Good price for a high end PC but this uses a bit of power from the wall.. I think the RTX3070 non Ti at 220w is a better card

I like the 6600 over the 3050 for lower/mirage builds

    • -7

750w is probably borderline not enough dude especially if you want to stick more SSDs/HDDs in

      • +18

        750w is fine I ran 10700K OC and a 3090 no problems.

        • Whats it like to have a free space heater with your PC?

      • +6

You don't know what you're talking about

    • +4

Not sure why the power consumption argument makes the non-Ti card a better card…

      • +1

        Agreed

      • +6

I think the argument is that it the 3070 Ti is about 30% more power hungry (290W vs 220W) while only giving around 10% more performance. The better performance per Watt and the lower PSU requirement may make the 3070 the better option for some

        • +1

Yeah, I understand performance per watt but I don't understand why you'd bother using it to determine whether it's the "better" card.

At best, you're talking about an extra $2 in power usage per month.

          • +1

@wellzi: Yeah, the extra cost in electricity is going to make or break the deal but the upfront cost in choosing the Ti, higher wattage PSU and possibly need for better ventilation/cooling may make the 3070 the better option over the Ti counterpart.

I just remembered this was in the comments section of a pre-built. This advice is more relevant if you’re building your own PC

            • +2

@FireRunner: Yeah, I guess there are implications on the potential need for better cooling and a higher-spec PSU but I just don't accept the performance per watt argument when we're talking an extra $2 per month in power consumption at best on 70w. :)

              • +2

@wellzi: Oops, I meant the extra cost in electricity isn’t going to make or break the deal

          • @wellzi: it is better, in terms of power / performance

            • @oranglama: I'm sensing the sarcasm! But yeah, you're right, for that metric only. ;)

OP said it was the better card, period. That's where I disagree.

  • why are GPU prices dropping?

    • +12

Miners are not buying up bucket loads of GPU's anymore and gamers are not willing to pay inflated prices. Here in Australia anyways with higher energy prices the return on investment is low… US and UK/Europe will follow soon

Tech yes city sums it up well in this video > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUOWdlWZbPg

      • -1

        this is temporary

you have a windows of a couple of weeks to buy a GPU before prices hit new records

crypto bull is not over yet and the recent correction appears to be over, that means mining will return to profit and all available supply will be snapped up

out side of the next couple of week your next chance to buy a GPU at even better prices will be after the crypto bubble bursts in early (maybe mid) 2023

    • +2

Because the supply is here and people aren’t buying them for mining now as it’s unprofitable. Ebay second hand prices have also halved: 2070 super sold for around $1.2k secondhand in December 2021: now barely fetching $600, and that’s an unlocked card for mining lol. I’m regretting not flogging mine at peak and pocketing the cash and getting a new rig now

      • +2

Unfortunately if you sold at the peak, you'd have to buy at the peak! (unless you didn't need a GPU?) so no win haha. You did ok.

        • Yeah had a spare 970 lmao that would have driven the desktop for a while, oh well

        • +8

Wrong. Sell at peak, freeze yourself in cryochamber, wake up today and buy. No gaming time lost

        • Yep, I sold my 1080 ti strix for $780 and bought a 6800xt for 1.8k. Probably wouldn't have made much difference in holding till now. 1080 ti's will be difficult to sell now.

      • +1

Yeah, I sold my 2060 super for cheap last year, only $750, lol.

Plus side it was a noisy blower version and I sold it for cash to someone I knew on a local forum, no headaches. For $100 more got a new 3060ti at the time.

        • +3

What a time to be alive, I flogged so much old stuff, bought a Weber Q haha 😛

          • @DemocracyManifest: I actually found a 5700XT in the local council recycling bin. I think it was brand new (still had plastic caps on all the video ports) and worked fine. Paid for an iPhone.

The past 12 months were weird. I also made like $3k on crypto just via mining and using what I mined to buy new shitcoins that went through the roof for no reason.

      • +1

I’m regretting not flogging mine at peak

This is the problem with the peak, you never know you are there until it has passed.

  • +1

Based on this price I hope we can see something like a i5 12400 + 3060ti build come in around $1300-1400 from one of the companies soon.

    • Yep, hopefully this, now even at $999 on their other RTX3050 build doesn't look like a super good deal

  • +2

Best desktop PC build I've seen this year. Great value, will provide excellent performance for many years to come.

  • +1

Is there any way to disable the RGB fans? Or substitute for non-RGB? Cheers

    • +2

RGB fans can be turn off

      • Thanks!

    • +18

Why the bloody hell would u wanna do that bro the lights made the gfx card go faster

      • +20

Yeh believe me mate I know, asking for a mate who doesn't understand these things. Very basic guy.

      • If you are Torrenting etc overnight it’s probably not the best to advertise to the neighbourhood you have a fancy computer in your house haha

    • Not sure how these fans are setup, but mine have a cable to the motherboard for power 9and ability to change fan speed etc) and then a separate cable to the Addressable RGB pins on the motherboard. I imagine you could just unplug the RGB cable and leave the fan power cable connected.

Happy to hear others' thoughts on this as I haven't actually tried it myself.

      • Ah right. Assumed they're either on or off, separate cable would be handy!

    • Usually the reset switch is wired up to be RGB mode on/off

  • Which motherboard is in the 12700F system? A lot of cheap B660 motherboards can't even handle a 12600K properly without throttling the CPU so this is important to know.

  • What brand is the GPU likely to be?

    • GeForce RTX 3070 Ti OC 8GB Video Card (3 Fan Edition) (Gigabyte / MSI)

  • Noob question, Is this CPU better than the 5600X?

  • +6

Wheres the PC parts picker table guy? I can't make a decision until I see that table.

    • Was interesting that builders were posting the tables themselves when GPU prices were way out of whack, but they seem to have stopped now…

  • +1

Anybody buying build of this caliber should probably upgrade the PSU to 850 watts just to be future proof considering all the leaks on the next gen cards.

    • This build would only draw around 400w on average during gaming load though.

      • Yup, I wouldnt be worried about this build, just that people decide to upgrade to a 4080 or something.

        • I doubt 4080 would even need 850w

          • @oranglama: Leaks say card consumes 450 watts. Assuming rest of the system consumes 175Watts, it would be close to 750Watts limits. Its always safe to be slightly above that for better PSU component life and handle any transient spikes.

  • OOS?

    • Sorry, we only prepared 12 units of these…. didin't expected you guys went crazy…..

      • When do you think you'll add more, i missed out because i'm slow

        • +5

we need to finish all these build first, most likely in a week time

          • @momojuju: OK, so you guys already built all the units before selling? That's a very good service, now you can see TF & BPC deals are very aggressive, lots of Sydney buyers really want to see you can match similar builds, so we can come and do pickup directly, feel much safer than those terrible couriers. THX!

          • @momojuju: Will it be same price?

          • @momojuju: I realise it has only been 4 days, but does this ETA still hold?

Sorry, just trying to prep a friend who has been on the look out for pretty much these exact specs for a while.

I notice it is showing in stock on the link above again, however at $498 extra?

      • Thanks for the update, I was scrolling the comments for this information, looking to buy possibly within the next couple of weeks, so hopefully you have more available or similar units. Great to see builds with 12th gen intel’s coming out!

  • is this better than the techfast 3700ti build?

  • Anyone have thoughts if laptops are going to drop in price soon with GPUs becoming cheap as chips. Lol

    • +1

laptops are dropping as we speak, i cashed in on my desktop at peak and bought a 1000 dollar gaming laptop with a 1660ti in it, in the last month ive seen my laptop trading for 750 so its time for me to start building a new rig and sell me laptop

  • +2

Good value but might wait for DDR5/PCIe5… (2x next-gen)

  • Confused about the default case choice, how will 3 fans work against a front glass panel?

    • +1

there are two large air intakes in two sides of the front panel.
      more info at: https://global.deepcool.com/products/Cases/fulltowercases/Ma…

    • Real world answer: not very well. Have a look at some videos from Gamers Nexus case tests, the mesh front panels are consistently significantly better than setups like this. But they don't look as shiny

  • Can vouch for great service and super fast dispatch

  • Missed it. Ill keep an eye out for your next deals, won't even mind fighting traffic from Cronulla

  • Already received next day in Melbourne!!! amazing!
