I've been looking around for Xiaomi Mi Band 9 and bumped into this deal in Amazon AU but sold via Amazon JP.

I think it's a good price but what I'm not sure of whether this is considered global version?

I posted it as a deal because I think it's a decent price (not the cheapest)..

Other colours are available for slight difference in price

I think the samsung for 60 that was on recently is a good option and better scosystem. Xiaomi apps feel like an afterthought although I havent used their stuff for quite a while.

    • +11

Nah the app is spot on works for me every time

    • samsung doesnt pair with iOS sadly

    • you seem to be a bot out of touch. The app works great no issues there

The "Active" model is the budget version.

LCD and no Always on Display are dealbreakers for me.

Personally I'd get the regular version or Pro from Aliexpress.

    • +2

      Thanks. Didn't know about that.

    • +7

The regular 9 is around this price on AliExpress after cashback/coupons. The Active version is closer to a 4 year old model.

I have the 9 Pro and it was around $65 on the AliExpress sale a few days ago.

      • +1

Yeah the Active is more for kids I think.

      • Link for the pro please?

        • +1

I've got the 8 Pro. Can't recommend a seller for the 9 Pro sorry.

      • The Active version is closer to a 4 year old model.

No it isn't. The Pro came out 29 October 2024 and the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Active on 18th November 2024

I thought that the active was the better model since it was newer but I was wrong.
I previously had a Band 5 but after 3 years the battery was degrading quickly.
So I switched to Active 9 for around $50 and find it much better.
The only problem I've got with the Xiaomi Band 9 Active is the replacement watch bands are expensive and very limited.
I could get a pack of 10 bands for the Mi Band 5 for around $1 per band.
The Active bands are upwards of $10.

        • There's plenty on aliexpress

I have some $3 bands for my active 8, they've been perfectly fine.

          • @freefall101: I was getting the 10 packs from Amazon- so shipping was 1-3 days max.
The Active 9's strap seems way more sturdy.
Lost the black plastic clasp a few times on my Mi Band 5 and the plastic end loop part broke off on a couple straps- hence the need for the 10 pack.

Thanks for the link. $3ea is a lot cheaper than Amazon's price.

Samsung Fitbit 3 is better ?

    • +4

except Fit3 does not work with iOS

    • +1

If you have Galaxy device integrated better, but sleep tracking is not that advanced. I prefer the Amazfit Band 7 for sleep & battery (for only $45 1.5y ago)

  • Does this track my steps and heart rate better than the really really old band I have?

    • +1

Depends what the really old band is?

  • +1

I have one. I find it quite good. Long battery life. O2 is reasonably accurate. Steps good. Pulse good. Sleep quality has a plan I don't fit, but I can see the logic. I did have 8Active and the screen came loose and it then died. Hoping it doesn't happen with this.

    • When you say "long battery life" - how often are we talking ? Can it last a week without having to charge?

      • 1 lifetime

      • Mine lasts 5 days I use it for running and it does charge up quick so very good

      • +2

I have the Mi Band 9.

My average recharge is once a month.

Note: It's on 'tap to wake' mode.

      • Depends on settings, with constant Pulse and O2 monitoring I get at least a week and if I completely disable Sleep and Stress monitoring and put the screen to on-demand it extends the battery to about 3 weeks.

This is for the Band 9 standard model (the Active is junk) and it will vary depending if you use active tracking of any sports. Cost $50 on Aliexpress.

  • Any thoughts on the Redmi Watch 5 Lite? Any good? Been watching that one

    • +3

Yes, it's good. My other half has it. I have the 8 Pro. The Watch 5 Lite can take calls and the call quality is crystal clear. The 8 Pro does not have this.
I have not worn it together with my 8 Pro to check them against each other during a run.
The Watch 5 Lite battery also last longer then the 8 Pro but that could be due to different use cases between the 2 of us.

What is great about both watches is he ability to sound the phone to find it even if the phone was in vibrate mode. really handy when we forget where we left our phones.

And both watches have GPS so don't need to carry my phone during outdoor activities.

      • +1

So Xiaomi Redmi Watch for $63.73 from Amazon Japan seems like a great deal then with a much larger display and GPS.
Being able to answer phone on watch via Bluetooth seems like a bonus but does have limitations.
I mean no one really goes out without their phone but when you just want to go for a casual run around the block and not want to put your bulky phone in your running shorts- it doesn't work.
Then again, why would you want to answer your phone in the middle of a run?

        • No idea about the Redmi Watch but I was referring to the Redmi Watch 5 Lite
Edit: having looked closer at the listing, in the Technical Details, it is showing as Redmi Watch 5 Lite. So yea, same thing, and about $14 cheaper. Get it :D

As for answering calls during a run, not sure. But there are probably other use cases where someone might want to answer a quick call without pulling their phone out. In any case, the feature is there

      • Does it work well with iOS devices? Like to replace my mum's old Fitbit Charge 2.

        • +1

Sorry, I don't know. We only have Google Pixels.

Love the name. The electric & orange man bad squad downvoting as they do getting offended.

        • +6

im just downvoting you because you're not funny

        • Nah no need to blame your pagan gods for your mistakes. That's just cowardice.

Band 9 Pro looks really nice - hopefully we get a global version

    • Wife uses the 8 Pro which has been pretty good.

"Version nine brings an 18% bigger battery than its predecessor, bumping the expected standby from two weeks to 21 days. The screen has kept its size and resolution, but it's now twice as bright as the older model. Xiaomi also added a linear vibration motor for more pleasant haptics."

Bigger battery and double the brightness looks good on the 9 Pro though.

  • +3

Get the pro version which has build in GPS

    • Wrong one I thought this is Huawei.

  • Any one using these with iOS. What's the experience like ?

    • Not the active but a mi band 8 pro on iOS. Fantastic watch. Battery life taken a hit but will most likely get the Mi Band 10 later this year. app is decent and the hardware is tracking things.

  • Great watch, got one for my 8yo on AliExpress for around the same price. Way better than a vivofit which is twice the price.

Can send a text via his iPad at school and he gets the text on the watch. He can't reply but it does have messaging capability so its a decent option. Heart rate works ok, can also be used as a remote to trigger photos on ipad. For the price its an excellent watch.

    • Not being able to reply/answer a SMS or phone call via the watch is probably the most frustrating part for me.
Still need to pull out the phone for that.

  • Can this one measure how far you've walked?

  • Anyway to make NFC payments on these watches?
