If you don't mind a refurb of the iPhone 11 Pro/Pro Max, it comes close to this price

    • +31

I dunno, I would never buy a refurb phone. Phones are used so much on a day to day basis, I'd rather just get a new one

      • +2

Apple Official Refurb is not bad

        • +12

Apple don't sell refurbished iPhones in Australia.

        • Been there, done that. Never again

      • +2

Give it wipe down and it's fine? Most of the time people's phones are kept in cases anyway so the only real part that gets used is the screen, with a screen protector on it as well?

        • +4

I dunno about refurb phones man. I watch explicit content and get off a load using my phone in 4K content. I would never buy someone else's refurbished phone

      • +3

I don’t buy refurbished phones (the only exception is directly from Apple, but they don’t sell them here anyway), but not for that reason. I recommend against it because you never know what the phone has gone through - eg. Water damage, drops, etc. And there are so many phones out there being sold as refurbished, with shoddy repairs using non-OEM parts.

Battery and screen are the most common ones, but it can literally be anything. Have you seen those videos of people going to a Chinese electronic market to buy parts to build an iPhone from scratch? Whatever part you want, there’s a non-OEM Chinese-made part out there for it.

There’s a fairly high chance you end up with a “lightly used” iPhone with a crappy off brand Chinese battery (with reduced capacity) and a non-OEM screen that dimmer/worse quality at best, and may even kill certain functions such as TrueTone. All in all just not worth it, I usually recommend buying 1-2 year old models for good prices, as iPhone processors and long iOS update supports are plenty good enough to last for years without lag/slowdown.

Those are fair arguments. think I bought mine from a reputable outlet though, at the time anyway.

        • +2

My son experienced what you described - got a refurb iPhone XS from an eBay seller, when it came time to change the battery because it was dying, Apple service centre broke the screen in the process as it was third party. Apple kind enough to give him a brand new XS for the cost of the battery. And he immediately realised how much better the display was, compared to before. Lesson learned.

      link?

    • is the pro a much better phone?

      • I think if you have to ask that question for these phones, the answer is no.
There will be features on the pro that you won't ever notice over the non-pro.

      • +1

Not really, only the camera features are better.

        • +3

The Pro has an OLED screen which is a huge upgrade from the 11.

          • @FrugalSplack: True forgot about that.

            • +1

@nicolascage: Plus it feels like a normal phone. The regular 11 is huge and heavy in comparison.

              • +1

@bozbargain: "The ‌iPhone 11‌ is 5.94 inches tall, 2.98 inches wide, and 0.33 inches thick, with a weight of 6.84 ounces. The ‌iPhone 11‌ Pro is ever slightly smaller at 5.67 inches tall, 2.81 inches wide, and 0.32 inches thick, with a weight of 6.63 ounces."

                Huge in comparison?? Lol..

The LCD on the 11 is still great, though not as nice as the OLED on Pro. If you don't see them side by side though you'd never miss it.

                • @FXx: Yes, it’s a significant difference. Maybe convert inches to mm and ounces to grams to get a better idea. The iPhone 11 looks and feels like an outdated brick compared to the 11 Pro (same with the XR vs the XS). It’s a solid phone though, it just lacks a premium feel because of its massive bezels and large body.

    Good price. Good phone.

  • +1

    Does this come unlocked?

    • +2

No, it is locked to Tel$tra for life.

Only kidding, it is unlocked. The price is not low enough to be a locked phone.

  • Sorry im not familiar with how telstra do things bur Should i asked someone who’s with telstra so i can buy it outright? Or i can simply buy a sim and then create telstra account so i can buy the phone outright?

    • +1

Either, or… however, if there’s an issue with your order, only the account person can speak to Telstra (unless they add you as an authorised contact)

    • +3

Get a two- dollar sim ,you are able to activate it without recharge.

  • +2

Gonna hold out for deal on the 13 mini

  • Any 256GB?

  • +1

Waiting for the 12 to hit these prices. OLED and the magnet thing at the back seem like features worth waiting for.

    • +1

It has been OLED since iPhone X

      • +4

Not the base iPhones. iPhone Xr and 11 are not OLED. From iPhone 12 onwards they have all been OLED bar the SE's.

        • Yeah right, that’s a bit slack isn’t it!

          • @Doy: Yeah but at least they are OLED now. I feel like the iPhone 12 will be a big hit at 750-800.

            • +1

@Zylam Marex: It was a big hit at RRP. It’s also $899 as part of the Telstra deals.

              • @Mitch889: Yeah, 900 is a good deal but probably just a little out of touch for me. 750 for a 2 gen iPhone feels pretty good.

        • The iPhone X has an OLED screen.

          • @SirDale: The iPhone X was not the base iPhone in its day and was far more expensive, the iPhone 8 Series were the base iPhones. The iPhone Xr and 11 are base iPhones for their generation and don't have OLED panels. The iPhone 12 is the base iPhone and has an OLED panel. When the 14 comes out, the iPhone 12 should hopefully come down to the current 11 levels. You'll be getting OLED and magsafe.

            • @Zylam Marex: You’re leaving out the iPhone SE which is in its 3rd Gen has been the true base iPhone for years, but whatever.

              • @Mitch889: I did mention the SE up top and the SE is a different line up and not part of the main line iPhones. They don't come out every year, even if it is in its 3rd gen it's not part of the yearly refresh. It makes no sense to even talk about the SE. It's in the name, Special Edition.

                • -1

@Zylam Marex: Sorry mate, you can’t say ”base iPhone” then backtrack to make it as thought you were talking base of the “main line” iPhones, whatever that means.

You’re talking nonsense, the iPhone SE is the closest thing to a base iPhone, no matter how often it’s refreshed.

                  • @Mitch889: I said base of its generation, I'm not back tracking. And with the phones mentioned, Xr and 11 and this deal being for an 11, it's astonishing that you'd think the SE is being talked about at all. Only you can't seem to comprehend that and are adding nothing to the conversation besides trying to be "that guy" with all the info and knowledge. Try again buddy.

People pay 700 for non oled phones? Crazy

      • Yeah, not worth it for me.

  • kpb?

    iPhone 12 mini 128GB was $799 on 24/5/22 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/702044 and $699 for the 64GB iPhone 12 mini on Telstra day 4/8/21 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/642368

Better to hold off until iPhone 12 mini or 13 mini go on sale again. Better screen, better processor, 13 mini better battery life, better cameras, for only a bit more than iPhone 11.

  • I’m on iPhone 7 Plus screen destroyer and LCD screen bleeding everywhere should I just fix it or get this?

    • +1

Should get a new one if you can afford; no point spending money on 7 anymore.

    • Get this!

    • +3

      iPhone 7 Plus screen destroyer

Sounds like one of those ultra limited edition phones!

  • I will definitely pay $198 more to get iPhone 12 if I were to get an old generation iPhone.
Plus, you have to be on a Telstra plan to buy it at $699. Not a deal for me.

    • How to get iphone 12 for $897 ($699+$198)?

      Genuine question…

      .

    • +1

Plus, you have to be on a Telstra plan to buy it at $699. Not a deal for me.

No you don't, there is an outright option. Also, if you had a Tel$tra account in the past and you registered for online access, chances are you can buy it.

  • The Apple Store will also match this deal and get you set up through telstra

  • Will this deal be price match by jb?

  • I have an existing Telstra plan until Boxing Day. How long before I can unlock the phone to other networks?

    • unlocked from purchase, so…. mmm 0 zero time
