KitchenAid stand mixer or Kenwood Kitchen Machine?

Today's deal post for the KitchenAid Mixer reminded me about coming to a decision soon about a Kenwood kitchen machine - the KMM770 in particular.

I know that people who own KitchenAid mixers generally swear by them, and people who own Kenwood love them too. Being an OzBargainer, naturally one would want value for money, and at first glance, the Kenwood KMM770 has a powerful motor (1200W), and blender and meat mincer attachments for around $650 (there is also a cashback offer from Kenwood that gives $50 cashback on top of that). A KitchenAid mixer at the $600+ mark seems to offer around 300W.

However, raw power is not everything, so I'm interested to know what people who have used BOTH brands of mixers think about them, especially for baking. If you think one is better than the other, please give reasons. Thanks!

My mum had her 1st Kenwood for over 20 years and it was great…

My wife and I got a KitchenAid about 10 years ago, because it looked good and people were raving about them back then…

After many years of use, i much prefer the Kenwood. It mixes better, more evenly and you hardly have to scrape down the sides (which you often have to do with the KitchenAid)… Nothing comes close to the Kenwood K beater…

If i was getting a new one now, I'd probably go with the Kenwood…

My main deciding factors would be to get one with a big strong motor and a big bowl to get through dough well…

Was looking for a new Kenwood for mum recently… Billy Guyatts seemed to have the best prices, hoping to get a Good-guys price match when we go to buy one…

    • Awesome, thanks heaps JV. Yeah I did read those reviews from productreview.com.au too. It's very useful to hear from someone like yourself who has used both brands.

JV, In case you haven't already got one, I got the KMM770 from my local Retravision for $635, cheaper than Billy Guyatts even before shipping is added, so you should be able to get a good price somewhere. With the $50 cashback offer on at the moment, brings it down to under $600.

The box was huge. 16.9 kgs worth. Great that this model came with blender/mincer/flexi beater attachments included, unlike the previous KM006.
