Due to the recent HFC technology shortages and the potential demand on our call centre, we feel it is important to manage demand and as such, we have decided to put our existing customer Focus on Fast promotions on hold.

If customers decided to upgrade their plans now via MyAussie, the system is ready and will apply the promotion (provided the service is eligible), but we will be holding off our communications of Focus on Fast to existing customers until later this week.

Plans not available at all premises. Only redeemable with an existing active Aussie Broadband nbn™ service. Current nbn™ plan must be held for a minimum of 3-months prior to the upgrade to be eligible to receive the discount.

Customers are eligible to upgrade to any supported plan above/faster than their existing active plan

Update. Thanks to kain0rer

They've scrapped the need for being on the same plan for 3 months, it's now as long as you haven't been on the same plan you're upgrading to in the last 3 months.

  • Making a killing on the 1000/50 since the wholesale price is the same as all the others

As others have mentioned, only upgrades are allowed

When you stop caring about your existing customers they are set to churn out. Full stop.

They have been extremely arrogant and full of themselves lately…dear OBB, remember, its your customers who made you stand out through word of mouth and praises on social media.

I have been their customer for a few years and was sick of all promotions for new customers only, of course there is a hell of competition in the market and I moved to another better service provider. Who gives a damn whether your support staff are sitting in Australia or overseas, as long as the consumers are receiving service.

I can't remember ever being more infuriated than I am right now with Aussie.

I've been with Aussie for 2+ years, moving house twice in the process. In November they decreased my speed (from 100/40 to 100/20) while increasing my cost. I stayed with them despite faster/cheaper deals elsewhere. I thought this deal was finally vindication of my loyalty, and I logged on and upgraded by to 100/40 (it came up with the wrong price but I hit go with immediate effect).

Just to make sure that I was going to have the deal honoured I called customer service who told me that their system was playing up, and the advertised price would be honoured. Then they mentioned that they just wanted to check my specifics. After speaking with her supervisor the CS rep came back and said I was not eligible for the discount as I had only been on my plan for 2.5 months and not 3 months, and I would have been eligible if I had waited until Feb 19. I said OK please reverse my transaction of 30 minutes earlier and I will put the upgrade through for Feb 19.

Their response to this was that their system had registered a plan change and even if I changed back to 100/20 now I would need to wait another 3 months before I would eligible for the discount and there was nothing they could do to fix it.

I just ported to Superloop for $20 a month cheaper, and Aussie will NEVER get another cent of my money no matter what deal they come up with.

    • Some of this is the nbn backend system doesn't handle changes for existing rsp customers. Had a similar problem with internode that was quicker to simply port out rather than wait for days and weeks.

      • +3

I confess, if every other ISP in Australia infuriates me as much as Aussie have I may give them another go, but reckon I've got at least a decade before that happens.

    • Aussie BB terms & conditions clearly state that it has to be at least 3 months. Superloop are 👍

      • +6

I never changed my plan. Aussie told me that my price/speed had changed.
"Due to the fact that we recently told you that you will pay more for lower speeds, you are not eligible for our current discounting"

Obviously fine print/contractually they were probably correct, but from a customer perspective I feel they are rubbing salt in my eye while kicking me in the balls and telling me it was my fault for putting my balls near their feet.

Not the experience I want to keep paying for…

  • Im guessing after six months if i upgrade from 100/20 to 250/25 i will get nailed with the old prices??

    • +2

Correct. Just change your plan back to the 100/20 6 months to the day. That's what I just did (and will do on August 2nd).

      • Looks like i cant upgrade anyway! Im on HFC and i dont see any option to upgrade.

        • Best thing to do is give them a buzz and confirm over the phone. Might be easier that way vs online.

  • +5

Switched to Superloop… ABB unable to retain their customers

    • funny, I did the opposite. I switched from superloop to ABB. Superloop support is absolutely attrocious (at least during the time I was with them, their support took 4 weeks to get back to me), good luck trying to get a DC issue or speed issue sorted. Whereas I emailed ABB, they decided to call me instead and get it sorted over the phone rather doing constant email exchanges.

      • +1

Been with ABB for too long and all the promotions are for new customers…

Getting similar service with Superloop by paying less money and double the speed, so I'm happy with that

  • +1

ABB point of difference is their customer service. When connecting to NBN, ABB are the middleman but they still managed to lie and deceive throughout the process and it directly caused delay. I had an instance of a CS rep give me false information and then hang up the call, I phoned back instantly and I was told that person was on a lunch break. This it their point of difference!

Thankfully moving to SL took a few minutes and I haven't looked back.

  • Hi All,
I have been with ABB for long time (FTTP 50/20, have been paying $79 for a while now).
Although I am happy with the service, noticed SuperLoop is offering same 50/20 for $59 for first 6 month…

So how long does it take to switch from ABB to SuperLoop?
I have FTTP and current billing period with ABB is ending in 7 days. Can I still move to SC by this billing periord?

Tried calling SuperLoop, waiting in the queue (16th place).

    • +2

      literally a few minutes.
Just go through the steps on the SL page, don't even bother phoning them.
I believe ABB bills pro-rata and SL monthly so no issues in transferring away from ABB mid month - check your paperwork to confirm

      • Thanks mate
Would you rate SuperLoop as decent
        I am seeing mixed reviews
Just called ABB and you are right - its pro-rata based

Managed to speak with a ABB rep in 5 mins (already seeing difference with SuperLoop here)
I guess I am paying the $20 premium for the 'better/quicker' customer response time LOL

        • +3

I am only 1 person, but I switched to Superloop last year due to the ABB price rise. Churn was quick, speed the same. Haven't had any issues in about 6 months being with them.

        • +4

SL has been fine for me, I can't really tell the difference. I'm on 100/20 FTTC.

Up to you & your priorities - for me I was happy to shop around on price. Once setup I don't have any need to contact the ISP.

        • +1

Superloop has been nothing but issues for me on the same 50/20 plan. Stick to ABB for $20/month.

    • +2

I just swapped because I got tired of being ineligible for discounts (been on NBN 1000 since day 1). The longest part of the process was cancelling ABB. I went online, bought SL, my modem disconnected and reconnected, all within about 10 minutes. Took about 10 mins to cancel with ABB after that.

Took basically no time at all

    • So SuperLoop is offering 50/20 for $59 for first 6 months, what happen after that? Does the price go up to the same $79 per month?

  • +4

Join the telco that gives a ****

Thanks for the suggestion, I already moved from ABB to one who gives a ****

    • May I ask which provider you have moved to?

I am thinking Superloop but seeing mixed reviews
      Will appreciate some suggestions

      • +8

I moved to Superloop on 6 months discounted promotion, at least their staff didn't suggest me to move to another provider (Aussie Broadband rep literally told me to).

  • I got stuck in limbo when signing up for NBN just a few days ago. After paying with credit card, they won't proceed further & demanded I provide the ULL ID plus proof of occupancy. Does Aussie Broadband do the same? I thought signing up for NBN is a breeze but this is not the case so far.

    • All ISPs can ask for proof of occupancy.

      • I wonder how you prove that if you're living without a lease?

I guess name on another bill? Drivers licence?

  • Bollocks - I'm with Aussie broabband but on a Opticomm network so doesn't apply to me.
For the record - Been very happy with Aussie Broadband, OZ based call centre and their service dept works till 12am if you're ever having technical issues.

    • How many times a year you need to call them if you know what you doin?
I have been with SL since i moved out of ABB(for jackin the price) for past 6 months and haven't called them even once!! service came up after churn and working , simple.

i don't deny necessity of call center but bolding local call center i think is just way to trick and deceive non-IT ordinary people

      • +1

called them once. I signed up for the 250plan, I was so happy doing speed tests and it showing 260.
Then 24 hours later, it was 125, called them to find out what was happening. They took me through what issues could arise, I have a Google Nest 2pack.
We came to the conclusion it was my bed frame as I was moving and my all metal bed frame was leaning against the closet, where the router and opticomm box was, ie. creating massive interference with the signal.

        • fair enough mate , i won't dispute that. There are times that user need help and this falls to those exceptions.

That's nice of them to help you troubleshoot while they could have just tested the speed from router interface and that connects to NBN port and that'd have shown the 250Mbps speed

  • how do ABB compare to Mate in terms of performance? I always see SL and ABB on here but not much on Mate… but they are cheaper ongoing excluding any 6 month promos.

    • I honestly don't understand the hype over ABB and SL.
I'm on Mate for $79 per month, which is their everyday price for 100/20 plan and it's been perfectly fine. I used to get around 85mbps but getting 80mbps these days. This is on FTTN. Cant imagine I'll get much in the way of improvement in speed even if I move and it'll just cost me more money for not much gain.

  • +2

Just switched from 100/20 for $99pm to 100/40 for $89pm for 6 months. Happy with that.

    • Two questions…
Did you do it on MyAussie portal or call?
Did you select start of plan immediately or scheduled at next plan renewal?
      Thanks.

      • +1

Call and chat. App didn't work. Next billing cycle from memory.

  • I am an ABB customer on the NBN HFC 250/20 plan paying $129pm. I want to stay on the 120/20 plan, how do I get the special discount as an existing customer?

I am a very happy ABB customer, I am paying for a 250Mbps plan and getting a solid 269 to 275 Mbps according to OOKLA Speedtest. Mt Waverley area of Melbourne

    • Signup to 50/20 or 75/20 at full price for 3 months and after that change to 100/20 $89. Go to 1000/50 if available or change to SL.

      • Mistake: 75/20 is not eligible.

  • +1

So because Aussie changed our plan from 100/40 to 100/20 on the 14/11/20, after being on 100/40 for 2 years+, that means I'm not eligible to upgrade to 250/25 with the discount because I don't meet the 3 month criteria? Even though THEY changed our plan?

    • +1

You have to wait until Feb 14th.

      • Yeah I figured but it seems bloody stupid considering I have never personally changed the plan myself.

        • Yeah silly NBN requirements.

  • 100/20 $89/month (Was $99)
    100/40 $89/month (Was $109)

    Is that a typo? Both @ $89?

    • Both @ $89.

      • +2

Wow that is very interesting pricing. We were forced off 100/40 to 100/20 a few months ago and they also jacked up the price at the same time.

        • 100/40 $89/month offer is available if it has been longer than 3 months. After 6 months go back to 100/20 $99/month, stay on 100/40 $109/month or change ISP.

  • +3

Wow, I'm an existing customer on 100/40 FTTN.

I can see the existing customers get my product cheaper, new customers get 100/20 much cheaper but I can't go to the new pricing.

What a promo! I'm off to superloop, seeya ABB!

  • +1

How can I port out from TPG? Should I give them 30 days notice and wait 1 month to activate this?

    • Yeah that's the process with TPG.

  • Does this upgrade work for business plans?

    • Nah.

  • For those on 250/25 with ABB, it looks like SL is offering $119.95 after the promo period ends. Might be worth seeing ABB will match that price

  • FTTC is limited to 100/40 speed right?
I recall asking for 250 down and ABB said not available. Is that because of FTTC or something else?

    • FTTC = 100/40.

NBN said FTTC will become faster over time. When I don't know.

      • :(((((

  • how's optus?

NBN 50/20 (month to month contract)

    75 - without fetch
    79 - with fetch mini
    90 - with fetch mighty

    • $99 connection fee and $252 for the 4G failover modem. Stay for 3 years and Optus waive the $252.

  • To clarify:
    nbn™ Home Superfast = 250/25
    nbn™ Home Ultrafast = 1000/50
    Correct?

    • Yeah 👍

NBN made changes recently and you may get 265 download on the 250/25.

      • +1

I'm getting between 250 and 280 via FTTP. I was content with 100 down so I'll take the extra bandwidth even if I don't need it lol

Although, using WiFi 6 with my new MBP M1 + Asus RT-AX88 (in conjunction with FTTP sitting at 250 down) definitely makes me a happy camper with regards to huge increases in productivity!

  • +1

For everyone complaining about calling up, try the LiveChat, I have LiveChatted a few times recently to apply for the Black Friday promotion and again today, took only 2 minutes each time and I'm saving lots of money down from the expensive higher speed plans.

    Thanks Aussie :)

PS: Currently on $109 p/m for 250/25 speed until March 20 (3 months of consecutive service) when I will be upgraded to $119 p/m 1000/50 speed with the new discount.

    • +2

I had to turn off my adblocker on the Aussie BB page to talk to chat 🤣

      • +1

That's weird haha. I didn't have to turn any of mine off!

      • +2

I've had to do the same in the past. I just put a filter in Ublock and Privacy Badger because they have a tendency to kill live chat most of the time (which is a great thing when you have those annoying live chat pop ups that overrule every single page on a website).

    • Was $109 BF pricing? Must have missed the deal

      • Yep BF I signed up on that date for the BF pricing. Easy to miss with the increased Ozbargain traffic for BF!

    • Where is livechat? I can't find it :(

  • so uh is the promo period just for a month ?

    • Nope, as per the linked promotion T&C's:
"The promotional period commences on 01/02/2021 and ends on 31/07/2021".

      • So as a new customer i can sign up any time between then ….

        • I'm existing customer so not sure but I'd give the whole thing a read! :) And then LiveChat them if you have further questions, they are extremely transparent every time I speak with them.

        • Anytime between now and the end of July.

    • This promo pricing is for 6 months. After that normal pricing.

  • Give me a damn 50/50 pahlease

    • Why 50/50?
For gaming or just a big uploader?

      • I'm quite happy with 50 down as a price point, obviously prefer 100 down but it does add cost for convenience.

The 50 up is so I can remotely stream from my Plex server. I've had 20 and 40 up but once I started having a few family members streaming at once it really kills my bandwidth for gaming etc.

So I'd love more up to make it smoother.

  • I am eligible for this offer as per T&C (75/20 NBN-FTTP over 3 months).
Can I change my plan now to 100/40 selecting "Immediate plan change" without paying anything extra? has anyone tried it successfully? of have to wait till schedule plan change cycle? which in my case end of the month.

  • -5

5G you can get really fast speeds. Well over 250.
Why is it that FTTC is only 100/40? :(

Pity I am paranoid about 5G radiation …

    • FTTC hardware needs to be changed.

If your close to the 5G tower that is. 5G is non ionizing and the sun can do more damage if outside too long.

  • Anyone switched from business to residential?

    • I would like to know this as well.

    • You have to swap and wait 3 months to get this offer.

      • What would be the benefit of business compare to residential?

        • Included static IP, faster uploads, different bandwidth profiles and faster support.

  • I dont understand why they upped there price like 4 months ago and now giving me a discount ?!

  • +4

Unfortunately, it is very hard to justify ABB’s prices these days. Superloop offers the same service but cheaper.

  • +6

I'm not one of those "abb gib discount" posters, but I saw this and thought hey, I've been a customer for literally years, neat.

turns out I'm not eligible because when they downgraded me from 100/40 to 100/20 last year after the price hike, and I manually changed it back to 100/40 at the higher price, that means my plan changed too recently to be eligible

sorry for paying more abb and not churning when you upped my price. you really are a sucker if you don't play the churn game

EDIT: they charged me $10 to change back to my original plan too

    • +4

Churn game is the way to go 👍

    • +3

they are just encouraging you to leave, they don't want you as a customer

    • I am in the same position. Time for me to churn

  • I wish i could stack this with my current offer hah. I did the boxing day update.

  • +1

Existing customers on the highest tier plan they can get will need to downgrade for 3 months to be able to take advantage of this offer.
