Woolworths Chicken Kyiv Garlic $1.40 (Was $2.80) @ Woolworths

7981

R Ukraiving some processed chicken meat? No? Good. This is NATO good for you and you should eat organic chicken thigh fillets or breast instead.

Having said that, this deal is great because:

  • Woolies is virtue signalling and you can too by buying it and sharing the novelty deli sticker to your echo chamber of a social media account
  • It's half price but still has a decent profit margin because of the junk meat that is in it; gotta keep WOW shares pumping in the upcoming inflationary crash
  • Eating this will keep you demotivated to do anything else but browse more internet with all the soy and seed oils they are putin in this

No doubt the garlic filling was a result of the research coming out of the US funded biolabs scattered around eastern Europe. Mmm oily.

+1 for the attempt at humour. ;)

      Attempt?!?

I was Russian to upvote this; it was hilarious!

      • +13

“Attempt” was fair; definitely could do with some polish… specifically, well supported with some Polish vodka - (this deal might fly off the shelves)

        • +11

Comrades why do I only see three reports? Stop Stalin and each Bolshevik should be Lenin a hand and register more.

        • +2

The best you can do is Polish after companies were Russian to pull motherlands water from shelves

        • Admittedly, I had a chuckle, and it was pretty good.. ;)

        • +1

Donbass up an opportunity for a good vodka pun!

Nobody could be Dis-Putin this deal.

Did you know that you're 3 nationalities when you go to the toilet? First you're Russian, then European and then you're Finnish.

+1 for correct spelling of Kyiv

    • +9

I think the correct one is Киев… Мать городов русских

      • +5

        It's Ma'ame!!!

        • Why do you keep saying this? I don't understand what ma'ame means.

      • +2

        Or is it Київ?

      • Shto

      • +2

That is not correct, that is the Russian spelling. Київ is the correct Ukrainian spelling as pointed out by decc0.

    • +2

-1 for everyone (including Woolies) thinking Kyiv/Kiev is pronounced as (chicken) kiev…..

      It's not pronounced "kee-ev" , it's "Kee-yiv"

      • Who kee-yares

Why does JV get so much hate around here all the time? I mean, this comment is as funny as the OP.

      • +69

        Pointless bolding

      • +15

Why does JV get so much hate around here all the time?

        Russian hackers

      • +32

Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. JV proves you can also have too much of a bad thing. 90k posts on a bargain message board. It’s just a bit sad really.

        • +3

Why is it sad? His posts seems to make people happy because they are usually funny.

          • +7

@taatay: It’s 20 posts a day over a 13 year period of mostly spam. It’s a strange thing to dedicate a chunk of your life towards. This is just my opinion and I’m not going to try convince you if you think otherwise.

            • +2

@JelIyfish: It's a form of entertainment. Many people spend countless hours over many years playing video games. Many others would consider that sad too. Who care how people want to entertain themselves. What's really sad is how you come off sounding like you think your're better than everyone else.

        • +3

          Only 120 posts

The reason JV doesn't post is because who then will provide the unnecessarily bolded comment knowing they will be downvoted

          • @decc0: Says the person with 3 posts

            • @Mr Frodo: I've been a member since November with 3 posts. You've been a member for 7 years with 8 so I don't wanna hear it.

              • +1

@decc0: not a competition mate. You're the one attacking jv, not me

                • -3

@Mr Frodo: Oh I didn't realise you were volunteering to feel oppressed on behalf of an Ozbargainer that isn't a stranger to the banter.

Mr Oh So Righteous, please shut up and stop taking offence at everything.

        • +9

          Bullying is sad.

          • @loropy9: Yep…. JV is basically doing his/her own thing…. but the upvotes on ScJ's comment proves that bullying exists

        • +2

          no Lysander.. there's something sad..

    • +6

What if you Lviv for this shit

    • +2

Wait couple of month and Russians will be buying dog's food, thanks to Putin.

      • +2

I'm upvotes, just one addition. Australians pensioners and disabled people's are not far from that conditions as well. For last 10 years Government added them about $7. I just wondering how much our bureaucrats added to themselves?
I bet that there is no more that $5.

  • +5

The aldi (fresh) version is pretty good, I think it was breast meat too, not overly processed.

Will probably try this to see if it's edible

      • +3

It's a shame that you have so little respect for Ukrainian people and what they want.

          • -2

@[Deactivated]: Incoming negvotes from those who only give a shit about the lives the MSM has trained them to.

          • +7

@[Deactivated]: Are you referring to the people that fire missiles at airliners?

            • -5

@Punkboy: Are you labeling an entire ethnic group as responsible? I could easily blame you for the slaughters in Vietnam and the Middle East. Notice the double standards?

            • @Punkboy: No, he mentioned more than 10 000 innocent civilian people, among whom at least was 400 children. There was elderly people, pregnant women's. They deserves same condolences as other innocent Ukrainians, who now is struggling to have peace and save shelter.
Just moron as you can find it is a funny.
In Iraq such "people" as you tortured thousands innocent civilian to bringing them "democracy"
In Ukraine they killed, tortured, burned alive innocent Ukrainians, because they are was stupid enough to have different language, skin colour, different medical, religion or political opinions. Persons as you should be ready to get same for themselves and for their relatives in case if theirs opinion will be recognised as fascism. If you have short memory, find on internet what happened with yours ideology brothers in Germany in 1945 year.

              • +1

@simb24: What are you talking about? Are you saying I am a fascist that finds people being killed funny?? No idea where you are getting that from. Nothing about this conflict is funny. I find those that condone Russia's actions to destroy Ukraine and murder innocent people through comparing to the loss and suffering of other conflicts to be morally repugnant.

                • -1

@Punkboy: Really? If do know nothing about of more 10000 Ukrainians killed by fascists, why do you said that stupid joke that 400 killed children's is responsible for the "fire missiles at airliners"?
                  Who are you after that?

                  • -1

@simb24: That is no joke. It is a fact, unlike your lies sponsoring the Putin's invasion.

      • +10

I'm convinced you shared a generic half price deal just to fill it with your political views.

      • +5

Just went right off the deep end there didn't you champ

        • He went full grasspun; everyone knows you never go full grasspun!

    • We get these when on special, usually quite nice for the price & for something easy.

      • Agree, it comes up half price very regularly.

      • Better, worse or same as the frozen varieties?

        • +1

Don’t think I’ve had frozen ones, but they’re similar to the Ingham (or it is steggles?) 4 pack ones they sell.
Usually a little bit smaller per portion.

Basically a big nugget with a thick creamy/cheesy/garlic filling.

          • @NoDowt: Thanks, might give them a try. I've had the frozen Inghams and Steggles ones so was wondering. They're probably pretty similar.

    • Anything is edible at least once.

    • +2

Unfortunately these Woolies Kyivs are not the nicest. It’s a thin layer of highly processed chicken (think chicken nuggets), with a viscose cream based sauce inside. I’ve bought them once and won’t again. Nothing like a proper Kyiv where it’s stuffed piece of the chicken and beautiful herb and garlic butter pours out when you cut it open.

      • +2

I love crap food as much as the next bloke, but these make me feel quite ill and full of regret. I'm with you. Sworn off them after about 12 times before remembering.

        • +1

          Same as for a maccas

    • The frozen one is better, but have been scarce for a few months (and cheaper than Steggles).

  • +7

You DUMA head in with the crazy description, made me CRIMEA river

    • +14

…what did you say about my mum?

  • +3

I am offensive and I find this French.

  • +4

Interesting. I was at Woolies just yesterday, notice the Chicken Kiev on special, and wondered how long until they changed the spelling.

BTW, as "junk" food goes, its not that unhealthy.

  • -1

This goes quite well with Russian borsch it a hit. (Just Putin your leg).

  • +25

Went to Woolies to get some, was met with a 60km convoy of trolleys.

    • +4

Were they protesting to get Cheer to change back?

    • It's Ma'ame!!!

    • +4

      Ok

    • +11

No wings, just chicken and garlic ;)

      • +4

That's the worst Dad-joke I've heard all week. And don't take it wrong - as a Dad, I admire you.

      • +3

No wings because has the potential to be a no-fly zone.

      • use to work in fcmg and did this product and most of ww/coles own brand of products and the fast food restaurants…nothing wrong with the meat, whether its beef or here mainly chicken breasts, if it comes out underweight they dont increase the meat in production, they increase stuff like the garlic/butter/batter mix in the next batch till its correct weight, every batch which is about 1tonne gets measured and weigh by quality control people…

    • +4

There's situations where attacking motive is questionable.

"We're selling highly processed crap and slapping a place where a tonne of people are dying on it with absolutely no benefit to that place" is not one of those situations.

    • -3

Wow! Such hatred. Not expected, as I really meant what I said, trying to be conciliatory. Am I being hated by the far-left or far-right? I really cannot tell.

      • Just gotta manage your expectations I guess

    • +1

I agree, Manic. It's just yet another boring new word/phrase that millennials have invented. Everyone will forget about it in a few years though, when they realise that it's just a buzz-word.
