PayPal Top Customers Offers - Jan 2012

330

Don't think it's as exclusive as it sounds, but received an email for Paypal's Exclusive To Top Customers offer. From their campaign name, their marketing team is starting to make me feel guilty for spending way too much. Anyway, the January round of offers:

I know a couple of the deals above have probably been submitted separately, but I'm consolidating them here anyway along with all the other PayPal deals to reduce further duplicates.

I wonder what SSD it uses. I do like that the 4GB ram is just one stick shame the screens not 15".

        • I can be almsot 100% certain that the one above (officeworks) uses a Intel Gen 2 120GB SSD.
I brought the same model from MSY.

        • +1

I have this laptop, it has a 120gb intel x-25m ssd. MLN have the same laptop for $749 after the $99 cashback which isn't available with officeworks.

        • +1

Yes, MLN does have the same spec'd model for $748 however unlike officeworks it only has 2yrs warranty vs the 3 you get at OW.

Although I'm not sure if that warrants the additional $111….

  • Also when do the deals finish?

    • The end dates are written for each vendor on the table.

  • I like how the Toshiba states "All day battery life" somehow I highly doubt that unless they mean when it's on standby. :D

I've giving you a +vote just because your're special. lol
What they're really saying is, "come in sucker!!" - yep, they know you can't resist a bargain. lol

    Some good buys there.

  • How do you become a top customer?

    • +4

Spend WAY too much money on Paypal…
You also get priority phone number to call…
Plus they trust you, that little bit more.

Paypal is a rort for sellers. I'm tempted to neg the deal on principle, but I won't.

    • I think its just the amount of transactions. I got the email too but i don't exactly push much money through paypal.

      • +2

I think its just the amount of transactions.

This is most likely the case. Honestly I think it's just a marketing gimmick and probably easily achievable with all the meritline deals anyway.

  • That Toshiba from Officeworks is pretty cool for a netbook. Really good price. Has Harmon Kardon speakers, so they sound better than the Dell full-sized laptop that I have, and also has HDMI out. Great for taking movies on holiday. If anyone is thinking of getting a netbook, I'd get this one.

Edited to say, bought this for a friend just before xmas, cost was $339 or so.

    • NO MORE TOSHIBA netbooks at OW

  • Is the 1gb RAM limit in netbooks a deliberate ploy to make them useless?

    • +6

Back in my day we only had 64k as standard and we were very productive.

    • the AMD C-50 processor on the Toshiba netbook can handle 2GB RAM.

    • +2

I believe it was an agreement to get cheap Windows licences…
      Useless computers deserve cheap Windows.

      • I have this netbook with 4GB of RAM. I needed to upgrade to a 64bit version of Windows 7 for it to recognise the full 4GB. If you put 4GB in under Windows 7 Starter, it will only recognise 2GB. If you upgrade to another 32 bit version of windows i.e. premium/pro/ultimate, it will recognise 3.6GB of RAM.

I'd recommend this netbook to anyone. I can't fault it aside from the battery life. If you want a long battery life, buy an eeePC. I prefer the graphics, keyboard, speakers and output ports of this over the eeePC.

        @ cooni

I also heard this. Apparently if they put in 2GB RAM microsoft doesn't class it as a netbook so it's ineligible for windows 7 starter edition. Or something along those lines

        • That's correct. That's how they keep the price down on these machines.

  • Here is a review of the Toshiba netbook:

Pity i got banned from PayPal for no ******* reason, and they refuse to tell me why.

  • paypal-australia.com.au ———- is this legit? Not using the usual domain.

    • Land Of Smeg :
      It's legitimate.
If you go to the right hand side of the site it even has a box "Worried this is a spoof website?" and says you can type in paypal.com.au to get there too. The
-australia bit is accessed from visiting the "PERSONAL" section of paypal.com.au

  • Off Your Trolley similar price to grocery run but less items lol

  • I noticed that the acer is in a section called "Hidden" in the URL of OW website.

I deleted the ending and pointed directly to

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Hidden/

And found a telefunken 42" plasma for $198 (out of stock)

Never knew there was a hidden section in OW!
