I usually get the Explorer/Outdoors card and use it at Ampol via Google Wallet.

  • Thanks. Received on my Plat Charge. Not on any of the others

    • I got nothing

Good one. I buy the Tech GC which I use to buy the Apple Gift Card.

  • I've never been able to take advantage of these offers because their payment system refuses to accept any of my cards (and their support won't do anything about it).

  • Thanks!
Got it on Velocity Escape but not on QF Discovery.

  • Anyone tried the DIY card to get 10% off at Bunnings?

    • +3

Yep. Works great. The DIY card is my go to card as it is hard to find Bunnings discounted gift card.

Last Special Gift card deal people were commenting that the Tech Head card did not work with the discount portals for Woolworths gift cards. Anyone tried recently?

  • Has anyone recently got bonus points for adding additional cardholders? The offer isn't active, so worth asking them or not

    • Under the offer terms is shows:
"Additional Cards are not eligible for this offer."

    Your card has been declined…
Special.com.au doesn't seem to like my amex!

But at least now they have my details.

    • You've been declined by Special, nothing to do with Amex's end. This happens if you've used/abused a deal before. They'll have your name down as a professional.

  • Last time I did this my order was cancelled and declined for no reason

  • I was surprised there was no Amazon. Do any of their other cards work at Amazon?

    • This person said a while ago the Special Tech Head gift card worked at Amazon AU, but I have no idea if that is still the case.

    • Tech Head just worked at Amazon, if you buy a $200 Amazon card, use code GCFEB for a $5 credit.

  • I am curious to know how others use these gift cards to their full capacity. I have in the past bought a woolworths gift card for shopping in store and I always seem to have a couple of dollars left over. Is it possible to split a transaction with the remaining balance entered and then use another payment method?

In addition, does anyone know if you can use a woolworths gift card to buy another gift card in store eg. Amazon?

    Thanks in advance :)

    • Yes, if I buy the Woolworths card from special.com.au I just split the transaction at the self service checkouts to use what is left.

      • Thanks for confirming, appreciate it

    • +3

It mostly definitely is possible to split the transaction at Woolworths. If you're using the self-checkout counters, I think the option is called 'Card (Split Payment)'.

    • I've been using the Woolworths GCs purchased through Special for over a year now, one of my favrouite cards. Never had an issue using them to their full capacity.
So what I did was, download the SpecialGiftCards app, make an account, then load/add the GCs into the app. It shows the balance of each card.
When checking out at Woolies, I always use the self-checkout service, select Split Card Payments (not giftcards) from meomory, then enter the amount you've got left in the card and pay. Obviously if you've got a $200 GC, but your shopping is only $50, you'll just selcet pay by Card option (again, not Giftcard option), and tap, instead of Split Card Payment.
      Hope this makes sense.

No amazon unfortunately, that's a real bummer as that's my go to Gift card for these specials

    • Same, because I can use every last cent of their gift cards very easily :)

      Does Woolworths sell Amazon giftcards?

If so, you can buy the Woolworths special GC and then buy the Amazon giftcard from Woolworths.

Since it goes through as a CC payment, you can buy giftcards using the specail giftcard.

      • Just found this online

"Can I use my Gift Card to buy another Gift Card? No, you cannot buy a Gift Card or eGift Card with a Woolworths Gift Card. Purchases can be made online and in-store using cash, credit or debit card. See Woolworths Gift Cards product restrictions for more information."

Was hoping someone had tried it and could prove that statement wrong

        • +2

You can't use a standard WW giftcard to buy giftcards. But the special giftcard gets added to Google Pay and is not processed as a Woolworths giftcard.

          So it bypasses this restriction.

When you go to pay with the WW Special giftcard, you select credit card as payment method.

          • @Xishnik: Oh nice one! thanks for confirming. Appreciate it

      • Does Woolworths sell Amazon giftcards?

Nope. But BIG W does if you have one nearby

  • Good. Got it on my Amex Discovery. Thanks OP.

  • Got it on my Amex Discovery. My go to is Woolworths GC, can never go wrong with it.

I've been using it to purchase other GCs no issue. Love it! Was literally just checking last night to see if the offer was back, and there it is! Thanks OP.

    • DIY (bunnings) Explorer (petrol stations) and Foodie (restaurants and fast food) and pretty good too for places its normally hard to get a discounted gift card for.
