Better off spending a bit more and trying to get an Optus 4g modem router with 4 ethernet ports. Any of the Huawei ones from the past 2-3 years will be much faster than this one.
How does this compare with the Netgear M1
M1 kills this. I believe that with a 300mbps rating this modem is only CAT4 which means in reality you'll get ADSL speeds probably
This one is a bit expensive. I got a near new Huawei B818 (Optus) for $100 from gumtree which is too good.
I did the same best one I ever had
What's wrong with these cheaper alternatives ? Or am I missing something ?
- Optus 4G Wifi Modem
- Vodafone 4G Wifi Modem
- Teslstra 4GX Wifi Modem I bought this one for 10 bucks, and got unlock code from ebay for 3 bux. This now work with any operator.
These kind of devices usually have user limits of about 5-10.
Those devices are N150 or less, so as a household router the TP-link is better. It also has the LAN ports and much better frequency support. The firmware is also more suited, and the number of connected devices is higher. The external wifi antenna will mean better coverage for a home.
But the items you listed are portable.
These are not great 4g routers. Better out there for sure.
Why would anyone pay over $100 for a 10 year old tech item?
