  • Can anyone check how much annual fee rebate/cashback 110k points can get?

      • That's not correct. They're after the annual fee cash rebate which converts at 20k per $100

        • Found some info in the Altitude Black card page. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12397218/redir
          30k pts = $250

So at least $500 annual fee rebate + ~10k pts remaining.

          • +1

            @ChubDog: I think you meant 30K Altitude Reward points = $150
            just comment underneath that one

So 110K should be 3 years worth of annual fee in that way ($150 x 3 is $450) +20 K points left.

            • @USER DC: Sorry I meant 50k pts = $250. You're right, 30k pts = $150.
Anyway, if someone's got access to the rebate page to confirm that'd be great.

              • @ChubDog: I got the normal points wrong too its meant to be 110K +3 K = 113K points

              • @ChubDog: Chickenleg here again, the bonus points alone should be able to get you $550 worth of rebate assuming using 2x $250 and 2x $25. The lowest rebate amount you can redeem is the $25 for 5000 points so depending on your situation, you may just want to wait until you have 115k points in total to redeem another $25.

                • @Chickenleg: As I mentioned above the cash rebate works out to be as a general guide 20k gets you $100.

                  • +1

@nightelves: I know, i'm just responding to Chubdog's request above for confirmation

Anyway, if someone's got access to the rebate page to confirm that'd be great.

                • +1

@Chickenleg: Tried checking out with 2x $250 & 2x $25, but got error, 'The highlighted item or items exceed the maximum redemption limit.' Have they fixed redeeming multiple annual fee rebate? If so, what's next best alternative to redeem the points?

                  • +1

@plal: Dang that sucks, definitely worked for me a couple months ago so perhaps they've closed it unless someone else has tried successfully recently. Perhaps you could do single lots of rebates and do the rest for cashback at $50 per 14100 points and/or pay with points?

                  • @plal:

Tried checking out with 2x $250 & 2x $25, but got error, 'The highlighted item or items exceed the maximum redemption limit.' Have they fixed redeeming multiple annual fee rebate?

I just did one today for one of the Westpac deals a couple of months back.
I added one of every $ denomination to a single order and it managed to checkout and points deducted
Waiting to see the $ show up on the cc though

Perhaps it's just a limit of 1 per $ annual fee rebate option, so your 2* of the same $ value triggered the invalid error?

                    • @SBOB: thanks, you're right! I was able to check out with 1x$250, 1x150, 1x$125, $25. Happy days.

          • @ChubDog: If you take it as gift cards, different cards give different value. We always used Myer cards for gifts at Christmas or took advantage of New Year sales. Our local Myer shut down. Now, Bunnings cards are handy. We use our cards for everything possible. Westpac takes a commission from the merchant for that, which bumps up costs for businesses (but increases robbery security) and that pushes up prices in general. Once the home loan is gone, so will the card. There has to be something better that gives you fee-free shopping.

        • Oh wow this is nice! I've updated the rwrds site to match the annual rebate

  • Does anyone know if paying for a course at TasTAFE will count towards eligible purchases? Thank you

    • Does tafe allow PayPal (connect cc to Paypal acc)?

      • No, it accepts BPay.

    • See if they allow payment via Australia post bill pay. You can use your credit card there

      • +2

†Eligible purchases do not include interest, fees and charges, cash or ATM cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, gambling transactions, a purchase from or payment to a local, state or federal government or government related agency, BPAY or similar transactions (such as Post Billpay), refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account.

Doesnt look like they will accept Postpay

        • Thanks guys

        • Saw this. It's a real shame because I usually sign up to a new card this time of the year for those council rates!

          • @_tony: You can pay your council bills easily indirectly using any CC and still earn points (It just need to be indirect payment)

            • @USER DC: Would you mind share an example of indirect payment? I've looked it up and only got an example of an indirect compensation.

Indirect compensation is a type of payment to an employee that doesn't involve directly paying a wage or salary. Examples of an indirect compensation arrangement include offering your employees health insurance, life insurance, or employee stipends

              I'm wondering if they're different?

              • +3

@akafinal: Pay your council rates using Visa/Mastercard prepaid cards or using other credit line, and pay for the Visa/Mastercard prepaid cards or using other credit line using your CC.

    • Could try BPAY via BeamIt?

It's how I get around credit card fees paying Queensland Urban Utilities and Brisbane City Council bills.

  • Is there way to check if it has been 12months since last card

    • +10

Need to get onto the spreadsheet method mate for peak churning

      • What's the spreadsheet method?!

        • +4

Keeping a record of apply date, approved date, closed date for every card on an accelerated spreadsheet

          • +2

@nakhe: By "accelerated", i meant "Excel".. damn autocorrect

      • Or just set a reminder so your phone prompts you when you should be applying again.

      Or just ask the bank.

  • Tldr
Can this be converted to qff points?

  • when do westpac credited the bonus points after meeting spending criteria?

    • It was within a day or two for me when I had this card last year

  • +1

after a week no bonus points should I chase them up?

    • +1

The bonus Altitude Points will be added to your points balance within 12 weeks once you meet the eligible spend criteria.

      • +2

I want it between a day or two like the rest of you lot.

        • +1

I'm in a similar situation at the moment. Met the spend about 1.5 months ago and am still waiting.

          • @TetrisMango: have you chased them up?

            • @[Deactivated]: Not yet. There's been one or two instances in the past where I've had this delay happen. Will probably be told to wait for the 12 weeks to be up anyway if I chase them up now.

              • @TetrisMango: after 12 weeks when you chase them up they probably will say, ohh there was a system issue didn't automatically give you the bonus points, let me credit it to you manually.

                waste of time waiting…

          • +1

            @TetrisMango: same here

  • anyone else getting "OOPS! THIS PAGE CAN'T BE FOUND" when clicking im already a westpac customer?

  • -5

Can people please break these kinds of posts down into a "gift card cash value" - points are meaningless to me, I just wanna know "yeah, it's $320 of gift cards after fees" or "yeah it's $1950 of gift cards after fees!!!"

    • +5

This is around $470 worth of gift cards (at least according to RWRDS site).

Can people please read the description before complaining please??!?!?!

      • +2

"This is around $470 worth of gift cards (at least according to RWRDS site)."

I am embarrassed, thank you. (does that include subtraction of any fees?)

        • +1

If you are a current Westpac customer and don't use the card with overseas fees, late payment etc. there are no fees…

  • Already got the earlier version with 130k points. Currently churning the 100k points from the Citi Rewards card.

  • Is there a free bank account with Westpac you can apply to to get the annual fee waived?

    • I am guessing savings account or like term deposit or something like that.

Their everyday account has a $5 monthly fee (as far as I know) But it is waived for

full time students, or under 30 year olds, or if you deposit a certain $ amount in the account

      • $2000 deposit Monthly

    • +1

brilliant, I've got the black card and didn't even know about this perk — cheers man

  • +1

Also if anyone is interested (I'm still in the process of adding the Singapore Airline miles to the rwrds site):
    Singapore Airlines:
    36,666 KrisFlyer miles
100% of Economy one way to Sydney to Singapore, 20% of return flight
53% of Business one way to Sydney to Singapore

    • Would really appreciate adding a sort by option - minimum annual income required for those on low incomes.
      Thanks

      • +1

I'll add that to the list, sounds like a good feature

  • Is this objectively better than Altitude platinum (110k points, 3k spend, no AF for Westpac customers)?

  • Those who have access to Westpac Altitude store - is there an Essentials GC (Woolies, Big W, etc) apart from the usual Woolies GC?

    • +1

you can even buy eftpos gift card using points, which can be used anywhere. I personally would rather get that one instead since it can be used at any aldi/coles/woolworths/local F&V/fuel etc.

    • +1

There are WISH gift cards on the Westpac Altitude Store.

Gift Card Denomination eGift Card Cost Physical Gift Card Cost
      $20 4,700 5,300
      $50 11,750 12,350
      $100 23,500 24,100

Personally, I’d opt for the annual fee rebate, as it is much better value ($100 annual fee rebate = 20,000 points). You can add multiple rebates to your cart, but I believe you can only claim an annual fee rebate once a year.

  • Can you buy gift cards to reach the spend requirement?

I’ve just got this same card but the QFF version and have no idea how to spend the $4k requirement in the time limit as a giant tight ass

    • +1

prepay gas, electricity, rates and other bills — buy Woolworths / ampol gift cards for food/petrol etc …

      • Can you prepay utilities?

  • I'm going to pay 14k by the end of this month. Already applied for Citi Premier (A$600 cashback via Apple Pay). Is this card a good option or any alternatives? Any advice is welcome. Thanks :)

  • Minimum income required - does that mean if you earn that much you can get the card or is there still credit checks etc ?

    • Minimum income required means this is minimum income you must show you earn in order to be eligible for getting the card, bank will look at other factors too like your expense/cost of living and like other credit lines/loans under your name etc before giving you out any credit card.
With some banks this minimum income means you get that much income AFTERTAX (like HSBC) while other banks may consider this as a PRETAX income. I am not really sure on if they classify it as a pretax (gross taxable income) or after tax income.

Of course it will cost a credit check, All CREDIT CARD applications (at least ones from an AUSTRALIAN BANK) will cost a credit check. If they don't then you really should be wondering if you gave your information to legit bank/lender or some fake website.

  • Can't apply online or in App, stuck on the "Select a Branch" page, searching branches for ages, does anyone have the same problem? what can I do?

    • Applied online today, no issues.

      • which browser did you use? in app or online? thanks

    • No, not had a problem at all, their application process is also so much easier, (they give outcome within 2-3 days) unlike compared to that of ANZ.
But I was so lucky I redeemed that $500 GC offer from ANZ now its way way lower.

  • I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff. I'd like to build up my points for a flight to Europe. Is this a good start? Do I get the points after the 3k spend or at the end of the 12 months?

    • My guess is around 14-90 days from meeting 3K eligible spend.

  • Can anyone tell me if Westpac Altitude points = QFF points? Struggling to find a straight answer on it anywhere. Thanks!

  • If I'm spending 3k in 1 - 1.5 months, is it more worthwhile to take the Altitude Black deal? Extra 30K points but will take twice as long. Are there enough rewards programs/cards around to do one every month or two for 12 months?

    • +2

Depends if you want to spend another 3 K or you think you'll easily spend at least another 2.5K easily in the required period then sure go for it

Otherwise if you wont meet the minimum spend then there's no point in that

Personally i won't be eligible for that due to minimum income required and mini 15K credit limit . If i was I'd be INSTEAD looking for another CC after meeting this one, because 20K altitude points for 3K spend is not good enough

  • Westpac send an email for email verification. You click the link in the email and enter your application number along with email address and this error pops up:

    "We are sorry

There was a problem with our verification options.

Please refer to your email from Westpac to try again later."

Been this way for 2 weeks. Currently on hold for 20 mins to do the income verification. FML

    • +1

So it was 40 mins wait on hold in the end.

The email address to send the details to is [email protected]

Would've been so much easier if they had given the email option in the original email itself rather than the non-working link!

      • Have you got your card? I had the same problem and haven't heard anything since payslips were forwarded to that email. Total silence.

        • +1

Yea, so what ended up happening is after I sent the payslips to that email, they then "enabled" the form or something from the backend.

After which the error message from my original comment didn't appear and I was able to then re-upload my payslips on that form (SMH)

Few days after that I got the approval email. And the card is on the way now.

        • Same here. lol

  • hi guys - paying electric and gas bills in advance will count as valid transactions for the 110k rewards points? or buying gift cards?

    • I'd be trying to make a little partial payment before making full payment.

If really unsure and have to make full payment. I'd be going down the indirect route
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12425709/redir

      • thank you. But how do you purchase or pay to your "Visa/Mastercard prepaid cards" using your Westpac credit card? Any where I can read and learn?

        • +2

          like this
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/717359

otherwise for any other general time you could use other credit lines to pay for your electricity, and then pay for that credit line using your CC. DM me if still cannot understand this bit, happy to help out.

  • If I pay another credit card's bill through BPAY on this card, would that count towards the 3k spend requirements?

NVM: Got an error: This biller doesn't accept payments from this account. Please select another account and try again.

  • Beware of this bank, especially their balance transfer. Last promotion, they promised 0% balance transfer for 24 months. I've signed up and on the 3rd month they pooled the balance transfer and credit purchases together and expect you to paid off in full. I've asked they've answered that they do not know about the promotion materials and can not do anything about this. Such a horrible bank I've ever experienced.

  • +1

does the 12 month wait period apply separately to the Altitude Rewards vs Qantas card (similar to how ANZ does it)?

    • from eligability criteria

The bonus Altitude Points will be added to your points balance within 12 weeks once you meet the eligible spend criteria. Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Earth Classic, Earth Platinum, Earth Platinum Plus, Earth Black, Altitude Classic, Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

  • Got the message saying card is on the way and I can access digital version of card straight away. However I cannot find customer ID in any SMS/emails communication, only the application reference number. Bizarre.

    • Did you open a transaction account before applying? I got mine straight away. It was a smooth process. Managed to meet the spending before card arrived.

      • I didn't. I have too many bank accounts now I don't want another one haha.
Might just wait a week for the card then

        • +1

Hang on, that means you're paying for the annual fee?

          • @jefft1: Yeah but it's fine

            • @RTY: One thing you can try is to press forgot password at log in and try to get you customer ID.
