I purchased this for $849 in August last year.
It was the Ryzen 5 4500u with only 8gb of RAM and a 256Gb SSD. I've since added another stick of RAM. I've been quite happy with it and it's cool that it now comes with 2x RAM and 2x SSD and higher spec CPU for just $15 more.
While I agree with many sentiments that it's not the brightest screen, it's also a perfectly serviceable laptop with pretty good performance for less than $900. I reckon I'm getting pretty decent value for money.
I will also echo previous statements that I don't even have it at full brightness 99% of the time. Also, disabling the AMD auto brightness setting made a huge difference in perceived brightness. Caveat is I hardly ever use my laptop outdoors. But I use it mainly in a spot with many large windows and sun comes in pretty well, and I can see it and use just fine.
E14Gen2 also has both top and bottom with aluminium cover whereas E15Gen2 has plastic at the bottom.
Why e15 price big gap? I’m after inclu right hand number pad only 15inch
There are no E15 AMD options anyway.

Dell Inspiron is treated as entry level product. Chassis is a much lower quality. The Thinkpad is treated as business grade quality. I7 CPU is also slower than the AMD Ryzen R5 5500u. The i7 is only a Quadcore vs a Hexacore of the R5
I7 only scores 10000 vs 13000 of the R5 in Passmark.

@trippyskippy: I had no issues returning a Dell laptop with overheating issues last year for a full refund. Just call their support centre in SE Asia, and possibly tech support in India if you opened up the packaging.

I called them this morning and they said it has been shipped out last week, but they will stop the shipment and refund me.

If you aren't going outside, wouldn't a desktop computer be better a choice using that $800.
If you want to stick to one room/location, yes I guess.
Unless you want to drag your desktop from the study to the kitchen to cook dinner and then have it sitting in your lap while you eat dinner, a laptop may have some advantages for some people.

Pretty sure it is a spare AC adapter. Some people like to buy a spare one to leave in the office so they don't have to carry it around with them.

For this E14 model, the Ryzen 5 has onsite warranty, Ryzen 7 has depot warranty.
Does anyone know if entering a Rep ID will affect cashrewards cashback?

The i7 will heat throttle. You can get a 256gb ssd version with an i5 for $988 from officeworks. Oh my bad, it sold out*. The yoga's have poor heat management though.

I forgot to mention the Yoga is thinner, lighter, and has a better screen that's 100% colour accurate and 300nits bright vs this thinkpad with 60% colour accuracy 250 nits bright. Won't really be a big deal unless you're outdoors a lot/in bright rooms and are photo-editing.

@jamestownfx: No problem! I have had the same canumdrum and am also leaning towards the thinkpad. It's ridcolous value for what it is, you can always replace the screen on if you do decide you need a 100% rgb screen later on.

Great laptops for the price. Have 7 at my workplace and all the staff are very happy with them. Ordered 8 more of the 4700u models (before they ran out of stock) through our business portal for $950 including 2 years onsite and battery warranty (onsite warranty is a must for us).
So that's why it ran out of stock! lol
You don't need to order from the business portal, you can just order from the public site and get the same discounted premium onsite warranty.

In my experience very unlikely. When they didn't honour one of my tracked cashbacks I just got a canned response from them denying liability due to the problem being with the merchant.
Yep, got a response claiming that the deal wasn't eligible for the cashback. Dunno why I even bother with Cashrewards or Shopback any more
I've never had anything fail to track - but I use a dedicated browser for CashRewards with zero ad block and all privacy controls turned off.
You can't just use your normal browser with 746 blocking technologies 👍
