  • These large screen plasmas are getting really affordable.

JB also have them, not sure if its internet only, good price:
$1521.90 (deal now expired, ended on Mon 6-Oct)

I don't think these models are 100hz. But I'm not really sure if that feature is all that important. Best to research before you buy

  • Bing Lee have the LG 50PG20D for $1590. I prefer it over the Samsung, it seems to handle darker scenes better and the user interface is friendlier. It also has 100Hz. Specs - http://au.lge.com/products/model/detail/tv_plasmatv_integrat…

Then again, the Samsung has a 2 year warranty and LG is only 1.

  • I'm not knocking the price (or the deal) but before you buy remember 1365 x 768 = blurry mess @ 50"

    • A blurry mess? Dude, are you serious? You have no idea what you're talking about.

At normal viewing distances, you will not notice the difference between a HD panel and a Full HD panel with both playing 720p or 1080p content.

      End of discussion.

Full HD is not worth the extra bucks yet.

  • i'm not so sure that 100hz is all that important.

apparently its not so important on plasma tvs as flickering is not a big problem

i am of the understanding that if the tv has 100hz, then its important that it also has the function to lower the refresh rate to 50hz or 60hz, because 100hz sometimes introduces artifacts

about the 720p vs 1080p resolution, this is also not important if you are going to sit at a normal distance away from the tv. it is only noticeable close up AND only if the source content is 1080p (blu-ray)

in other words, generally speaking, 100hz and 1080p are not worth the extra $$$ you might be paying

  • Great price - positive vote.

  • the pana 50" hd ready plasma can be had around this price too after some haggling. Not sure if the specs or better or not though
