    • didn't work for me. Error "Password reset not available for the customer"

  • I've tried multiple ISPs browsers and even devices, and I can never sign up online with Origin. I gave up on the previous deal because I found out about it too late. Chat was completely useless. I'll have to try calling.

  • Currently with the recently posted MORE telecom 250/25 service and unsure whether to switch to this 1000/50 completely or just add a second connection as I would like to go back to MORE as that's long term discount. Any suggestions?

  • Can you choose activation date?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Sweet

  • I've been down 1.5h and just called Origin. They said it can be 4-6 hours up to 24h for transfers. I am coming from ABB HFC. Was expecting 20-40 min tops from other comments here. First time churner.

    • +2

HFC Optus to Origin - took around 25mins for me

      • Finally online after 5 hours. Had to reset the Google Wifi mesh network and start all over again before WiFi worked. Ethernet wasn't even working. Now re-setting up all of the Wifi mesh nodes. Thankfully I was able to re-use the same SSID. Speeds are very fast about 500/40 on the 1000/50 plan.

      • Same on HFC, using sagemcom f@ast3864 ..What your speed like. Mine is like Download 20mbps & upload 17mbps on 100 plan, which is wack.

        • +1

I'm using Arris NTD and Nest Wifi. Speeds are great as above around 400-500Mbit down and 40 up. Happy going from 100/20. After 2 months I will downgrade most likely as it's a big price jump even with $10 discount as an Origin customer.

          • @slankets: Ok nice. Yea after 2, 3month I’ll switch I reckon, but to what. Something reliable & at good price

  • Superloop to Origin

Put order before went to sleep., woke up and connected to origin - Aussie bb

    Fttc

Superloop send me text message asking if I have changed reply yes to cancel their service.!

Received confirmation that Superloop service canceled and received mail and text that I have been connected to Aussie bb.

    Hip hip hurray.!

  • Well I just signed up, although I am not very comfortable of this…

        thx mate

so basically if we are already on Aussie then its essentially a disconnection and a brand new connection (evident from My Aussie App)

ppl chruning from other than Aussie shud churn in max 1hr approx

  • I'm about to move into my house, if I sign up for the 2 months free and churn away a week before the end of 2 months will there be no charge?

  • +1

I have transferred over - im on NBN HFC, using sagemcom f@ast3864 router - Download 20mbps(between 15 to 27) & upload 17mbps on 100 plan, which is wack. Did a router reset & still same

  • +2

doesn't sound right did you power cycle the Arris NTD?

    • Yup I did, just did it again now. Unplugged the NBN box & turned off router, left off for more than 1 min & than restarted & connected. Was getting 40-50 download before with Optus.

      • +2

I'd call them, something isn't right

Thanks. Third month of free 100mbps
    internet ( abb 1 month + origin 2 month).

  • +2

I signed up at 8AM this morning.
Just received a text saying the service is activated

  • Did anyone try to churn from ABB HFC to this offer? How long was your down time?

    • 5 hours

  • Anyone having issues with config of router? I have a Deco M5

  • For those with ABB currently, how do you time your churn? Just before your next direct debit? What's the go with pro-rate

    • +2

They will refund pro-rata. So I just did it immediately. 2 weeks to refund.

  • Got Origin connected and can confirm via support they most definitely can't disable CGNAT and during the beginning of crossing over to Aussie Broadband white label service allowed some customers to disable or opt out of CGNAT.

  • +2

The monthly cost for 1000/50 is $154 so if the promo 2 months FREE is applied, the saving should be $308, shouldn't it?
unless you bundle it with the energy then the saving is $288.

  • Was on Launtel 400mb fttp when I signed up to this a few hours ago.

Was hoping Origin would activate on a separate port but when I called to follow up was told there was an existing gigabit service preventing the Origin service from going through.

Origin rep was rude and not helpful so I jumped on Launtel to cancel my service. Called Origin back, spoke to a different more helpful rep who said Origin could have just taken the existing service over instead of the cancellation. Instead Origin have to wait for the Launtel cancellation so the new order can be submitted. So I may be without NBN for up to 48h.

Pretty poor experience with the first Origin rep and I now could be without any service for who knows how long.

    • isn't it just an ABB rep trained to also do Origin?

      • +1

I dont think so, as I rang both orgin and aussie in the span of couple of hours. the origin dude is bit on high.

    • +1

Launtel can connect in 15-20 mins if you need it back. I was on the same plan and switching to the 1000/50.

I got a call and they said they couldn't connect because I already had a high speed connection. I told them I couldn't lose internet because I need it for work, could I drop my current one to 100/40, they connect and then I'll cancel my existing service. They said this is fine. The other option is to have origin connect on 100mb service, then once you've cancelled/dropped your other service you can get Origin to up the speed.

So if anyone has this problem the easiest way to do it is drop the launtel to 100/40, takes about 15mins to update.
Origin can then connect the 1000/50 on a different port
Once origin is connected you can pause the Launtel service.

Disclaimer: My origin service is not connected yet, but I have finally got the step 2 email and it states the correct port.

      • Yep that is the best approach for people on existing speeds above 250mb.

My service is now active with Origin after the Launtel cancellation.

Still a poor experience with that first Origin/ABB rep though who was rude and dismissive. Launtel remains the benchmark for great client service.

      • +1

My service is connected. The speed is inconsistent (50-450, mostly around 100) and don't know if I'll stay with them even if it's free. Launtel was always 250-300, on the 400 plan. I regularly do speed tests. Same router, same device, all I did was move the network cable across and restart. I actually get faster speeds on the 100mb plan on Launtel (107). I'll try pausing the Launtel service and see how things play out for up to a week, depending on how bad it is.

I didn't really pay much attention before I signed up, but I was having issues with the speeds on ABB which is why I switched to Launtel. I think this deal might not be for me.

        • Max I’m getting is 380. But same goes, every speed test I run it varies from 100-300. I called origin and they reckon it’s the Deco m5.

I was with TPG previous and getting 250 consistently on that plan

          • @finremo21: Mine's around 200 now on the Origin 1000/50. It's good enough for $0.

          • @finremo21: Deco M5 is capable of around 850Mbps wired Ethernet and up to around 460Mbps on Wi-Fi 5.

  • Bit the bullet (don't know what bullet I'm biting as it's going to be free). Hopefully, I can cancel superloop easily. Wonder if I can do the process over messenger chat. Last time I asked for $5 off they referred me to their call centre.

    • How did it go with sl cancellation?

      • Didn't go through with it. We use IPTV that we pay a company for. Origin failed that (don't know if it's them or Aussie -maybe they don't have access to 100% of Aussies network or CVC ratios or different idk). It would stop streaming every few minutes. It did pass the speed test https://ovhus1.uyanik.tv/speedtest/

But now I know not to rely on that. So back to SL.

  • Trying to reset password through ABB website and getting error message "Password reset not available for the user"

    • do forgot username first (should be obb-….)
then forgot password once you know username. worked for me.

      • Yes I have done the first step, can't get pass the password reset step.

        • Same issue here.

      • Can you add on $5 static IP in the ABB portal?

        • yes

          • @Irishness: Did you connect your router to Origin service before requesting password reset?

            • +1

@Futura: yes my service was already up and running

          • @Irishness: Can you try add it to see if it actually provides you a static IP? This would be a good value workaround if it works!

            • @reece8: it's an extra $5 per month it gives me the option to add immediately or add at next billing cycle

              • @Irishness: Cool, so it looks like Origin users can get around the cgnat issue by applying for this $5 monthly static IP by first signing into to the ABB portal? Is this a hack not designed for Origin users?

                • @reece8: I'm not sure, I assume ABB will just assign the fixed ip and charge the $5, it was discussed over on whirlpool and yes the way around cgnat

                  • @Irishness: Got it, can anybody else on Origin clarify this static IP option is available to them for $5 per month via the ABB portal (if they can sign in)? I'm surprised their call centre staff doesn't offer this up as a solution for those not wanting to be put behind a cgnat.

                      • @Irishness: Perfect looks straightforward, just to confirm, you're with Origin yea?

                        • @reece8: yes switched over on Tuesday

                          • @Irishness: Ok too easy, I've just signed up and scheduled to connect next Mon. I went to the ABB forgot username portal and found my username obb-LIE9***** but then proceeded to resetting password via Forgot your Password but it's saying 'Password Reset Not Available for this user' - what did you do different? :P How did you type in your username syntax wise?

              • @Irishness: I still can't access the ABB portal using the obb username, I try do a password reset and keep getting the error "Password reset not available for the user"

                • +1

@Futura: what happens if you try a forgot username again? it all worked fine for me so no idea

                  • @Irishness: Forgot username works, that's how I got my obb username to try do a password reset on.

                    • @Futura: I understand that but do you get the same username if you do it again?

                      • @Irishness: Yup same username! I tried via the customer number and personal details.

                        • +2

@Futura: yeah not sure why, maybe call abb ask them to reset your password & give them the username?

                          • @Irishness: Maybe they realised Origin folks were doing the ABB portal login thing and shut it down and those who did it early are fine before they shut it down from password resets?

                            • @slankets: yeah that's quite possible, though some have setup an origin portal and can see plan details whereas mine is blank, can see everything in the ABB portal

        • I contacted support via their online form / emails Nd they offered to place me on ipv6

  • Can someone point me in the direction of my credentials? I opened an account with my mobile number but its asking me to contact support. Was I meant to get an email with a username + password?

    • +1

yes you should receive an email confirmation then further emails

      • I have step 1 2 3. Only an account number though.

        • +1

yes account number is all you need, there is no username and password, you can unofficially create one for the ABB portal though

          • @Irishness: How do I manage my plan? Tied to the mobile number? I didn't see a place to log on with just that. I created a new account and suspect I need to get in touch with support to link them.

Don't tell me they don't provide a dashboard or anything?

            • @Hahuh: I've previously posted instructions on how to setup access to the abb portal, all you will need is your account number

              • @Irishness: Tried that (doesn't work) but I'm asking on the origin page.

  • Tried plugging into assigned UNI-D port but not getting an IP, will have to call support, 30 minute wait time, thank god for Google Hold for Me feature. Currently with ABB whom I am able to get an IP with.

  • +1

Got an email that their wordings was incorrect and first 2 months are free or something to that effect

  • Is anyone able to do a password reset via the ABB portal using the obb username?

  • Got an email quoted incorrect service address but correct postal address. I had to spent half an hour to solve it even had an tele conference with aussiebb and origin energy staff. Be aware guys - as when I requested to change address, they had to cancel the existing "incorrect" service and create another fresh order. The lady tried to persuade me to sign up their energy plan saying without that she was not able to offer the two months free! She explained if I get two month free then there will not any other offer after two months e.g. $10 off etc. It does not make sense as two months free is ~$200 savings which equivalent to 20 months of $10off offer.

Anyway, I read the email to her and finally, it got solved. I felt this is not the end and we will see what will happen next. Maybe that is how it works when you sign up NBN internet plan with engery company.

  • +2

I activated 1000Mbps plan but download speed marks around 150 only.
Technical support guy gave up.. I am missing ABB

    • +2

They're the same people, as Origin is a white label Aussie Broadband service. I was able to deal with same agent for a ABB service and Origin.

  • With new sign ups (property is NBN ready but no active ISP), is there a connection fee? On the fees and charges page, there is a "nbn™ New Development Fee" of $300. It seems most people are switching but not sure if those who signed up as a new connection can shed some light?

    • +1

Has there ever been NBN? If it's a new property and is now NBN ready, then you have to pay the fee regardless of who you sign up with.

      • There was NBN used previously but the service has been disconnected. So not sure if this counts as a new connection which would cop the connection fees which seem huge.

        • +3

No, that's fine then. You won't have to pay it.

  • +2

Transferred from Aussie BB HFC to Origin HFC yesterday afternoon @ 5pm. Downtime was 2 hours (better than I was expecting). Unable to log into Aussie Broadband Portal - after getting my username, the password reset fails with "Password reset not available for the user". Very sad, I wanted to apply the static IP.
Using a $5p/m Vultr VPS with WireGuard <-> to RaspberryPi to workaround CGNAT for now.

If anyone knows a fix for the "Password reset not available for the user" issue, I'd love to know.

    • Glad it's not just me getting that error message

  • Not that I'll be sticking around to find out, but in the email they sent me it said:

    "Total monthly cost

Your first 2 months are free.

After your discount expires, your total monthly cost will be $154"

So "saving" $308? The $10/mo difference is the energy combination discount. That's with no addons like phone or static IP. Just the baseline internet.

    • Fixed the title. Thanks

  • Thanks OP.
Signed up with later activation date. So far so good.

  • I've signed on with ABB but for a later activation date. If I "cancel" ABB now and sign on for this would ABB still recognise me as a "customer" and will need to serve waiting period before getting their free month?

    • You'd be better off doing ABB first, then ordering this to start after ABB ends. That way you can be new again sooner, and get more free.

      • Thanks, unfortunately can't go further than 1/4 for Origin. I'm only activating ABB on 20/3 so was looking to pre-order for 20/4 but think I'm out of luck here.

  • Wonder if Origin activates connections on a Sunday? Signed up at 7am aedst this morning and only have the welcome email so far.
