The exception being overseas spending. This is far and away the best card for that (except the $10k cap).

If you have a lot of expenses in other currencies (business ad spend for example) this card is legendary.

Save 3.5% on fees and earn 3 points.

  • Average card, I'd avoid as there are much better on the market.

You would think they would up the card game with all the bnpl deals popping up

  • This offer seems been extended for couple times now.

  • whats it mean by no international fee? no international transaction fee or withdrawal?

  • Avoid.

  • Never had a CBA card before. Interested in this to cash in on some free gift vouchers as flying takes a back step.

Anyone have much experience with how hard CBA are in their credit assessments? Eg. Are they Amex (Free and easy) or Citibank (painful and harsh)?

  • $480 credit at myer for example. Although I'm not sure what denominations are available as I don't have a login.. You might get stuck with $400, $450 or $470.

  • Can I cancel it after getting the points?

    Avoid..

I just switched to normal award card.
I used to had platinum award card with special annual fee and i cant get it back..

    It is a trap

    • True that, I am staying on mine, not going to switch. But they keep sending the upgrade letters, wasting paper, losers.

  • I've got the platinum card, which they upgraded for free a few years' ago. Back then it was good value as they linked it to an Amex card where you would get double the points. Since the Royal Commision into banking the perks have certainly dried up. Much harder to spend enough to justify the annual fee of $119. Probably need to spend about 25 000 a year now whereas before it was more like 20 000 or even less.

But I am well ahead with the free travel insurance with overseas holidays, which a lot of cards offer - obviously not now - but I have saved well over $1000 on insurance over about 7 months worth of international travel.

  • How much is 100K points? Can I convert into cash or Woolworths Giftcard?

    • $500 coles/Woolies gift card comes to 105,000 points or around $350 cash back.

  • Would this be free if you have wealth package with CBA?

  • This deal seems to have a few haters but it seems okay for me. I'm on waiting period with Westpac, St George, Citi, Amex, Kogan, ANZ. Can't see why not churn this for copes $500 gift voucher and cancel after 2-3 months?
Even if got stung with a $35 fee still minimum $400 in front…

    • how was your experience? I'm also on waiting periods so thinking of given this card a go.

      • I actually forgot about it, thanks for reminder I'm actually looking for something now. Will let you know…

        • no worries, I might sign up over the weekend.

@aneil915: I got so confused between this one and the ANZ finder deal which was $500 gift card no fee. I've just completed that one and ready for new one, so you message is perfect timing!

  • Asking the community with regards to the international transaction fee, is it different from latitude 28 degrees where they use the mastercard rate of the day? I'm thinking of consolidating the 2 cards I have. If it does then its ok, otherwise the latitude 28 card remains in my pocket. That card had saved thousands of dollars over the years for a lot of people

Am waiting on final approval for this card - once I've got it, I can test it and report back as to what rate I got.

Would like to know as well… some banks set their own foreign exchange fees, some use the mastercard rate. Just want to be wary of which one for CommBank.

I did a ~$300 USD payment on 28/9/20, and was charged EXACTLY what this website says.. so I believe thats the mastercard rate.

        https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/personal/get-support/convert…

        Pretty happy with it actually.

        • Thanks man for the info. That is actually really good. I crossed checked OANDA and that mastercard site and entered usd$300 and on that date and its only a few dollars more expensive.

  • Apart from the St George one that is ending soon (not risking it as it finishes in 7 days) and Westpac, this is probably the only other ok one with Qantas points at the moment. $30 if I could keep it up the $2500 threshold for 3 months… hmm

    40K Qantas or 50k Velocity…

    • Can anyone say from experience how long it takes before the points are actually paid after hitting the spend requirements?

      • According to the fine print it will be within 90 days of meeting the spend criteria. Ive already hit it but the bonus points have not come yet. Will play the waiting game.

        • Have you been credited your bonus points yet networks919?

          • @aneil915: Yep, all good now. Got the 100k points and swept it over to Qantas. Bonus points showed up on my 3rd statement, as I barely spent over $2500 each statement.

  • Signed up on 7/02/2021 and was conditionally approved at the time.I was fully approved on the 11th I think. Received my card today which isn't too bad given the VIC lockdown during this time.

    • Update. I was awarded my 100,000 bonus points less than 10 days after meeting the $5k spend. Great experience and no issues.

Very happy I decided to try this card even though there was some negative feedback.

  • Does Commbank partner with any other FF apart from Qantas and Virgin? Found it. The one that looks remotely appealing would be the Aisa Miles with Cathay.
