  • Went to JB Hifi to get a new number after they confirmed it was for new numbers. Went Instore and they said they made a mistake.

    • your sentence is confusing! First you sent to JB Hifi (which is a store) but then you add that you later went in store.. did you walk out and walk back in??? :)

    I don't understand why people are considering this a deal, If the etc is $414 & first month is $59 (with discount) that's $473, gc is $500, so you're profit is $500 -$473 = $27

    I may be wrong, but how on earth is a $27 a deal ?

      $59 x 12 = $708
      $708 - $500 (gc) = $208
      $208 / 12 = $17.33 per month for 80GBs of data is not good?

    • I managed to get it done…well technically not Belong but I only ported out from Belong to Vodafone in the morning. I got declined at one store citing the 30 day rule, but other store was able to do it for me. My port (from vodafone) to Telstra was done in 10 minutes.
      The guy that did my port said there is no way for them (Telstra) to know if you were a belong/boost customer before Vodafone. I realize this deal might be over for now but I hope this is useful for others in the next deal.

          No worries.
          Yes he did ask, but didn't need to as the Telstra system shows when I was with them last (Feb this year). He showed me the Telstra screen which didn't have any mention of me being on belong.

    Mine got activated today after the systems being down yesterday. They honoured the $500 for me but it came as a $300 card and a $200 one that the manager wrote off. They said it really was meant to be for port ins only and the system wouldn’t allow them to issue a $500 gift card on a new sim for this deal. Who knows if true or not but either way I got the gift cards. And then it literally took 2min on Telstra chat to move my old number onto the new plan and cancel the old plan. Happy days. No porting out and back in required!

    • How long did it take for them to activate it? I signed up midday yesterday (they put it through on the systems this morning) and I still haven't had it activated.

      • First thing this morning they called me and said they’d done the order in the system and that it was activated. I didn’t test the sim out until a few hours later as I was out all morning so can’t say for sure how long it took.

        • Yeah okay, I was told to wait until my current SIM turns to SOS only, then put the new SIM in and go through the activation process before I can get my GC. Which is fine, but it is taking a good while.

          • @JoKing: Same situation, they managed to finish putting my order through the system yesterday lunch time, gave me the new sim but I’d still waiting on the port to go through on Telstra end. I jumped on the Telstra live chat and they said to give it 24-48 hours.

                      • @JoKing: I signed up yesterday, but Optus was still working and other telstra sim had no network.
                        I chat with telstra at around 11:45am today and asked the reason for delay in port. The guy said I have opened a request or sth like that and at 11:55, received email from optus saying they received port request and at 11:58am telstra started working. Also received the email again todayfrom telstra, which I received yesterday while JB Hifi activated my sim.

  • Does anyone know if you cancel a plan through a change of FNN if they charge ETC fees or if they just charge for any devices still left owing on the number.

    My current number has 2 months left so im trying to work out if i do a change FNN now or wait the 2 months

    • I tried to get my dad off contract from Optus on his old Huawei Mate 20 pro. He had 4 months left and they wouldn’t budge lol. No etc but device repayment was $88month!     Update: I have just got off the Telstra chat and they were no help. I was very confused about what the guy was saying most of the time - the broken english was hard to understand. I think what he said was he cannot help me because JB haven't submitted the order. I went into JB on the afternoon that the order was placed and they said it was all done. I even got a 'welcome to your plan' email from Telstra - so that doesn't seem right to me.

    I will have to go back into store tomorrow to ask them about it and see if it is on their end. I think that is all I can do at the moment, the Telstra support guy said something about "escalating the issue to role" but I have no idea what that meant.

    Little disappointed with this. Not sure if it's Telstra or JB but this will be 3rd time I have to go into store now and I still haven't got the plan or the GC. Shouldn't be this hard.

      Still remember when Telstra internet was down twice a few years ago. And had bad experience with their app that’s not recognising my phone plan. Have to contact CS several times only to use the app.

  • Exact same boat as you JoKing. Signed up for deal Friday, went back Saturday to collect Sim because of system issue, told to come back and collect GC once I ported over, but still using my optus Sim. Received same emails as you. Very annoying.

    • So after my disappointing experience above, someone else (who is speaking understandable English) has picked up the chat and told me about an hour ago that he will be 5 minutes and will be able to help me out tonight via the chat. But, as I said that was over an hour ago and still nothing. Will keep you posted, the issue might not be on JB's end like Telstra guy #1 told me.

  • Been a real roller coaster ride.
    They ported my number from old telstra plan. Didn't work. Old plan has been cancelled, old number is showing on the new plan but not working in real life. Went to physical telstra store and they gave me a new sim. Now don't have Internet and shows SOS only =(

    • The person doing my transfer stuffed up the SIm numbers with last digit typo. I’ve requested a new sim hopefully it will fix it.

  • OK guys update from my end.

    I didnt call just used telstra chat via the telstra app. Did some security check and guy asked for my sim card number and pushed through the order for me.

    Activation will be up n running within 24 hours as I was told.

    I also asked what took so long he said they had system issues and good that I have contacted them to rectify the issue. I also confirmed the offer now I think I just need to go back jb hifi once the service is officially activated and get the gift card.

    • I've been doing the same, but it has been another but quick. And the guy has all my details. At 8:20pm he said "give me 5-15 minutes to sort this out for".. aaandd well here we are at 10:30 with no sorting out done.

      I know JB are holding the GC for me, but I would rather get it sooner rather than later to confirm it's mine.

            • @sauce2k: Damn, lucky you! I've spoken to 5 different Telstra reps via the app chat now. It's been over 24hrs, I've had to confirm my identity 3 times. Each time the rep says "5-15 mins and I'll have this sorted for you" and then nothing. 2 out of 5 reps have told me to go into JB and the other 3 have said they can do it. I am beyond confused and so fed up, it should not be this hard!

            • @sauce2k: Just spoke to JB in store, they said they have put it in and cannot do anything now - just have to wait, they think the delays from the servers down has caused a back-log.
              Went to Telstra store and spoke to people there. They cannot touch it and say that JB "have not submitted it".
              Went back to JB and asked if they have submitted it and they said they have and they cannot do anything on their end, it appears to be 'pending' - which is what it says at Telstra end too.

              Soooo I have no idea what to do next. I guess I will wait, but it seems my order is stuck in limbo.

                • @sauce2k: I have spoken to 5 different reps through the Telstra chat + went in store and spoke to a guy at Telstra. All have said they cannot do anything. Which is what I am also getting from JB. So, I am not sure whether I should wait a couple of days and see if it was just a back log of orders or try and somehow escalate the issue.

  • I signed up over the phone on Friday but have not received any email yet. Nothing at all. Anyone else?

    Over the years I have ported between Telstra and Optus (& resellers) - somehow whenever I port to Telstra it is always a giant mess. Last time my Sim wouldn't work for days and I had to get to a shop to get it rectified. Port to Optus: effortless.

    • I signed up in store on Friday (which didn't get put in until Saturday due to the servers down). You can read my experience so far above. Nothing has changed from there yet. Not happy.

    • I signed up over the phone on Friday. Received 3 emails from Telstra today.

      First was for signing up for online billing. Second, plan details & third, first bill estimate. $10 monthly credit is listed but yet to receive anything confirming additional 20GB per month.

      Haven't received the sim card yet either.

      • Good to hear. I still haven't received anything but assume they are working through their backlog. Will wait until Friday until I'll hit up their customer support.

  • My timeline:

    Signed the contract in a QLD shop on 2/10 @ 1700pm, got a new SIM card on the spot.
    Received the welcome email and SMS 5/10 @ 13:30, and at the same time my old SIM became SOS.
    Inserted the new SIM right away and got 'Telstra #stay safe' popped up on the screen.

    BTW, I did not contact anyone during the wait.

      • I waited patiently because I wished the could activate the plan rather later than sooner. As my lycaMobile recharge was still in effect till 29/10.

  • For me the process started last week and it wasn’t smooth until this afternoon everything is fixed now. I got the $800gc, and 2x $500gc. The sim stuff up wasn’t ideal but hey thanks for the free GC!

    • How many plans did you sign up to, to get 3 GC's!?

      • I signed up to $99 last week but I then subsequently cancelled. I paid a $200 ETC for this ( $600 win). Had to chat and bargain it down. If you intend to do this make sure first chat you downgrade to month to month with reduced ETC. then start another chat to cancel. If you cancel in the same chat I doubt you will get a reduced ETC.

        I signed up 2 $59/month one for me I was out of contract past few weeks! And my mum account which was out of contract a few months ago and I was waiting for a deal like this to pop up! She was on this same deal last year which they have out a free TV.

    • Yeah. I got through on Friday afternoon to place my order with the sales team, who captured on JB side but not Telstra systems as they were down.

      Still nothing - order hasn’t even been placed.
