          Must be just you.

        • Nothing against people following Ramadan but would someone who was religious enough to be following Ramadan eat non halal beef? I’m guessing it’s not halal. Not being Muslim myself I don’t know, but perhaps this deal is just not for everyone.

          • @morse: They can have the vegetarian option.

    • +1

      targeted

      • Seems that way…

    • +2

But you can say that to vegetarians or vegans or people allergic to any of the pho ingredience or anyone that can't get to melbourne cbd.

      Deals are not for everyone.

      • -2

But you can say that to….

        You could…

  • Sweet

      • +2

        Pho sho

      • +1

        • +1

        • +1

          Pho is fine

      • +1

        what the pho?

  • What’s the risk to go there and get told run out?

    • -8

      get told run out?

      What if you tripped?
You might be able to sue.

  • I'd take advantage of this if I wasn't so fat.

    • +6

Pho is healthy and low in fat and calories.

Eat this instead of Krispy Kreme donuts…

      • 😂

      • -5

        But a ton of msg

        • What's wrong with that?

          • -5

@jv: Ask Google. I'm too lazy

            • +6

@[Deactivated]: I asked google and he told me msg has no calories and is a completely harmless additive originally derived from seaweed. People's aversion to it is based on one study from the 1970s that had a sample size of one(the writer) and has been categorically misproven.

              • @ds311: It may not harm you, but it makes me thirsty and at the same time having to go to the loo like crazy. A lot of people like me can't stand msg

        • +2

As far as I know, the original recipe of Vietnamese pho would require simmering beef bone for hours (even half a day) to have the sweet rich broth. Now people are turning to msg to save time and resources (beef bones are hard to come by). It's rare to find the pho with delicate techniques as the original one.

        • -3

lol. Don't like facts. Neg army in full swing

      • +1

Home made pho agreed but restaurants have difficulty matching mainstream tstes and have to balance costs. I've yet to see a pho without a solid layer of oil. mmmmm

I did however skip the $12 KK day, gave myself a pat on the pack and promptly went to the gym to do Olivia Newton John workouts.

        • to do Olivia Newton John workouts.

          These?

          • @jv: Even back in 1981, she looked like an old leather handbag.

      • Pho is healthy and low in fat and calories.

Boy, you're in for a big surprise. The real pho got so much fat that after you're done eating, you will need to use your fingernail to scrape out the fat built up inside your mouth.

        • The real pho got so much fat

That's why I prefer the unreal pho.

        • Pho has many variations, some might have more fat because of the major ingredients (different types of meat) or added manually for aesthetics, preferences, or fooling customers (fat layer covers the humble size of the noodles and makes you feel full!)
Imo, undone beef pho (Pho Tai Lan) is the one with littlest fat but we can’t find here due to hygienic concern and hard preparation. Imo, it’s the best and most original pho, a must try when you come to Vietnam.

          • +1

@Newgod: You should try Pho Thin on Hardware Ln/Lonsdale st. They are all about rare beef pho.

            • @kaitoivan: Cool, thanks mate! I'll give it a try.

              • +1

@Newgod: bear in mind pho thin is northern style. most pho you eat in Oz is southern style.

    • I see more fat westeners than fat nammers in Melbourne CBD.

      • +2

Can confirm, I'm a fat westerner and if I'd only ever eaten pho I would not be fat.

    • 🤣🤣 fml this made me laugh. I needed that. Thanks. Comment of the day 👌

  • In a takeaway cup?

  • Whats the serving size like?

  • Go for Vietnamese pho :D

    • +1

      This is Vietnamese.

      • you must be free recently jv, lol

  • How do you pronounce pho just wondering.
    Fur? Fo? For?

    • +1

      Sounds like fur

    • +2

I think fuuh is the closest English pronunciation for pho [fə̃ː]

    • +2

Fur is correct. But I guess you could emphasise more on the 'ur' part.

    • It's Phở.

Not Fur or Fo or FU… it's Phở!

      • Wow ur up very late

  • -2

It is in a take away cup not a bowl, not worth a try, particularly go there and it already ran out

  • +3

It's pretty good. Just had a pho. Good service too.

  • +3

Really nice pho. Very friendly staff. Just some feedback: you need more prominent signage for "Hoa Hoi Vang"

    • +3

I like the name, which means "golden star anise" in English - implying one ingredient of the special spices used in pho.

  • +2

There are actual beggars went there for a cup of pho :) I’d let them know every Sunday afternoon, in front of vic state library, Salvation Army holds free food give away event

  • +2

Asian restaurants all have crazy names, Chinese like dynasty, empire king emperor attached to their restaurants also Chinese own Japanese restaurants borrow random Japanese kanji and place names. I facepalm when I saw a bubble tea shop named ‘the tea empire’. they have 2 staff, 4 seats in there I wonder what sort of empire that is.

    • The name means Anise, which is the main spice of Phở.

  • get pho!

  • Pho Phucks Sake! Why do I live in the NT?!

    • ha ha u missed out pho sure
