors today!

  • Most civil ozbargain discussion right now

    • -5

At least they were prepared to buy and pay those toilet paper at full price. Not at 90% discount and bitch about it like a few here.

      • +3

Who wouldn't like to buy a product at 90% discount?

      • +2

So treating each other and staff like pieces of crap is OK because they paid full price… Pushing 90+ year old women into racking is not ok because you 'were prepared to buy and pay those toilet paper at full price'.

  • +2

$1724 on their eBay now with the 20% off, no thanks

    • +1

What are they doing selling the monitors on eBay?!?Those are rightfully ours!!!!

  • +11

I knew this wasn't going to be honoured, the funds never left my credit card, and yet I can't help but feel disappointed in Dell. If they gave a discount code, even a small one, it would show they are trying to make amends. Instead they just gave us the bird.

    • That’s just how it is don’t feel too entitled for anything when you found their mistakes they won’t reward you anything

  • +6

My order's out for delivery today, fingers crossed lads its gonna be an empty box.

    • lmao imagine if there just troll shipments from Muzeeb

    • Looks like atleast one of us here will get one!

    • +1

Can I ask whether you contact Dell to proceed your order? Have you got shipping email? Sorry for lots of questions.

    • Are you sure not the bugs from Auspost app?

  • +6

Pleased to report that my two 27" 4K monitors just got delivered.

    • Can I ask whether you contact Dell to proceed your order? What time did you order? Sorry for lots of questions.

      • +1

I went onto chat with Muzeeb (as mentioned by others). Ordered at 8:13 am and 8:32 am.

        • Thanks! So you placed two seperate orders and got Muzeeb to reissue them?

  • +16

ThanksOP for the tip off, been on this site site since 2016, first time took a chance

Got delivered the AW3821DW this morning

    • +6

I actually laughed at the fact that this is your only post, a 6 year old accounts first post … solid commitment to trolling right there.

      • +3

Coming from an account that was created solely to troll this deal post?

        • Hey man the 6 year old account is way more impressive.

          I'm showing my respect here.

    • +1

      Pic?

    • +1

Ditto, got two cancellation emails on Sat and Monday.
That wait for the Startrack delivery hit hard.
My Startrack search is showing delivered, but the dell one still just says 'shipped'. Is yours the same?

Ps this screen is giving me vertigo

      • Scrap that, just ticked over to delivered! Surely we're safe now….

  • +1

Well played to those who got their monitors via Muzeeb.

Sadly my own order was cancelled, it did briefly go to confirmed but then it was cancelled. I was foolish not to speak to Muzeeb.

I am glad some people benefitted from this deal.

    • my order still shows as received

      • +2

Yeah I got the cancellation email but both orders still say “Received”. Has anyone’s changed to “Cancelled” yet?

      • +1

Same here, I think its the same for everyone

        • +1

Same still no cancel in the order status, can we still talk with Muzeeb ;-)

          • +6

@superforever: I tried calling Dell support but they keep passing me to the sales team, which then they hung up. Called 3 times, hung up 3 times during the transfer to sales team.

            Totally unprofessional tbh

            • @BargainsGrabber: Have you tried live chat? Or is it still unavailable

              • @FDA2021:

Have you tried live chat? Or is it still unavailable

No live chat with order status.

              • +1

                @FDA2021:

I am so sorry xxxx , we do not have access to reissue the IRN number . I would kindly request you to contact customer care team

That is an already purchased item xxxx , we cannot reissue it . We can only help you with a new purchase .
Price has been updated now and I can only help you with the purchase with new price

                -.-

            • @BargainsGrabber: I got bounced around by a few different people.
Last call was with someone who i could not undersyand at all, but seemed to have all the information.

Sadly he bounced me to the generic 1300 number so im giving up haha.

Will try yolo email them now.

  • My order is still showing as received, never got a cancellation email, I haven't and I probably wont contacted support either, just playing the long game lol.

    • I’m in the same boat, I might try give them a call tomorrow to change address

      • Actually changing address or shipping elsewhere in the hopes the order will be processed?

  • +2

For those that have their orders still as received and never being cancelled. Dell has a script that stops orders from going to confirmed if they are under a set price, to stop price errors occurring and charging people only to refund the money. The only way to bypass this is to have a sales person enter the order as it bypasses the script, but this method is gone now as none of the sales people will assist you with it.

    • +5

Specifically the sales people CANT assist you with it because the product doesn't exist on the store.

This is why the product was removed from the dell store front.

The rumor is that Dell don't have a process that can effectively deal with the scale of the mistake so as a stop gap to prevent any orders being confirmed and processed they've revoked the item from the store page and it will stay that way until they've remediated the issue.

The growing problem they're facing is that people have money that HAS been charged or has been placed on "pending" as in allocated from debt accounts and inaccessible but not actually sent to Dell and their customer base haven't been told when they should expect this money to clear.

Leading to a ton of support calls and chats that end in

"Yes the product had pricing error which resulted in cancellation. It cannot be charged again as the product itself is not available anymore. So, We do not have access to the order. I request you to drop an email to customer care team. You can call them on AU 1300 655 533 NZ 800 941 128 Monday–Friday: 10 a.m.–7 p.m. email [email protected]"

      • +1

Every time I chat to someone on Dell, they’re saying the same message as above. I called the number that they gave and customer care team are reading a script saying basically no, you’ve to place a new order blah blah. If you say yes to transfer to sales team, they’ll just hang up your call.

Until Dell sort this mess up and improve their handling of this poorly managed situation, I won’t be giving Dell my support and sales

        • I too won't be giving Dell my money if they refuse to process a 90%-off price error on one of their most expensive consumer grade monitors. They're being simply unreasonable

          • @fleetfeather: I know right?!?

I plan to stamp my feet really really hard and cry into my pillow like….like… ALOT.

I might even go to Officeworks and knock over some Dell display monitors to really bring my point home…

  • +1

    Startrack slow today… cmon!

    • +1

Same here. 'Out for delivery' all day but nothing yet

    • +12

Opened the box up and its a curved 38" picture of Muzeeb

  • anyone have a link that they used for dell live chat

  • +2

everyone that get the monitor, please setup gofunding website to help muzeeb… im sure you can spare $1-3 each

  • -1

Can confirm that live chat/call don’t work anymore.

Everyone who has missed it should just move on.

And congrats to those who have received it - can you guys stop posting it and giving everyone false hope.

  • Called the customer care. Cant believe the operator was driving during the call. How is this possible?

  • +8

For everyone who thought moving it manually to Confirmed/In Production on the chat with Muzeeb wouldn't work, I'm sorry to say:
    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/304328/98291/image.jpg

Happy days, bad luck to everyone who missed out. Can safely say i've achieved the hall of fame deal

    • +2

show us your triple 38" curve setup accessing ozbargain website~ :)

    • Is that sitting on a Jetstar mat?

    • would you be kind enough to share how did your Startrack / Auspost tracking ID look like?

      • Startrack tracking ID should have SCSZ prefix

  • +7

I think it is my turn to post this and also officially thank the OP @icyidentity for the post and @Equator Tree as the first to share the order re-issue trick…

    I received mine this morning:
    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/41247/98280/20220920_1…

Hopefully by the end of today or tomorrow everyone that managed to get the order re-issued should receive their orders.

    FYI, I didn't talk to Muzeeb 😃

    • so you do chat and say please reissue? thats it ?

      • +1

exactly as what I have shared on the forum (refer to my earlier comments)…

After receiving the email cancellation, i didn't call or chat to Dell again… just simply accepted my fate then yesterday I received an SMS with tracking info…

        • oh this one by user Thunder something:

            Chat Transcript: ( 7m 50s ) Dell Advisor - ***: Hi Thunder-Wombat

Just tried Creceda, can't help "I'm unable to access the order which is on pricing error. "

        • After receiving the email cancellation, i didn't call or chat to Dell again… just simply accepted my fate then yesterday I received an SMS with tracking info…

So you didn't chat with Muzeeb still received it? Don't give us hope :(

    • Did you pay using PayPal or directly via CC?

  • +2

we need the mods to put up a poll for who got it/didnt get it etc

    • +1

im just sad that we lost the deal votes as it is now converted to a forum post…

    • +1

we need the mods to put up a poll for who got it/didnt get it etc

Also chat with Muzeed or didn't chat at all

  • +4

I'm so jealous I didn't get the chance to reissue my order in time. What's the chances I can get it reissued now?

    • +7

      0

  • +1

Wonder what will happen if we wait for the monitor to come back on the website and then try the chat/address change

    • Orders are now cancelled in their system.

      • +1

Mine is still as recieved + I never got the email on the weekend. Is my order just lost in the void forever then?

        • +1

I think they would just say it’s been cancelled, I never got the email and rang them but showing up cancelled for them. Still showing received for me.

        • +1

Mine is received as well. When I chatted with sales yesterday they told me order has been cancelled. You can try asking for an update.

          • +1

@RSmith: I might just wait and see when it goes back up on their shop if I can get lucky. Nothing to lose, I’m in the endgame here

        • +1

I also got the cancelation email but shows up as received on the Dell website. I have no idea what Dell is doing to fix this tbh

  • +18

This might just be me, but this doesn't seem fair if they shipped people's orders because they asked to just change the payment method or address. It should be first come first serve, honor all of them or cancel all of them.

    • +13

      hahah "fair"

    • +5

its nothing more than poorly setup backends

      • -20

No those who did the work and went on chat got rewarded. So it was perfectly fair.

        • +3

Not everyone that went to chat got there’s, so doing the “work” doesn’t always mean you’ll get “rewarded”

  • +6

    what a joke

  • +5

I was number 5 in the queue that night after waiting 2 hours to get my address updated but then my phone screen locked and it kicked me out of the queue. ffs

  • +2

    Those who got it enjoy!

Ngl little jealous haha. I was still asleep :/

    • I wonder how many who got theirs actually enjoy it or just quickly flip it off for a big profit instead!

  • -8

This one would sting for those whos are still sitting in Received. I feel for you.
Currently typing on my new ultrawide baby

    • +1

I'm guessing address change method no longer works over phone?

      • +3

        its over.

        • +3

Yes. Even calling and letting them know that others have received their orders only results in them fishing for those IRN's/order numbers presumably to try and recover them from yous lol

          • +2

@evasive: How bad must their system be if they can't even track them down

    • -1

Wow, happy for you mate. Those hypocrites must be crying like a baby right now. Enjoy~

  • gooone

  • Spoke to chat and they confirmed it’s a price error. The correct price is $1749 and all orders will be cancelled. My order was stuck in “received” when I spoke to them. Congrats all who received theirs!

    • +5

Price error? I wouldn't have known

    • +3

The correct price was $249.01 for all those who changed address.

  • Anyone want an LG ultragear 27 1440p? xD

    • +4

sure i'll take it at a price error rate

  • +3

Spoke with live chat about the pending payments, they said it will take 5-7 business days for the order to be removed

  • +1

Waiting for those who got the monitor to get their $249 refunded anyway lol, wouldn't be surprised considering Dell's backend…

    • -1

Haha will let you know. That would defintely make it a hall of fame deal

    • +8

But no one who got their monitor has posted a pic with proof like their username next to box or todays newspaper

      • +20

Iam Not trying to flame or insinuate .. just sharing

        https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/203080/98297/a299db07-…

        • +1

          Jelly, but nonetheless, congrats. :-)

        • +7

Made this account during 2016, and waited 6 years to solely hunt this JUICY bargain.

If only the date of this post was 15/09/2022
          technically 15th in the US

          Username huntbargain1509 checks out

Anyways happy for you and enjoy. Please let me know of the 2028 price errors

        • +4

Dayum. Now you just need a price error for a new phone screen.

        • +1

Now you need to find a bargain for a new iPhone.

  • -2

    Anyone put on ebay yet?

    • +1

Shipping would be a killa. Box is absolutely massive

  • +8

Thank goodness the deal got cancelled. I saved $250 this month. Yup the grapes are now sour!😂

  • +1

Seems like the party is over. Can't wait to see how many negs will be on the next dell deal, and congrats to those who got it

    • +4

Can't wait to see how many negs will be on the next dell deal,

Already have, first time dealbot didn't post it.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/e/coupon-offers/20-off-dell-storewid…

      • +1

It brings it down to their rotating sale price, nowhere near eofy pricing

      • +2

Dealbot probs just want the toxicity to die down before he posts. Probs the next rotation.
We all know what the comments will be like once a Dell post gets made.

        Posted on BAM though

  • +2

    Damn some got delivered noice.

  • This thread is now locked - Go enjoy your lives

  • Congrats to all of you who received it. Cheers.

  • +1

Something is slowly in transit reaching the other end of the country for me. 50/50 it's the monitor. Hopefully I was blessed by muzeeb.

    • +1

      Nice user dp Clear haha.

Also did you receive any shipping notification or talk to Muzeeb prior?

      • Both. Shipping to Tassie is slow af so I'll see next week if I hit the jackpot.

The thing is I already use a Dell ultrawide at work so I figure I'll just stack it above if I do. So much Ozbargain on one screen.

  • Mines just stuck on order received and can't click anything. No mention of cancellation

  • +36

Am I wrong to feel annoyed by this outcome? While under no circumstances did I expect to purchase for this price. To find out that they honoured those who got onto the chats and not those who patiently waited? It shouldnt be a lottery system. Sales and purchasing goods are done through good business, not through a casino

    • +19

Yeah, kicking myself because I felt it wasn’t right to try spam the support chat. Turns out those who did get rewarded. Doesn’t feel great to miss out

      • yeah me too i was on the chat queue at like 10pm? but then too tired and get bored

    • Maybe we should get Dell to charge the price difference for those that received their monitors to make it fair.

      • That will go down well!

    • +13

I'm happy for those that got it, but I've learnt my lesson, next time I won't hesitate to hassle them to try and get pushed through.
There was also the chance that getting reissued would make them tall poppies and make their orders easier to cancel.

      • +1

The reissued orders idea sounded like pie in the sky, obvious professionals at work haha

    • +2

      Squeaky wheel gets the grease

  • +3

Still have the payment pending in PayPal, lol

    • +2

Same, don't think anyone got properly "canceled"

      • +1

They are happy to reissue it for $1749.

        • Once they sort out how many they have left… it's a mess from what I can tell
Item page has been taken down on both website and eBay store

  • +2

saw a few on facebook market already

    • +2

      1001% they are ozb haha

  • +13

Everyone on here echoing the sentiment of "don't harass the chats for your monitor" and "dont let them know about it". And turns out that was the one way to get a monitor

Maybe being a Karen is the way to get things done in life

    • +1

I don't think the Muzeeb trick was being a karen, it wasn't complaining or begging for it to be honoured - it was just a trick to progress the order to the next stage taking advantage of the sales reps lack of knowledge about the situation

      • +1

agree i think when we order actually system stops them (maybe below cost price?) but then when internal staffs change the address or do something and reprocess, system allows it because it thinks well someone has look at this so this order must be legit, lets send it out

        hoooray

      • -1

Yep I don't understand why people whinging.
Those who didn't live chat would not have had their orders delivered anyway. It's not like those who went on live chat "stole" or jumped the queue and prevented those who didn't live chat from getting the monitors.

    • -7

A lot of users here took to the sentiment that this was like a zoo for them for entertainment, and 0 people would get this monitor.
Nice to see them proven wrong, that kind of arrogance and ridicule is a disgusting part of this group.

      It's not called OzSlightlyBelowRRP

      • +4

The ones who took entertainment in anticipated canceled orders were a few individuals that probably didn’t order. The group that didn’t want to hassle the chat weren’t the toxic ones

  • +3

Thanks @icyidentity for the awesome post and @Equator Tree for the confirmation solution, worked at treat had my orders finally arrived today. You both deserve a commendation for you work to secure us the deal of the decade.

Also for those wondering I didn't deal with Muzeeb either

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/157993/98309/307222456…

    • +19

I need to stop looking at this thread, lol

      • +17

I need to call the suicide hotline every time I do

    • +1

      Cleaned up. Selling one?

      • +1

Have always wanted one of those cockpit command centre setups, so hoping I can fit all three on my desk

    • -8

This is why we should contact Dell and complain to get them to charge the difference for those that received the monitors otherwise it’d just be unfair. Anyways I have made my complaint.

      • -4

Let’s all do our bit and complain to Dell then people like this will hopefully get hit by the undercharged. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/1301491810?utm_campaign=socia…

        • +2

Why? How does this affect you? Just being jealous?

        • +1

AFAIK they can’t charge the customer more once the transaction is complete
Not that I’d wish something like that on anyone
I missed out, it sucks. But nothing can be done about it now and hoping bad on those lucky enough to score one isn’t going to help anyone
          Best to just move on

          • @FireRunner: exactly. especially those who got it didn't impede those that didn't get it.

        • Let them be happy. And let us be happy seeing them happy.

        • +8

Scalpers, the worst kind of people.

          • -1

@thedean: there not really scalping tho? they selling below what you can buy from dell

            • +3

@Jaduqimon: Scalping reffers specficially to the selling of something for a profit because it was puchased at a price or quantity unobtainable by others anymore.

              • @thedean: Ok. I typically think scalping is buying up available stock and selling for higher price than RRP.

      • +1

There you go. 38" of toxicity.

    • -1

      My god

    • WTf how did you get 3

.3 seperate orders or just one

  • +1

The product was on pricing error. Our customer care team has access to it now. I would suggest you to contact our customer care department, they would be able to assist you better in this regards. You can call them on AU 1300 655 533 NZ 800 941 128 Monday–Friday: 10 a.m.–7 p.m. email [email protected]

    • I wonder if anyone has contacted customer care and got it reissued. I highly doubt it though, cause I'm sure all of Dell is aware of the pricing error by now

      • +1

I’m gonna need Muzeeb’s personal number

        • +3

I actually got Muzeeb on the live chat recently, he's just following the same script the rest of the agents are saying

          • +5

@FDA2021: Surprised that he still has a job.

      • +3

Order has been auto-cancelled. They are not willing to do anything about it.

    • Customer care told me they don't have access and to contact Sales.
Best Dell would do for me was the price on the website, but not that one

      • We missed the deal of the decade.

  • +8

Wonder if the OP managed to get one…

  • +4

as of now ozb has 2419 user and 6898 guests - not one work for Dell? come on we want a closure, tell us the real story, son!

    • +8

Not sure what are hoping to hear. From following the comments: There was a price error. The orders weren’t confirmed due to a failsafe in the system. Talking to staff could manually push the order through. The official Dell stance was that all orders were to be canceled. No more orders will be approved beyond this point. The Dell bureaucracy was too slow to catch the orders that were pushed through. They can’t do anything about completed orders.

  • +17

Congrats to everyone who managed to score one (or more). May you have many years of enjoyment out of this great bargain!

  • +2

I blame mujeeb for this fiasco. 😜

    • lawl

  • +16

Tbh this ruined it for me. I don’t think I will ever be able to justify buying this monitor knowing I didn’t get it for $250 ;(

    • This! It must be some stupid tribal thing deep in our psyche :D :D

  • I have got an odd tracking number in aupost app. It shows "shipping information received 14 Dec", sender is E-COMMERCE. Estimated delivery is 15 Dec.

I hope Dell has shipped the monitor through a time machine.

    • +1

It's a glitched Samsung tracking number unfortunately

      • +1

I haven't purchased anything from Samsung recently. Does Samsung use startrack as well?

  • +4

congrats to those who got one!

unfortunately I ordered mine on company account (accidentally). as a Dell partner of course I have access to premium support, and could have pushed the order through, but I didn't want to affect my company relationship with Dell :)

life is too short! some things are just not worth it :)

    • +2

Guys we got ourselves a new muzeeb right here for the next price error

  • +2

I know this is dead now but I just received an email from Dell regarding a support request I sent in. It addressed none of my questions however one part of the dodgy email I found amusing

"Our internal escalations as well as ACCC/Fair Trading/Other legal authorities has been notified of this and the only resolution at the moment is to have the IRN canceled"

Dell basically trying to dissuade customers from reporting them to ACCC etc. Like "hey we have self reported to our regulatory watchdog so you dont have to lol"

Yeah Dell it's not your responsibility to try prevent people making complaints should they choose to do so.

    • +4

ACCC don't act on complaints from individuals either

      • for most states it is dept of fair trading and the likes. but those jokers are pretty useless.

  • -2

Ultrawide arrived. Another to the collection. Now I'll have to see how it compares to my current Dell.

    • -1

Wow.. didnt expect you to join this kind of price error deals. So you did the chat like others?

      • -7

I join in on price error deals and at the same time don't be an entitled brat demanding compensation for price errors. I talked to muzeeb.

        • -5

Wow 10 salty neggers. Enjoy missing out on the monitor haha

          • +2

            @Clear: What's with the gloating? Just chill…

            • -6

@RSmith: Well let's see. If people want more or they're jealous they'll neg this comment. If they don't they won't.

  • Realistically, what are these normally reduced to? I ordered one but cancelled it about a year ago.. from memory was around the 1500$ mark…

    • +2

      $1750 I think.

      • thank you! Definitely a better price than the outrageous RRP.

$250 is clearly the deal of the century but $2500 is ludicrous.

  • +1

Is anyone still waiting for this to be properly canceled? My order is still pending on PayPal and still says received on the Dell site

    • Yes, still saying as received on Dell, no cancellation email, but payment is not pending (on Amex, not on PayPal).

    • Sill pending in PayPal, but the pending charge is gone from my CC.
I think they're going to just leave it in that state. I don't know if the pending charge in PayPal affects anything, if you want it gone you could try their support, I'm just going to leave it as is.

  • Any deals on a 27-30 inch gaming monitor in the <$500 price range?

  • +3

    How's everyone holding up?

    • +9

I thought I will never get over this trauma, but Optus has made me forget all about it. So credit where credit is due… Thanks Optus.

    • +2

Still salty I didn't get the deal :) what annoys me most is that Dell actually honoured orders and left most of us without :(

      • +1

I thought it’s because some ozbargainers got their orders pushed through again manually, otherwise they would have been cancelled?

        • Yeah that's my point. Why did they honour orders that were manually pushed through but not the other ones?

          • @Adrenal1ne: Apparently they tried their best to cancel the orders. 🤣

          • @Adrenal1ne:

Why did they honour orders that were manually pushed through but not the other ones?

They are too big, it is not that easy to find them in the system to cancel.

            • @superforever: What? They can’t just do it with automated system, like finding orders paid at that price and cancel instantly?

  • +4

Seeing though people got the deal, this should be moved back to a ‘deal’ so OP can the get the credit/internet points he is due.

    • Op wants internet points

    • +1

Surely they would've got a clean sweep in the monthly deal stats - most clicks, most votes, most comments

      • +1

yep. a lot of people said it was 'deal of the decade' yet no kudos and moved to forum post.

        • How much did the Op earn for the click throughs

  • Does anyone know why the AW3821DW hasn't been put up on the Dell website again? Can't even get it on Ebay or Amazon either.

  • Merged from Who is Muzeeb and did anyone got the dell monitor in the end?

The comments are to much of 27 pages, anyone call story short ?

      • Muzeeb turned out to be a false prophet
      • Those who paid full price got a monitor
      • +1

Some people got the monitor delivered.

    • +1

      Muzeeb aka MS Paint

    • +1

      @Muzeeb

      • +1

        I didn't get a notification. Hmmm

    • +5

everyone got the order cancelled (or something), but some contacted support saying they needed their address changed (or something) which re-activated the order, they ended up getting their monitors.

dell caught on, but not before some people managed to get it.

muzeeb was one of the support staff that helped people fix the "problem with their order"

    • Broden is the true one

      All hail the broden

    • Muzeeb the newly appointed CEO of Dell.

  • It still shows this order on Dell and PayPal. I don't know if it's worth waiting for something to change or not

    • Nothing gonna happen now lol.

    • +2

Wait till they forget about it, then play dumb

    • +3

spoke to live chat to get them to fulfil it and they said the order had been cancelled, despite still showing in the account. game over

  • +2
    • Dell really don't know how to price this thing huh, lmao

  • After it came back up for sale online I enquired with chat about my order that was still pending and as soon as I gave them the IRN, they had a prepared response about the price error and how it had been cancelled. Was really hoping to slide by but it seems while the monitor was off the listings, they had been implementing some kind of warning system for related orders.

    • +1

I chat with sales yesterday, asked why after a month still not shipped, she/he promise to follow up for me 😆

      • +3

she/he promise to follow up for me

That is code word for "expect to never hear from me again". 😝

        • -1

Hope Muzeeb will follow up for me 🤣

    • +1

Still the case, I've just had an online chat with a consultant and the answer was the same "Price error, so sorry, let me negotiate the best price on a current order…"

  • +2

Just received a call from Dell about this monitor this morning and she asked me whether I’d like to take the offer or best price they can have for this monitor.

Do you guys experience the same? I first thought it was a scam.

    • Was their best price $249?

      • Yes. She said she will negotiate with another department to have this price for me, $249. She will be in touch as soon as she has the offer.

It obviously sounds weird to me. I checked the number and email address, and both are legit.

        • +3

Wow, if that is legit then mosdef.

To make sure it's not a scam, make sure you don't give personal deets or cc number over the phone. They should create like a quote through their online portal so you can pay as normal.

        • +5

I find it very odd that you'd receive a call from Dell (the same company who canceled nearly all orders) to take the offer for $249. I would be weary that this isn't some scam

          • +1

@FDA2021: I thought the same until she told me all information I had about that order. I am a victim from the Medibank data leak, so I was fully aware of that it was more likely to be a scam.

I got an email from @dell.com address as well. Look legit.

            • +1

@plank89: If your confident everything is legit and not a scam, good luck to you

              • +3

@FDA2021: Bloody oath I’m not confident as it’s too good to be true. However, let's see what she has when she calls me next time.

                • +4

                  @plank89: Narrator: She never called

                • +1

@plank89: @plank89 Hi mate, out of curiosity did you ever receive a call back ?

                  • +2

@howcan: Surprisingly yes. It was a legit phone number from Dell. She seemed to be a new manager for a specific customer case. However, after discussing with other teams, she could only offer the best deal for $1,499. I declined the offer as I already have a 34” Ultrawide, which is still in perfect working order.

                    • @plank89: Damn, oh well. Nice to have final closure though lol. Thanks.

                      • +1

@howcan: No worries, mate. It's pretty odd to receive a call from Dell. Lol

        • Say you will take 10

    • What number did they call from?

    • Surely this can't be true. They plan to call everyone who ordered?

  • how many actually got the item sent?

    • I honestly think some people lied but some did get it as the pictures showed

  • +2

Ahhhhhhh…. The one that almost was.

Muzeeb was one of the fallen heroes. No one knows today what happened to him or where he is. But what he did for humanity is beyond anyone's comprehension. He was the savior, the messiah, and the lord in one person.

Mujeeb was born in a small village in the middle of nowhere. He was a bright child, and he quickly learned that there was something wrong with the world. He saw people suffering, and he knew that he had to do something to help. When Muzeeb was 16 years old, he left his village and set out on a journey to find a way to save humanity. He traveled all over the world, meeting with different people and learning about their cultures. He also studied the great religions of the world, looking for answers.

After many years, Muzeeb finally found what he was looking for. He discovered that the key to saving humanity was love. He realized that if people could learn to love each other, then they could overcome any obstacle. Mujeeb returned to his village and began to teach his message of love. He quickly gained a following, and soon people from all over the world were coming to hear him speak. Muzeeb's message was simple, but it was powerful. He told people that they were all connected, and that they should treat each other with respect and compassion.

Mujeeb's message of love was not without its critics. Some people accused him of being a heretic, and others said that he was crazy. But Muzeeb continued to preach his message, and he eventually won over the hearts and minds of the people. Mujeeb's work was not easy. He faced many challenges, but he never gave up. He knew that he was on a mission to save humanity, and he was determined to succeed.

In the end, Muzeeb was successful. He was able to unite the people of the OzB, and he showed them the power of love. He was a true hero, and his legacy will live on forever.

Mujeeb's story is a reminder that we all have the power to make a difference in the world. We may not be able to save the world on our own, but we can all do our part to make it a better place. Let us all follow Muzeeb's example and spread love and compassion to everyone we meet.

In the land of OzBargain, amidst the vibrant tapestry of the Dell Store, there existed a skilled and cunning merchant by the name of Muzeeb. With a mind as sharp as a rapier, he navigated the intricate world of commerce with finesse. Muzeeb had earned a reputation as a master of strategy, always seeking opportunities to maximize profit. Little did he know that one fateful day, his actions would unleash an unforeseen chaos, and it would be up to him to rectify the consequences.

As Muzeeb meticulously crafted the pricing labels for the new shipment of monitors, a gleam of mischief flickered in his eyes. An idea sprouted within his shrewd mind, a chance to create a whirlwind of excitement. He cleverly engineered a price error on one particular monitor, the Alienware AW3821DW 38" Curved Gaming Monitor, reducing its value to a fraction of its true worth. With a sly smile, he let it pass through the intricate web of approval and made it onto the shop floor.

Word of the unbelievable deal spread like wildfire throughout OzBargain. OzBargainers descended upon Dell's website like a swarm of bees, their eyes shimmering with anticipation. Muzeeb, observing from a distance, reveled in the spectacle. He could almost taste the immense profits that awaited him. But as the frenzy grew, so did a pang of guilt within his chest. He realized that innocent customers were being lured into a false reality, and the repercussions could be dire.

Summoning courage and a sense of responsibility, Muzeeb stepped forward, emerging from the shadows. He made his way through the crowd, brushing off bewildered looks and murmurs of confusion. Finally, he stood before the expectant customers, his voice resonating with a newfound sincerity.

"Mighty patrons," he began, his words carrying the weight of remorse, "I must confess that what you see before you is not a genuine bargain. It is an error, a trick of fate, designed to lure you into a false promise. I bear the responsibility for this deception, and I ask for your forgiveness."

The OzBargainer crowd fell silent, their expressions morphing from anticipation to disappointment. Yet, amidst their disillusionment, a newfound respect for Muzeeb began to grow. They admired his integrity, the rare quality of a merchant who would willingly admit to his own deceit. The air crackled with anticipation as OzBargainers awaited his next move.

Muzeeb's heart swelled with determination as he spoke once more, his voice infused with genuine remorse. "But fear not, dear patrons. I will rectify this error, no matter the cost. You shall have the monitor you so desire, at the true value it deserves. I will bear the financial burden that this mistake has incurred, for it is my duty to make amends."

Whispers of awe rippled through the crowd, their gazes now filled with admiration. Muzeeb meticulously calculated the amount required to reconcile the price discrepancy, his mind working swiftly to devise a solution. As he outlined his plan, a sense of unity and understanding filled the marketplace. OzBargainers offered their support, volunteering to contribute a portion of the difference. They realized that Muzeeb's error was an opportunity to demonstrate compassion and foster a bond of trust.

In the end, Muzeeb's honor and determination prevailed. The monitor was sold at its true value, the merchant was compensated for the loss, and the customers, touched by the experience, spread the tale far and wide. Muzeeb's name became synonymous with redemption and growth, a reminder that even in the depths of one's own mistakes, the power to make things right lies within.

From that day forth, Muzeeb's story echoed through the generations, a legend of a merchant who possessed not only cunning but also the wisdom to rectify his wrongs. His name became a symbol of honesty and redemption, a guiding light in the intricate realm of commerce. And as OzBargain flourished, its denizens remembered the tale of Muzeeb, forever etching his name in the annals of their shared history.
