I have the platinum rewards card. Can I switch to the platinum FF card and get the points? Thanks

    • +2

It will have to be a new application

    • +1

You can't switch card, and collect the bonus points - I'm pretty sure there is a T&C about it (but I cbf checking)

You can apply for the QFF card separately (then cancel your existing one, cancel your existing one before applying, or keep both)

    • +1

      Theyre 2 different programs
      You can hold both

  • -1

Yes as both programs are different.

  • +1

when do you get the $200 back? as its $295 annual fee and then at some point you get the cash back.

anyway wondering if you did one of these programs, you get all the points and then you cancel the card after 4 months of use and then they can't charge you the annual fee?

    • +2

Don't quote me but I think they charge the fee at the start?

    • +1

They charge it as part of your first statement, and then once you've reached the milestone (ie, $2500 in months) then the $200 will be credited to your account. Once you've then also received the 100k Qantas points you can cancel the card, and they should be able to refund you the pro-rata'd amount difference. This is what I did on my ANZ Credit Card (you will need to check this for your specific card). Funnily enough, once I cancelled it, the amount the use for the pro-rata'd refund is the initial amount, so you end up getting a net positive amount :)

      • +1

Hi evorgevol - did you have to ask for this? With previous ANZ cards I had - they would not refund the annual fee pro-rataed when I cancelled

        • -5

Why would they I'm sure it states the $200 to be credited once you've spend $2500 to hit the required milestone.

Irritates me when people break the rules then complain they don't get bent in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways when you don't stick to the agreement. The only problem here is you.

That said I see NAB is doing it tbh don't agree with it but there you go.

          • +2

@4foxache: What harm is there asking if they can pro-rate the refund? The bank isn’t your friend.

            • -7

@BargainGeezer: Push these already good deals too far and they'll cease to exist completely. Pretty sure maccas used to offer free meals to cops as well until that got abused.

        • Hi @Gazpacho,

Sorry, only just saw your reply now. I did ask for it, yes, and they didn't question it, they just did it. If I hadn't have asked for it, then I'm certain they wouldn't have offered it.

      • Is your comment confirmed?

  • Can you get out of the fee for first year?

What is 110,000 points worth? I loved that last ANZ deal with the JB Hifi cards - I got $800 worth!

  • +8

    FYI in the T&C's

"Offer not available where you currently hold an ANZ Rewards, ANZ Rewards Platinum, ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures or ANZ Rewards Black credit card, or have closed, or qualified for bonus Reward Points or a credit back on, any of those ANZ Rewards credit cards within the previous 12 months"

    and

"Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card. Offer not available where you currently hold an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card, or have closed, or qualified for bonus Qantas Points or a credit back on, any of those ANZ Frequent Flyer credit cards within the previous 12 months"

    • +2

The condition around ANZ Rewards (Not frequent flyer) pertains to different card: ANZ Rewards Platinum credit card. The T&C are combined for both types of Platinum Credit Cards (Rewards & Frequent Flyer).

    • +3

Rules out most ozb'ers who have had an anz FF card in the last 12 months

    • "Offer not available where you currently hold an ANZ Rewards, ANZ Rewards Platinum, ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures or ANZ Rewards Black credit card, or have closed, or qualified for bonus Reward Points or a credit back on, any of those ANZ Rewards credit cards within the previous 12 months"

OUCH - Darnit I got my black one about 6 months ago, gotta cancel it soon.

      • +1

Check with ANZ but I am pretty sure ANZ Rewards does not matter for this card (Frequent Flyer). As long as you haven't hold ANZ Frequent Flyer card in last 12 months you should be fine but again check with ANZ to be doubly sure.

        • +1

Thanks - double checked the T&Cs - as you mentioned in your other comment they throw all the T&Cs together on the same page. If you want the bonus qantas points you can't currently hold or held in the last 12 months a ANZ Frequent Flyer card

          • @jh084: So I could get this card, despite having an ANZ Black? I just got $800 of JBHifi cards from it.

  • +1

this is great - the one time a credit card has a deal for existing cardholders it has to be for the ANZ card I cancelled >.>

    • Same….just cancelled about 8 months ago..not eligible for this one and not for the other new card bonus..

  • +1

Nice deal for smaller credit limit.
I'm waiting for an uplift in their Rewards card since I'm on the ANZ FF 12 month waitlist still

  • Will the 12mths rule apply here? I just closed my ANZ credit card few months ago.

    • Looks like the 12mths rule does apply.

    • +1

12 months applies but ANZ allow 2 different 12 month periods:
      1) ANZ rewards
      2) ANZ frequent flyer

      • Unfortunately, the previous ANZ card that I had was on ANZ FF program.

        • You're on the waiting list like many of us then.
St George has a decent frequent flyer deal:
$0 fee for 60,000 QFF points
$139 fee for 90,000 QFF points

          • @cook99: Can you link, please. Can only find $279 fee for 90,000 points.

            • @Yola: It's for existing customers through their Internet banking portal.

              • +1

@vetopower: Can you share the sign up link? Westpac do the same thing. I simply changed the URL to include the promo code (that only customers can see)..and I received a letter of offer that included all the bonuses that only customers were supposed to get.

            • +1

@Yola: What vetopower said. Sign up for a free deposit account, wait a week and then apply for credit card

            • +1

@Yola: Amplify Qantas Platinum offer for existing customers:-

              • 60,000 bonus Qantas Points when you spend $3,000 or more on eligible purchases in the first 90 days from card approval>.
              • No card fee for the first year (saving $99)+.
              • Plus, 0% p.a. interest on balance transfers for 24 months#. When requested at card application. 1% balance transfer fee applies if you make a balance transfer. The variable cash advance rate will apply after this promotional period.

Offer not available if you’ve held a St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA rewards card in the last 12 months. New cards only, T&Cs apply.

              The main T&C:-

              > Bonus Qantas Points Offer: The respective bonus Qantas Points promotions are available when you apply and are approved for a new Amplify Qantas Platinum or Amplify Qantas Signature credit card between 27th October 2021 and 30th June 2022, and spend the minimum amount of $3,000 on eligible purchases on a Amplify Qantas Platinum credit card or $6,000 on eligible purchases on an Amplify Qantas Signature credit card within 90 days from card approval in one or more transactions. Eligible purchases do not include interest, fees and charges, cash or ATM cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, gambling transactions, a purchase from or payment to a local, state or federal government or government related agency, BPAY or similar transactions (such as Post Billpay), refunds and balance transfers debited to the card account. Existing customers who currently hold an Amplify, Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer. The bonus Qantas Points will be credited to your Points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met.

              • @UrMumsOnlyFan: So spend $6k/90 days for 90k points? Seems steep.

                • @lucyrenegade: That is the Amplify Qantas Signature offer with reduced first year annual fee of $139. Not many people would be tempted by that one.

  • Can anyone share whether when you cancel ANZ cards - you get the annual fee back pro rata?

    • Interested to know as well!

    • -6

That’s not a thing that exists for any CC provider.

      • +5

That’s not a thing that exists for any CC provider

        Apparently NAB does.

        • +1

I did it successfully with NAB, got the entire annual fee back after I reached the minimum spend within the first billing cycle. ANZ does not offer this though I've read the terms and conditions.

          • +1

@tabboy: NAB was great to me as well, refunded the whole annual fee back, speaking to a person is probably better than speaking to a bot for this.

            • @lilfatbum: I got 11/12ths back from NAB (via livechat) and wasn't unhappy with that.

      • +1

In my experience, most providers will now refund annual fees either on a pro-rata basis (NAB, Qantas Money), or entirely if you're very early in your membership year (BOM). Never hurts to ask!

        • +1

Would be nice, I know nab do it but don't mention it in their terms anywhere.

Why would they do this? It goes again what they want, making people get bonus and leave straight away.

          • @PerthectDeal: Post-Royal Commission, it's probably not a good look to be charging people for things that they're not using. This is especially relevant due to the clampdown on banks acting in a predatory manner towards customers. Say a customer were to legitmately realise after a month that this card was too expensive for them or thought that the card was causing them to lose control of their spending. It would be a fairly predatory move for a bank to assert that it is entitled to retain the annual fee paid upfront. The customer may be left feeling like there is no way out, thus starting the spiral of debt. Essentially, refunding these fees is the banks' way of getting ahead of further criticism of their practices.

Many people are not entirely in control of their spending and financial position, and the sign on bonuses that we at OzBargain take advantage of may well be a contributor to others being taken advantage of by the banks.

      • +1

I had pro rata annual fee back from Amex and NAB

  • This or the ANZ FF Black…?

    • +1

The black looks like a better deal, but I've been knocked back for the ANZ Black previously, so this one looks less risky with getting approved. I'd rather get approved with a smaller bonus.

  • knocked back wtf. after being a loyal anz mortgage holder for 8 years

    • +3

      Loyalty < New Customer

    • -1

Holding an existing mortgage with ANZ would just one small part of the decision process.

After a knock back, I would suggest checking through your credit history to see if there's anything unusual. Or maybe it may be due to other debt obligations you have (other credit cards, personal loans, etc).

Goes without saving, but trusting yourself, and most people would be applying for the lowest limit available as a general practice - which is typically $6,000 for Platinum cards like these, and $15,000 for Black/Signature cards.

  • Does anyone know if there is minimum annual income requirement for this card?

    • +1

They used to advertise $35k around 4 years ago, before new credit rules came in and they "looked at your entire financial position"

  • +4

$95 fee for 110k points vs $200 for 160k points on the ANZ FF black. Extra $105 for 50k points seems worth it (purely from $/points perspective).

    • purely from a $/points perspective it isn't actually.

plat visa is 95/110,000 = $0.000864 per point
black visa is 200/160,000 = $0.00125 per point

It cost 44.74% more per point on the black visa card deal.

Boils down to how much you value each FF point that's NOT on this deal.

      • +1

I was specifically talking about the $105 for 50k extra points when I mentioned $/points. There are other factors that might deter you from applying from the black card (hard to get, higher spending requirement).

        • Agreed. $105 is also for 2 lounge passes and better earn rate. And while it's against the terms & conditions, I keep seeing people selling 2x lounge passes over $100 espeically with long expiry date.

      • +1

The generic offer is 70k points for zero fee.. $0.0000 per point.

    • don't forget about min credit limit 6k vs 15k.

  • +5

Existing customer and all my salary gets paid into my account yet ANZ india still calls wanting payslips… and now wants rental statement too, everything is is in my bank statement just go look omg

    • Commonwealth bank did asked same to me even though all my pay and retail income credited there. So may be some kind of privacy stops them from sneaking into you account

  • +1

110,400 points Perth to NYC return, not bad!

    • what dates?

      • I put in end of October, taxes where only $436 aswell so could be a cheap trip.

Edit 11th to the 25th of October and 32 hour flight time each way.

        • gotcha, that gives a rough idea. thank you. I want to go to LA next year, and if I can at least have one way business, it's fine by me : )

  • +4

just received approval for this card - took me about 2 weeks for approval, 3 or 4 calls from their Indian team and sending about 15 pdfs with payslips

    • +1

Well done on your patience. I gave up last year when applying for their black card.

  • +9

ANZ's credit assessment team is very difficult to work with. Stupid follow-ups and closing requests notwithstanding they've been answered. It's just too hard. In one instance, they did two credit enquiries for the one application. One letter saying application closed despite them having everything they'd asked for. Height of incompetence. No thanks - I gave up and the application was one every other bank would accept no questions asked.

    • +3

seems to be a common pattern judging by yours and the comments above, it's good if people know this in advance before they open up an application.

  • +1

Applied for my Black ANZ cc with minimum 15k limit on thursday 7th April . Got an approval on Monday 11th April .

    Did I get pranked?

  • +2

Tried to open an account with ANZ, and I can't even get through the ID verification process…

  • If I had a anz platinum rewards in the last 12 months, I can't apply right?

    • +1

If you had ANZ Platinum Frequent Flyer card then yes you can't till it's 12 months since.

      • I dont think it was the frequent flyer one, I just got the anz reward points

  • Am I right to think that if I open a basic account with anz that this offer will likely become available…… And that I could choose their basic $5 a month account and drop in $2k to avoid the monthly fee……

What about closing the bank account once you get the card but keeping the credit card. Can you do that?

  • any sole directors applied? do they require tax returns and all that hoopla?

  • I can see this link in my ANZ banking, but as soon as I click it, it's suddenly just 70,000 points instead of 110,000.

Similarly, there's a ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card with 160,000 points for $425 fee, $225 refunded, but once I click it, it changes to 90,000 points.

Any ideas how I can get the full points? I don't have a bank account with ANZ, just a low rate credit card.

    • I have an account and I also see that.

    • +3

If you have ANZ app, follow this navigation : Login -> For You -> Personal Accounts -> Credit Cards -> ANZ Frequent Flyer Cards

You will see first ANZ Frequent Flyer Black (previous linked offer) and second ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum (this offer)

From Net Banking, follow this navigation : Login -> Products & Offers -> Under Personal products and services Click on Credit Cards -> Second listing is this offer

Note: via net banking, if you click on "Learn More" it should take you to a page with similar to this. If it reverts back to standard offer of 70k points, make sure your ad blockers are disabled.

      • lol, turning off adblockers did the trick.

        Thank you very much!

    • use your mobile, you might need to make an account, maybe not.

  • Dumb question but to use the points do I need an Qantas account?

    • +1

Yes but don't pay any fees to join. Please scroll down middle of this (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/qantas.com.au) page and find any deal starting with "Free Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership…"

      • And I have to tell anz my Qantas account to get them to credit the points?

        • Yes.

        • During CC application you will be asked for QFF number.
