I really wanted to like this but it's not precise and hard to refill as the bladder shrinks. Just too cumbersome. I gave up after a couple of months. ok outside on the BBQ
Also why do I need to spray a salad?? just pour a little and mix.

    • +7

i usually just blow on the bladder so its back to its usual volume

      • +10

That's what I suggested in previous Deals - it's easy. What I did for years. But others complained it's not hygienic.

So we discussed other ways. It's much easier to suck air through the recessed hole in the base. It's quicker, easier & more effective in inflating the bladder fully. I'm a covert!

        Give it a try!

        • huh interesting! nice one

        • yes, valve at bottom of the bottle, if not with mouth, then a vacuum would do.

        • Good tip, thanks

        • +5

you're not a very good covert, i found you within hours.

        • +1
        • How did I not know this!?! I've been struggling for ages with the squished bladder so I couldn't get much oil in, sucking the air or from the bottom fixed it in 5 seconds. Ooops!

          • @MrGareth: Well it was a revelation to me after many years of use. Why I love useful comments.
            Sucking doesn't suck!!

        • +1

          Well… I'm coverted.

    • +7

Read discussion in previous Deal on how to solve that.

There's a hole recessed in the base (one way valve). If you suck on that for about 2 seconds with the sprayer top loosened or removed - the bladder quickly expands to full size to allow an easy refill.

Or just part fill the bladder without bothering to expand it. Better to keep most of the oil out of light in the original container & refill more often.

I've been using these for years.
Easy to use. Love using them.

    • +2

I don't get the keenness to suck on a plastic bottle like the others, but I find some swishing, squeezing and tapping on the bench enough to expand the bladder to allow a reasonable fill.

      • Sucking for a few seconds on the base is quicker, easier, & more effective to inflate the bladder fully.
Didn't believe it until I tried in November Deal.
No other way fully inflates the bladder. I've tried.

        • +1

Yeah no thanks. The only kitchen thing I'm putting my mouth near is the cooking spatula :P

    • +2

I use a bamboo stick. Bladder opens right back up. Awesome thing

    • +6

I was the same. I recently got a new one from woolies (not on special and I’m spewing), however, there is no longer a bladder inside the new version. It is much better. Highly recommend now

    • +5

New ones don’t have the bladder and have a finer spray pattern.
      Definitely worth the upgrade.

    • +1

These no longer have the bladder in them.

    • +1

Got mine from wollies this morning, no bladder and such a pleasure to spray XD

    • I got 2, 1 for oil, one for vinegar, and they both stopped working. I presume clogged, but no amount of soaking in hot water will fix.

I would love a solution that works though

  • +2

Are these good for non stick pans since I've read ready bought sprays are bad for the coating?

    • +3

The propellent in the cans aren't good for the NS coating.

    • Havent jumped on a lodge deal yet?
Works a treat on mine and so many other benefits

    • Use one of these with cocoearth mct coconut oil and your pans will last waaaaaaay longer.

    • A spray is also not recommended for non-stick pans because you then have a very thin layer of oil instead of a more liberal pouring from the bottle, and that oil burns off more quickly.

  • +2

The new version (I did get it off amazon us) doesn't have a bladder anymore. More like the usual spray bottles.

    • +3

Photos show the bladder on Amazon.
      They're price matching Woolies @$6.

      • Yep, strange, because it's the same link that I purchased from, and mine didn't have the bladder, but I did read that it does list the bladder.

        • As others commented - new model is in.stores. So those are old photos.

      • Photos on amazon don’t usually correlate to the specific seller of the item. Example is the F80 mounts, the listing doesn’t get updated even if one of the sellers sells the new version of the item.

    • I bought the same one a couple of months ago and it does have a bladder.

      • -1

Thanks for confirming, won't be getting it then.

    • +1

      Just arrived. No bladder

    • +3

      Purchased!

I know Amazon is not a great company, but how good is Amazon Prime !

      • magically good !

  • +1

I had one of these. Was ok. Have gone back to spray oils to be honest

  • +1

These are crap, wouldn't waste my money again, not even at half price.

Better off using a glass bottle with a built in reliable sprayer, found one at House (Cuisinepro) on clearance.

My apologies to the OP but I'm going to neg this deal based on my experience with the product.

    • +1

Agreed ours now shoots a straight stream of oil that ricochets off of everything.

      • I have found is totally dependant on the oil, Cobram oil is no good in these, the oils I get direct from the farmer is great. Not sure why but does make me think.

        • +2

I use cobram in this and been awesome for 2 years! love it!

        • depending on the density of the oil… some oil r low in density will shoot straight as the pressure is too high… vs dense oil will provide sufficient resistent to the pressure n get distribute evenly…

    • +7

Huh, I really like ours. Shoots a nice fine spray if you pull the trigger hard (giggity)

    • +2

Mine has worked perfectly for at least two years.

    • +1

With endless positive experiences, it seems these couple of bad ones are user or bad batch.

The filling is a non-issue, I don't know why all the fuss above. Open, pour slowly to top, it'll self settle, give gentle squeeze & quick release to get bladder to expand again, fill some more. That's once a month for us.

We've used any & every discount oil, no issues. The only time it sprayed a jet was first 2-3 times we used it, when we tried doing tiny sprays. Just squeeze hard on the trigger, it gives the desired mist/fan effect

    • +1

I've had two of these (one for olive and one for vegtable oil). In use for 3+ years and they both work perfectly. The olive oil sprayers lever has split down the middle (only because it was dropped and probably landed badly) but still works and sprays just fine.

    • +1

Had one for years, never looked back. Maybe try cleaning it out? I've never had to clean mine though.

Someone mentioned Cobram oil but that's what goes in mine.

Never bought a pressurised spray oil pack since! Yay environment!

  • I bought one of these last time it was on sale. Hated it. It only squirted streams of oil and would only spray if something less viscous like water was in it.

    • +7

      Return it - it's faulty.
Bought 1 with that fault. Took it back to store & easily swapped it.
Has been working perfectly. Very happy.

      • hmmm my success rate was 0 for 2… but if I buy 2 more and return those ones….

  • +3

Have two of these, love them so much we've given them to others and we're all fans. Don't settle for one that squirts - it's faulty. Ours have sprayed faithfully for years.

    • +3

"Don't settle for one that squirts - it's faulty. Ours have sprayed faithfully for years."

      👀

      • Bring a mop & a bucket…
        To aisle 3

  • Has anyone used this with rice oil?

    • +1

Yep, one of mine always has rice bran oil in it. Works a treat.

      • Perfect - thanks.

        • I do and agree , it works well
For 6 bucks if it works for an year it is worth it.

          • @Wiser: if it works for a couple of uses then jams up, then you have a bottle full of oil in a container you want to return, not so worth it… x2

I don't think I've I've never been more annoyed by a product…. but then again I reckon I've tried a dozen times to resolve the issue now, never with a result. A lot of effort for 0 success.

    • I have been using mine with rice bran old for more than a year now, works great!

  • +2

My local Woolworths had both versions, the older one with the internal bladder/bag and the newer one with the internal straw like that you find in a normal spray bottle.

I’ve picked up that newer model for $6 to try out.

    • Good to read the new ones are @Woolies👍
Will get rid of the issue with filling, so get those.

    • I have the bladder version and I am considering getting a second one.

If you have used the newer model, would you mind sharing how the new model compares to the old one (bladder vs. non-bladder)? Thanks!

  • Mines about a year old. Sprays in 2 streams now. One either side and nothing in the middle.
Havent bothered to try and fix.
    Anyone had similar issues?

  • Has anyone tried using warm/hot water to flush out the sticky oil? I’m sure that’ll fix the problem people are having with theirs

    • I have, and I haven't used it ever since, because I couldn't get out the remaining water or oil, or a mixture that condensated (or just stayed?) on the inner walls. Little droplets, maybe I should wash it better. I'm sure people need to clean it occasionally, as some dregs occur after refilling a couple of times.

Now that I know the trick with sucking on its bottom, I may straighten the bladder out and clean it right.

    • I've tried warm, hot and boiling. Maybe that's not the issue with mine

  • +2

These are so hard to clean

  • +1

I use these for spraying houseplants and terrarium plants, works a treat :)

  • Worth every cent. Get in.

  • -1

Use a decent oil and you don't have to worry about spraying it, it's good for you 😁

    • drink it straight from the bottle

  • Just wondering how much decor am I getting here for my money?
    Worth it?

  • I'm kind of confused what people think they need this for. Cant you just pour it from the bottle? If you need a smaller amount, partially cover the opening with your finger like humans have been doing for literally 6000 years.

    • +6

I'm kind of confused what people think they need this for.

For..spraying oil on things? You can have your 6000 year old bottle if you want, this is great for quickly coating a pan or spritzing vegetables before roasting.

    • +2

      I'm with you johnno97.

    • +2

I use the oil brush, you can never go wrong with it.

    • +1

Seriously? You can't see any use case for spraying as opposed to pouring? You're just looking at a very narrow range of scenarios right?
I'd go the other way - I reckon spraying is far more useful than pouring, and for situations where it's not, I can easily remove the head and pour.

      • -1

Between a bottle and a pastry brush I have never wanted for the ability to spray oil.

  • I love using this product on my balls of dough.

  • Is it possible to just connect the nozzle directly to a container of oil. No more messing around with refilling the oil?

    • No.

  • Amazon price matching

Might be a bit of a lucky dip if you get the old or the new. They have one pictured in an enclosed box and one open like in the Woolies picture. The description mentions the bladder, but it wouldn't be the first time if it's not updated.

    • nice, prime member so saves me going to woolies

    • I thought I'd read the comments, but apparently I missed the comments earlier about Amazon. Someone confirmed their one from Amazon is bladderless. That's good, I had ordered two.

  • Noooo I accidentally negged 😭😭😭 sorry! Can mods please remove my neg vote or tell me how?

I have one of these from one of the last deals and they are fantastic. I'd definitely recommend them to everyone for oil and cleaning solutions!

    • You voted + lol

In the future go up to 'Votes' at the top, and click Revoke to remove yours. You can't swap an upvote to a downvote and vice versa though

      • +1

You can actually swap your vote (for both deal and comment votes), if you do it within 1 minute and don't refresh the page. I assume that is what the OP did. However once that time has passed or you have refreshed, then yes you can only revoke.

        • PHEW! Thank you, yeah I did quickly try to remove it and ad a + vote.

  • AVOID. leaks after a few weeks.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I ordered one yesterday at 3:49pm and it arrived today at 10:12am for $6.00 with prime.

    Crazy!

    • FYI no bladder

  • +2

Thanks op. Ordered from Amazon last night and just arrived. Can confirm is the new version. I have no idea what the bladder in the old one is supposed to look like but I see no holes that need to be prodded at the bottom of the bottle.

Tested with grapeseed oil and it spritzes beautifully. It seems to be more of a wide and narrow horizontal spritz rather than rounded like the aerosol type but I am just happy I dont need to buy the aerosol cans anymore. My oven fried chicken and what nots thank you. =)

  • Oh yeah just got mine and spraying the bbq grill has never been easier!

  • +1

Upgraded version seems to be better so far.
