has those old school pc shop vibe like back in the 90s.
Their web page has a 90's feel to it as well.
Microsoft FrontPage 97, at your service.
anyone here remember fluidtek?
Oh yeah, and it's eccentric owner Eddie.
I loved Eddie
Is he still around?
@TheCandyMan2020: I think he has become Jesus the second coming XD
@edfoo: Pretty sure he was Islamic, not Christian.
Anyway I know some people really disliked him but I loved him.
I found him to be honest - sometimes brutally honest.
He certainly was an individual and I appreciated that….
@TheCandyMan2020: A muslim with the name Eddie. Interesting.
Anyway the reason I said Jesus because he didn't look very old and had long hair and long beard.
I don't know why but their webpage still exists. With the stock listed from when they closed - http://www.fluidtek.com.au/index.htm
I mean who wants a 3080 when you can pick up a GTX 295 for just $999???
Wow! That website is like a time capsule!
So at least for sydney buyers, you can go pickup directly.
I don't live in Sydney any longer, but I remember 30 odd years ago there was a Carlingford Computers tucked in behind the shops at that main intersection…. behind a very popular Italian restaurant (that I can't remember the name of). I initially thought this was the shop, but reading their "about us" they've only been around since 2000. I could have sworn the PC shop I'm thinking of was older than that.
I also remember there was a North Rocks Computer Fair at the North Rocks shops that all the geeks would go to on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Is this still going?
Any locals able to fill in the gaps for me?
I think this store is in Carlingford Village, a small shopping centre which is the mostly Asian counterpart to Carlingford Court. I hardly see the store open when I'm in the area and frankly was surprised it was still open when I saw this deal. Though no clue about the Carlingford Computers you're referring to (I'm probably far too young).
I also remember the computer fair opposite the (once) North Rocks Westfield but I believe it hasn't been running for years, sadly.
I just been to this store CCPU yesterday, its in Carlingford Village, the old shopping centre, 2 blocks away from the Carlingford Court.
Yeah the markets moved yonks ago to a high school very close to the Westfield's (which also stopped being a Westfield's quite a few years ago).
I did go to the high school a couple of times, think it was mid '00s
cheers
La botte?
that's it!!!!
LaBotte!!!! Thanks mate :)
They are great shop. I been getting stuff from them for nearly 18 years now
Is this a better card for $1883? It is a 10GB model thou: Asus TUF 3080 OC
https://www.skycomp.com.au/asus-geforce-rtx-3080-tuf-gaming-…
No, 10gb model was $1678 few days ago from same seller Skycomp. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/685449
$200+ for different brand is just gimmicky.
The 12GB cards are faster, they sit between the RTX 3080 10GB and the RTX 3080 Ti in terms of performance.
So no, the 10GB card for more money is not better at all.
They have ok deals of late. Local to my parents so been there over 20 years. Maybe closer to 30
Oh, that shopfront in Carlingford Village; always walking past it whenever I shop there.
