Found this amazing deal on tobydeals for a Ring video doorbell 2 (NOT the 2nd gen) Please note that this is a grey import and people have had trouble with Tobydeals in the past. RRP for these are $329, so this is a absolute bargain, Would have bought if I didn't already have one. The ring video doorbell 2 has the removable battery with improved motion detection etc.

People have had trouble with most stores.. no reason for a neg. I bought a phone from TD a couple of months ago with no issues.

There greta if they actually have it in stock. They list everything in stock and if they have it you get a bargain. If not you will be trying to contact them for a month. They won't even answer PayPal. I've had good and very bad experience with them

    • I've bought a bunch of stuff from TD and never had an issue. Haven't had to return anything though either.

  • What's the difference between 2 and 2nd gen? They look quite similar/the same to me

    • +3

The 2 has a removable battery and faceplate. and better motion detection. No removable battery on the 2nd gen makes it a deal breaker for some as they have to take off the whole doorbell and take it inside to charge it. with the 2 it just slides out and you can slide in another one while waiting for it to charge. But for $133 its a bargain IMO and its cheaper than the 2nd gen.

  • looks good but this seems to be discontinued on ring.com and amazon. RRP $329 isn't really the case if JB and ost other retailers have it for $249 but still a good deal

    • Harvey Norman has it for $329 so I based RRP from that. Its still way better than the 2nd gen version that is going for $149.

      • @jayboi - gotcha. a great deal of course. can't figure out why thye don't sell bell 2 anymore - but bell 3 is pretty much like that with 1080p video

        • its because the doorbell 3 came out as a direct replacement at the same RRP, amazon had a clearance a couple months ago and put these for $229 Delivered

          • @jayboi: The other color looks fishy mate. Can't tell if its 2nd gen or Bell 2

    • JB also has the Ring Door View cam for $149, which has a removable battery and may suit some people. It replaces a peep hole. It can be had for about $130 on eBay.

      • But a peephole is required for that one and it is mostly suited for apartments, this is for the front of a house without a peephole. Anyway this is $133 so pretty cheap but as I said in the post, people have had trouble with tobydeals in the past and the door view cam is a great deal for those with peepholes

Uhh… there is the 'venetian bronze' version for $129 - click through to see more and it says RRP is $159. makes me think these guys maybe just selling the 2nd Gen of Doorbell 1 (which also only has two colors now) :-O

    • Under the features of the Venetian bronze you have mentioned, it lists 1080HD and removable battery if that's of any help

  • The peephole one at jb is no good if you have a fly wire door.If you do you’ll need a stand alone.

  • How fast is their shipping?

    • from HK? to AU during Covid? to Melbourne during lockdown? your guess as good as anyone's

      • Damn you’re right. Might get it off Amazon instead.

        • the trick is you don't have this version on amazon anymore (replaced by doorbell 3)

  • How does this compare to Eufy wireless 2k? No local storage I assume, but does it talk well with Google Hub? Also, I would need to get a chime box if I want to hear it at home instead of on my phone, right?

  • There is the doorbell 3 on sale for $229, much better option as it is from amazon

"much better" because it's $100 more?

      • Tobydeals has many issues because its a grey importer. The amazon link is the newer version too and you would not have warranty issues. Clearly looks like you don't know the difference mate.

        • Good on ya. Mate.

EDIT: found out about the CART3 code for an extra 3% off which brings this one down to $129 and edited the post

yes the 2 is much much better and more expensive 2nd gen is a lower end model that costs $149 from a trusted retailer, cancel it. Tobydeals probably had no stock on the doorbell 2 on purpose so they can push customers to get the Doorbell 2nd gen and get some more sales.
