  • Looks like a good deal. Does it need to be activated immediately ?

    • From the T&C: If you purchase a SIM Pack, you have 2 calendar years after the date of purchase to Activate your SIM, otherwise it will expire. If you purchase an eSIM, you have 1 calendar year after the date of purchase to Activate your eSIM, otherwise it will expire.

    • I even bought the pack directly from Felix, it was paid for weeks ago and it only activated today when I inserted the Sim into slot 2 of my phone.

    It's Vodafone network

    • +1

Yes, I have both, Vodafone's network is really bad compared to Optus.

      • +1

Obviously depends where you travel, in perth metro Voda works fine. I swap networks every month and while Voda is not the best (Telstra is), its perfectly fine for majority of people inc most of my family who use Voda NVMO without complaints. Its also getting the Optus rural network early next year.

      • Vodafone and Optus will be network sharing outside of capital city areas from January, so it will be much the same.

  • Its been in coles for $15 but only one month and referral bonus doesn't work if you buy in store. With cashback, if you can wait, online option seems better.

    • You can stack the referral code with the 50% off codes?

  • Weird setup for me.
Wanted a 2nd Sim to just use for the unlimited internet while in hotels and the like.
Thought I could setup an eSim as 2nd number but it just wouldn't work.
Went for a physical sim and luckily my mobile has second Sim slot.
So now will use primary Sim to "Sim slut" providers for a few months.
This month it looks like JB-HI-FIs 60Gb plan that's $13 from Coles right now us this months winner.

  • What is an "approved" customer? When existing customers beg or threaten to leave?

    • Existing customers won't get it, this is just to pull in new customers.

      • Can we leave and then rejoin the following month? Will that work? Always hate companies that never reward loyal customers. I'll even take a peanut

  • The speed cap of 20MBps is really bad. At that point, turn off your 5G to save battery and just use 4G.

    • It's not really bad, it's fine. You CAN turn off 5G though if you like. I've been using this service for 2 years and it streams 4k without a problem. Two of us use it instead of FTTP.

    • leaving 5g enables 1080p facetime and lower latency in congested areas

  • What's the deal with using this offer multiple times?

Either; same number, porting out and porting in

Or; different numbers for laptop internet, getting a new one every 3 months?

Or is it once per person based upon ID?

    • against TOS, they will find out.

      • Yeah okay, I'll wait until I really want to use it then, if it's only a one time deal

    • +1

I've used it for 3 years with probably 10 sims - no issues. I get a new number each time and just use it for internet.

      • Oh cool! Good to know, thank you

  • +2

The $10 offer for the first 3 months is amazing value as well.
Specifically handy for the excess data at 1.5mbps at no charge.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/877675

    • I'd rather play the extra $5 per month to get 20mbp. 1.5mbp is way too slow.

      • I'd rather play the extra $5 $10per month

1.5mbps refers to the speed once the utilised available data is exhausted. It has nothing to do with the speed of the available capped data, only the excess.

        • It's $15 if you stock up on Felix sims in store. And if you're just looking for the cheapest sim why not just sim swap? You can currently get 50gb boost sim for $2 after cashback.

          • @quill: keep the same number?

            Also: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16039126/redir

Your point was also on speeds.

            • @YoursTruly: Fair enough but that's only for 3 months max if you want to keep the number. And I feel that the cashback boost/amaysim sims come regularly enough get get it under $5/m.

Also I wasn't talking about the code to get it for $15. I had bought a few at Coles when it first started but it was also available at officeworks and Woolworths.

Also I mentioned the speed because you first mentioned the 1.5mbp as "specifically handy" which it kinda is, but having used it when Vodafone first introduced it on their prepaid, was too slow.

  • Been using it, same network coverage as Vodafone, perks being unlimited data and cheaper at $40/month, but if it increases in price, I'll switch for sure because the network is like super bad even in the areas they say they cover 100%, I get a single bar.

    • yep theres a few spots in my area where the network map shows full coverage but its bearly able to make calls. Ive contacted felix support many times but they always just say "our network is always improving, hopefully it goes better in the future" or somehting on thoes lines. I wonder if the deal with Optus will increase any coverage in cities where optus has good coverage and vodaphone had bad coverage

Been using this as my internet at home for about 9 months in an old phone. Works great for gaming and streaming in a small household

    • Ditto. Using it for two years.

      • I take it you're in good voda area. What sort of ping are you getting?

        • Averages 32 ms. I could switch to 5g though if I bought a 5g phone, and get a faster ping. This service is both 4G and 5G.

      • same, i also just keep swapping to a new sim every 3/4 months so it sticks at $20 lol

        • Can you do this as existing customer or register with different email?

          • @dingdong3000: same email, as long as your porting back in, new customer

  • So genuine question: what's the benefit of this deal when the following deal gives more data for cheaper

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/881470

    • +1
      1. Limited data is not more than unlimited, even with the speed differences
      2. Circles.Life are shit - I left them for felix
      • Sorry my bad, I didn't mean more data. Also thank you for telling me that Circles isn't good, did you just have bad reception with them or was their customer experience crap.

        • +1

Reception was worse than felix and their customer service was worse than their reception

    • circle at the moment only has 4G i think

  • For some reason, I could never get activation go through using their app.

  • 20Mbps is not unlimited.

    • +2

Unlimited mobile data not unlimited spedd.

      • ACCC are very specific. You can only call something unlimited if it is not limited in any way.

        • Or maybe in the ACCC viiew that by making the existence of the speed cap sufficiently prominent and clear to consumers rather than hidden in t&c's it gets pass.

        • Not true. It is what it says on the can, unlimited data.

        • its unlimited 20mbps internet. Its clear and no one with a brain is thinking its anything else

  • Used this for the last week or so for the unlimited data. Painfully slow but great reception.

  • Anyone used it in Ummmmerica? Specifically Vegas?

    • Nothing works well in Vegas during the big conferences, too many roamers for anyone to cope with. I used to do Comdex every year, always the same.

      • Looking late Jan?

        • Dunno what's on then, sorry.

    • Late reply but i did this for a bit, no issues roaming. Did swap to a local sim card from a company called Visible mobile in the USA. Unlimited data for $25 usd per month.

  • +1

Be aware, you cant stack the instore deal with this coupon code.

  • I have 2 of these
One runs my house and has over 1000gig a month (Mainly torrents and a few Netflix TV)

One runs my business and over 400 gig month. Mainly POS and security cameras.

Not perfect but great value for unplugged.

Have in old Optus Nokia 5G modems.

    • +1

Your service will be soon suspended if you use their SIM card in an unapproved device (the list can be found in the T&C). Last time they did it to me

      • +1

        Meanwhile!!! 2 years later!!!

      • Must be an unlucky case. Mine still works after 3+ years. Had various modems - Tenda 4G04, Tplink MR6400 and VX420-G2H, Huawei B818, Netgear M2, M6 and M6 Pro, Inseego MiFi X Pro 5G, ZTE MU5001 and currently an Inseego FX2000. Some were used only for a few days for testing purpose.

  • I havent changed sim in many years, if you can get the sim from coles it's better?

  • Just check my local Coles and they seem to be selling it for $15. And it looks to be the whole month according to the ticket. https://imgur.com/a/mj5KtLh

  • Still annoyed they raised the unlimited price from 30 to 40/month

    • From 35, but they grandfathered people in at 35.

    • 35 to 40. In all seriousness, im surprised they didnt raise it to 45 lol

  • Topcashback has $10 cashback on this deal. However the the code FELIX50 is not mentioned in their page. I doubt if I use the code it will void the cashback. Can anyone confirm ?
FYI my $10 cashback from August purchase was confirmed in topcashback.

  • For using this as internet service at home, do I just need to buy a 4G modem?

I casually remember someone said to me Felix will terminate the service if they found out you are using it in a modem, not a phone. Is that true?

I seems people here have used it for years without an issue.

    • Use an old 4G phone and either make it a hotspot or get an openWRT router and tether it via USB. I do the latter.
