  • 13 Day battery life, that's a claim and a half.

    • +5

It's a fitness tracker with a custom OS, that's pretty standard. The Xiaomi Band 9 Pro claims 21 days. Honor Band 9 claims 14 days.

      • +1

Yeah right, been a while since i've looked into smart watches. Might be time to pull the trigger. Can't think of anything worse then charging it daily.

        • +1

Do keep in mind it's much more limited than say a Pixel watch or Galaxy Watch (which last 1-2 days).

Can't download new apps, send proper replies to messages, use Google Pay etc

But does the basic stuff like notifications, basic fitness tracking, music controls. That's all I personally need so I've got a Huawei GT2 which I charge once a fortnight.

        • I'm using it right now and I only need to charge it once per week. It's perfect for a no-frills smart watch.

        • If you just have it as a plain watch, I think it could easily last a week (maybe more).
If you use sleep monitoring it will drain much faster (checks oxygen all night).
If you have continuous heart rate monitoring on, that will shorten it a bit.

I've got everything on and it lasts about 4 days.

    • +1

I have this and while its definitely nowhere near 14 days, the charging time itself seems very quick. I haven't timed it but I'd estimate about 30 mins.

      • Is it wireless charging

        • +2

No. Comes with its own charging cable which has a magnetic thing that attaches to the back of the watch. Bit annoying as it is the only cable you can use. But it's super fast to charge.

    • I've got this and with always on display on i think I got 3 or 4 days. With no AOD I don't think it's an absurd claim.

  • +1

Thanks got one with TGG 90 days TGG

  • is it worth it ?

    • +4

Absolutely. You won't find better value from a fitness tracker.

  • -6

It's not Round, so a No.

    • +1

      but it's thick.

    • I'm the opposite. I will only buy square smartwatches.

      • I was surprised that it's more rectangular than it is square, feel like the packaging captures it at a very specific angle lol

  • +4

Great watch. Much better than the Charge 6 I replaced it with. Perfect shape, beautiful screen, great battery life, comfortable band and user-friendly OS. Absolute no-brainer at this price.

    • +1

I've got a charge 6. What benefits does this have over it? Curious on whether I should buy?

  • +1

    But can it tell time?

  • +3

    These are fantastic

    • Just wondering are you using a Sammy phone/device ? From all the stuff I've seen they only work when paired with Sammy devices.

      • I used an HMD Pulse and it was just annoying having to install 3 things from the play store to get it running. During setup it opened a few play store links to download more things.

    • can it be used just as a standalone watch, no sync with phone nor any tracking features?

      • +2

Yes, after the first-time setup with a phone. However, you'll lose a lot of key features as the phone does a lot of the lifting.

An example as the Fall Detection feature, where the watch will connect to your phone to make a call.

  • anyone know if syncing with you phone is easy? i've had terrible experiences with trying to get fitbit wearable to sync (in order to set the time).

    • +4

Yes, but I have a Samsung Galaxy S21. Your experience may vary with your Android phone.

  • Does this thing has functionality of a Samsung tag?
    Thanks

    • Your watch can tell your Samsung (Android?) phone to start beeping to let you know where it is (assuming inside bluetooth range but not where you thought you left it).

On my phone, Samsung Galaxy Wearable app lets me get the watch to vibrate.

Desktop [https://smartthingsfind.samsung.com/](Samsung Smart Things Find) shows location and will let me vibrate the watch, activate lost mode, erase data.

      I just checked my mobile:
      - Samsung SmartThings app: it's already under my Personal Devices.
      - Find app:
. it was already listed under my devices
. location was not shown, and clicking on search etc didn't seem to be able to find it
      . I updated the app
. after 5 or so minutes, it now shows the fit location and has the options to vibrate and refresh. It doesn't have the point at and try to locate option.

Also remember the Fit 3 doesn't have a speaker. You may be able to hear it vibrating but it's not quite the same as a Smart Tag 2

  • +3

Honestly I like this more than my SS Apple watch (yes moved to SGS25 ultra at the same time).
The battery life is amazing, 4 days with EVERYTHING on.
Its small and light and sssoo cheap.
Same fitness and health bits, sleep works well.
Looking to move my wife back to Android just to get her one of these.

    • -8

Looking to move my wife back to Android just to get her one of these.

      Dont do it.
She was telling me yesterday how much she hates android and prefers apple

  • +1

I got this during the last deal and yes you can get 13 days when most features are disabled. Raise wrist to wake, sleep oxygen detection and snoring detection are some of the features I disabled to test battery life and did manage to squeeze 13 days out of it. Heart rate detection was less accurate compared to Charge 6 and GW7 but can't complain at this price. Does feel lighter and more comfortable than GW7. Great value if you don't want GPS, NFC, AOD or answering phone calls.

    • Just charge while taking a shower (say 15 mins a day) and it shouldn't run low with everything on

  • Just returned my fit3 2 days ago to officeworks from last sale of $72. Lucky enough it was just under 30 days and they did accepted the return. Reason being it only last 6 days even with the AOD off. With AOD only last around 3 days. Which is not much better than the watch 5 pro and missing out some much functions (taking phone call, wifi connection while the watch is far away from the phone, fully customisable watch face). Later on lucky enough again picked up a brand new watch 5 pro for $200 and very happy with it.

  • How does the fall detection work on this watch?

    • +13

It's got manual fall detection - if it falls you have to check the screen for cracks

    • +2

If it detects a hard fall, a message will pop up saying "hard fall detected, swipe to cancel emergency call", where it'll do so automatically if it's not switched off within 1 minute (or so).

    • +2

Won't connect on the left either

    • I think once you choose an iOS device you've made your bed

  • -2

This would be tempting but Samsung has an appalling track record with privacy, no way in hell they're monitoring my health data.

    • Yeah and Huawei also get your data whilst running Android OS! Is the data going to Google or Samsung/Huawei??? Who in their right mind would value your data? Are you Trump's secret family?

      • First of all, "Who in their right mind would value your data?" - unless you're totally naive, insurance companies and people trying to sell medical/health products would be very interested in your fitness/sleep data.

As for Huawei, where did I suggest them? Do some reading. Garmin and Apple both have reasonably good privacy policies.

Samsung's lust for spying on you is well documented. Have a look at some discussions about how many times their devices phone home per hour to transmit data. To turn your questions around, why would they be doing that if your data was not valuable?

  • The only thing I don't like about this watch is the design of the band, although I can see the logic behind it.

    • Yeah the band is sort of hard to put on. I'm looking for a replacement band with an easier mechanism

      • You can definitely get adaptor pieces off Ali Express to use an 18mm watch band.

Possibly you can also get cases to pop your Fit 3 into, and the case comes with the regular watch band attachments (wasn't sure when looking at this).

I found after a few presses of the band eject button, it got much easier as I got the hang of it.

  • +1

    Thanks Op. Bought one.

  • I only need it to when I go for a run. I don't want to keep my phone with me. Can it measure the distance, heart rate , steps etc if I keep the phone at home?

    • +5

      No, has no gps

    • Heart rate yes
It can tell you what it thinks your steps are, though I don't know how accurate that is.
It might tell you distance but without your phone, that'll be more of a guesstimate.

It can sync what it stores about your workout, when you get home.

It doesn't give you call ability.
It doesn't give you any sms capability without the phone being nearby.

  • You can get $10 discount with new Big W account (but have to add something cheap to go over $75).

  • +4

Thanks. Bought one for each wrist

  • For those of you using.. how good is that.. easy to view WhatsApp, SMS easily? Can use nfc or reply or call via it? I'm currently using Fitbit inspire 2

    • This is for people who want something that's more of a watch than a phone duplicate. It will help with your phone.

      No NFC chip.
      No microphone.
      No sim card slot.
      No camera.

Recent notifications are shown with the app logo and name. The first line or so from the notification.

SMS shows up on the full screen. Maybe 1.5 screens worth (you can swipe). Images are not displayed, just the word image.
It gives you the option to "show on phone" or reply (picking from your customisable list of SMS's like, thanks, yes, no, call you later, or whatever you add to the 15 or so choices). It gives you a quick inidication is it something to deal with now, later or ignore.

It can do heart rate and it can work with your phone for sleep monitoring, rejecting calls with sms, replying to sms from customisable lists.

  • Anybody knows how this compares to the amazfit band series or the xiaomi bands? Whilst all their claimed battery life seem to be abit of an exaggeration, the few comments and posts I've seen about this is battery would be lucky to get 4-5 with AOD on - I swear the old xiaomi band 8 I had (though died within 12 months) was at least able to get me 7-8 days.

    • If you turn on AOD, it switches between full mode and AOD.

AOD mode, it just shows the time, maybe the red dot (meaning you have recent notifications) and maybe one icon (not sure how it selects between media playing, and timer).

With that turned on (and all the other big drains turned off), I'm not sure how long you can get.

I know with the other big drains turned on (sleep monitoring = constant oxygen monitoring + talking to the phone, constant heart rate monitor), I get about 4 days. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets 7-8 days with those things turned off and AOD on.

But are you looking for a watch or trying to say you are still fond of your old xiaomi band 8?

      • +1

Looking for a replacement. I usually run aod, notifications and sleep monitoring. Don't really use the HR. I use a Samsung phone so I suspect there might be synergies there. Battery life is important, main reason I haven't been looking at a full blown smart watch

        • +1

I find sleep monitoring works better, if you activate sleep mode from your watch when going to sleep. (Tells it you are going to sleep now, no need for the phone to wait until your heart rate has slowed for sleep etc)

I forgot to say, AOD it doesn't use the entire screen. Just shows the bits I mentioned above and the rest is black.

    • +2

Just stick it on the charger for 15mins every few days while taking a shower or whatever and all will be well even with all functions on.
Actual time between charges will be different for all depending on setup/use.
Personally I have most functions turned off and mainly use for notifications, media player, step counters and other misc things (Timers, stopwatch etc). I got around 9+ days and still had 10% left before charging. Also comes down to how often you have have screen lit up. Mine is set to only display when I double tap.

    • Mi band 9 easily lasts like 12 to 14 days from my experience

      • Probably best stick to Mi-band if duration is the most important thing for your needs. The Fit3 is decent enough though for a cheapie. :-)

  • Got it in the previous deal. Great looking watch, but sadly could not use it for my son as samsung does not allow underage child accounts online. I only have a samsung note 10 and apparently only from s23 we can add child accounts as family. Gutted

    • Can you give your son an adult account as the watch doesn't really let him browse the internet etc? Say that he is an adult son

  • -3

    Not water proof.? No buy

    • Says up to 1.5m for 30 minutes. Fine for the shower, probably wouldn't swim at the beach

    • @pvl - It says in the booklet that you can use it while swimming "so long as it's not too deep"

I've done several swims of 30 mins or more with mine, at the surface and at the bottom of the swimming pool.

I selected swimming workout, which also kicked in the waterlock (stops it thinking the water is touching it), and it counted laps, heartbeat, etc.

I've also subjected it to hand wash, water, body wash … it's going great.
