      If the car thief has an iOS device they will get a notification that an Airtag that doesn’t belong to them is following them, with an option to disable it. This is an anti-stalker mechanism.

        That's true, but it takes some time for this to happen. Most people would realise their car is missing quite quickly. Also even with the beep, it could be very difficult locating a well hidden one in a car. I know that in my car, its awfully hard to tell where the beeping is coming from, and even if you could track the general area down, its well hidden enough that a thief would probably just ditch the car.

          I believe it just generates a prompt on their phone while allows them to disable it from there.

            @Hargain Bunter: No it just allows them the play a sound to locate the tag, then runs them through how to remove the battery.

            The best thing to do if tracking a car is delete the speaker and hide it really well.

    We put them on our dogs’ collars with a silicon holder.

    One thing to note is that a U1 chip is needed (iPhone 11 and 12) for precision tracking.

      people believe when their shit is stolen that ios users will lead them to their stolen goods.

      in reality if they notify the user (thief) they are being tracked, this device will lead someone to a creek somewhere, where their device will be located in a bush
