omg! how have i managed to survive all these years without a tooth brush sanitizer??!!!

you should be more worried about touching your keyboard or a shopping trolley or a door knob or a bus seat lol

    • Yes, that's what I'm thinking too. The battery will cop a flogging running the light for 12 mins after each brush. And besides that, how do you tell when the battery is flat, or going flat? Perhaps a high-power microscope to search for nasties?

    • To be fair you (should) wash your hands after touching those things and I certainly don't put them in my mouth.

I agree that you should wash your hands after touching some things. But all these people that carry hand sanitisers and baby wipes everywhere make me laugh. Sanitise away and reduce your natural defenses against germs and diseases. Is your keyboard really that disgusting? :)

        • y? in some ways those sanitisers can be very useful (though i dont carry them around)
a substitute for hand washing in situations when its inconvenient/impossible to wash ur hands before handling food(hopefully just ur own food!)
          eg. a picnic maybe… lol

        • Sure there would be some situations where they are useful. I'm more referring to the paranoid people that use them religiously rather than appropriately. Kids (and everyone) need to build some level of natural defence rather than relying almost solely on man-made intervention. Same goes to some extent for medications (obviously not referring to serious and life-threatening conditions).

        • This is such a stupid way of thinking. You can only develop a "defense" against viruses not bacteria and viruses are continually evolving. Plus with the revolving door of our borders new viruses are continually being introduced.

Unless you plan on catching every single virus, and continuing to do so, the only "defense" your body has is avoiding infection and a healthy diet.

        • i seem to recall that the immune system needs to be continually simulated. kids that grow up in too sterile environments turn out to suffer more problems later on in life due to poorer immune system. too responsive immune system = allergies, too unresponsive immune system = get sick a lot.

        • Living a normal life whilst making sure you have clean hands isn't a "sterile environment". It's called being hygienic. Your body will still be faced with airborne pathogens.

    • Seeing the cockroaches on the tooth brushs at night has never sat well with me.

and with this device they will be scampering to get onto your toothbrush so that they can sunbake in the UV light!

Mythbusters did a segment where they compared leaving toothbrushes on the toilet, and brushed with them everyday, against one kept in a sealed container, taken out to brush everyday (for a month).

There was no difference in the bacteria on the toothbrushes.

While mythbusters isn't the gospel, it's enough to convince me this is a waste of 7.95, as opposed to a bargain.

Up to 99.9% of bacteria are killed off. The remaining 0.01% are the hardiest bacteria free to live on and pass their genetic information to future generations.

    • Damn, I was about to say something along those lines but you seem to have captured the gist of it.
Super toothbrush bacteria here we come!

    • but that kinda only makes them UV Resistant bunch, not super bugs i guess
though i don't see the need for this crap

  • why must it be battery powered? sell a high powered (wall plug) version that will blast 99.99% of bacteria within 10 seconds then ill be interested

    • there must be some old tanning booths you can pick up on the cheap. why stop with just a tooth brush. pop in the toilet seat as well. hell jump in yourself. get rid of those pesky head lice that have been driving you mad for the last month. put the cat & dog in - no more flea power or washes to worry about. nuke everything in the house just for good measure.
