Cheap import from Amazon. Seems to be the lowest I've seen recently without having to sign up for a plan or trade in another phone.

I was tossing up between the Pixel 6 Pro and the S22+ and decided to stick with Samsung as I keep my phones for a long time and Google only gives 2 years of support and updates whereas Samsung now provide 4. If you change phones often or don't care about security updates the Pixel has a lot going for it IMO.
Not quite right, pixel 6 onwards get at least 3 years of android version updates and 5 years of security updates.
Samsung is still a bit better though, they are offering 4 years of version updates and 5 years of security.
Will it even last 3 years? lol
Batteries on these pixels are shocking@jmeister: Not sure how you use yours. Ours are fine. Pixel3s are still doing well. My pixel 6 pro still lasts 2 days before it dies, if I let it. Heading to bed now with it still on 60%.
@jmeister: No this person's quite right. The modems are shockingly bad. Abysmal battery life for a 5000mah battery in the pro.
I can only imagine how bad ittl get with degradation over the years.
@Hahuh: Must be good you(poorly) use it.
My pixel 5 is almost 2 years old and the battery seems to be almost as good as day 1.@neirboca: Pixel 5 is an exception cannot be used for comparison. I also own one and it's battery is good although it's slowly coming down especially when you got Bluetooth on
@neirboca: Once you have bluetooth on for headset or wearable, you won't last a day even on a Pixel 5.
I've got an S21 and a Pixel 3… I prefer the pixel 3 and it was still getting updated until recently maybe the last 6 months it hasn't. So support is pretty good. After using both… I'll be getting the new Pixel when my S21 is due to be replaced.
just bought s22 today and gotta say the camera is really disappointing. Coming from an old pixel I was just expecting it to match my Pixel in terms of camera quality and nothing more. But I was wrong. Can't even match a 5 years old Pixel 2. Both front and back.
Surely screen and everything else is better but not the camera.Subjective matter imo
Samsung's cameras have been never good enough for even flagship models.
@baldur: Agree. Hauwei p20 pro was better than my note 10+ and wife's oppo find x3 smashes it. But sofwltware Samsung is better although bloated.
@mousie: i guess this is why it's subjective, i like huawei p20 software much better than samsung
@oranglama: I like P20 Pro software more than Huawei but for non-raw photos (auto-processed) i still prefer Samsung..
@mousie: Also depends if you want to be ethical in your purchases.
@baldur: agree to disagree
Yeah my pixel 3 goes alright, but I still think even my Lumia 920 took better pics. Had floating Zeiss pureview lens (and dedicated 2 stage camera button.)
I had 920 and 925. Their cameras were better than Samsung S5 & S7. But not as good as Huawei mate 10, and P30Pro. Photos from my Lumia phones are rather noisy.
I had an S21U and now have P6P and was kind of the opposite, everyone carry's on about how pixel cameras are the 2nd coming of Jesus but IMO, the experience was pretty similar.
One thing I have missed though is some of the extra features of the Samsung, I captured some really cool little videos of my 3 year old at SeaWorld on a kiddy roller coaster with the Samsung as it lets you record picture in picture with the front and rear facing cameras, so the video was a FPV view of the roller coaster + our faces and her reactions. Can't seem to do that with the Pixels.
Haven't decided if I'll get the pixel 7 next or wait for the S23 series…
Is that an ultra only feature?
@Spending2Much: Na when I looked it up it's been on all Samsung's since like way back to the S7 or something… So no excuse for google not to have implemented it by now.
If it's helpful to anyone, there are several apps that work on the p6p that will achieve the same results (front and back camera simultaneously). I've tested the below this morning.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bagestudio…
S22 Ultra owner and for the money, the cameras are garbage. Any type of movement and blur city.
Hence I gave up on Samsung. You need both good hardware and software for a good camera. Pixel wins over on software but hardware is only average. But Samsung not having the software to go with its hardware.
Exynos is a joke and Google Tensor is even worse than Exynos…
My pixel 6 is great
Yeah no issues with the processor, just a shame about the fingerprint sensor and the crappy modem.
Still a very good phone for $710 though.
First time in a while Australia getting the SD version, but the SD 8 gen 1 is also a joke….
Joke as in the gen 1 is a 🔥boy right? People seem to be misrepresenting what you're saying.
Yeah, it's a 🔥boy and so inefficient.
I thought Aus version of S22 is using Snapdragon
It is SD
Yeah you are just getting confused because old mate decided to have a rant about Exynos on a post that the phone doesn't contain a Exynos processor.
Pixel 6 = Google Tensor
S22 = Snapdragon 8 gen 1Finally get SD and people still whinging.
What is the difference buying UK stock vs local stock?
warranty
seller is Amazon UK.. so should cover warranty for 2 years right?
Amazon UK isn’t the same as Amazon AU
Waiting for 6a or 7a
Why 6a? 6a will cost you $749 and pixel not always have big discount until black friday.
6 have better camera, wireless charging and 90 hz screen and you can buy now for cheaper price.
I think only good thing to buy 6a is smaller size screen and better fingerprint reader?
Dont forget the warranty for the 6a
The 6a is also lighter.
Smaller and lighter is a big consideration for one-handed operation (Pokemon Go).
That said, with the Google Tensor heat problems I'm probably waiting for the 7a.
I think pixel 6 and 6pro prices are dropping pretty quick, I'm thinking this or wait for oneplus 9pro / 10 price to drop.
Anyone thinking similar? The pro version drops quicker than normal version. But both are stable enough at current market, at least compared to the galaxy.
6a has been announced iirc?
Nope?
uh, it has. I just checked and it looks like it's hitting the market at the end of July, on the 28th.
Sorry you are right! I was thinking "available" which is not yet. Announced indeed. Man they announced all the way in May and still not available til end July.
Is 6a likw a iphone S model?
@CalmLemons: Like an SE? Yes, budget version.
Is 6a likw a iphone S model?
Sort of. They are a cheaper model but sometime end up being better phones (eg the 3a it had a plastic case which some see as bad but I prefer because it's lighter and more robust to knocks, and a larger battery than the 3 but still came with the same high end camera)
Yes it has and so has the 7 and 7 Pro.
Just wait for s23. Big camera update coming.
Yeah always an update coming. How about getting it right from the start.
Sharp price OP.
Dunno about pixels. Bought a pixel 2 on launch but returned after 2 weeks of use terrible battery and overrated camera with too much software, not hardware touches which can be done with better optics.
Great ongoing OS support but seriously rate the oppos find x series now super affordable too.
Been a note user since the note 2 and still on a note 10+ considering Sammy s22 ultra when the fires ale comes out for a recond with 23 launch.
You might as well say the iPhone 3s has a terrible battery compared to the iPhone 6 given its limited features, performance and camera.
This or the a73?
A73 if you prioritise battery life, this for just about everything else.
the battery is not very good and the in-screen fingerprint scanner is shit.
The pixel google stock os without the shingling overlay from Samsung is the best reason why you should pick pixel, despite some people nagging pixel 6 I have had zilch issue. Everything just work like it should. It's the most pleasant experience. The S22 battery is probably the worst I have ever seen. It runs out so quickly it's not even funny.if you thought the pixel 6 has battery issue, you have not met the mother of all battery issues _ galaxy s22 and s21 also, so bD it's like running on Eveready AAA size battery
Saying the pixel 6 has battery issue makes me wonder maybe that's why it was reported that S22 is overstock with millions unsold units sitting at Samsung warehouse no one wants it the Samsung finger security only improved very recently it was horrible for S10, S20 and S21Pixels have type c video output disabled.
Should I wait for Amazon Prime Day in the next few days or just buy it now?
Just wondering if there will be any increased cashback happening…It is a pity that the Asus phones are not marketed much here.
The Zenphone 8 / 8 flip and the ROGs are great.I would refuse to get Samsung or any Chinese phones for personal reasons. (Samsung has been caught out employing public relation companies to bad mouth other brands overseas. Like pretending to be users of those brands and have fake issues or blow things out of proportion. There was a running joke that you can tell which company is going to announce a new phone if all of sudden many people start complain about that brand and their products on all the forums. And very obvious, cos only Samsung is immune to it. Now these things still happen, but culprit is suspected to be certain Chinese ones although no one has proof, where when Samsung did it, it was verified by the government officials.)
Any comments on the camera quality in the Zenphone 8 ? I like the form factor but I want a good camera
From what I have read, it is not bad. Especially with the stuff you get to do in the 8flip
Why there is no estimated delivery time !?
The fingerprint sensor is rubbish on this but you get used to it. Camera is mad
Supposedly new versions of pixels better than the old but pixel 5 has the best fingerprint sensor. Extremely accurate when masks were a thing makes facial recognition useless
I like the idea of getting a Pixel phone but the deal breaker is theres no LinageOS support for Tensor chips and Google end support too soon.
why would you bother with lineageOS when grapheneOS has proper support
the standard of software is significantly better for grapheneOS
Is this the pro version? I'm confused. I thought only the pro version came with 128 or better?
No, this is the standard version which goes up to 256 GB. Base capacity for both is 128 GB (Pro goes to 512 GB)
Huge plus for this phone is the iFixit partnership.
Explain please?
You can buy parts from iFixit and fix your Pixel yourself
does anyone know if this pixel now has the face recognition function or is that still on hold?
No it doesn’t
Pixel 6 Pro might get face recognition pretty soon.
Pixel 6 will not.I think what phone you buy depends on your usage and preference.
My wife and elder son have Sammy. ( Note and S20 FE respectively).
My younger son and I have Pixel ( 6 and 6 Pro respectively). I also have Pixel 4XL and iPhone 12 Pro Max. ( Yes, I have three active phones). In shots of the moon, the Samsung phones win hands down.
For virtually everything else, Pixel photo quality is better for me.
Battery life depends on the usage.
At this price point, it is a good buy.
Does anyone know if this still qualifies for the tourist refund scheme at the airport?
I am wondering. What do you mean by "still"? Isn't it just a question of whether GST is in the price?
Yeah was unsure if GST works with this as it's shipped by Amazon UK?
Half tempted but for the overheating issue. Aus is not a place to have a hot phone.
so since this is from Amazon UK and not Amazon AU there are no cashback/Shopback offers right?
the cashback has been announce which included UK but capped at $20 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711747
cheers, not much in this particular instance but it's something
now i just need to figure out if i want to buy a pixel 6 or $690 worth of cardano
am I missing something, I have to pay an import fee deposit when I order 2 units.
I'm guessing I just order it one at a time.1k triggers an import tax in australia - i believe it's specific to electronics but i could be wrong
at any rate 2 separate transactions is probably the way to go
edit: not exclusive to electronics
"For goods with a value of AUD1000 or less, there are generally no duties, taxes or charges to pay at the border. However, From 1 July 2018, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) may be collected by overseas vendors of such low value goods when imported from overseas by consumers in Australia."
Anyone here who placed an order, did get any notification that said is shipped?
I ordered one yesterday, no email regarding shipping.
They also haven't taken the money from my card too.they haven't charged me either, but i thought it was because i didn't have enough funds in my debit card account
customer service rep said they haven't even attempted to charge yet and will only do so when order is ready to be shipped
they probably have a bit of a back log
Interestingly I ordered on the 11th and checking my card it looks like a charge just came through overnight. Phone still listed as "preparing for shipment" though.
I bought 13/7 and paid the extra $35 for express post which is supposed to be within 4-6 business days. Nothing has happened yet.
Still no date or shipping information. Also my card hasn't been charged.
Ordered mine on the 7th and still waiting for a shipping date. Anyone here actually get theirs shipped?
what type of charger does this come with?
This or Galaxy S22?
