What would 100k points be equivalent to ?

    • +2

Just under $500 in gift cards

  • Strange that it's not listed but i believe Citi have introduced an 8 month exclusion period for churners who like to open and close them.

    • +1

Where did you see that? Also if it's not listed does that mean they can't enforce it?

      • +1

It doesn't come up in the T's&C's but from previous cards they subtlely introduced it when i asked if there was an exclusion period.
Could try your luck given they're being slack about updating their T's & C's

        • +1

Yeah kind of strange that they introduce it but omit it from their T&Cs

    • 'but i believe Citi have introduced an 8 month exclusion period for churners ' This is not true.

New Citi account within 3 months of churning my previous one.

      I average 3 Citi churns a year.

      • -1

Previously I had been doing one every 5 months up until August last year. Last time I did just ask and they said 8 months was going to start being enforced

    • +1

8 month is surprisingly good, everyone else is 12 months.

    • I hope it's not the case - used to churn 3/4 times in a year..
I wonder if the NAB acquisition of Citi credit card division may have something to do with it.

Anyone got any further comments / experience from Citi?

      • got my wife to apply (had a Citi credit card within 8 months) and spoke to a rep - who advised there is no exclusion period. Still possible the new rule may not have been communicated (especially if it's not even mentioned in the T&C)

    • Does that only apply to Citi cards or it includes other cards that from different providers but issued by Citi e.g. Coles, Kogan etc.?

  • This one seems a little bit of better value https://www1.citibank.com.au/credit-cards/citi-premier-qanta… to use your 'churn' slot? Though it has high annual fee but still better value?

    • +1

also 175 first year annual fee

    • $175 annual fee first year and each subsequent year when you spend $48,000 on eligible purchases and cash advances in the previous year, otherwise $350. That $48,000.00 :D

      • but no true OZBer will go beyond the first year right :) ?

        • Yes, not sure if the 75,000 Reward Points for 2nd Year is of interest to us OzB's

    • contemplating on this vs the citi premier qantas.

Have been rejected by Citibank twice in the past, so abit scarred . Not so sure why.

      Should I risked it?

      Tempted by citi payall functionality.

  • Usual Citi exclusions apply, they like to try and exclude council, rego, parking, ato, public transport etc

  • i thought citi were about to sell their banking/credit card business in australia

    • Citi has sold their clients to NAB as of last year, it is expected for the deal to be finalised in March 2022. No word yet of whether the perks of the credit card will remain.

  • I had a Virgin Velocity Credit Card and closed the account in Nov 21. It's backed by Citibank. Would that make me ineligible even though not directly from Citi but in Credit Report comes as Citibank?

    • +1

      Nope

every month until 31 January 2022

    Cool

  • would bpay via beem it counts towards eligible spend?

    • +1

Usually only eligible purchases would earn points: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/10892567/redir, so I guess that beem it would be eligible.

      Also from t&c:

Eligible purchases exclude Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, interest, fees, refunds, Chargebacks and spend on a Linked Diners Club Card.

If I earn $72k excluding super but ~$80k inclusive does that mean I qualify?

  • What if you have a mortgage account with citibank? do you need to pay additional fees for this card

  • What are the odds of a non-permanent resident (485 visa) getting approved for this card? Would a lower credit limit card be more likely.

    • Check their T&Cs if they allow for vida holders.
Unless your visa has long expiry date - may be +3yr, then may be.
