This is the best bang for buck M.2 out there. Only just behind the Samsung. For heavy workloads and multitasking its top notch. Burst speeds are fantastic even transferring a 4K 12gb file to a 3.5 HDD at 2gb/s. This is also while doing multiple other heavy tasks at the same time. Yes it is also a top pick for PS5 drive

  • Fantastic performance stats!

I bought it for $189 couple of days back :’(

    • Same :'(

    • Same here, pulled the trigger 2 early. : (

Are there any particularly favoured enclosures to pair this with to make an external HDD? Thinking this could be good for a Mac mini

  • How's it's power consumption?

    • +2

Why you need to worry about ssd power consumption

      • Laptop usage?

        • -1

I didn't know laptop users have limitation on the power draw

        • I would be more concerned about the fact that this is a double sided M.2. SSD more so than the power draw. Fitment will likely be more of an issue.

          • @Tuttorix: A few watts difference in power draw is quite a significant difference in a lower power draw laptop because it could single-handedly increase idle / low usage power by like 10%. Physical compatibility (double/single sided) is important too of course.

          • -2

            @Tuttorix: Its single sided

          • @Tuttorix: Good point. I was about to get one to upgrade my Asus Laptop and did not think I would have issues until you mentioned it was double sided. I need to find out if this will fit an model Asus F51EA

  • Do you need a fairly recent motherboard to get the 7000mb write/read speeds? I have a M.2 slot but an older MB (B450M PRO-M2 MAX).

    • +1

b450 usually have pcie3x4, so you'll be limited to 4000-3500mb, but tbh won't be noticeable at all

    • +1

B450M series only supports PCIe Gen 3, so would top out at like 4000MB/s

      Thanks for the info!

I bought a 2tb Samsung 990 Pro SSD with heatsink last October from JB HiFi for $211. This week I wanted a couple more 2tb ones, when I saw this deal for the Kingston Fury Renegade posted a couple of days ago I almost bought 2, but I’m glad I didn’t because today I was able to pick up another 2 of the 2tb Samsung 990 Pro with heatsink SSDs for $225 each from JB HiFi.

    • How did you get them so discounted? They're listed at $389

      • +1

@ kdsauer & Tuttorix, The first Samsung 2tb 990 Pro with heatsink I bought from JB HiFi in October last year they price matched Digidirect through Catch.com.au who had local Australian stock showing as being on special/sale for the listed price of $233, with a cross through the original $390 RRP, it was that price for 1 day only from Digidirect on Catch. JB HiFi also had a $30 off if you spent $300 perks promo running on the same day, so I used that on top which reduced the SSD down to $211.97.

Same thing happened yesterday, I noticed a local retailer I had never heard of before had the 2tb Samsung 990 Pro with heatsink on their website and their price was showing as $244.80. I showed it to the staff at JB and they decided to match it and further reduce the price from $244.80 each to $240 each, and the $30 off if you spend over $300 perks promo is back on at the moment so used that to take the price of each down to $225.

The reason I bought 3 is I have 3 PS5 consoles, one is a Pro model.

    • I am also confused, how did you get them for that price?

      • See above for the answer.

  • any recomendations for a heatsink for the ps5 slim?
