No risk of tampering (unlike the Coles/Woolies deals), so if you're after frequent flyer points, it's the best way to go.

    • +1

Also as far as I am aware there is no daily limit on cards and points.

    • +4

Absolutely! I recently purchased five gift cards from Woolworths, but unfortunately, all of them were tampered with. Consequently, I am now required to wait for 10 business days before Apple can rectify the issue and issue me replacements.

      • Huh, what do you mean by tampered with?

        • +1

          Couldn’t redeemed any

          • @ujwols: is it the newer version of apple giftcards?

            • @hihi: yes it is

              • @ujwols: they somehow tampered with my giftcard too,i checked everything and it was perfect giftcard, my barcode was missing a few number behind the plastic thing. it was impossible to damage that part ,

        • i went to my local woolies, there were no apple gift cards available. After asking it turned out half of them didnt work(most likly tempered with) so they pulled it all off the shelf(to discard). Cant believe they dont keep them behind the counter as a policy.

      • +2

Going through this exact process now, new legit cards from Woolworths but when I scratched the foil it took out the middle digit of both cards. F**king furious to be honest it’s $1k worth of cards.

    • Not completely risk-free. I bought a few $500 Apple gift cards from giftcards.com.au a couple of years ago. One of them didn't work. Still no resolution to this day.

  • Sorry I'm new to Qantas points, so if I buy $1000 gift card, I'll get 10,000 points? How much are they worth?

    • +6

      Yes, 10 points per dollar.

What they're worth depends on what you redeem them for. First class international flights? You can get up to 8 cents per point in value. Toasters? Not so much.

Generally though, I assign a notional value of 1 cent per point (i.e. so you get $100 'worth' of points). Note that you'll need more points to redeem flights from 5 August 2025.

    • You can sell them on classifieds for maybe $0.013, eBay for $0.014 per point.
So $1000 gift cards = $130. But it's hard to sell points unless you're selling in bulk, like 50-100k points.

      • +2

It also gives you a pretty decent chance of losing your points, they are getting better a cracking down on that.

  • Perfect timing! About to order a new Mac studio! 120k points come at me!

    • -5

      The woolies were doing 20x.

      • +16

Converts to the same number of Qantas points and no risk of buying tampered cards.

      • +1

I went to 3 woolies today and only 1 of them had $20 and $30 cards, others had none.

    • 120k points?? You're spending $12k?

      • And change.

        • Is it possible to spend 12K in Gift cards on one transaction? Apple accounts have a $5000 limit in value applied with gift cards. Can you use additional cards beyond the $5000 limit on purchases?

  • Anyone know if the Amex QF Platinum tracks this as a Qantas purchase?

    • +2

Yes, give you an extra point.

    • Doesn't look like it but damn that would be good!

"Selected Qantas products and services are Qantas passenger flights with a QF flight number purchased directly from Qantas.com.au; Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club membership joining and/ or annual fees. Subject to Qantas American Express Card Points Terms and Conditions."

      • +6

It does. I can confirm ANZ, StGeorge and Amex all give 1 extra Qantas point on Qantas Marketplace purchases.

  • +9

Interesteing. I gave up the Apple / QFF Points game due to the growing issues with physical card tampering.

I had no idea that digital Apple Gift Cards were even a thing. Far simpler and convenient IMO.

And the QFF earn rate is the same as the 20x WW/Coles offers.

EDIT - when purchasing from QFF Store… make SURE to DOUBLE CHECK that you are paying with MONEY (CCard) and not with QFF points… (ask me how I know).

      How do you know?

Why does Apple take up to 12 hours to email a digital egift card?

    • fraud prevention.

    • Ordered last night at 11:15pm, nearly 12 hours and nothing

  • +4

Please be mindful that when you buy using gift cards and also doing a trade in via online store, Apple credits you back the trade in value back in gift cards first, not bank card. Any left over then goes back to your bank card

If trading in, best to do the trade in via store in person so they can deduct the value off your purchase immediately.

Great, now I get something back when using these cards to pay my tax bill.

    • how do you pay tax bill via apple gift cards?

Reminder, DO NOT REDEEM before giving the codes to the nice man on the phone to pay your fines/surprise tax debt.

  • Saw this on one of the reviews: "Being able to purchase Apple digital gift cards on Qantas Marketplace is great. However you need to call Qantas Marketplace to finalise the purchase and activate the card, which is unnecessarily troublesome due to the hold queue waiting times. It would be much better if there was an automated number…"

    • And another, "Qantas force you to call them after purchasing I purchased on a weekend so could not call until Monday morning then waited in the phone queue for almost an hour before someone picked up to verify my details before the card was activated."

    • Can someone verify if you need to call Qantas to activate the gift card?? This would be a no no gor me due to wait times and the hassle.

      • +1

I recently bought and did not have to.

    • I bought them last night (around 1k), got an SMS immediately asking me to call them to verify. I called them this morning and got verified immediately, no waiting time

  • Anyone get this error when using CC to pay?
"Cannot destructure property 'avsResult' of 'additionalData' as it is null."

  • -1

If you need to return something, will apple refund in cash or gift cards?
I'd expect gift cards, but their terms state refunds go to bank accounts, except if returned with a gift receipt.

This seems to be a good deal, but part of the benefit of purchasing from apple is their easy returns policy

    • The staff don't know how you paid, so they give you the option. If you paid with gift card and you choose original payment method (aka bank), you will just get a delayed gift card sent to your email (couple hours). If you choose gift card, they send you one immediately.
