  • Plus $4.00 Postage… Should be in Title and/or Description

Decent price. Was about $8 cheaper on Amazon UK though (not long back (approx $74 Delivered)

I'm gonna see if its a black Friday special first before purchasing, as that would see a substantially lower price

    • +11

I too found the lack of postage, disturbing.

      • trucking lol

  • +25

Wait a second? 'THE COMPLETE SAGA'? '6 MOVIES'?

Is there something I'm missing here? Star Wars has only ever been a 3 movie trilogy.

    • +2

      Correct, and greedo shot first.

      • +8

And Vader never cried like a big girl… Noooooooooooooo

        • +2

Yes, and fake CGI dinosaurs were not hanging around outside the cantina.

        • Come on guys, this is a new generation; Cuddles = Strangles.

    • +2

You could get just the 3 for $38 delivered.
      http://www.bigw.com.au/entertainment/dvds-blu-ray/blu-ray/bp…

[EDIT] Oops it was free shipping, so it's $38 including delivery, not the $42 I originally said.

    • +15

You get six discs. Three movies and three coasters

      • -4

I'd actually include ep 3 as being (only just) decent enough to be included

    • +13

It's a bit like when people mention the Matrix movie trilogy. There was only one movie.

      • Hey… i was in 2 & 3. That hurts!!

    • oops. wrong reply

    • +1

Some loser had the temerity to try and tell me that there was a sequel to Highlander the other day!

    • These are not the droids you're looking for

  • Excellent price! Might grab myself a copy!

  • Good price. With shipping it's only about $1 cheaper than Amazon UK, though. When you're in WA, shipping from Amazon can be faster than Australia Post's parcel delivery from east coast. May wait for Amazon UK's price to drop.

  • +4

does this count as 6 blu rays for the free blu ray player deal?

    • +2

at a guess the word 'blu-ray' gives it away. silliness.

    • +2

      You're right. Lets sue them.

      • +4

        yes. We should
Star wars is serious matter. Not like Star Trek

    • +9

I bet you're popular at parties.

  • +4

When they re-release the re-released version with the Star Wars Christmas special….then it'll be complete.

    • They haven't invented the technology required to polish that turd of a tele-movie. Still, worth a few laughs to watch while drinking.

    • Who wouldn't want to see Harvey Korman dressed in drag in glorious High Definition?

      Stir Whip!

  • +2

Great movies. What a shame they only ever made three of them.
    http://xkcd.com/566/

  • +1

    something something something darkside.

    something something something complete.

(and lucas stuffed it by changing original movies)

  • +2

Blah, blah, the Revenge of the Sith is arguabley the best, and the changes Lucas makes are barely noticeable, if you watch them all together they have a good progression from peace to war

Anyway I bought these on Amazon a while back and the quality is pretty amazing, the documentaries aren't the best though, short and lacking but as expected with Bluray extras

  • actually you jest but a 3D remake is underway :)

  • +3

Hmm, if retailers can sell this box set at less than $80, then why are they selling it at $140 or whatever it was before? And they wonder why people buy from overseas …

  • +3

A better deal is $38 for the original trilogy with free postage-

    :)

  • +1

Actually if you buy the two 3-movie sets separately, you save $2. (Shipping for both is $4). Total comes to $80.

    • +4

You don't get the 3 additional discs of content though..

      • True.

    • +1

The problem is that you miss out on the extras that are only in the "complete" boxset, 3 discs worth (although as others have said, they're not that great).

Buying separately is a good deal for those that do not want the new trilogy though.

      • exactly right. stuff the 'extras' and get the movies with no recent crappy updates.

  • Does han solo shoot first? If not, i most definitely am not buying it!

  • +1

Star Wars II and IV can cause certain (generally older) receivers to glitch (e.g. audio dropouts) when bitstreaming. Some manufacturers, such as Denon, have provided a firmware fix to address this. Others, such as Sony, haven't (grrr). Anyway, if you experience this you can set your player to decode and PCM the audio to the receiver. This is more of a 'band-aid' than a fix, but should at least let you enjoy the movie if you can't get a firmware update.

having never seen a star wars movie… I might take a shot at this… movie marathon…
Are the 3 new movies really that bad?

    • If your a diehard line up at midnight in your star trooper suit to see them first fan, yes.
Being you have never seen them Im guessing your not in that category so you should enjoy them all.

    • IMO they aren't bad at all. I believe it's just a meme to hate on them.
I reckon the people who dislike them are only the people who loved the originals & were huge fans of them before the prequel trilogy films were made. They seem to particularly hate the new/different things that they introduce.

      • Didn't love the originals. Thought they were ok and don't mind watching them. The new ones though, bleurgh. Horrible script, acting and general direction. Jar Jar should've been stuffed in a jar and turned to jam.

      • I saw the original Trilogy at the cinema. At the time (I was 10), I thought Star Wars was over-hyped. The best thing about the Empire Strikes Back is that Hoyts multiplex in Brisbane City opened, and that was the big film. And Return of the Jedi was ok, but the Ewoks were the equivalent of Jar Jar.

Give me Raiders of the Lost Ark for a more exciting George Lucas story.

BUT the new films were/are just boring. Flashy, and impressive looking, but would have been better if the dialogue driven scenes were excised.

So, no, it's not just a meme. I for one hate the new ones.

    • +1

Are the 3 new movies really that bad?

If you watch them in chronological order - no, but they ruin a key scene in The Empire Strikes Back.

If you watch them in date release order - yes, and they're also redundant.

      • So the question is… to watch in date release order or to not? :O

    • +1

      Watch in this order:
      4,5,1,2,3,6.

The 1,2,3 is an optional extended flashback prior to the conclusion.

For kids, it even saves the big spoiler.

  • +2

I've got a bad feeling about this … deal.

  • +4

I don't think all the exclamation marks and capital letters are called for.
We've seen it at this price before, and even less another time.

  • Jeez I look away from Oz Bargain for like 2 hours and this pops along. I bet theyre all sold out by now.

  • +5

"this is not the complete saga you are looking for"

    • "this is not the complete saga i am looking for…. he can go about his business….. move along"

  • Thanks, Missed out on the cheap price last time.

  • +2

I price match with jb hifi and got it for $78 ( save 4 dollars on shipping)

This is a very good price, cheaper than amazon US.

  • If it had Caravan of Courage I would buy it

  • Is everyone on OzBargain middle aged? Or just preferred the first 3?

I'm 30, and i did see the first 3 on TV when i was a kid, and liked them. But my favourite was Ep1 when i was 18. I thought it was so exciting. Darth Maul looked wicked cool, loved the double ended light sabre.
There was a lot more good light sabre battles, and using of the force to move stuff and fight with.

Darth Vader is still the most ominous baddie.

Great deal for all movies on Bluray.

Ep1 is being released in 3D early next year. US release is mid Feb.

  • Just went to order and its out of stock

  • If out stock and I go to jb for price match will they give it for big w price?

  • I'm waiting…,. the market was absolutely flooded with these. They'll be cheaper, just like the DVD releases.
TPM is in 3D in February, so I'll probably wait to see what happens with BD releases then.

  • Is amazon and zavvi cheaper since few post last months say $75

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/57450

  • i love star wars!

  • People that ordered this have you received your order yet from BIG-W?

    • I was about to ask the same question Gerrard. called up BIG-W and all they could come up with is that they are experiencing high delivery volumes and should be here by the end of the week. im still yet to receive mine

      • I called up yesterday and the lady said "it seems like its been marked as 'out of stock', we'll refund your money"

        -.-;

        NOT HAPPY JAN

edit: they only told me after I've called them up twice…. dodgy bigw…

        • also not yet received. have sent a couple of emails since my order still says "being processed". got some standard reply saying deliveries are delayed.

it's definitely in stock - was in a bigw earlier today and there it was, for $118.

        • If they cancel my order and post it to you guys… I'm so gonna complain

        • Well I called them today(took 15min lol) and they did not say they are cancelling my order.

They said warehouse will be posting it to me within 1-2 days and are sorry for the delay

  • I've phoned them 3 times over the last 8 days, and emailed once, keep getting the same story…we have it in stock, our warehouse is just extremely busy. They have promised me 1-2 days every time, never ever ordering from them again. Just received an Amazon UK order within 4 business days…even that is twice as fast as JB !!!

  • On the phone now, they're saying the stock in the warehouse is actually for Layby orders…. not for people who have PAID online…

    stupid bigw.

  • So how did people go with their orders? Any updates yet?

I have to call them again later as their 1-2 days was bullshit once again ^_^

  • +1

I'm still waiting and I can't cancel even. As they supposedly printed the warehouse docket on the 24th of November. But it's still sitting as "Order Being Processed". I could have gotten it cheaper and sooner form UK by now!

    Never again, Big W!

    • just got a email saying my order has been dispatched

  • finnnnaallly got the dispatched email. lets hope get it tomorrow but im guessing monday

  • Mine has been dispatched today also and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow :D

    • My copy arrived today so all good now, even though it took ages to process.

  • Well I just got a credit on my account for the purchase. No notification, no email. But the order is still listed as "Order being processed".

  • Well its only taken 3 weeks. but finally received it today!

  • did anyone else get the blurays, AND the $82 refunded??
