  • what is the difference?

    • I don't know much, it was a present to my mom but Heavy Duty have bigger mixing bowl 4.83L, Deluxe bowl is around 2.4L
      and heavy duty is stronger.

    • +2

Heavy duty has a stronger motor and has an up/down bowl lift mechanism rather than the tilt head of the other model

    • +1

The standard is for cake mixes, pancake batter etc.
The heavy duty is for resin, concrete etc

  • Great price - I've got the heavy duty and recommend it

  • Thats a bargain for that model. Love my K5. Only bad thing i had happen was the bowl locator snapped just after one year of everyday use (one week out of warranty). Customer care is crap. Lucky i have a friend who re-welded it for me. Still an awesome mixer tho. I have no regrets. Deff get the bowl lift rather than tilt head.

  • we've had a k5 for many years now, it's OK, but i much prefer the Kenwood my mum had, that mixed much more thoroughly and evenly…

  • I'm sad that they have the 'Professional' model in Costco in the US for $300 :( wanted to buy one while we were there but it was too heavy…

Good price for it here though, RRP on their website is $895 for the Heavy Duty one

ahh I want one now, what colours did they have at Costco?

    • "wanted to buy one while we were there but it was too heavy…"

wouldn't have worked here anyway, they are 110v there and use a different frequency too…
not a good idea to buy anything with mains electric motors from the US

      • I was reading on whirlpool. You can use some sort of voltage transformer. People said it works fine

        • yes, but they are not cheap and don't look too good on your kitchen bench…

          http://www.tortech.com.au/stepdown.html

it probably won't convert the frequency though so the motor will have different speeds than it would in the US

        • Yeah I got the cheap kitchenaid from the US $160 i think and I bought a massive US stepdown transformer weighs 15kgs or so like the ones in the link below. I got it from Radio Parts in Melbourne. You have to look at the Output watts to match up the transformer. I got a bigger one because I had a few american appliances with different watt ratings…. anything with a heating element uses high watts. Yes the frequency is different in OZ 60 vs 50. Out kitchenaid still works fine and have been using it for over a year I havent noticed the speed varying. However we had an orange juicer which would work very erratically as it operated…ended up buying a cheapo that works fine.

  • Is it a KPM50 for $699?

    • The Heavy Duty I bought was KPM5 for $699

      • For home use, the Artisan range is better. The KPM5 takes too much unnecessary space.

  • I cant upload receipt. but here is the link http://upload.ozbargain.com/2011/11/08/7123_20111108_104901.…
