        • -1

Asian naming system….Korean, Japanese names and Chinese names. Family name comes first.

For example Hayao Miyazaki (when addressed in english) is actually Miyazaki Hayao in Japanese.
and Jet Li's name in chinese would be Li Lianjie

        • +1

@scrimshaw: The characters are in the same order, he's just used a different one for the third one (which presumably reads "Kim" the proper way - can't read Hangul and haven't bothered to check)!

        • +3

@scrimshaw: You wrote Kim Jong Il. I was asking if you meant Kim Jong Eun since both should be current rulers to be consistent.

        • @greenpossum:

His father has definitely left behind a far more pockmarked legacy than his son, which is why I keep it hung on my bedroom wall. family altar.

        • +2

the dear leader does not approve your comments please remove them

        • @scrimshaw: Maybe the son will leave some bigger craters. (Hope not!)

  • +4

Like looking at the coins wasn't enough

  • +9

Better get them before Charles becomes King!

    • -3

Hopefully we'll become a Republic soon after that happens.

      King Chuck? 😷

      • +4

No way! I still prefer an Australian Monarchy!

        • +2

Australian Monarchy does not exist. It is British Monarchy.

        • -2

@Colombian: They will force Anthony Mundine to marry Kathy Freeman.

        • +1

          @Colombian:

Technically under the Constitution, there is an "Australian Monarchy" that's separate and distinct from the British Monarchy, although it's personified by the same human being.

          https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monarchy_of_Australia

So, even if Britain became a republic and abolished their monarchy, Australia will stiil have a Monarch if we didn't amend our Constitution.

  • +1

I'll use it to keep my car floor mats from getting soiled

    • +10

      Yeah but it's free

      • No, the Queen is not free and neither is the monarchy.

That's why this mentions the dept of finance. We've already paid…

        • It's a free country. Free means you don't pay.

        • @Meconium:

So who pays when her majesty comes out here? Or Charlie? Or Harry and Will?

          Answer - the tax payer…

    • +1

      lol nice try

  • +3

Excellent, had a (friendly) argument with my monarchist mate the other day, will order one to her address.

  • how do i claim this?

  • Decided it's worth it for the laugh, but can't figure out for the life of me how to order, halp?

    • ask your local member to order it for you.

      • +5

        so much effort

      • +3

I emailed my MP and they said they had a range of different portraits and I can get one if I drop by their office.

      • +1

Ahh, cheers for that. Can't say I can be bothered the hassle when I could just print out a photo of her and the rest and draw funny things over them. I'm an adult.

Nah, but thanks, I was afraid of that.

  • +13

My MP is Adam Bandt from the Greens he will love this request.

    • He'll gladly trade away the proposed republic for anything green.

    • Oh wow, that is just too good. You should make up some kind of over the top patriotic, rule britannia style request letter. He will have to honour it and give it to you through gritted teeth (although i suspect it would just be in an envelope for you at the desk when you arrive). Maybe if you tell him you need a few hundred portraits to burn at a protest rally he will meet you in person to hand them over.

    • +1

Wear a One Nation t-shirt while applying. Tell him it is for your Pro-Logging group meeting. Adam will probably have a stroke.

  • +1

    Any Nerf deals these days?

    • +1

No, but you could check a sporting goods store for a dart board…

Glaze your arses to the queer old dean

    • +1

Do not speak of the leader in that way, The Leader Is Great. HAIL, THE LEADER! HAIL, VICTORY!

  • Too much effort i'll pass

  • +1

    Nice try Tony Abbott!

  • +2

Actually as a first-generation Australian, I think this is kind of neat. Didn't used to live in a place that had a King or Queen.

    • +2

You probably did a few hundred years ago.

  • -4

Get this shit of my front page

  • +1

Nice. This will go well with my portrait of King Salman.

  • Can you request a POTUS Trump portrait?

    • +1

yes, there is an organisation called ANTIFA that is happy to giveaway all things Trump! Write to them telling them all the things you love about Trump and they will be sure to send you something (just make sure it isnt ticking before you open the package).

    • I just printed off all my Trump stuff and hung it all around the university. Most young people here like him.

  • IF the offer was for new entry 'Meghan Markle' - more people might have opted..

    • +2

Wait a few years and the Queen Kate ones will be OK

  • +1

    how do you order one?

    • +1

I too have the same question. What is the process for requesting this? Thanks.

      • the page just has too many words for nothing practical. I clicked on Order
        https://www.ordermax.com.au/Home.aspx

        but then what??

        • I think that OrderMax thing is for the local MPs to place orders; others will have to somehow contact the local MP office and request the portrait (I think).

        • I see the older post has more details about how to request this - basically, email the local office and attach a filled out form. It should be fairly easy to do. Cheers.

  • Is it framed?

  • +3

is it a scratch and sniff pic?

  • OMG, who needs a portrait of any monarch at home in the 21st century?

    • Not so much for people's homes but there would be community groups and charities etc that would need these. I was in the Army for 15 years and almost every main building in the Army has one of these portraits in the lobby. I was an officer and we used to have one in the officer's mess that we would 'toast' during formal dinners! i would think that RSL clubs, scouts, government departments etc would all need these portraits!

      • Yup, when I went to a citizenship ceremony in some regional town in woopwoop, QLD, there was the portrait, framed and proudly overseeing things on the stage. (It wasn't permanently there. It was brought in for the ceremony.) Sydney's a bit less parochial, and when I did my citizenship there, the Queen was nowhere to be seen.

  • This isn't a new one by Rolf Harris, is it?
