The high end pet food is made with high quality meat.

Better quality meat than spam, actually.

  • Spam fries is pretty good if you have not tried one.

  • Does amazon ever price match spam? Don't feel like going in to buy 100 cans of spam lite, spam turkey, spam hot and spicy and such

Local Coles had no spam left on the shelf

    • +21

im sorry, but if u knuckle down and work hard, soon u might be able to move to a suburb where no one even touches the spam on the shelf.

A high income won’t help you when the apocalypse comes. You’ll be trading your wife in for a couple of tins of spam.

        • +6

1 tin is a fair trade for my wife

          • @chumlee: Well I'm still going to wait till I only have to pay half price for my spam before I commit so pick up Wednesday fine?
She will need to come with her own toilet paper though.

          • @chumlee: Why didn’t you post this as a deal?

      • lifegoals

  • It's coronatime!!

  • Don't special start Wednesday?

used to make spam and egg breakfast muffins when i was a kid, great stuff

  • Those 400ml sistema klip it rectangular containers fit perfectly for any leftover spam you don't use.

    • +3

      There is never leftover spam!

    • …I just use the can and cover with glad rap….but that's good if you want to coat the spam in something.

  • I have been using spam cut in cubes fried with canned potatoes and seasoned with salt, pepper, peri peri. Then served up mixed with fresh diced tomatoes and sprinkled with shredded cheese and a dash of tomato sauce…..mmmm heart attack delicious sometimes a can of cheap beans on the side too….

  • This or corned beef in a can? Which is better?

    • Tuna, salmon, corn, chicken in a can, beef jerky etc all better options

    • +2

Fry up corned beef in a can with thinly sliced onion (all together fried up) serve with boiled rice, it's quite good!

      • Might give that a try!

I'm normally make corned beef Scottish hash - corned beef inside mashed potato patties, dipped in oats and fried in butter.

I wonder how it might go with Spam instead.

    • I read the side of the corned beef can and it said contains 90% beef hearts. Gives it that nice spongey feel in your mouth.

      • I don’t believe you, I’ve eaten all the major brands of tinned corned beef and I’m yet to find one with that much heart content.

Stick toilet paper up your ass (pardon the pun).

I'm rolling out of coles with a trolley full of these bad bois

    • Just don't do it Newcastle. :)

    • Are the spam for the dogs breakfast or yours?

What a pun actually is: "a joke exploiting the different possible meanings of a word or the fact that there are words which sound alike but have different meanings."

      • -1

Uh-oh, being downvoted by geniuses who don't believe words have meanings…

      • Actually - The pun, also called paronomasia, is a form of word play that exploits multiple meanings of a term, or of similar-sounding words, for an intended humorous or rhetorical effect.

Term being a phrase used to describe a thing or to express a concept, especially in a particular kind of language or branch of study.

Also it's now a Hawaiian staple thanks to the military bases there sharing it with the locals.

Spam has quite a remarkable history!

    • Post war lived on it also via the Marshall Plan/aid….

      • When I was in an Asian grocery store @ 4 weeks ago, I noticed a whole endcap near the register dedicated to Spam. There were some different flavours, but I think it was made in Asia (not the USA).

  • Next to be hoarded for the Coronavirus!

  • Good time to buy with the covid19, but as food like after work, or school or as actual food ahh have fun.

  • well aldi 200 gm tuna seems to be in high demand ……they only let me get 10 cans , which is a week of lunches for 2 people, and shelves were empty at some stores ……

no issues with 90gm cans, but they don’t make much of a meal …. and coles and woolies have stocks but then they charge a lot more.

    • Yeah aldi is limiting sales of some long life items to 10, to ensure everyone gets to purchase some.

  • How does Spiced Ham from Aldi compare to Spam? I've never tried it, but it looks like it comes from the same source. I think it's usually $2.95 a tin? Not sure of the size.

  • Time to hoard all the SPAM

  • doesn't seem to be in the Sydney catalouge

    • You guys in lockdown yet? We're getting heated debates within the profession.

  • Funny it has always been associated as lacking all nutritional value but, reading the "Nutrition Facts" in the label it has some. Quite many actually.
Certainly too much fat and salt but it has a nutritional value.

There must be a reason why they are still making it.

Taste and quality are opinions but the "Nutrition Facts" label seem to support its worthiness.
    Is that the case?

    Interesting …

    • They still make it because they sell 90 million cans a year in the US

      • +1

Well 90 million consumers cannot be wrong … oh wait … cigarettes … forget my prev statement.

        • Probably not 90 million consumers, more likely 5 million who have 18 cans a year - you can tell who they are, they glow in the dark. Maybe it is a lot of old people with poor teeth who can't eat anything that needs chewing, like real ham

  • A bit off topic but whilst typing the prev comment I got an add for a Carnival Choose Fun cruise, $800 quad cabin.
Corona virus not guaranteed but highly probable :-)

    More SPAM??????

Damn, I could have saved 1000 bucks if I’d waited a week.

  • My dog wont eat it so either will I. We have 60 days worth of MRE's which he loves, so we good.

  • Lips and arseholes!

  • Seen some crowd buying trays of spam at coles.

    • Yeah, bloke in front of me when I was there today had a full tray of the truly awful lite stuff.

  • I've never actually had this before and would be keen to try it out.
