  • Not worth giving away my date of birth for a $28 watch.

    • +5

      a $2.80 watch

      FTFY.

    • +4

worth giving away my date of birth

Begs the question why you would use your actual date of birth instead of a random (and ideally more. flattering) one?

    • Cadbury already has it. They have files on everyone.

  • +1

"Exact model of fitness band may vary from image" :)

  • +1

Looks like a Xiaomi Mi Band 4

    • Agreed

    • Definitely. The question is whether that's actually the one they're giving away or it's just for the promo shot.

If that's the case, it's a good watch. Existing owners might even just want the purple band, haha.

    • +4

It will be Mi Band 4 clone, like this one….

      https://m.aliexpress.com/item/4001129303921.html

  • +4

Dont usually associate fitness with chocolate… probably need to monitor the health of the consumer to ensure they maintain wellness on diet of chocolate

    • +4

Screen goes red when your heart has stopped letting you know it's time to call an ambulance

  • How exactly do they make the link between chocolate and a fitness band… I mean who in marketing thought this made sense?

    • +1

As qtvinsta said above, I presume these bands will report back activity data to Cadbury.

      • +4

Very unlikely, its probably just an act of virtue signalling that Cadbury can be enjoyed as part of a healthy lifestyle or some BS like that.

    • +1

You must have missed the campaign against sugar & obesity!

It's the usual defence against their product leading to obesity - blame weight gain on the consumers' lack of exercise.

By providing this incentive to exercise & track it - it absolves them of blame. And may reduce calls for a tax on sugar!!
      Pure PR.

And Marketing - it counters defence by parents that chocolate is bad for their children - "but we will burn it off if only we had a Cadbury fitness band"!

    • Probably similar to the old Benson & Hedges/ cricket association

  • rrp$28

    About AUD$5 on Ali.

  • +2

Looks like the M4 band (Mi Band 4 clone). Available for less than $7.50 on eBay

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/M4-Smart-Band-Watch-Bracelet-Wri…

    Probably even cheaper on AliExpress

  • +1

Not including Coles online and Coles express

Victorian Mondelez (Cadbury) marketing team in full action promoting in-store purchase only - (239 covid cases today) nice work.

  • At least their Caramilk is back again, soo yum.

  • Merged from Cadbury Smart Watch Promo

Anyone knows what brand smart watch are they giving out on buying 3x cadbury bars?

    Looks like a mi band

  • I always thought Talking Heads were a smart band.

  • +1

Anyone want to share a digital receipt 🤓🤓

    • -3

here you go, i just got this off google images and they accepted my claim. i just copied the number 1 and moved it to the current date so it is during a valid time lol

  • +2

    re what smartwatch
    the FAQ says
Install the watch app on your phone through scanning the below QR Code or directly through the app store, depending on your phone.
    That QR code goes to

    https://fitpro.jusonsamrt.com/public/fitpro_download.html

is that a generic software for smart watches or would be a specific one?

  • i just submitted a screenshot of a reciept with nothing on it and they validated and accepted it, free watch i guess

    • +1

Either you were lying or lucky as I did the same, got an email 2 days later that my application has been denied as there is no receipt etc.

      • same result as you haha

      • im not sure, i got accepted and they shipped it. the reciept i used was this https://i.imgur.com/OdvnRQc.png which i got off google

        • +1

This still has the Cadbury products on them, i think you misled the above people when you said "with nothing on it".

        • Wish I could downvote this….thanks mate for ruining the promo for honest people who actually purchased items several days before the promo ended.

    • -1

Yeah thanks for ruining the promo for everyone else. Meanwhile - someone had used my receipt no. (could have been a Coles employee even after reprinting the receipt after seeing I purchased 3 Cadbury items .) THANKS

      • The reciept I had used dated back 10 or so days. I changed the date and the reciept doesn't even show an number… The watch was useless anyways, it constantly disconnects on iOS and resets once it goes flat..

  • The Cadbury I bought from Coles had typo in their system - printed on receipt as Cabbury !! Let's see how the validation goes.

    • Cabbury has a Giraffe and a Half in a 200g Block…

  • +1

Looking at the images more closely, and looking at the comparison in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxJteZKdZZA (notice the Mi Band 4 has 6140 steps, the M4 Band has 6410 steps, the same as the Cadbury image) It is definitiely the rip-off clone M4 Band they are giving away. For $1.50 (buy 3 Chomps or Curly Wurly's on special) still worth giving it a try.

    • It is definitiely
As the promotion states - "Exact model of fitness band may vary from image".
So not worth the effort trying to track down model in image, as may receive a very different one.
Submitted my form for the mystery band.

    • It is now $2 to buy the chocolates

      • $2? Chomps or Curly Wurly are 50c each, so $1.50.
        And 50g Crunchy & 39g Twirl are 85c each.
Bought, submitted, accepted & approved yesterday.

    • +1

      It is M3

  • Well, bought some share packs of freggo frogs for the kids this morning (on sale @ $3.50 a bag), submitted the claim and was approved in an hour or so.

  • +1

I just recieved my watch yesterday. No charging cable included in the pack, so I can't use it.
Have emailed the support address but no response yet.
Shame really - looked like a reasonable device.

    • +2

Maybe there is no cabling charge? Normally you should expose the band from the screen and usb port revealed for charging.

    • +1

Did you get any response from them? I have also emailed them a week ago to resubmit receipt and no reply.

      • +1

Yeah same here. Lost in space I guess.

        • No response….looks like someone had used the reciept no. on my reciept. Said it wasn't valid.

          Sounds about right….literally no response….

          • +1

@NeoFlexBench: Tried to put 0 as suffix, may work

            • @yht: Yeah complete scam - and then people who actually didn't buy (something just Googled a random receipt) and then it gets accepted and they get a free watch….

Thanks guys for taking one of the 25,000 without doing actually doing anything - a stain on decent humanity.

            • @yht: I just increase my receipt number by 1

    • I thought you said "Not worth giving away my date of birth for a $28 watch." how did you receive it so quickly? The promo ends on 22nd July

      • I " may" have used a more flattering birthdate.
Dunno why it came so fast - maybe a good postal service?

  • -4

Can anyone share a recent receipt

    • Really? It's $1.50

      • -4

Don't really have a need to go out of the house and just for some chocolate?

        • I can understand that, but there's a difference between getting a bargain and freeloading. These M4 smart bands can be had for US$4 on Aliexpress, and with the US$3 off deal you would be getting one delivered for just US$1.

[I didn't neg you by the way]

  • +1

Mine arrived today. It's an M3 smart band with purple strap. Here is a photo.

    • So it is M3 and not M4

      • Yep

      • As promo stated "Exact model of fitness band may vary from image"
May be more than 1 model / colour available. I wonder what mine will be…

        • Received dispatch email with tracking number for the mystery band.
          Please not Purple!

          • +2

@INFIDEL: T&Cs at the bottom of the promo page say they’re all purple. I reckon we’re all getting purple.

            • @Chickenleg: No!!
purple colour, one size fits most
Well should have expected that from the land of purple at Cadbury! 💜
Now how much does a replacement band cost…

  • Anyone know the difference between M3 and M4? I got dispatch email with tracking # today

    • +1

Not much use knowing as you get what they send you! Seems much the same.
      https://youtu.be/50a3Bi_N70E

      • Thanks.

        • See you with your Smartband on the streets of Brissie! Mine's on it's way there as well.

Hope you like Cadbury PURPLE! 💜
purple colour, one size fits most

          • @INFIDEL: Hehe .. this would be more like a toy rather than anything useful! Let's see.

  • Which is the correct Android app to install?

Setting up an M3 smart watch with an Android phone suggested "SmartWatch" by lday, but comments recommend Yoho Sports.

  • My wife and I just received our 2 x M3 smartbands

I had high hopes for it but it was free so cant really compare it to other smartbands on the market
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000383325916.html

I also noticed that unlike the other M3 clones, it has a built in charger (no cable) meaning it would be very hard to find a replacement band.

      Update:

Looks like these are the bands here. Black, Red and Navy Blue
      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33037620480.html

    • +1

Was searching & you beat me😉
Pity a replacement band will cost as much as this device cost!

This smart band can be found online (search "mdlz318 m3 smart watch").
      eg Video

    • compare it to other smartbands on the market

Even brand name bands have their major problems…
Recently bought the Samsung Galaxy Fit Activity Tracker. Returned as unreliable (failed to record any steps one day, but recorded the distance walked as an exercise in Activity!), & inaccurate (recorded 14 hours slept per day, even after set to lowest activity level, Fitbit accurately recorded 7hr).

Have been using basic Fitbit Flex & Flex2 24/7 for up to 4 years - accurately enough recording steps & sleep (no HR or display beyond some LEDs). Were free in UTAS course in Deal here. But batteries & bands are coming to end of use. Handy to compare with other bands like this.

Don't expect much from this & you won't be disappointed!

Although I have paired this band with the app, still have to get it operating fully (dim screen, no HR, etc). Will have to read the fine print in the "manual".

  • Arrived this morning in Brisbane.
On charge on an old powerbank, as I am out. Unusually, it plugs straight into a USB-A socket. But that makes removing it from the band difficult.

  • +2

    Setting up the smart band:
Download fitpro app (1st option for Android, 3rd for iOS)
    Pair band
Set up quickly for me on Android.

For choice of 3 basic watch faces
(2 versions add steps to time & date, 1 version 12hr, others 24hr)
Step through (short press) on button on Band to MORE, select with long press, then to THEMES, select with long press, step through options, select face with long press

    In App:
    Click on Set
Turn on / off BRIGHT SCREEN - turns screen on when raise or rotate wrist

Heart Rate only operates when selected on band or app. Takes 1min. Displays Pulse, Blood Pressure, & SpO2 (dissolved oxygen). Yet to check first 3 against BP Monitor.

3 exercise modes - select within MOTION on Band:
    Step
    Skip
    Sit-up

    Sleep mode:
Seems to only trigger after 10PM!
Only registers with min of 3 or 4 hours sleep.
Will test tonight & compare with old Fitbit I know is accurate.

Unfortunately, can't find any setting for brightness of display. Level is barely visible inside, dim even at night, useless outside unless well shaded.
So won't be of much use to see time etc.

A basic band with a few nice features (HR) for a cheap device. But only of use if accurate & reliable. And difficult to read with such a dull screen.
    BUT it was effectively free.

    • +1

I would echo most of your review. The only difference with mine is the display brightness is perfectly fine both indoors and outside - in fact I would say too bright for indoors.

Also, regarding the battery, after a full charge I got less than 24 hours use before it died. I checked my HR a dozen times just mucking around so that didn't help battery life, but still… less than 24hours battery life ☹

I'm glad it only cost a total of $1.50 because it was a bit of a test for me to see if I wanted to have a smart band, and if I decide to have a more permanent one then I would splash out on a Mi Band 4
